Natural Fat Burners – Negative calorie foods

It is almost hard to believe, but there is such a thing as burning calories by eating.  The negative calorie foods speeds up your metabolism and therefore can help with your weight loss efforts. You can eat bigger portions and more often and yet burn more calories, because your body will use more energy for digestion. So for example, you will eat a fruit that has 40 calories but your body needs 100 calories to digest the fruit, which means that your body will burn 60 calories . One of my favorite vegetable is celery and I am using it quite often. Piece of celery that contains 5 calories requires 150 calories to digest, so by eating this piece of celery, you are actually burning 145 calories! All of these negative calorie foods also contain all kinds of vitamins and minerals so they are like a natural and healthy fat burning supplements. It is much better solution to include in your diet a lot of negative calorie foods that will speed up your metabolism, then starving yourself and do exactly the oposite. Remember that in order to loose weight permanently you have to boost your metabolism and you can do that by eating every 2-3 hours. You should not limit your daily diet only to the negative calorie foods, because your body need other sources of nutrients as well. Include some low fat meat, dairy products and whole grains – basically stick with the clean eating, exercise regularly and you will soon start to see dramatic results.
Some of the calorie negative foods include broccoli, cauliflower, celery, carrot, garlic, onion, zucchini, lettuce, green beans, mango, apple, cranberry, grapefruit, papaya, watermelon, peach, orange, lemon, cranberry, blueberries, strawberry, tomato, raspberry, spinach, cucumber.

Best,

Zuzana.

    Zuzana,

I love love love this post… Im a tall girl and for me eating every 2 hours work super well, i did every 3 hours and was feeling super hungry… I never feel hungry and you did see my changes in one month… I eat all the time, and two hours fly so fast, sometimes I cant believe that I need to eat again… Its helps a lot not to think of food all the time, and kills all the crazy cravings….

    Awesome!

Now i know why they say that some foods burns fat, i thought it was a myth because “how a single fruit/vegetable can actualkly make loss fat” and it has so much sence, if it provides less calories than you need to be digested is simple math to understand.

Thx a lot Zuzana! you always give the best advices :D

    kisses

I’m so happy I discovered this site. You are an inspiration to us all Zuzana! I too am following a clean diet and have seen great weight loss results but now feel that I am too skinny! I’m 5’5 @ 115# and want to gain muscle so I’m trying to eat more– still clean but more! I do a full body workout (30min) and 30-40min cardio every other day to rest so I don’t break down too much muscle. Is this a good program to follow or should I be doing a split body routine instead? And how much more should I be eating? Help! Any input you can give would be great, thanks.

  • lexi

    hi zuzana!
i was wondering if you can make a NEW video of what you eat in a day, because it seems like you made so many changes that you would have a WHOLE different diet?
    also
how long do you work out, what do you do, and how many days a week do you do it?
    thanks so much!

    best,
    lexi

    Hi Kat,
The best way how to find out if you are making progress with your exercise program is to keep a workout and diet log. If you are making progress with your current program, than there is no need to change it. If you are trying to loose weight or gain weight, loose fat or gain muscles, the zig-zag method is just the best for everyone. Check the best method for fat loss article, you will find all of the information there.

  • Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

Nooo :) I don’t like to talk on videos, can I just make an article about it? I am always so embarrassed about the videos where I am talking that I can’t ever watch them :)

  • http://inbestshapeofmylife.blogspot.com/ Galina

  • Natram

heheee lol …… in a friendly way.

  • lexi

yea you can do an article about it!
    what about the exercise question?

  • Ron

    Hi Zuzana,

There have been done some research in relation to cancer and diabetes these were the ones I were thinking of, I can see if I can find the name of the papers so you can check it for yourself.

The body needs rest aswell, for example, did you know that the heart rests more than it works? Its a principle in the body, that enough rest is given so that optimum performance can be done. The stomach is also an organ that works, and thus requires enough rest to give its best. The meals however, must be on time, as must the time in the bathroom. The occational fast is also good, just stop by at your local healthfood store, and ask if they have any info on fasting.

