Turkey Wrap

Ingredients:

Whole grain wrap

Extra Lean ground turkey 100g

Onion – 10g (1 table spoon)

Salsa – 2 table spoons

Fat free sour cream 1 table spoon

1 slice of fat free cheese

Organic Herb Salad 1 1/2 cup

Salt and pepper

Hint of Rosemary

Chop the onion and throw it on a hot pan. You can add 1 spoonful of olive oil or you can use just water. Leave the onion on the pan cooking about 1 minute so it gets glossy and then add the meat. Keep stirring until the meat is done. Add salt and pepper, a hint of Rosemary, salsa, fat free sour cream and slice of fat free cheese. As soon as the cheese melts, it’s done. Put the whole grain wrap in the oven for 4 minutes to make it warm and crunchy. When the wrap is done, put the salad on the wrap first and than the meat on top of  it and fold it in half. That’s it, it is really easy and fast to prepare and also very tasty.

maybe instead of fat free sour cream you can use fat free plain yogurt, it’s more dense and flavorful as well. you can definitely add cilantro and perhaps cook the meat in some spices such as cumin, nutmeg? etc. :D

  2. E.E. says:

I say cumin because much of mexican/foreign cooking contains strong spices like that. It’s the flavor that you taste many times at restaurants.

  3. E.E. says:

oh yeah, is the wrap the very big one? i’m guessing it is. about the size of a plate? thanks Zuzana!

Thank you for posting these recipes and the nutrition counts.
What is your advice on how many grams of protein one needs per day/pound of body weight? What do you aim for?

I love turkey wraps. I usually use home made pico de gallo (mexican salsa), all it is is tomato, onion, serano pepper or jalapeno, and cilantro with a little lime juice. Instead of the sour cream I always use avacado, then some baby spinach, some more tomato slices, and evoo and red vinegar, and some sea salt and fresh cracked black. Damn, I’m getting hungry.

  9. Vânia says:

Try adding minced garlic and chopped up jalapeños (canned) to the turkey meat before you cook it. It’ll taste a million times better. :)

  10. Vânia says:

Here’s another suggestion, try marinading the turkey meat in white wine for about an hour along with black pepper, garlic salt, paprika and one egg. Mix it all together right before grilling. It’s finger lickin’ good! :)

    Hope you like it!

I have found that spices like ground coriander seed and a touch of ground cumin are a nice touch for a recipe like this. Rosemary is a great herb but maybe not so much for this recipe.
Also, some peppers, garlic, and onions cooked in with the turkey would be good too.
Don’t forget cilantro, tomatoes, and lettuce for the top and dare I say avocado?

  14. Kasie says:

Some cilantro and also some cooked bell peppers (red or yellow) would be delicous in the recipe!
