Diet Advice: Healthy Breakfast Recipe

My diet has improved since the last update that I have made about my typical daily diet in December. I pay more attention to my diet than I ever did before, because I realized what an important component diet is to your over all health and fitness in particular. I have noticed a dramatic change in my body, energy levels and fitness performance since I started to embrace clean eating principles.

Breakfast is probably my favorite meal of the day and I am already looking forward to it before I go to bed :) This breakfast consist of healthy ingredients and that are widely available. It is easy to make and it takes no time to prepare, making it a perfect recipe if you are on the run in the mornings. At less than 2 dollars a bowl it is more expensive than sugary cereals that are commonly found at the supermarket, but this added investment in your diet will translate to a healthier start to your day.

I hope you will enjoy this recipe and if you have any healthy recipes that you would like to share, please post a comment.

Best,

Zuzana.

    Good video!!

Another good recipe would be soy milk (or skim milk) + frozen banana (+ berries)!

  • Mauricio

Your breakfast looks delicious, but you look even more tasty.
With all due respect of course!!!
Thanks for all your tips and recommendations.

Hey, when do you take a tour through your place… it look cozy!!!

    Love you…

  • Caleb

    good looking breakfast.
I always have oatmeal, with about half a cup of milk and a teaspoon of maple syrup. and a protein shake mixed with a cup of milk. and a multivitamin and omega 3 supplement.
your breakfast seems to get all those things without any supplements you’re awesome <3

Can u buy Salba in Ireland? I used mixed nuts, seeds and dry fruit in my oatmeal…are mixed nuts alone better?

  • Yvonne

Weetabix (Wheetabix) with evaporated milk. So good. It’s made with wheat germ. If you live in Cali, can find it at a food for less

  • Jenna

Hi Zuzana! Love your site, and your simple approach to fitness/nutrition.

I am curious about your thoughts on the Warrior Diet, where you eat very little or nothing through the day, then eat a large meal in the evening?

It sounded terrible to me when I first read about it, but after going a few weeks now eating maybe a handful of nuts, some fruit and vegetables during the day, then eating a filling meal after my evening exercise, I feel surprisingly good (and have leaned out!)

    Thanks!

  • Brynnae

It’s funny you post this now, I just bought some GreensPlus Chia seeds about a week ago – I guess Salba is just white chia. I’ve read there’s not too much difference in the nutritional value and that Salba costs more because the Salba company had to pay lots for their patents and studies they performed to get the nutritional info… I’d never thought to put it in anything other than water so I thank you for the idea!

Question: How long would it say it took you to lose body fat? Weeks/Months? I don’t want to be discourage if I can’t loose some body fat in a week :)

  • Natasha

    Hi Zuzana,
I have started using the Salba. Thanks for the recommendation, btw. I was just wondering if you use the ground or whole seed Salba in your oatmeal. Thanks for ALL your tips and advice. You’re so inspirational!

    Sincerely,
    Natasha

  • Clarice

Your breakfast looks healthy, definitely! :)

For me, I have Organic AcaiApple Gronola with Pomegranate from Nature’s Path in Pure Harvest Oatmilk. I do switch my cereal once in a while for variety. I add lecithin and grounded flaxseeds into my bowl as well. I will try adding Salba and walnuts in the future. :)

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Natasha,
I am using ground Salba because apparently the whole seed just goes through your system and your body doesn’t get all of it’s benefits.

  • Nancy

Zuzana NO, it doesn’t need to be ground (like flax seeds do).

What I like to do : thaw (?) some frozen raspberries, drain the juice, put whole white chia seeds in it and stevia (trial and error for quantity, it depends on your personal taste) and let stand in fridge for the night. YOU HAVE RASPBERRY JAM in the morning !!

I also use as a “bond” (?) in my meat spreads (creton)

I like to put in my home made lemonade

Replace some flour in my recipes

    Sprinkle on salads

They also have recipes on the salba site

  • Jason

I usually eat 2 tbs of Naturally More Peanut butter made with peanuts, wheat germ, cane juice, flax seed, egg whites, and honey 98 calories, 10 grams of protein per serving. 2 sticks of celery and an apple. I don’t like oats too much cause they can cause me indigestion. If I feel like I need more calories I use a slice of millet bread.