Oki, thanks again for your time :)

  • David

Hi Zuzana. I discovered the site a week or so back and have been plundering all the information I can, as I’m very serious about loosing some weight. Thanks for the list of foods that are negative fat burners.

I know this article is about food but I’m wondering if it’s true that you burn more fat by drinking lots of water?

    Sincerely,

    David

  • Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

Hi David, I posted an article about water and how drinking a lots of water can positively impact your weight loss efforts. Check out this article.

  • David

Hi Zuzana. Thanks for the link to the article about water and fat loss. It’s chalked full of interesting things I did not know.

    Sincerely,

    David

  • JahJah

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for posting this
    this information is super helpful
i get so hungry in school I’m always wanting something to munch on so now i wont feel bad about snacking every couple of hours on fruits and vegetables

But is it really okay to eat as many fruits as you want
i know they are high in sugar but since its natural is it okay to have as many fruits as you want?

  • Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

The amount of fruit that you eat during the day should be still moderate.

  • janet

    hi zuzana
i’m starting a “new” diet and exercise ..
but honestly i don’t really know what to do
I’m trying to have a nice body and get rid of fat….
    i don’t know if i should eat 5 meals or 3 meals a day:(
i got rid of sugars, bread and fast food.
In the morning(6 am) i eat 2 slices of wheat bread with fruit, and then like around 12pm chiken or fish with vegetables and rice …
i do 30m cardio and some lower body workout 5 day a week.
whenever I’m done at night like around 6 or 7 i eat a salad or some fruit…
but i don’t think i’m doing the right thing..
can you please tell me what i need to do to get slim and tone my body
    I’m 20 and 5’6″ and im 140p.

  • Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    HI Janet,
3 meals a day cause your metabolism to slow down. Instead eat small portions but often. It is recommended to eat 5 or 6 small portions a day. Also you have to work your whole body not only your lower body. I think you need to read through the articles in fitness tips page and diet and nutrition page.

  • janet

    wow!!!
thanks so much for the advice:)
for now on ill eat my 5-6 small meals
and by the way your articles are awesome
    thank you zuzana

  • Nicole

    Zuzana,

—–Some Personal Experience Advice For Anyone Who Wants It.—–

I work weird hours and I hate to feel hungry so I bought some reusable containers a while ago and I always put some kind of food in them that I can feel good about, yet still enjoy eating, like baby carrots or wheaties. Baby carrots are really easy because they are usually under $2.00s for a pack and they are not messey at all so you can eat them anywhere. I have always been active but a few months ago I started to turn into one of those “fat skinny people” and realized I hated everything about it. So I started only buying “clean” foods for my house and not carrying around money with me when I didn’t have to so that I wouldn’t be tempted to buy something quick and cheap (which usually means bad). Those are just a few of my own suggestions on how to lose fat. I hope it works for someone :)

Hi. I’m 38, 5″6 and 140p and I have a small frame. I’d like to weigh between 120-125p, before I get pregnant. I do 30min cardio 7 days a week and 20min upper and lower body strength training 7 days a week, for a few months now. I eat 6 small portion of meals during the week like you do and drink lots of water. I have not lost any weight, although I look a lot firmer. What am I doing wrong? What must I eat and what exercises do I need to do in order to lose 15 pounds? How long will it take to lose the weight?

  • Toni

    Dear Zuzana

This is interesting. I was alway taught that there was no such thing as a negative calorie food except for…ice cubes!

However, I love my fruit and veges so this will be no problem. This is my improved version of a daily plan. My body fat is down and my energy is up Tell me what you think!

Breakfast – small serve cereal (barley or oats or brown rice) plus small serve protein like 2 eggs plus green tea
Snack – small piece of fruit plus green tea
Lunch – small serve protein, large serve veges plus small serve seeds or a little good oil plus 2 cups water
Snack – small serve nuts and small serve veges plus green tea
Dinner – small serve protein, large serve veges plus 2 cups water
Snack – small serve yoghurt (natural set and no additives) plus green tea.

