Healthy Eating Goals: Avoid Take Out Meals

As much as possible avoid take out or ordering in. When you are starving, or time is scarce, it can be easy to grab fast food or order in a pizza as a quick solution. A recent study found that the average restaurant diner underestimates his or her calorie count by up to 93%. These calories add up fast and can completely overwhelm your training efforts. Keep in mind also that cheap fast foods are inexpensive because they are mass produced and heavily processed – they also tend to be made from low quality, fatty ingredients that you would probably not feed your pet. The best approach is to to plan out your meals ahead of time, and always try to have plenty of fresh, healthy foods available for your meals and snacks.

fast food is my enemy lol

    hi zuzana
first of all i love your site..it’s being so much of a help to me
but this time i want to ask you something..
i know that pills and teas don’t really help you alot when losing weight but have you heard of acai berry? i’ve heard that ir really works ..
what do you think about it ? you think i should try it?
thank you and i love your summer fit !!!!!!!!!!

i heard of many things i just get confused after awhile of deciding what to get, so i just settle for vitamins. I bought GNC womens active multivatimin supplements and i stick with clean eating. Unless i keep researching the product for real improvements.

Hey Janet. There’s nothing wrong with pure green or white tea, tea in general is very good for flushing out toxins and keeping you clean (not to mention hydrated). It also is good at stabilizing blood sugar, relaxing you before you go to sleep or energizing you when you wake up (depends on the tea of course!)

My opinion: ignore all of the hype that’s around “super foods” in the media like acai, goji, etc. The stuff you probably get, especially if it’s cheap, is probably diluted and not as potent as the real thing. Worth the money? Not really.

My advice? Invest in sprouts! Sprouts go great on any salad, sandwich, whatever. If I’m in a hurry, I grab a handful of sprouts, some cheese and flat-bread for snacking. Sprouts are a powerful antioxidant and are full of the vitamins we need in a tiny tiny serving. Multivitamins are great too, they might not help you lose weight, but they keep you replenished through out the day. It’s important for women to have enough iron and calcium, as we become deficient in those two areas throughout the month.

Im not saying there’s anything wrong with acai, poms or goji, they’re all delicious (well, goji is kinda funky…) and good for you, but they might not be miraculous in helping you lose pounds.
Like Zuzana says, just be sensible, eat a good diet and sweat!
    ps. Zuzana, you rock.

Is it true that artificial sweeteners cause a person to maintain/gain belly fat?? If so, I’m in big trouble! :-O I like to put 4C Fruit Punch flavoring (artifically sweetened) in my water to help me drink more of it. Is there a way I can naturally sweeten water or just make it taste better? Thanks!

Hey new to the site but so far seem like what i have been looking for. I have been working out for about 4 months fairly steady and just kinda make it up as i go and from what i have ready online. Im 5’5 and about 118 or 120 pounds i dont have a scale so thats guessing. I do about 45 mins cardio and weights 5 to 6 days a weeks. I try to eat the best i can but its hard with work and life. for my size and the amount i work out what should i be eating? I have ready many things but get confused about all of it. My goal is to build much more muscle and burn more fat… of course right but i seem to be staying the same??? Some say fat burners and protien shakes…i was taking Animal pak and animal cuts at differnt times but i dont know how good it is for a women my size?

  • Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

Hi, I don’t believe in fat burners at all and I don’t think that women need protein shakes either unless they want to build big muscles. Whatever your goal is, proper diet and regular exercise is what you should be focusing on the most. Check out the diet and nutrition tips, I am sure you will find your answers.

    so protien shakes r good

  • James

Haha, only if you use it within the next hour or so, otherwise it becomes pure fat

  • rox

Do you think the 5-factor diet works?

I’m at 120pounds and want to go down to 105 and im 5ft2′, what do u think i should to do to get rid of the tire of fat i have around my lower ab/waist/love handle area?

  • Lorne J.

The more fresh and unprocessed foods you eat the less appealing and less tolerance you will develop for processed/junk foods.

The downfall is that you can’t just walk into a restaurant and find much of a selection on a date or evening out. Even the better foods are generally drenched in fat to give them ‘flavour’.

Hopefully in the future health conscious people will have more options and be able to eat out more.

    Hi Zuzana,

I am wondering if you have a “free” day with your eating habits? And if so – what is it that you like to endulge on?

    Thank you,

    Hi Zuzana,

Your workouts are too intense for me.. but just watching you keeps me motivated. I pull what I can do and make it work for me. I’m 5’6 and weight 185 lbs.. I’ve always been thick. I love jogging riding my bike, swimming I stay active.. but recently due to a depression I lost 30 lbs in a very short period of time. now I have lose skin its awfull!! I don’t know what to do? I think I need alot of Cardio Workout to lose the fat and weights to gain back my muscle.. but then again I’m not all that sure on what it is that I need to do. I have alot of arm flab its awful!! its makes me very self consiouse. My goal is to reach 160 atleast for now.

what kind of advice can you give me?