  • Richard

    Z,
Aren’t you concerned about regular consumption of genetically modified foods like soy? Grains are a heavy item first thing in the morning too, no? (assuming that most of us eat breakfast before 11am)

  • Jamersgto

Hi Zuzana, I’m curious why you use soy milk? It goes through alot of processing. Please let me know your reason, as you’ve inspired me to eat clean and restart my exersicing. The reason why I ask about the soy milk is because I’ve always drank cows milk all my life. I’ve milked cows when I was younger and I know what processes it goes through. And it’s far less than the plant soy. Please get back to me, thanks n keep doing what yur doing!!!!

  • Janilyn

    hey Zuzana!
though i havent been tagging, i’ve still been patrolling your site often.
this is awesome breakfast! i love soy milk. i’m living in singapore and i havent seen salba in the supermarkets. i’m still looking, meanwhile is there an online website where i can get it from?

btw, thanks for constantly updating this website.really helped in my exercise regime. its really AWESOME! i can totally see changes in my body and my energy level from the first time i came here and was totally motivated to make some permanent and healthy changes!
    you rawk my socks! :D

btw, could you maybe put up some suggestions and recipes for dinner as well? because i tend to find it the hardest to eat healthy and yummy food besides tofu and fish ):
would appreciate some help to whip up a good dinner!
    Thanks a lot!

  • Jarred

Hey! This is the first time I’ve heard of salba, and I cannot wait to go pick some up in the morning! I’ve been looking for great nutrition ideas so I can get back into a completely clean diet. Keep them coming!

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Jamersgto,

why I shouldn’t be using soy milk? Because of some studies that have shown something that can’t be even proven? There are people who believe that soy milk is dangerous and people who strongly believe in healthy benefits of soy milk and other soy products. The wise people know that there is no radical answer to this question, because it depends on who you ask. I believe that if you think for whatever reason that soy milk is harmful, than you should not be drinking it at all. Many times people get what they believe in. I am trying to keep my mind open and focus on the good, positive side of everything. Thank you for your support and comments :)

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    HI Janilyn,

there are some websites where you can order Salba from. I don’t really want to point to any particular one because people might think that I got paid for this. I realize that this video looks like a commercial for Salba, but I don’t mind to give a little promotion to products that I believe are great. Actually my favorite mother in law told me about Salba in June :)
I am already planning a video about my dinner and lunch, so I am glad to see that someone is interested to watch it. I hope that you will stay motivated and keep going with your fitness.
    Thanks for your comment.

  • http://red-star.nl/blog John

Good breakfast you show us here. I always start with 4 dark sandwich with peanut butter, 3 oranges en low fat milk. After that, I have my work out.

  • Ravinder

Tks for the tips. I eat that too for breakfast but I use real steal cut oats and ground raw flax as my base with organic raw nuts as I love walnuts and almonds (not salted) I make it with water and not milk as I have the milk with my shake about 2hrs after (I workout about 1 hr after eating). I do love Salba but also like to change it up once I get bored with the taste, hemp is another one I add most days(shake or breakfast).

Can’t wait to hear about you snacks, lunch and dinner.
    Stay healthy and fit!
    Rav

  • Liza

That looks delicious! I may have to try it. I used to be vegan and had soy products daily. I never noticed ill effects.

What other changes have you made to your daily diet? You should do a “day in the life of Zuzana” episode!

Thank you for this website by the way. I’ve been getting advice from your videos since the old black and red layout. You’ve inspired me to stop taking a gazillion supplements and doing crazy fad diets. I’ve never felt healthier and stronger!

  • Mel Davis (Cutchswife from youtube)

    Hi Zuzana

Loving the new site! Much easier to navigate. What I wanted to ask is what other breakfasts are good? Do you, for example, have eggs or toast or other things than just oats? It would be nice to see a variety of breakfasts.

Can’t wait for the lunch and dinner menu too. I have never liked Soy milk so I always use Rice Milk. I have never heard of salba it sounds great! I don’t think we can get it in England though.
    Good talking to you

  • Hannah

I am not saying soy is absolutely BAD but I would suggest people do some research on soy. I stopped using it because I have some concerns about my thyroid (Im 41) and there are MANY people that can make a case for it damaging their thyroid. That urged me to do some research and I am now very careful about the type/amt I will allow myself to ingest. Just word to the wise–the soy market makes millions of dollars and it ain’t all good stuff. It is genetically modified to make many processed frozen foods/drinks–it’s added/hidden in SO many of our foods (not unlike hydrogenated oils) in names you would barely recognize as soy.
I have been using unsweetened almond milk (it lacks protein but does have vitamins. Protein powder could be added to increase the amount if one needed it).

