Workout For Absolute Beginners 2/6

Part 2 of this workout moves down to floor exercises, so you will need your exercise mat. The first two exercises will work you upper body and the third exercise in the sequence targets your butt, legs and core. When performing the upper body exercises, make sure that your lower back is pressing into your mat and your abs are engaged. A good tip for the third exercise is to keep your back straight and your abs tight. You should keep the glutes and the rest of the muscles on your extended leg contracted when performing the leg raises.

    Dear Zuzana,
    I’m a 28yr old female who wants to lose about 40pounds. I was able to watch your beginners workout routine (looks great), but I still have a couple of questions for you. First, for someone like me who’s a beginner and who carries her weight on upper body, what would be the most effective way for me to 1)change my diet? 2)shrink the fat from abs, breast, arms, upper back without looking bulky? Thank you!

    I Yve, you have to reduce your body fat. Please read my Fitness F.A.Q on How To Reduce My Body Fat. If you want to get slim and tight without getting bulky, you have to change your diet and exercise.

    HI Inna, you can’t really do anything about your chest unless you want to go for an augmentation, but you can shape up your butt and tighten your waist with exercise.

    Hello Zuzana,

    You have the most cordial web site for fitness i have seen so far. Your videos are also good but i think an option to download them also would be useful as i would love to burn a 5 set total routine to a dvd and play on my tv so i could watch and exercise at the same time.     Suri, the balls weight about 1,5 pounds. If you feel like you can handle a heavier weight, then go for it.

    I am so glad you did these! I was wondering if this would be ok to start with? I have alot of fat that I have to lose & thought that cardio would also be good. I am thinking of doing one of your workouts the first day & then doing something like the jump rope the next. Then every other day I ‘ll alternate.

    Here is an example of what I was thinking ….. day 1 workout one
    2 bike route
    3 workout 2
    4 workout 3
    5 jump rope for short fast bursts for I am not sure how long yet I ‘ll have to see
    6 workout 4
    7 walking or hiking maybe another bike trip

    I have been trying to keep myself interested while getting results as soon as possible. I have been changing my diet & eating habits as well. Just wondering what you think because on your example workout schedule, there isn’t much for a beginner to work with on making a schedule.(can’t please everyone LOL) So, I was wondering if this would be good. Let me know what you think because I really need to do something. I am tired of being fat & out of shape. “I love this & am very encouraged to GET OFF MY ARS”

    Hi Ironete,

    I like your determination and I like that you are willing to be active every day, because that’s something that will benefit you a lot. This workout is divided into multiple parts simply because it’s not possible to upload video that is longer then 10 minutes and because this allows me to update the site more often. That said, this workout is only one workout divided in multiple videos. So I as soon as I upload the last part of this workout you can incorporate the whole thing into your exercise program and you can do it like this:
    day 1 – Workout for absolute beginners
    day 2 – bike route
    day 3 – Workout for absolute beginners
    day 4 – 20 minute cardio core workout
    day 5 – Workout for absolute beginners
    day 6 – 20 minute cardio/core workout
    day 7 – walking or hiking maybe another bike trip

    Dear Zuzana,

    I’m 52 years and I sit in the office most of my time (up to 70h/week).
    The little time left I walk the dogs or play with my horse – no time for riding.
    To get back in shape I signed up at a fitness studio (and went there 3 times).
    Bought all kinds of DVDs for workouts – and asked my daughts boyfriend (he is personal trainer) to help me with a plan to get a line to start somewhere – he never did and I was so unhappy – until I found you!

    With time great Beginners Workout I will make it!

    Hi Zuzana! I did some of this video last night. I love your videos! I did the part for the upper body with the weights. Wow! I’m really weak because this was so hard! I was making horrible faces and horrible sounds when doing the scissors. My left arm could hardly lift the 5lb dumbell. My right arm must be stronger than my left arm because lifting the weight on my right arm was difficult but not almost impossible. My arms were killing me after. I’ve never felt like that. I’m going to follow your videos, you are amazing and I thank you so much!

    Welcome! Jump in and do the best you can – don’t hesitate to modify the workouts by cutting down the reps and or sets and rounds – make these routines work for you. Just keep going strong and put in your max effort each time. You will improve and get stronger given enough time and effort :)

    Hi :),
    thank you so much for this nice comment. Take a look at my daily workouts. That’s all I do during the week and it keeps me in really nice shape. I also watch how much I eat. My portions are small, but I eat more often and it also helps if I don’t eat after 7pm. It is tempting to use food as quick fix when you are upset or bored, but that’s just a bad habit that you have to eliminate. Overeating seems to be the biggest problem for most people who are trying to lose weight. Follow my workouts and watch how much do you eat and you will be happy with the results.

    I used to work out a GYM, but it was always a pain to remember to bring the work out clothes with me to work (gym is close to work). So now I’m giving your videos a try and I find they do exercises I just never thought of before.

    I put on some weight over Christmas that is taking forever to get rid of, so hopefully with the help of your quick but detailed workouts I can get back in shape.

    I am 43 and about to turn 44 in a couple months.I ran across one of your videos on youtube and I am sure it was not by accident. I think you have put me into a mid life crisis (LOL) because I realized by watching your video that I am not 25 anymore. You have inspired me to not just let it all go due to age. I was really impressed on how quickly my muscle tone has come back. I watch your videos even when I am not able to work out because it keeps me motivated until I do have time to work out. You are way more inspirational than any store bought exercise video out there. You realy do have a way of keeping it real. Thanks so much for the inspiration and motivation.

    Thank you for your videos, you are truly an inspiration!!! I look at them and I think “I have to be like her!” (or at least try…) And I showed the videos to my girl friends too :)

    I have 3 questions:

    I’m 1,70m high and weigh 57Kg. I want to be in good shape but I’m afraid to get too skinny. Do you think I should do cardio exercises also or are your fitness workouts enough for me? Should I do them every day or is 3 times a week enough?

    I go to bed at aroud 1am every night. Is it ok if I eat my last meal at 9pm? I ask because I read you don’t eat anything after 7pm, but you probably go to sleep early, right?
