Clean Eating – Chicken Vegetable Soup

Clean Chicken Soup

Ingredients:

475g of chicken breasts
180g of broccoli
128g of onions
156g of carrots
9g (6 cloves) of garlic
65g of spinach
salt and pepper
Marjoram (Origanum)
2 liters of water

Carbohydrates: 77.7g
Protein: 160,4g
Fat: 15.5g
Total Calories: 1107 (for the whole big pot)

 This soup is super easy to cook and when you break it down into individual meals it’s relatively cheap per serving. You can easily pack it up in a Thermos and take it to work, and if you are at home you can leave it on low and have it ready in seconds. There are a good 6 bowls (meals) in the pot that I make and it’s easy enough to make an even bigger batch. Because this is a low caloric meal, you can add burgol or eat it with whole grain bread. My husband Frederick likes to break up two pieces of whole grain bread into little pieces and mix that into his soup – he also started putting hot sauce into it for more flavor (this might be too much :) ). Another great thing about soups and stews is that they always taste better the next day, and the pot will keep nicely in the fridge so you can enjoy your soup over the course of a few days. It also helps to take care of any leftovers in the fridge :)

Obviously this soup does not contain enough calories for anyone for a whole day – but you can have this soup as part of your daily diet – just make sure that you are getting enough calories in your body each day from a variety of sources. If you don’t consume enough calories then your body will start breaking down your muscle tissue and this will lead to a slower metabolism, decreased strength and stamina and a whole lot of things you definitely want to avoid so eat up!

    ummm, thanks oh by the way i ordered Burgol because i tried buying it locally and i can’t find it. I’m still looking for the Psylium fiber from Organic India can’t find it either i might have to order it as well.

    HI Natalie,
    the psylium is a good fiber, but it is not that necessary really. You can get a lot of fiber from eating other foods. Also if you drink coffee before you eat you will also get the feeling of full stomach or better and healthier choice would be a vegetable soup that is very low in calories but makes you full. Another thing that I noticed when I started to drink a plenty of water was that I don’t get really hungry during the day and it is much easier for me to eat small portions 5-6 times a day.

    Hey Natalie, I don’t know if you have a Rite Aid or CVS Pharmacy around you, but they carry the Psyllium. Thats where I found it.

    I boil the chicken breasts and the vegetable separately. When you boil the meat, some grease will stay in the water, so I get rid of that and I put the boiled chicken in the pod with the vegetable when both are done. There is nothing else to it.

    so ive been going to the gym for the past 2 months and have seen changes in my thighs because its the strongest part of my body but my core and my butt is the same (not really thight but not really flabby) and I’m starting to convince myself that I should starve. Please Help mEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

    Oh by the way, I’m a coffee person too i have it everyday. Today i made some with a touch of nutmeg, the nutmeg should be mixed in with the ground coffee just a little tip and it taste good. I have to gradually eliminate the consumption of sugar, yet there are times i drink w/out sugar but i still use sugar i know it is not good. It’s hard for me because im such a sweet person. Right now im using Jamaican brown sugar.