My breakfast: I make steamed brown rice, add cinnamon, ground flax seed, a sprinkle of maple syrup, blueberries/blackberries and a splash of almond milk. I look forward to this like you do your breakfast–it is such a DELICIOUS treat!!
Fun Fact: Did you know maple syrup is full of magnesium? Of course u gotta use a lot which equals a lot of sugar/carbs to get the benefits;)
Oh and just bought a piece of equipment for pull-ups. I am even more dumbfounded and in awe of your strength, Zuzana! Wow–I mean, keep on inspiring me and others. Just when I thought I was in decent shape–well, this blew me away! I have new goals for myself! All the best!

  • Pryzmabs

Hey Zuzana great workout and nutrition videos i must say. Im a certified personal trainer myself and you show a lot of good body weighted exercises. I wanted to ask you where do you get salba at? Im pretty sure i can find it at whole foods but just want to make sure. I have my own workout/dance dvd you can check it out on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yARbR5D7m0k I think you will be very impressed please leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Im also a professional break dancer (bboy) so this is what i also do besides training. Talk to you soon take care =)

  • Angie

    Hi Zuzana,

How have you managed to stay fit when eating out? A lot of jobs today don’t allow us to eat whenever we want (zig-zag diet) or when we’re hungry. And so, when we get an opportunity to actually eat, we’ll run to the nearest source of food, which is often greasy take-out- something I proudly stare clear of. What would you advise in situations such as these, where eating clean may be difficult at times?

    Thanks, you’re an inspiration!
    Angie

  • Hannah

Oh and I forgot–I add whole raw ALMONDS to my brown rice breakfast :)
Last-I just started drinking a tablespoon of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar in 8 oz water with some Stevia for sweetening purposes twice a day. Supposed to help with carbs (glycemic/blood sugar and absorption and people have lost weight). Must be ACV with “the Mother” Braggs is ideal brand. Google ACV and you will see many positive results for folks using this. Here’s a study that was done: http://researchstories.asu.edu/stories/vinegar.html

  • Jan

    Hi Zuzana,
nice Video as ever. Some have already discussed about the soy milk, so i won’t. BUT isn’t the vanilla flavour coming with some serious amount of sugar?

OK, I have to leave a comment on soy-milk, but not my own. It’s from Mark Rippetoe, the author of the pretty amazing book “Starting Strength”. The comment is a little harsh, but it made me smile :)
    Here it goes:
Soy milk is essentially Coffee-Mate laced with estrogen, and is best left to vegans and other socialist vegetarian types that can’t bring themselves to eat the completely natural-for-humans flesh of our friends the Animals but who have no trouble with slaughtering trillions of our other friends the Plants and processing — in gigantic factories run by multinational corporations with shareholders that eat meat themselves — very selectively chosen components of their poor little bodies into gooey shit that humans have never had an opportunity to adapt to digesting. Why, eating such material, with its high levels of isoflavones, touted by gynecologists as tantamount to Estrogen Replacement Therapy (ERT), will make you grow boobs, and this will screw up the clean lines of this fine young man’s Under Armor. I recommend against it.

  • Christina

    Zuzana,

You must read “The Whole Soy Story” by Dr. Kaayla T. Daniel. Or check out her interview with Sean Croxton at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Profile.aspx?userurl=undergroundwellness !! It’s a must!

  • Chantz

Awesome. Just Awesome. I had never heard of “Salba” before. I am going to get some and give it a try. Further, thanks for your video’s. I have been, and am a personal trainer. I spend a lot of time motivating other’s, and yet, I often find I am the only one trying to keep myself motivated. Once I found your video’s on You Tube, when I need to feel motivated, or if I am struggling in any way, I watch one of your video’s. Your positive attitude, beautiful countenance, and intoxicatingly attractive physique picks me back up immediately.

