Clean Eating – Tuna pasta delight

I am sorry for the corny name:) but we really spent a long time thinking what we were going to call this meal. It is a fast and easy to do meal that is made only of clean foods.

Ingredients:

255g whole wheat yolk free egg white noodles

2 cups of mixed frozen vegetables (carrots, peas, beans, corn)

2 water packed tuna 120g

4 slices of fat free cheddar cheese

2 spoons of lime juice

hint of ginger

3 pieces of garlic

2 large fresh tomatoes

2 cups of fresh spinach

1 spoon of olive oil

Cook the pasta.  Heat up the olive oil on a pan, and add the mixed vegetables and let them thaw and warm up. Next dump in two cans of Tuna (minus the water) and then add the cheese and let it melt. Pinch in a hint of ginger, 3 diced pieces of garlic, and lime juice. When you are finished with this, then add 2 large fresh sliced tomatoes and two cups of fresh spinach. Add salt and pepper to your personal taste. The whole meal takes about 20 minutes to prepare.

Nutritional information for the whole batch:

1605 calories, 249g carbohydrates, 102g protein, 35g fat.

  • Natram

I WANT TO TRY THIS. MAYBE DURING THIS WEEK ;)

  • Natram

i made this today for my lunch and it was good, i forgot to add the lime juice and tomatoes, but overall it was tasty.

  • Brandy

This sounds really tasty but won’t it really limit the other 5 meals I’m supposed to have? For example this recipe contains 35g of fat and according to my caloric density chart I should only have about 40g of fat. That means it is very likely that I’ll go over my allowed grams of fat. What do you think? Thanks for the help.

  • Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

Hi Brandy, the whole pod has 35g of fat total. 1 portion is probably just 1 fifth of the total amount of calories.

    hey! thanks alot zuzana!

I quit eating tuna due to the mercury levels in even the “low mercury” tuna. I used to eat it 3 times a week with these yolk free egg white noodles. I was feeling really sick and had some health issues. So i researched it. For my body weight, my allowance was only 1 can of tuna every 8-10 days. Then I found out why.. It is not good even in tiny doses to ingest mercury. The metal has so many side effects. The problems that I was having before have cleared up since I stopped eating it.

  • francis

what can you use instead of a hint of gonger cuz i dont have that

  • francis

oh and how many people does the whole thing serve?

  • Natalie

    Hi Zuzana and Frederick,

I just made this recipe (haven’t tasted it yet tho as I made it for tomorrow) and have a few questions.

For the spoons of Lime Juice… is it Teaspoon or Tablespoon?
For the spoon of Olive Oil, is it Teaspoon or Tablespoon?

Also, I could not fit everything in my pan to toss around. Does the spinach and tomato need to be combined with the pasta, tuna and mixed veggie mixture along with garnishes and cooked for a bit? Or do you just toss them all in a container and combine there.

Also is it to be eaten cold or warm?

I can’t wait to taste it.

Thanks so much. I am on a mission to really try to each much cleaner from now on.

    Cheers,
    Nat

This recipe looks doable. Does not seem like lot of work, and the end product that is Biryani looks tempting. For me Biryanis is one of the best Indian food.

This is a typical psychosomatic symptom, forget the mercury nonsense,it is not the mercury , but your mental state, this can include factors such as personal/social/anxiety/stress etc which can mimic your symptoms.
Transference is what is being seen here, you have effectively “transferred” your negative symptoms to the singular cause of “mercury in tuna” and then eliminated it from your diet.
Which is a good thing as it is in effect a reasonable way of dealing with your symptoms
But please dont blame mercury in tuna which only tends to misinform others..
