My First Wrinkle Cream

Every woman has to go through this – that’s life. Everyone copes with wrinkles differently, some people don’t mind it while others like me want to fight against it :) I don’t feel old at 27 and I am certainly not complaining, but this is just another area that I want to look after. I certainly never felt that taking care of your appearance and body is just a superficial pursuit. Every one feels better when they take care of them selves.

Up until this point in my life, wrinkles have never been an issue for me. I realized a few years ago that baking my body in the sun was going to lead to wrinkles later on, so I stopped tanning and started to protect my skin with sun block. I also gave up the stupid practice of social smoking and I limit my alcohol consumption to the occasional white wine spritzer. I feel like I have made very positive changes in my lifestyle  and I know that regular exercise and proper diet have a huge impact on the aging process. What I have less experience with are these creams and treatments for wrinkles.

I know that creams can work for acne, because I have been having problems with acne since I was a teenager, and I have tried a million different products and treatments that didn’t help. Just recently I found a product in Canada (viva Canada!) that has completely restored my faith in creams. This product has solved my acne problem, which gives me hope that there has to be at least one product out there that will work for wrinkles. My husband has his own take on this.

Frederick says:

First of all I am very skeptical about the claims these products make. In my mind these anti-aging creams are the not so distant cousins of those evil anti-cellulite creams that we all know serve absolutely no purpose other than draining the cash out of your pockets. I see the same kind of miracle claims being made on the expensive packaging of wrinkle creams – “visibly reduce deep wrinkles by 64.3% instantly.” Most of these cremes and serums didn’t have a tester on the shelf, but we did manage to find a tester for one of the most expensive products that was claiming to be an “instant” deep wrinkle filler. I told Zuzana to try it out on herself, but she didn’t want to ruin her makeup so instead she painted the clear liquid in the tester bottle over my laugh lines (I’m a young looking 34 btw ) I took one for the team on this because if we were going to spend the $200 sticker price then I wanted to be absolutely convinced this stuff worked. Ignoring the weird looks from the other shoppers, we followed the directions on the bottle, and 5 minutes later we were both staring at my face in the mirror waiting for the last 10 years to disappear. Wow I’m glad we didn’t spend that $200 because other than feeling slightly embarrassed that my wife applied anti-aging cream to my mug in the middle of the cosmetics department, nothing else happened. Don’t get me wrong – I’m not anti-beauty products. Like most guys I really appreciate when my wife dolls herself up – I appreciate that stuff, but I can’t stand when products make irresponsible claims and take advantage of people who are really just looking for help with a legitimate problem or concern. I will turn things back over to Zuzana now.

If you guys know about some great product or a home remedy that has helped you, I would really appreciate your advice. Also feel free to let me know what you think about wrinkles, aging and getting older in general.

Best,

Zuzana.

    Hi Zuzana!
Try ARGAN oil.It a very healty oil you can find only in Southern Morocco.Souss region is the only place where argan tree grow in the whole world. One litre of pure argan oil takes one year to make.Over there we eat it(dip),use it as cooking oil and women use as their powerful anti-wrinkle.Imagine how hot the weather is there all year round!I am from there and I DRINK IT.It’s so hard to do that with pure one.It has a strong smell. You can read a lot about it online but I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANY PRODUCT THAT HAS ARGAN AS AN INGREDIENT.May be a drop of argan oil in an ocean of water. If you got it by any chance put it in the freezer over a couple of hours,if it becomes frozen then it’s fake.Remember this is not Brazilian acai and no one can ship pure argan in huge amounts.RARE.

Roc and LaRochePosay are good brands for skincare.

You can do a filler in those lines. Those will totally get rid of them for months-years but you have to keep touching them up. Retinoids like tazarotene are less drastic but also work well. They repair DNA damage but also thin the top layer of skin, so it’s important to keep wearing sun screen. I use tazarotene and it works well on my forehead to get rid of those little wrinkles. Those are your two big options, most of the others are not proven to work. Tazarotene is by prescription only but one 60g tube will last a year or more b/c it’s very potent. Additionally, gaining a few pounds can also help if you think the weight will go to your face because the wrinkles that are troubling you are due to fat volume loss in your face. Fish oil pills are also great for your skin but I think those are more useful for texture and sheen than wrinkles. Good luck!