THANKS FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING! YOUR NUMBER ONE MARINE FAN-

I appreciate your support, thank you very much for your comment :)

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Jan,

it is funny comment – that’s for sure :) However it shows that there are people who ”think” that soy milk is almost evil. Other people believe that the estrogen found in soy actually prevent from breast cancer. So how do we know or how do they know what is the right answer? The answer is no body knows, but everyone has an opinion. There hasn’t been any prove what’s so ever that would clearly indicate harmful effect of soy on human body.

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Angie,

it is a matter of choice. If you choose to eat clean and avoid greasy ugly food, than you must have a plan. I read comments of different people every day, and lot of them will tell you millions of reasons why they can’t eat healthy or why they can’t exercise. People are focused on why and what they ”can’t do” and that kind of thinking makes them paralyzed. Do you want to be healthy? If yes, than why? If you have a good reasons for that you will find a way to live a healthy lifestyle.

  • Gary

    Hi Zuzana,
I really enjoy your videos and all the great information you share with us.
I am a vegetarian and I am trying to gain lean muscle mass and weight, before I join the military. I have heard that inorder to gain proper muscle through weight training, the old adage, “you’ve got to eat more calories than you burn” has to be followed perfectly -specificaly to the tune of 3,500 cal/day – Yeesh!!. OH! and I also run on an alternating schedule in between gym time.. so obviously my usual array of salads and fruits and organic dishes really isn’t going to cut it. In fact, I’ve incorporated lots, LOTS more pastas, pizza’s, lo meins, and just plain junk foods – cakes, cookies and ice creams in order to make up the difference. My question is basically, am I doing damage to my body, or is this really just a necessity of my ultimate goal – to get the most out of my workouts and produce a better physique overall

Keep up the good work. Look forward to your response and advices

    xx
    Gary

  • Kristina

Great tips, but be careful with soy products, especially women. Soy contains a lot of estrogen and too much can cause imbalances in women. My mother used soy products for almost 4 years in a row, then got a lot of problems with her cycle. They traced it to higher estrogen levels in her body and at the same time, they realized she had uterine cancer. It was directly related. So please, be VERY very careful…

I use brown rice milk instead or almond milk :)

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Pryzmabs,

it is a great video, thanks for sharing :) You can find Salba in any health food store and I am sure you can also order it online.

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Hannah,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience, and also for your support.

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Mel Davis,

I actually went back to peanut butter – but now I eat organic peanut butter and really only one spoon. So slice of whole wheat bread, 1 spoon of organic peanut butter and banana. Sometimes I do egg whites with veggies for my husband, but I prefer something sweet in the morning. When I was a kid I always had some pie or sweet biscuit with tea in the morning so I guess that sweet breakfast became a habit.

You could probably order it online, but the cost of the shipping might be even more than the product itself. If you find Salba in England, let me know so that I can eventually pack some Salba with me the next time I go to Europe :)

  • pryzmabs

Thanks for the comment. Glad you enjoyed my video check out all my other ones when you get some free time. Just type in BBoy Prizm or my bboy crews name Ground Zero Crew. You really are cut up like no other but at the same time you look great =)

    Hi Zuzana!

Thanks for this great, great site! I am here everyday – looking for another workout to try :)
Still talking about milk – i am using organic oat milk – Oatly, its full of minerals and vitamins, low in calories and fat, taste so good a little bit sweet, but im not sure if you can buy it outside Europe… but if u travel here sometime, relly suggest you to try it! :)
Best wishes and greetings form Latvia!

  • Nancy

From an excellent book I have read : The Paleo Diet (diet as in “what you eat everyday”, not specifically to lose weight)

Most legumes are concentrated sources of both lectins and saponins. These toxic compounds serve to prevent predation by insects, fungi, bacteria and other organisms. The problem is that saponins bind cholesterol in the gut membrane to create pores in the gut (intestinal permeability)

Intestinal permeability allows toxins and bacteria to breach the gut barrier and gain chronic access to the immune system. This abnormal situation may stimulate a confused response seen in autoimmune diseases where the body’s immune system has lost the ability to distinguish between the body and foreign invaders, such as microbe or food antigens. Approximately 33% of autoimmune diseases present with a leaky gut.

    …just saying.

Oh, and everybody should read or at least get information on this “diet”.

  • Angélica

    Hi Zuzana,

I work in a restaurant from 6:00am until 2:00pm and I have the hardest time finding anything healthy to eat from their menu. I started packing drinks like Ensure and Boost to take right before my workout and then I usually have a smoothie at home, around 4, followed by dinner at 6:00. I don´t like the idea that those drinks have ingredients like corn syrup among other things that have never even heard of.

