Summer Fitness Day4 – 20 Minute Cardio / Core Workout

On Day 4 of the Summer Fitness Workout I am a doing a cardio workout routine that also targets the core and abs. This time the skipping is very similar to jogging in place. Shift back and forth on your feet with the skipping rope keeping a steady rhythm. Do 50 turns a move directly to the ab exercise. Lock down your core and make sure your muscles are tensed and engaged. Count out 50 reps to complete the set. Once you have completed 50 jumps on the rope and 50 flutter kicks then go to your exercise log and mark one set. You goal is to complete as many sets as possible of these 2 exercises in 20 minutes.

    First off, you have a lovely name!

    I was recently diagnosed with manic depressive disorder and my doctor gave me two options; I could take pills or I could live healthy and exercise every single day.

    I just do whatever exercise from your website that I feel like. Sometimes twenty minutes a day, sometimes twenty minutes twice a day! It is VERY addicting.

    I’ve been doing this for about amonth, and not only my mood has improved but i have lost ten pounds in fat and gained a lot of definition. Now I am not only happy, I am gorgeous.

    prave som si pozerala videa od tych najstarsich a klobuk dolu, robis super vec a uzasne pokroky! Kazde video je super, si velka insipracia pre mnohych ludi!
    Snazila som sa najst Tabata workout, ktory si uz parkrat odporucala, ale neviem ho nikde najst( a preluskala som dost videi ;) )
    a tiez by som sa chcela spytat , ci mas aj nejake video z boxu, al. kicboxu, pretoze mna osobne to velmi bavi. Myslis, ze je potrebne mat specialnu kvalifikaciu aj na tento druh treningu ako je boxercise al. kickox cardio?

    Ahoj bb, Tabata style cardio najdes pod 20 minute cardio workout.
    Me kickbox taky bavi a mela jsem nejaka videa ale jelikoz nemam v tomhle smeru zadnou specializaci a z tech videi to bylo poznat, tak jsem je ze stranek smazala. Do budoucna urcite planuju si nejakou tu kvalifikaci udelat ale zatim se mam jeste co ucit o vseobecnem posilovani a gymnastice. Jeste jak jsi se ptala na preklad slova ‘core’ exercises. Tak ja ti neumim prijit na slovo v cestine ktery by to dobre vystihlo. Jelikoz se vsechno ucim v anglictine tak nad ceskymi vyrazy ani nepremyslim. Core jsou v podstate vsechny svaly co se zapoji pri predklonu, zaklonu, uklonu a rotaci patere. Jsou to svaly zad, boku a bricha. Zatim se mej krasne.

    I just found all your videos on the internet the other day and I have to say I am hooked. I have been a yo-yo exerciser for about 3 years now and I am still not where I want to be. I was wandering if you coud help me a little. What do you do to get motivated everyday? I mean, somedays I am just so motivated and think I am doing to achieve my goals and then I wake up the next morning and can’t pull myself out of bed. i have not been in a bathing suit in years. I am definately not overweight I just have the love handles, muffin top, and a big bootie. i am so self contious about not being toned everywhere but yet I can’t get motivated to keep up the exercising everyday. Please, your body is so perfect. Teach me how to look like you!!!!

    Hi Rebecca, there is no shortcut, you have to push yourself hard and workout every day and really watch your diet. All I can do for you is to keep updating this site with new workouts and fitness tips :)

    Long time no talk, my computer was down for so long. This is a great video, it looks very hard, I give you credit.
    I am doing very well with my ab exercises and I have put more cardio into my routine.
    However, I still cannot get rid of some fat on my obliques, I am getting a six pack very little bit, but my sides look big from behind, any other ideas? I have been running almost every night and sweating a hell of a lot. If you could help, I’d really appreciate it.

    I watching your videos at the beginning of the year and working out all the time with them. I injured my knee in February and have been out of commission ever since. I need motivation to get back in to it because I am REALLY out of shape. I need to lose about 20 pounds and want to get toned so I can be in a bathing suit this summer. Do you have any before and after pictures of you or anyone who follows you? It would be greatly appreciated. Just so I know that I can do it.

    Hi Bren, my boxing videos were pathetic and that’s why I took them down. There were not good instructional videos, I did them only to show people different activities.

    hi there zuzana, u have such a wonderful body, i wish my girlfriend’s body is just like you. the problem is that my girlfriend is too thin, and it is so hard for her to gain weight. she even can eat much and if she does, she will feel like throwing it back out. how am i suppost to solve this problem?

    Hi Adam, I personally think that what you wrote is incredibly rude towards your girlfriend. This is not flattering me, but rather making me angry. How would you like if your girlfriend would tell some guy how much she likes his body and wish you were more like him? It seems to me that your girlfriend might be having some serious psychological problems like bulimia. Victims of bulimia are lacking self confidence and the last thing they need is a boyfriend who is drooling over someone elses body. If you want to help your girlfriend you should be supportive and loving and make her feel good about herself.

    huhu.. its not what you thinks.. my girlfriend even admired your body and want to have body like yours.. ive done so many things so support her to gain some weight.. asked her to take higher calorie food.. teaches her weight exercise.. and even bought her a weight gainer protein powder.. ill do anything for her.. this is not my decision, its hers.. i just support her and need some advice for her.. sorry for making myself bad from your point of view..

    i turn 17 the second week of august.
    i would like to lose about 10 -15 lbs becasue the 116 that im at inculdes a bit of fat.

