What equipment do I need to follow your workout routines?

Many of the workout routines that you can find on BodyRock.Tv use only your own body weight for resistance and no additional equipment is necessary. The very basic fitness equipment that you should have if you want to follow my workout routines is an exercise mat, a set of dumbbells, and a skipping rope. Ideally you should have a variety of free weights. You can either gradually increase your collection of dumbbells or get adjustable free weights.

If you are interested in setting up your own home gym, you can definitely use a pull up bar, stability ball, medicine ball, step, barbell, and/or kettle-bells.Compare to expensive gym memberships and exercise machines,  these items are all relatively inexpensive. Look at this basic fitness equipment as a long term investment in your health and well being.

What parts of Canada do you visit? And if somebody wanted you as a personal trainer
    how much would you cost?

I am 181cm and 75-80kg… i am just starting out to do some work because i stoped rideing my bike a lot after i moved to a much smaler town to study.

Right now i am just doing pushups, i started out with barely getting one don and in the last weeks i got up to 5 sets of 10-16. (to give you an idea of how much i can push)

I am looking into getting a medecinball and some dumbbells and i am unshure on what weight to get for each…and especialy the ball seems to be pritty expensiv, i realy don´t want to go to heavy or to light and end up with a ball that coast me 20-60€ that i cannot use.

Could you give me some advice on what to get?

    bye
    Michael

  • Sharon

    Hi Zuzana,

My friend told me she’s doing a workout with Kettlebells and is enjoying them. Do you rate them? And will you be incorporating them into your workout in the future?

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Sharon,
I have been thinking about incorporating kettlebells for a long time, but I am moving to Europe soon so I won’t do it until then. I will have to sell my equipment that I have here and get new things when I get there.

  • http://twitter.com/freakygreeneyes Amber

I want to get a medicine ball. I just moved to Las Vegas and I cant make myself go outside to run like i used to in LA. I need to find more fat burning workouts i can do in a small space! How do I know what size medicine ball to use? I have pretty weak arms, should I go for 6 lbs? just wondering if there is a good starting place.

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    HI Amber,

If you are a beginner don’t start with a weight that seems heavy to you. You will become stronger and eventually even the 6lbs will seem light to you. But give it some time. When I started with weight training I had one pair of 2kg dumbbells and 5kg dumbbells. The 5kg ones seemed to be really heavy. Now I can pull up at least 8 times my own body weight. So you will get much stronger over time and you will have to upgrade your equipment eventually.

  • HI!

Hi! I love you site! And you really motivate me! Big fan! But..

I have been working out for over a 1 year every day, but I don’t see results. I have been working out about 2 hours every day, I go for atleast 5 runs every week, and eat healthy. But maybe not healhty enought. could you recommend a diett to gain some waight, but still be healhty?
I want to be a dancer, and I was wondering how long it took you to get into that shape?
I really need some encouragement! I have a very skinny body, but I want muscualar defenition and lots of flexibility! And I need it fast…

Thanks! Looking forward to hearing a reply.. :)

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi,
You said that you workout 2 hours every day, what kind of workouts you do? What does it mean exactly ‘I eat healthy’? how does your diet look like?

  • Marit

    Hi!
    Thanks for answering!
I start my workout by running for about 30 min, than I do 200 sit ups and 50 push ups.
I than do ballett for about 1 – 2 hours (lots of stregth exercises) and streching at the end. I eat eggs for breakfast, and organic oatmeal for lunsj, with bananas. And I only drink water. I eat only fish potatos or rise, and vegitables for dinner. I have been taking your advice on eating more times a day, and smaller portions. I waight about 50kg, and I am 1.70 tall. But I am skinny built, and want muscular defenition.
How many hours do you workout a day? Do you recommend any workouts from this site that I can follow regularly to see results?
Is following a strikt diet very important?
What do you recommend me eating?

(I know there were many questions here, but I really need some advice!)

    Thanks alot!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Marit,
I have posted a lot of articles and videos about clean eating so if you just go through them you will learn a lot. I don’t workout for hours every day :) I spend usually about 20 to 30 minutes a day with my training and when I do light workouts with a lot of reps and sets it is usually for an hour max. It is all about frequency. You can combine all of my workouts and do something different every day. Keep an exercise log to see how much weight you are using, how many reps and sets you do and how intensive the workouts are. Keeping track of all those details is very important because this is how you can find out if you are making progress. If you are getting stronger, faster, flexible and agile – you are getting fitter.