I just ordered Salba on-line, but I was wondering if there is anything else you know I could add/ change regarding my eating habits.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. You are my inspiration to work out.

  • http://bodyrock.tv Tania

    Hey Zuzana,

THANKS!!! You are very inspirational to us all. My husband actually comes home from work everyday and asks did Zuzana kick your but today? And of course the answer is always, YES. I have my 13 and 9 year old doing your 20 minute cardio on a daily basis and they love it!

I have a couple of comments you may find helpful if interested. I do a lot of research and subscribe to medical magazines. I think your eating plan is fabulous and it shows just by looking at you that a clean diet WORKS. However, if you want to take it a step further, your quick oats should be substituted by Old Fashioned oats or Steel Cut Oatmeal. Sure, it takes approx. 20 minutes to cook but the benefits are incredible. If the early morning ritual is too much I suggest investing in a $10 slow cooker that can prepare your oatmeal overnight and it will be ready for eating as soon as you wake up. Add fresh blueberries and strawberries for added antioxidants. The other suggestion is to eat your nuts (raw) not roasted. The roasted process releases carcinogens in nuts that are harmful. This medical advise has been given to me by some acquaintances of mine who are recovering from breast cancer. I figure it is information that should be shared with you and your fans since you care about what goes into your bodies. I also think that you are smart in eating only organic nut butters since they are grown in different environments than regular nuts which are processed regardless of the mold that may accumulate on them from the moist conditions under which they are planted. JUST WANTED TO SHARE SOME STUFF WITH YOU. THANKS AGAIN!

  • joedzilla

Great! I love that kind of breakfast, I have it very often, but my favorite is egg whites with spinach/peppers/onions, a cup of coffee and a small fruit.
Anyway, this is great, tasty and mouthfull. I also get some sliced apple in the bowl! ;-)

  • Natasha

You’ve shared some great recipes, Zuzana. I’m always looking to try new and different things. Thought I would share one of mine for anyone who’s interested. I’m hooked on this shake. It’s filling enough for a meal. Yummy too!

    Add to a blender:
    -1 banana (ripe is better)
-3 handfuls of frozen berries (I use a raspberry/blueberry/blackberry combo.)
    -1 Tbsp. ground Salba
-1 Tbsp. flax oil (I’m in So. Cali. and buy this at Trader Joe’s)
-Light Vanilla soymilk (or WHATEVER floats your boat i.e. skim milk, Almond milk) to just cover the contents.

    Blend to a smoothie consistency.
    Enjoy!

  • brian

oats are by far my favorite breakfast food. i love them because theyre slow digesting and if i wake up starving, i can get in my cardio without suffering an insulin spike pre-workout. ive never heard of salba, but im always looking to fine tune my diet. thanks for the tip zuzana!

  • Brittany

Hey, I love your site. Would it be possible to post a video about what you eat for the rest of the day. Thanks so much!

I love your diet tips! :0)

I have the same breakfast, but I even take skim milk and add some banana or berries. Or take some melon…

I live in Europe and I don´t know salba. Where can I buy it?

Do you eat the same calories through out the day ( every meal the same amount) or you eat more calories at breakfast?

Another thing you eat like vegetarian, is it a choice or you just don’t like/need meat?

Hey Zuzana! I eat the exact same breakfast as you!!!! Oats, Salba, Soy milk with nuts. The only difference that I microwave my oats before I add the other stuff to it. I also add a bit of Stevia to sweeten it up a bit. Good stuff!

thank you for this tip :) I will look for it here in Canada.

    Hi Zuzana!

I love your site. You look great!
Are you doing some fitness modeling?
I have to get back into shape and signed up for a 12 week transformation challenge. My ultimate goal is to be a fitness model/doing fitness model competitions.
80% is diet so I started to eat very clean. My breakfast is: 4 egg whites mixed with 2TB ground flax seeds and 1/2 cup oats. I cook this with cooking spray so I get a nice healthy pancake. Then I top the pancake either with organic peanut butter and a banana or with Greek strained yogurt and some berries. You should try it…it’s delicious!
Also wanted to ask you for a favor. Do you think you could post a video like the one you did in December about your diet on a normal day (what you eat on a normal day, all the 5-6 meals)? That would be great. I don’t know if you eat the same every day. I do eat the same more or less every day (just small changes like different fruits on top of my pancake). I only eat different on my higher cal. day once a week. One more question…do you use whey protein for post workout…or what do you eat after your workouts? Thanks and keep up the good work…you are such an inspiration and motivation!!!