Please dont do fillers! It will erase those wrinkles for a while, but new ones will start to form right behind the place where you had it filled! I know from my own experience at 30 I foolishly thought I needed it and now it looks worse.
Jinak Zuzko diky za tenhle website! Uz podle tebe posiluju 3 mesice a uz mi jdou trochu videt svaly na brichu a trochu se mi zvetsil a zpevnil zadek!

    Hi!

I’m totally inspired by your fitness!I’m also 27 and this year I too noticed some unfavorable changes in my skin that required my attention! So I did a ton of research!I’m getting great results so far! I too have had issues with acne and I like my creams to be as natural as possible no parabens or chemical sunscreens only physical blockers: titanium oxide and zinc. Chemical sunscreens are unstable and turn into free radicals when exposed to sun, compounding the damage!! I also think a small daily dose of sunshine keeps the skin healthy!

I eat very similar to you, but lately I’ve discovered the benefits of Saturated fats, butter and Coconut Oil! Yum! I noticed that you try to avoid saturated fat.I know it is counter to popular belief but we need saturated fat to give our cells structure, without it they will sag. Saturated fat has been given a bad rap but it’s vital! Most people don’t get enough! Coconut oil (mainly medium chain sat fat) is a great source of slow burning energy, it has been shown to speed up metabolism and improve the immune system as well as so many other benefits. I have been eating it and putting it on my face lately and it is a wonderful internal/external moisturizer! I have lost a bit of fat since I introduced it into my diet.It protects skin from the sun and I also find it reduces my appetite. Make sure to get the organic, cold pressed virgin oil. Read more about saturated fats here:

    http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/skinny.html

I also found the best cream ever! It is pure as well, wonderful ingredients no parabens or junk. It has a great synergy of antioxidants, DMAE (firming) and trio-peptides, very good combo of natural and very effective high tech ingredients and amazing value. It’s only about $40 canadian. It has everything I was looking for after doing much research. It has a cheesy name but it is the most effective cream I have ever tried! It’s called “Feels Like a facelift” nighly renewal cream. I noticed my pores shrank, scars faded, and fine lines decreased within the first week!! Amazing!!I’ve been using it for about 5 months now and I still love it! I usually put it on after washing with a mild glycerine soap or oil cleanse then I apply a bit of coconut oil on top for extra moisture. Here is the link for the cream:

    http://www.naturalandhealthy.ca/facelift.htm

I also add minerals (to give skin building blocks) to my reverse osmosis water and I take fish oil supplements for omega 3 which has many benefits including natural sun protection for your skin.

My latest thing is facial excersises…I’ll let you know how this goes. I think the lines we get around the mouth are mostly due to sagging facial muscles. So far I think it helps!

Good luck to you, thanks for the awesome workouts!

    Renee

  6. Lorraine says:

I use an omega-3/vitamin d/vitamin a/vitamin e combination fish oil preparation by Carlson. Wonderful preparation. I take 6000 IU daily with no problem and my face always feel like a wonderful moisturizer on it and I am 48

Also, silica is important for collagen production and great for the skin. Unfortunately, we don’t get much of it, if any, in our diets anymore due to poor, big agra farming practices. My formula has bentonite clay and between that and the silica, it removes many toxins including heavy metals.

Don’t forget about 2 to 3 thousand mgs of vitamin c daily which is also important for skin and collagen production and healing.

Don’t forget, so much is related to genetics too but I would be sure to wear a sunscreen on your face and neck/D’ecollet’e that blocks both uv A and uv B. I like Dr Denesse. Even if it is cloudy and you are indoors…very important.

Don’t bother with the cream. Work from the inside out and creams won’t be necessary. I will trade you my skin with no wrinkles for your wonderfully physically fit body. Thanks for the great work out vids.

    Good luck.

I’ll keep it short – with a healthy lifestyle that you are obviously living, there is no need for making a drama over a couple of wrinkles. They do make a person look a bit older, but looking older doesn’t mean looking bad, I think women which take care of themselves just get looking better and better cause their face get stronger expressions…

I don’t know if that sounded reasonable, so there is one tip from my grandmother (she had real nice skin) – always wash your face with cold water.