  • Barbara

    Hey :-D

I live in Canada, Quebec, near Montreal city. I was wondering where you bought these equipments? Is there any shop that you believe that exist to buy those? Or should we really have to buy on on-line? If so, which website that you recommend? I found the “Sport Expert” Shop but it doesn’t sell dumbbells or barbells.

    Arrg! Lol

I know that as beginner, I don’t really need those equipments (only three things that I know where to buy) but I would like to be prepared for future reference.

    Thanks, if you answer. :-D

    Barbara

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Barbara,

you can buy dumbbells, step, skipping rope, yoga mat, balance ball and medicine ball in any sport store, but you might want to check ebay as well, because sometimes you might get a really good deal on different exercise equipment. I got some things that I have in garage sale, and I think that it is worth buying used equipment except when you are looking for an exercise mat :)

  • Barbara

Lol OMg! Thanks for the ebay!

And for the Sports Store, duh! We could find it also in Sears. Sorry, it’s all new to me.

    Thank you soo much. :-D

  • LeAnne

    Hi Zuzana,

Where did you get your clubbells? I really LOVE your clubbell workouts.

    Thanks in advance!

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

Hi LeAnne, I got it from Scott Sonnon’s website. He has posted his links on the latest kick ass challenge.

  • Lisa

    Hi Zuzana,

I wonder if you’ve tried the TRX suspension training system?

I bought it the same day I found your website, and have since been following your body-weight workouts, etc. Since your workouts are all home-based, it would be great if you used TRX and could post a workout you use, since TRX can be used anywhere.

Thanks for all your great workout ideas and posts! I look forward to seeing what you come up with next!

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    HI Lisa,
I have never tried TRX, so maybe in a near future.

  • Jennifer

    Hi Zuzana,

Thanks for the great workouts. What brand of jump rope do you use? I bought an inexpensive one recently just to get used to jumping rope with but would like to know what kind you use.
    Thanks,
    Jennifer

  • Marianne

    Hello!

Thanks for a great site, I just found it and will definately be back. I have started exercising again a couple of months ago, and this site could be a great addition to that!

My question is: The exercises on your website – can they be done without warming up first, f.ex. different push-ups etc. Does the effect differ depending on whether you go for a run first or not etc?
    Thanks again :)

    Marianne

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Marianne,

You should do a short warm up before you start the workouts. I have a 5 minute long warm up routine so just click on the link or you can find it in Workout Routines page. You can also warm up passively with a hot shower. I do that sometimes.

  • Aly

    Hi zuzana,

I wanted to ask you…is it ok to work out on ur abs with a sauna belt. The the belt that cuts the fat. Cause i usually wear that belt and do my running/walking but i’ve been also doing my abs wearing that belt. I need your advice on wearing a sauna belt and working out .
    Thanks..

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Aly,

I think that the belts that make you incredibly sweaty are for nothing and it just ruins your performance. It feels good when you sweat during exercise, but it does nothing for burning extra fat. Sweat is your body’s natural reaction to heat – it is not fat that is melting underneath the belt. Our body is largely made up off water and that’s exactly what sweat is. You also shouldn’t feel hot when you exercise because it can just make you feel sick. Wear light and comfortable clothes when you exercise.

  • Emma

I know that you are probably used to dealing with folks that understand more of what you are talking about. For a long time I have been able to maintain my muscle tone fat to muscle ratio with riding horses, but have found in the last couple of years that isn’t enough. I need a workout that will help me get fit again and that is not too time consuming as I have MANY responsibilities. Please help.

I was wondering on your videos is “one time through” is that on time through all exercises that you are demonstrating in that video? Also, what is it that you are counting? Is that the amount completed in each interval? I am also having a hard time understanding the intervals. Could you please break that down for me a little more?

Thanks for your time and these videos… I hope to be able to understand what it is that I am doing better so that I can get more results!

  • Anita

hello :) I’m only 13 but i’m turning 14 this year in october and i want to find out.. about wat are the equipments dat u reccomend for me to get… if i follow ur fitness videos… but for my age.. oh n i weight 54kg..just in case if u need to noe.. becox i want to know about the dumbells kg thinging.. thank you :)

  • Ashley

    Hello,

I really enjoy your videos. I’ve recently taken up long distance running and wanted a way to do some strength training on the side. Your videos are great because they show exactly how to do the exercise. Anyways, I’m looking for an exercise mat, what thickness, style or any other characteristic do you recommend?

    Thanks!
