What is Overtraining

Anyone who is training on regular basis can experience different levels of fatigue, so not all situations can be classified as overtraining. Fatigue that often follows one or more exhaustive trainings can usually be corrected by a few days of rest and manipulation of your diet.

Cellular damage from an excessive training period that gets worse and worse over time is the cause of overtraining. There are two ways of how to deal with overtraining. You can avoid it or you can treat it. If you have to treat it, it’s too late!

These are symptoms of overtraining:

1. Decrease in performance

2. Increased number of infections

3. Elevated heart rate and blood lactate levels during exercise.

4. Loss of body weight

5. Chronic fatigue

6. Psychological staleness

    Hello Zuzana!
I’ve been going to fitness classes for two months now. I go there 3 times a week. It’s on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. The point is that we exercise there mostly legs. Is it bad for my leg muscles to train them that often? Of course, first of all we do a warm-up, than leg exercises, than abs, and finally stratching. The class is called ABT (Abdominal Buttocks Thighs). The question is – should I change my week routine? The truth is that I do feel a bit tired during the day and I can’t see the results on my body that I’d like to see. I’d like to be more muscular. I’m 178cm tall and I weigh 58kg. I’m an ectomorph, unfortunately :( Help!

    Hello guys!

Is there such a thing as over training a muscle group? I love doing weights with my legs ( 3 times a week) but lately I’ve noticed slight depressions on both of my thigh muscles.
Same place, same size – about 2 inches long, mid thigh. I’m tall and fit, but this is not nice at all! It’s just like if I was leaning on something and it left this sort of dent in my quads! Plus we are going on a trip to California a 2 months so I don’t want this!!
Should I simply take a rest from my weights with my legs and see how it goes?

    Any suggestions could help!!!

Thank you so much for all the motivation and great workouts you post.

    Melanie from Ottawa CANADA!!!!