    Hi Jay, in order to loose weight you have to burn more calories than you eat. Try to move every day. Pick any workout from this site that matches your fitness level, follow the eat clean diet, measure your food with hands, eat small portions, eat 5-6 small meals a day, drink a lots of water, keep an exercise and diet log so that you can check your own progress and you will get results. Just be strong and consistent.

    Jay,
    Don’t make this too complicated for yourself. From my own experience, I think that it is better to forget about counting calories and rather measure your food by hand and listen to your body. Have fun being active every day and you will see results in no time. You just have to start and be consistent. Fitness is not just something you do for only certain period of time. It is a lifestyle.

    Hey Zuzana! I really am enjoying the exercises from this website! I just did this core/cardio exercise yesterday and had a lot of trouble with the scissor-kick part. My question is if my lower back keeps curling outwards-am I doing it wrong? I figured I must have been and so I modified the posture by sitting on my hands…I think I am not able to do it because my core is not super strong and I have a decently flexible chest (which is great for some yoga postures) :) Thank you!

    Hi Sunny, you have to keep your lower back flat on the ground. If that is a problem, then you have to lift your legs a little bit higher to keep your back flat on the floor. If that feels still hard, then you can do reversed crunches instead, no problem ;) You’ll get stronger.

    i m well into week 2 n its going good so far. i figured wut’s working for me is doing weight training 1 and cardio/core on the same day n then same with weight training 2 and pair it with the other cardio/core. i cant do two weight training on the same day cuz i suck at pushups! i m getting better though.

    i have a request. when u get time, could u put together an ab workout that has no exercise on the floor (maybe on the therapy ball or standing or something). i know u have these kind of exercises here n there but it would rely help if u put them all (n perhaps more new moves too!) in one place. i say this b/c i know, like me, many people have a hard time getting the right form with ab exercises on the floor (with their back or neck hurting). i rely wanna work my abs till they hurt but i cant do most of the common ab exercises b/c no matter how i do it, i feel it more in my back/neck or even my legs–and NOT in my abs. i find that exercises like the one u did in one of ur workouts where ur shoulders r on the back and u twist from one side to another…i find these more effective personally. i hope i m making sense. even for the exercise in this vid, i had to change it cuz my legs were feeling all the work, so i did it on the back instead, which made it a bit better but still, i didnt feel my abs doing the work. i hope u can put together something for those of us who have this issue.

    I have been checking out your website here for a few weeks now. My boyfriend and I have committed to doing your workouts. We used to be in shape and then when we changed jobs and relocated, our jobs took over our lives. We were really unhealthy and ate junk food a lot. We also hardly exercised. Then we decided we needed a change and moved to Hawaii, where my boyfriend was born and raised.

    We are determined to get back into shape and you have truly been an inspiration to us! We started with the beginner workout before the new year and now we’re doing the 6 week exercise program. We definitely feel it the next day after the workouts. Since we are just starting, we are listening to our bodies and skip a day if we have to. We are already feeling energized and we are feeling better everyday.

    i wanna ask, like you do short repetitions of skipping like 30 skips, or 50 or 100 then stop.. what if i did 300 at once and then strength training. which is better?? short reps with more training or long reps?? i dunno

    Can you please advise me what is best to keep the skin nice and tight I am 48 and in great shape, I found your site by accident and am hooked on it , your routines hit the right spots. I also do farlick running in the morning for 30min…consisting of 1min walking and 1min sprintting on 16 , I chang e my routine everyday then I follow with 1 or 2 of your exercises and again after work if I have time do another 1. Can you advise me am I doing to much or is this ok.
    Keep those videos coming as you truly know your stuff.

    Hi Zuzana i just stared these program but i´m a litle unsure that doing only 15 to 20 minutes is going to make a difference because i´ve done other workout for 45 minutes or more and well i do get result but not that much. So Zuzana doing 15 or 30 minutes workout are they going to change my body but also now i eat more healthy more veggies and 4 porcions a day that can help but still is 15 to 30 minutes enough to change your body? i not so concern about losing weight since i get muscle “weight” SO it is enough????

    I live in an apartment building and every time I jump, the whole building shakes (building’s not made out of bricks but has a wooden frame). Today I’m about to jump rope, so the neighbors will undoubtedly think that I have an elephant as a pet ;-) Also, I’m 5’9″ so I hope my rope won’t be snagging the ceiling o_O

    jay u can achually put on weight with calories less then 1,200 as ur body goes into starvation mode just limit your sat fat and train hard.

    Wow thats very good advice! See the problem with me is i used to run cross country, track, play tennis and swim. A couple of years down the road (college) and I never had enough time (or motivation) to keep going and start working out again! Sadly I’ve felt uncomfortable in my body for awhile ever since the muscle turned to… well mush lol. I’ve tried SEVERAL times to get back into working out, but I just never stuck with it. Until I saw your website :D for the first time in years I’m working out everyday and feeling LOTS better so thank you so much! Ive started this program I’m about 5 days in now, I’ve also been power walking about 5 miles everyday AND im on the special k diet, eating more fruits and drinking more water. My question to you is…Would I see great results by early August? I’m going to Myrtle Beach with my boyfriend and his family and I REALLY want to feel great in a bathing suit once again :) If you could reply or even give me a few extra tips i would be GREATLY appreciative.     I´m working with your summerfit exercise 6 weeks, since 4 days and I can´t jump the way you do, while skipping in this video, it looks kind of stupid and i am pretty slow. I just can skip the way you do in your Cardio and Core workout for day 2.
    So please can you give me some advice how to skip right for Cardio and Core exercise day 4 ????