  • Travis

    Hello Zuzana,

I am going in the morning to try to pick up some of this salba. I did some research and there are salba seeds and salba powder, and I read somewhere that some people just eat a serving of the salba seeds by themselves as part of their regular breakfast. Do you think this would work as well as mixing in with oatmeal?

I don’t know why, but I have never liked oatmeal, but am starting to do things like egg whites and plain wheat toast and bananas or granola bars and things like that for breakfast. Thank you so much for all of your help with these workouts and diet advice. I’m really hoping to get back in Shape by late August when I go back to the beach again!

    Thanks again,

    Travis

    Hi Travis,

Salba can be used in any food. I like to use Salba even in salads. I don’t have any experience with the seeds, but I am guessing that the difference is minimal. Just make sure to ask at the store about the difference if there is one. I am glad that you are enjoying the site ;)

    Hi!

I talked to corenaturals and they told me that salba is not available in Europe. But European can order a full case (12 units) in the USA.

    Regards from Germany! :0)

  • Teiste

I congratulate you for this video!I do follow almost the same breakfast that you do but with some quinoa and oatmeals.I hope that ppl could realize how important is the diet not only for their physical being for also for their mental and even spiritual health.
Thanks Zuzana and greetings from Spain!

  • Nancy

To the ones who really can’t find SALBA or find it too expensive, I just want to tell you that it’s WHITE CHIA SEEDS. I,ve been using for years and it does the job just as well.

  • Marielle

    Hi!

Thank you so much for the tips. I am training for a very long time and hope to look one day the same as you. I am a 31 year dutch girl, but I live in Singapore for the last 2 years.
Do you also take protein shakes between your meals? I also follow you on twitter!

    Thanks,

    Marielle

    Hi Marielle,

I don’t drink protein shakes and I don’t eat fat burners :) I just follow clean eating.

  • Robinne

    Hi Zuzka!
I wanted to ask you about the sugar in the vanilla soy milk. I’ve just bought it (but unfortunately not the low-fat, it seems that in the Czech Republic they have low-fat soy milk only with no flavor). It’s very good and also very sweet. Do I have to worry about the amount of sugar in this milk or is it okay for the diet?
    Thank you very much!

(Doufam, ze jsem to napsala alespon trochu gramaticky spravne :D).

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    HI Robinne,

there is a lot of sugar in the soy milk so you should be careful with that. I have soy milk only in the morning with my oats. The soy milk is not even that important if you have Salba which is great source of protein, vitamins and minerals.

  • meryt

hi, i live in italy and prefere italian breakfast: caffelatte (fresh milk and coffee) + 4 whole wheat biscuits for people with diabetes (not sweetened with glucose) + one fruit or some fresh juice.
About the milk, i read here some comments about soymilk being dangerous. Well, here in Italy by now it’s great fashion to say that cowmilk is unhealthy, and could lead to ostheoporosis. So, as you already said, there’s nothing sure about this. I continue drinking my cowmilk because I love it, when I will be given scientific proof that it is harmful I will change my breakfast.
Sorry for my english, and keep posting new workout videos, ’cause I love your routines!

    Hi Zuzana,

My wife consumed soy milk and other soy products for several years and her doctor believes that it caused trouble with her thyroid. She now has to take medication for it. We now drink rice milk. Have you tried rice milk, or do you have information about it?

    Thanks,
    Dwight

There are so mant negative comments about soy milk and soy products. However, I don’t recall hearing/reading such comments in Asian-centric websites where soy is a major part of our daily diet. The Japanese eat lots of soy eg tofu, but they have one of the longest life spans in the world. Contradictory, isn’t it?

  • Alfiya

    Hello Zuzana,

Thank you for the wonderful breakfast recipe. Could you please tell me the brand name of oatmeal you were using in this video?

    Thank you!

