40 Minute Workout 5 – Calves and Biceps Exercises.

Lean muscle is the engine that burns away fat – and adding lean muscle across your whole frame will optimize your body’s ability to burn fat 24 hours a day. That means you will be burning at a heightened rate while you are watching TV, while you are surfing the net, even while you sleep. If you REALLY want to transform the way your body looks then nothing beats weight training exercises , and this workout is a great first step.

Best,
Zuzana

Great series! Its very refreshing to see someone who looks great, but who takes a very honest and real approach towards fitness. Your ab and circuit training segments were great. I used to incorporate circuit training i.e. sprints mixed with push-ups, sit-ups, and jumping rope. I got away from that needless to say my body suffered from it. Thank you again for showing me new exercises and bringing me back to the basics. You guys are great!

    Hey Zuzana!

I plan on adopting your 40 minute workout routine. I was wondering if there’s any significance to the type of weights you are using in the video. In other words, what if I chose to use the straight bar weights as oppose to the squiggy one you used in the videos. Also, how should I partition each part time wise. For example, should I just do all the reps you demonstrated/recommended (parts 1-6) at my own pace until the 40 minutes are up? Or dedicate a fair amount of time to each part? Thank you!!!

    • Hi Yen,
I am using the curl bar just because I prefer it more. You can absolutely use the straight one or you can use dumbbells – it’s up to you. The 40 minutes is a time frame. You will be doing a lot of reps so pick a medium weight that will allow you to go through all of the reps and sets and keep the rest breaks really short. The first time you try this workout, focus on completing all of the sets and reps in 40 minutes instead of the weight. This way you will find out how heavy should be the weight the next time and you can gradually increase the intensity of the workout by increasing the weight.

HI Zuzana, I weigh 152Ibs right now, I have lost 8Ibs doing only cardio.
I want to build and tone muscle, but continue to do cardio.
My cardio exercise is jumping jacks. I do 250 jumps rest or two minutes and continue till i have completed 1000 jumping jacks.

Should I do cardio (jumping jacks) and weight training on the same day.
I also take whey protein. I dont eat meat and fish only vegetarian fake meats.
How often should I be taking the protein?

    Thanks

    • Hi Cher,
I can’t tell you anything about whey protein, because I don’t use it. I use Salba instead. You can do weight training in the morning and jumping jacks in the afternoon or the other way around if you like. Try different things for cardio instead of the jumping jacks all the time to give your training some variety.

    Hi Zuzana,
Are the series of 40 minute work outs supposed to be done all in one day or should each segment take me 40 minutes to do?
For example should I do 1-6 all at the same time?
Thank you for you dedication. You look great and are really inspiring me to shed those 20lbs I’ve gained in the past 9 months.
