BodyRock Boot Camp workout 1: Burpees exercise

Burpee is whole body exercise that strengthens upper body, core, hips and increases the power of your lower body. Start by standing with your feet shoulder width apart and then squat down reaching your hands towards the floor. Drop onto your hands and kick your feet back into a push up position. Do a push up and then jump your feet forward in between your hands. Push yourself off of the floor into a jump. Bend your knees slightly when landing. Aim for 10 to 12 reps.

This workout has 6 parts. Try to go through all of the parts as quicly as possible and make just a very short rests between each exercise. Go through the whole cycle  at least 2 to 3 times.

    I can’t find Frederick’s six pack abs updates anymore. Is he still attempting a six pack?

    It was interesting to me to see if an average guy could get a six pack following your routines.

    I love the fact that you work so darn hard in these videos. So much of what you see out there is just demonstration but what is lost is the fact that you’ve got to work hard in order to get the results you desire. Its obvious you know that and have practiced it. I appreciate the fact that you are putting it out there for people to see. I’m sure these videos are very time consuming to make and I admire your obvious passion for helping people.

    That is probably the most perfectly executed burpee I’ve ever seen. Perfect push up, squat and thrust, jump, etc. It’s almost robotic! Congratulations!!! As others have mentioned in previous posts, it’s nice to see you get winded like real people instead of just the demonstration type video where you wonder, “how come I’m dying here and the trainer is fine?”.

    I use 8 lb. weights both hands for this. For me it’s quite a workout,but I manage to do 3 rounds at 10 reps.

    Hi Zuzana, I did this workout tonight and felt a good sweat, especially on the last set of the santana pushups at the end. Whew! I could only complete 5 and the 6th rep, I just dropped to the ground and that was the end of that. Anyway, I read somewhere on your site that you recommend workouts to vary each day. Can you confirm if you mean that we should change our routine daily or should we stick with the same routine for 4-6 weeks, then change our rotation? I know you suggested doing the Tabata workouts no more than twice a week and I have incorporated it into my workouts and I love it, so thank you very much. Anything you can offer is always appreciated. Thanks again for keeping your workouts, tips, and advice in a balanced and sound perspective. Keep it rockin’!