  • Stephy

    Hi Zuzana!
I live in the US and was wondering what type of oats you were using in the video? I have never seen oats like that that can be just poured into milk cold and eaten. Thanks so much for the recipes! They’re all really yummy, and more importantly—I feel good after I eat them because I know I am not eating something that will harm my body. :o)

Where can i buy Salba in Orlando, FL?

  • Sue

Your breakfast receipe that includes SALBA, is that the ground kind? Where do you buy yours from? I am in Orlando, FL and they have whole or ground, which one are you using?

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

Stephy, the oats that I am using are called quick oats, Equality brand. They are made of rolled oats.

love it! I do this with my porridge oats, while they are simmering i’ll drop some dried nuts and fruit in, tastes sooo good!

  • Elsa

Zuzana, breakfast is also my favorite meal of the day. I sometimes have breakfast for dinner, which can be an egg omelette with vegetables like spinach, tomatoes and onions. Or sometimes I add finely chopped broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes and carrots. It is oh so delicious when I don’t feel like having chicken or meat.

  • Luci

    Hi Zuzana and everyone,

For those of you who live in Europe and want to get Salba, it is not yet distributed in Europe, but you can buy it as Aztec Gold seeds, it is easier if you are inside EU, I live in Croatia and I had to pay customs and prove to the Customs office that it is not a drug and that I will not plant the seeds and sell it:)
    Hope this helps…

Salba is not allowed in the EU! :(

  • rudi

The import of the seed is forbidden because of the novel food treaty.

  • Andras

    Hi Zuzana,
I am dieing to try this recipe, but i can’t find salba anywhere in Romania…i’ve checked all food stores and stores that sell natural foods and it seems that no one heard of salba….any tip as where to find salba?

  • lin

I tried Salba for a month now. I really love this product. I have much more energy during the day. It helped clear out my acne. :) Thank you so much for recommending this product to us. Now I can’t live without it. Although it’s expansive, but it’s really worth it.

  • kitty

Correct me if im wrong, but i think salba is also noin as chai seeds??

This maybe the reason some people are finding it difficult to find.

I live in Australia and hear it is sold as chai seeds, not salba

  • Diana

Do you warm this up or just eat it like that? I you do warm it up, How long?
    Thanks!!

  • Ren

I love how as I am watching this, Pizza Hut flashes an ad over the bottom of the video. um… Epic Fail.

  • hipretty

Hi zuzana, do you still have the psylium or does the Salba eplace the need for that due to the fiber level?

    Thank you.

  • MickCorgi

    Hi Zuzana

Enjoyed your video. I’m Asian and have lived in England, Germany and West Coast US for some years other than my home country Japan. During those times, I dined with people from various races, cultures and food habit. But now I came to a conclusion:

Modern day humans are rarely out of vitamin&mineral deficiency.
So I do not care too much about factory made nutrition fortified food.
What’s most important for anti aging is to take over 5,000 types of live enzymes daily. Look what Gorillas eat – Nuts and Fruits.

I personally believe humans can live without meat & vegetable but not without fruits.

  • mijizanine

Thank you so much Zuzana for ALL of your videos!!!

This is a good version of this dish. I am changing two things to this recipe. Drop the salt (soy sauce and salted black beans gives it enough saltiness), and add more chicken broth to 1/2 cup. I had black bean paste and it worked just fine in place of the salted black beans

  • Stover

I recently tried your healthy breakfast and was superised to find it actually tasted pretty good. I’m not a fan of soy milk, but the quick oats soak that right up. I think the key is getting a nut mix with raisens and “dried cranberries”, it gives you the flavor of sugar. I couldn’t find Salba, so I used ground Salva. Is there a real difference. The price was about the same too.

I kind of stumbled across your videos looking for health and fitness tips. I’ve kind of gathered an array of health and fitness tricks over the years, and what you preach seems correct, so I believe you know what you’re talking about.

I eat pretty health, but am really interested in your recipes because they are stuff I really haven’t thought of. My girlfriend is finishing school in Sweden, and has be introducing me to things I don’t normally use like Tumeric. and she’s always telling me to make sure I eat fiber, lol. So hopefully I can clue here in on some new stuff you use. I’m going to try your Quinoa salad next.

Saw the video of you and your husband walking up the volcano, LOL! I was thinking, here they are with all these health videos and they’re going to go suck up some volcanic ash. Go for you in getting the hell out of there. Your husband’s comments were cracking me up. Chalk it up as experience and cut your losses.