I do try to stick to either salmon, chicken or tofu for my protein but have been know to lash out on kangaroo (yes I am Australian) for a bit of fun.

  • http://www.AriesAlterEgo.com Sandra / Aries0913

This explains A LOT!! I have been eating more now than ever but my new favorite food is celery. I have been using tons of it. I chop it up with cabbage, bok choy, onions, ginger, snap peas, slightly stir fried with olive oil and some curry powder. Then I add some grilled tofu! Soooo good. I have been using celery in my soups a lot too. I used to hate it when I was growing up for some reason???

  • Joanne

This is a great article!! I did not know there are negative calorie foods!!
    Thanks again for great tips!!

  • Raina

Hi Zuzana! Thanks for the helpful advices, you are really great. I wanted to ask, if i eat every 2 or 3 hours is it good to work out too? because i thought you must wait about 4 hours after meal. And also until what time is it good to eat? I have heard that we must not eat after 8 o clock in the evening because we cant burn them and gain weight… Is it true? THANK YOU!!! Keep going!

  • almost mad

    Hi!

How much weight/fat can one expect to lose in a month eating this way? Im 25/70kg and 1.57m tall

  • Georgia

Are you sure about all of those? Some of them are quite soft foods, I would have thought raspberries would digest without any calories!

  • Deya

Good to know! I eat these veggies to mentioned on a daily basis but had no idea on the negative calories concept. Thanks for the info!

A little question regarding avocados. I know they are full with mono-saturated fats, I personally LOVE THEM but I am not sure how often (a week, lets say) one should include avocados on their diet…any pointers on that will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks a lot !

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Deya,

I personally don’t see any reason why you couldn’t include avocados into your diet on a regular basis. Avocado is not processed – it is a real food that comes from nature.

    Hi Zuzana,

I was a full time trainer before due to circumstances I changed my job. I did not have time to exercise regularly. But now I came across to your work out it’s fantastic. Wish I had known earlier. But it’s never too late. You inspired me to do fitness again. I’m following your work out since one week. You are the Best! GOD BLESS YOU.

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Valerie,

thank you for the sweet comment :)

  • Ari

    Great stuff!
    I have a question:
Do you have to eat the fruits and veggies raw to get the negative calorie affect? Will eating cooked broccoli burn as many calories as raw broccoli? Will dried apple burn as many calories as eating a raw apple?

  • Kasia

    Hi Zuzana!

Thank you very much for posting this. Like someone else here already said, I had an idea about those kinds of foods but did not know how it worked. Now I do! Thank you very much for devoting so much time to help people who want to improve their fitness and health. I’m 20 now and I can only hope to look as beautiful as you, but I know it’s not a question of hope but hard work! Thank you so much for posting the videos!

    Ahoj Zuzi,

so what is the calculation to finding a maintence point and a loss point how do you know how many calories to consume to loose?? Is it diffrent as you loose weight? Is it actually possible to loose weight and not keep slashing calorie numbers???

  • Sonja

    Hey,

I love this site. I’m trying to lose about 10LBs, which has been so difficult the past two years, but after two week of eating veggies/fruits every two hours plus a dinner everyday, and working out three times a week I’m actualy losing weight, and I FEEL GREAT. I used to be tired all the time, because I would starve myself inorder to eat less calories everyday. I’ve lost 4LBS so far. Thank you thank you so much :)

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/FitMindy?feature=mhum Mindy McT

I knew celery but I didn’t know all the other ones too! I’m going to do some more research into this topic. You have my attention now. Oh and out of curiosity. Lets say my diet consists of mostly negative calorie foods and I think I am eating about 1400 a day. But Lets say I am burning 2000 just to digest those foods plus my workout calories and my calories burned to live. Would my body enter starvation mode like in a starvation diet? Can your elaborate on this one for me please.
