Recipe For Vegetarian Pita With Garlic Green Peas

For this recipe you will need a whole wheat pita, veggie burger, ground pepper, mixed green salad or lettuce, red onion, cucumber, and alfalfa sprouts. For the garlic green peas you will need a can of organic green peas, 2 cloves of garlic, salt and 1 spoon of olive oil. The veggie burger that I bought was made mainly from lentils and it has virtually no fat and it is high in protein. The veggie burger is actually cheaper than beef or chicken. The taste is different than meat, but I enjoy it and I think it is an excellent low fat substitute for meat products. Of course this pita recipe  will be very tasty with meat as well, it is just a matter of your personal preference.

Enjoy :)

Zuzana.

    Hi Nancy,
that is a very old top, that I have for years and it has already some holes in it, but I still love it :) I still remember where I bought it. It was in down town Prague at clothing store called Janis.

Hi Zuzana! I tried your pita sandwich made with half chicken breast and it was amazing! I have been eating smaller as of 4 months now and no longer feel the need to eat the entire thing! But this was so good, i was tempted ;) I was wondering if you come up with these recipes and just make yummy things like this for yourself most of the time or if you find them and change them to your liking. The pea paste was extravagant and its better than hummus!

    Hi Amanda,
I am glad that you like it :) I do yummy thinks especially for my husband who is quite picky when it comes to food, but I do search for new ideas all the time to get inspired. Most recipes are very complicated and I prefer recipes that are simple and easy to prepare, so I always have to come up with a way to simplify these recipes.

    Hi Zuzana,

I have to tell you that the addition of these nutrition videos have been very helpful and useful for my daily diet. I would like request, if possible, that you add a list of ingredients (size portion) on the side of your video. The measurements are critical to enjoying the great recipe’s you share, and I would like to have these listed if it is at all possible. Thank you again for sharing your physical and dietary videos and suggestions, you are truly inspirational and look absolutely amazing.

    Best,

    Todd

LOL! I love the accent. “Veggie borger”. How cute! I have a recipe, but I don’t use qty’s if you like it, try it, and put it on the net with qty’s.
saute covered skillet: minced garlic, thick chopped onion, and diced potato in olive oil.
when onions are soft, add green beans, curry powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper (it’s the only pepper that isn’t and irritant to the body), salt, diced tomato-med, diced red pepper, kidney beans. Add a little water cover and cook til potatoes are soft. Check every so often for water. Lastly, put chopped cilantro let simmer without top for few minutes and cool. There shouldn’t be too much moisture in the bottom of the pan when finished cooking. Take 1/2 cup of brown rice and 1/2 cup of mix and enjoy….

    Zuzanna,

I love your recipes!!! I wanted to share one of my favorite super quick/easy/delicious/HEALTHY recipes.

Broccoli Soup. All you need for this recipe is broccoli and water! Nothing fancy about it.

Bring a pot of water to a boil, salt it, and soak a bunch of broccoli florets for 4 minutes. You need to be able to run a knife through it easily. All it takes is a 4 minutes swim in boiling water.

After 4 minutes, drain the broccoli (reserving about 2 cups of that same water), throw it in a blender, pour in those two cups of water it was boiling in(it should cover about 3/4ths of the broccoli) and blend to desired consistency. I find that the perfect consistency is about 30 seconds of blending. That’s it! Taste it (you’ll probably need more salt)

Voila! Incredible, appetizing, delicious, and filling soup. I learned it from chef Gordon Ramsey and you can even watch how he makes it on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mvc8Au4YO60 To garnish, he uses goat cheese and walnuts, but I never did and it doesn’t need it :)

    Enjoy! It’s amaaaaazing.

Hi. Great website. Congratulations and good luck.

Now, the question – more a clarification. Did you say vegetarian burger?? Isn’t that ‘processed food’? I saw some at Waitrose and they dont look THAT appealing..

    Thanks
    R.

    Hi zuzana,

do u have any dessert recipes that follow the clean diet???

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Maryam,

I will be doing more recipes once we move, because right now our kitchen is a disaster and I can’t even do more videos by the picnic table outside because of the neighbors :)
That said I don’t know any recipe for dessert that I could write down for you, because I haven’t look for it yet. As soon as we move, I will be firing diet videos like crazy – I love it.

  • Maryam

hahaha. zuzana, i can just hear the enthusiasm u have thru ur words =)

i will b anxiously waiting for more of ur recipes!

  • Megan

    Hi zuzana,
This may be off topic but I love Burgul and I was wondering is it bad if I eat it everyday for dinner? I am asking because I know it is high i carbs and I am trying to lose weight so should I stay away from it?

  • Isabel

I tried it and I loved it! Thanks so much, sometimes it’s difficult to find healthy recipes for vegetarians.

  • mary

  • gaurav

its a great recipe for the veggie people …

  • asja

hi zuzana, i cna’t see neither of your videos, i only saw you on youtube! why does this happen? because i’m out of usa? i’m so sad..

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

Hi Asja, you have to reset your browser.

  • hipretty

Yumm the green pea mixture with the cumin and garlic looks almost like a faux guacomole…witha LOT less fat (although avocado IS a healthy fat!) is this what this tastes like?

Also is there anyway you can post the name (brand) of the burger please? I am thinking this was filmed while you guys were still in Canada. We are Vegetarian family and thinking of taking a trip to Canada and I would like to be able to know what foods are safe for u to shop for…but I cannot find the names of Canadian brand veggie burgers when I google them, and I hear our brands are not there. I would like to try one mostly lentil, especially if I can research if it is Gluten free.

    Thanks!

Blessings and I hope you are enjoying your new magnificent views!

    Hi Zuzana,
I found this recipe for Home-made Black Bean burger on http://jessissinging.blogspot.com/2009/12/sick-day.html and at http://www.katheats.com/?p=15824. I made it about an hour ago, it was my first veggie burger. It tasted good, maybe you can give it a try and maybe adjust it to what you like. This recipe makes 2 burger patties and is as follows:
    # 3/4 cup black beans, drained and rinsed
    # 2.5 tbsp whole wheat flour
    # 1 sprinkle garlic powder
    # 1 sprinkle cayenne pepper
    # 1 tsp EVOO
    # 3 glugs Worcestershire
Mash together, form into ball, split ball in half, form into patties, sear in a skillet with some cooking spray until lightly browned.
And one patty is about 90 calories. Enjoy.
    Nic.

Thanks very much for sharing this interesting post. I am just starting up my own blog and this has given me inspiration to what I can achieve.

  • http://www.pakistanikhana.com/ Sheer khurma

This is a good version of this dish. I am changing two things to this recipe. Drop the salt (soy sauce and salted black beans gives it enough saltiness), and add more chicken broth to 1/2 cup. I had black bean paste and it worked just fine in place of the salted black beans
