Summer Fitness Circuit Workout 6: Cross Body Snatch Exercise

This is part 6 of the summer fitness circuit workout. You will be doing cross body snatch 5 reps on each side. This whole body exercise will enhance your coordination, because it uses most of the muscles in your body and teaches them to work together as a unit. This exercise is appropriate even for beginners and will help you to develop functional strength that you can actually use in your every day life or any sport. Functional strength can be developed only by multiple joint exercises. One joint exercises can only develop muscles for show but with a strength that is useless. You just can’t expect to develop coordination necessary for athletic performance if your muscles have never worked together as a team. Not only that, but in any active work that you do at home like lifting heavy box or what ever else, there is no way that you would isolate your muscles. So try to avoid muscle isolating exercises as much as you can and enjoy the benefits of functional strength building exercises like the cross body snatch.

Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and hold the dumbbell in your right hand. Lunge to the left while reaching across your body until the dumbbell touches the ground. Use your legs to reverse the movement and then snatch the dumbbell overhead while moving to the starting position. Keep the dumbbell close to your body and your chest and head up. Repeat five times on each side.

Best,

Zuzana.

Thank you. Creative and it looks like it works very well.

Zuzanna, You have an amazing body, and I must tell you that you are an inspiration to many people. Have you ever thought about competing? I think you could do really great!

  • johnarmguam

    Z,
This is another fantastic move to strengthen the core.
    Thanks a bunch.

I’d like to see more of your life outside of the gym. I think you would make a great “reality” TV personality. The camera loves you.
    Think about it.
    Sincerely,
    jag671

    Hi jag671,

I think I will rather stick with the plane workouts :) , but thanks for the nice comment.

  • Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

Hi brandy, thank you. I would rather help someone else to compete than compete myself.

  • John McAllister

    Hi Zuzana,

What weight dumbell are you using there? How do I know what weight to use for this exercise.

I love the workout you’ve put together here and the theory behind it. Would you recommend doing some jumprope after this strength circuit or is it better to split the strength and cardio workouts?

Great information on this website and so helpful, keepup the good work!

    Regards,
    John

    Hi Zuzana,

Will you have a DVD available ? I’d like to purchase it for my Niece. Seriously, my niece is vegetarian and doesn’t exercise much but she’s very smart, and I’m trying to get her involved with physical exercise.

    Thanks,
    Sxean

I still can’t believe a tv network hasn’t snatched you up yet. FitTV would see a huge ratings increase if they gave you a fitness show.

    That’s just my opinion.

  • Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

Hi John, this circuit works your cardiovascular system as well so there is no need for an extra cardio. But ofcourse you will get better results by adding more work. I don’t suggest you do the rope jumping after this workout tho because prolonged workouts just tire you out. You can get better results with 2 short training sessions a day. If your workout is too long and exhausting, then you don’t enjoy it and you loose your focus. Try this circuit at the beginning of a day and than do the rope jumping later, you will see that you will have more energy throughout the day.

Hi Zuzana I loved this work-out. I was wondering is each of your circuit workouts one for each day, can i do two of them separately, or together, what is your recommendation?

  • bree

what is part 6..there are days but whats part??

  • Lalina

    hi!
    I just love u’re exercises.
I have 15 years and i decided to start doing ecercises(it is never to early to begin with healthy life style).
I have 5 kg more than i should have(I’m 175cm tall and i have 65 kg),so I would like to ask u how many time I have to spend on exercises every day to get rid of that fat(LOL).
    THANK U VERY MUCH!
    GOOD LUCK :)

    Hi Lalina,
some people exercise 3 times a week for an hour, but you can get better results by exercising more often and spend less time on each workout. If you can manage to exercise at least 20 minutes every day, you will get faster results.

  • Lalina

    Thank you very much :D

    Zuzana,

In reviewing your suggested workout plan for the week, on day 5 your circuit training should the excercises be performed as 6-10 reps/1 set of each excercise. Or should I be performing 3 sets of each. Also, I am not too computer savy, so what is the best way of compiling all of the segments of the circuit training so that I can go through the excercises smoothly, instead of stopping and selecting each individual workout to complete the entire routine? Help!

    Hey Zuzana,

Just did your circuit today. Rock&Roll to standing at 5 reps, good form at my age 48. I haven’t done this since birth. hahaha!! Thank you so much! Feels so good indeed. My body compliments your style of training. And more to say that, I’m getting back to my youth and even better as a mom. Thank you again, girl!