    Love, Barbara

  8. Mel says:

Hi…I’m 14 years older than you and in amzing shape like you and very proud of it! Since my 20’s I’ve never been one to buy a lot of creams, potions, lotions etc because I don’t really want to add too many chemicals to my skin. One thing I use regularly though is Vaseline, yep, good old petroleum jelly. I put it around my eyes (skin only) at night, and on any spots that tend to be drier on my face. By the morning there’s no shine on my skin, but the skin is baby smooth. There are no dyes, artificil smells or preservatives in Vaseline. Keep on working out, eating healthy and you will stay young for a very long time!

  9. Mary Liz says:

Drinking pee is kind of gross, my dad once peed on me when I got stung by a jelly fish… it stopped stinging when he did so pee is good for something :D.

I don’t have as pretty of a face as you do, I don’t think you have wrinkles… your gorgeous! I was bitten by a rottweiler in the face when I was a teenager, broke my jaw, got a tent peg in my chin (in basic military training), etc etc OH, and I ate gravel w/ my face when MTN biking w/ my son a year ago. I’ve been pretty beat up, but I have so much fun the scars to me are just adventure marks.

To be honest, I am a huge believer in vitamins for the skin, just like we need them on the inside. I use a lot of apricot oils on my skin, and the scars I have are almost all faded. I’m almost 30 and people still comment on how nice it is I take my “little brother” places for my parents when really I’m his Mother Haha. I don’t know if it is genetics or if it is the apricot, but there is a lot of research on apricot oils healing the skin, and keeping your skin looking/feeling very young.

Hope this helps… sorry it’s such a late comment.

    hello,

could you please mention the name of the product you have used to treat acne?

  11. lisa says:

first off I want to say that I think your beautiful, and look very young. Im also 27 and like to use stuff that is easily found at the grocery store that give amazing results. I exfoliate with baking soda i add it to a gentle cleanser, works great! I use it for my body too. then I use organic apple cider vinegar as a toner, it burns a bit, but is the most effective thing I use for anti aging. then I use organic coconut oil with vitamin e oil as a moisturizer. I also take the apple vinegar internally as a health and anti aging tonic. I take fish oil and vitamin c suppelments daily, and eat lots of oranges! theses products used together have shown me better results then any expensive cream I ever bought ( I’ve bought alot!)
    good luck!

Hello I’m 35 going on 36 people have guess my age as low as 22 to 27. You need to start doing chemicial peels glycolic 40% or 50% peels, 15% or 18% tca peels these are deeper peels they all get rid of fine lines. I go to the health stores and buy this DMAE firming serum by reviva labs. Go to a doctor and get some Retinal cream this in the best for fine lines. Put that on every night. some of the thing you can buy at makeup artist choice this is the website http://www.makeupartistschoice.com/index.php?

Hi Zuzanna, first off you are gorgeous and truely don’t need a wrinkle cream. However, as a woman, I understand being highly critical of one’s appearance. Recently, I discovered Estee Lauder’s prevention creams. It smooths wrinkles and lines, and reduces the appearance of pores. A starter kick costs about $60; it includes daytime cream, nighttime cream, and a serum that is specifically for trouble areas (wrinkles and fine lines). Hopefully, you find this information helpful.

    Hi Zuzanna,

I think nothing from outside wil help to get rid of wrinkles. They are all temporary. The ONLY thing that wil help is RAW VEGAN RAWFOOD. Google 80/10/10 or dr. Doug Graham and find out other important benefits.
You do all te good things, your videos and your body are great, exept your food.
You could do more and look and feel even much better (you already lood very good) when you addopt this lifesyle. I think Demi Moore follows this diet/lifestye also.
It’ s just amazing and life changing.

    Good luck!!
    greetings from Holland.

I actually had a discussion w/ a guy at a health store I went to today about coffee and your skin. I only drink 1-2 cups per day and just started that this year…he said cut it. Eventually I may cut back, maybe stop. Personally on my face I use a hodge podge of things, but usually coconut oil. I take grape seed extract off/on (just got 2 bottles today). I’ve been reading about taking MSM in water, so I might start that soon. I think you are doing most, if not all the key things already.

  17. Andrew says:

dont use any of them they do nothing… it is merely a placebo.
but if you do want to get one
get a male anti wrinkle cream…they have less or no alcohol and there alot cheaper.
    check out nivea hydrating cream

    your work outs are insane

Hi Zuzana, love your site, you inspire me in every video I watch! I use a serum which is not sold in retail stores. It not only reverses the aging process but prevents it. You are very young so a great time to start. I am 45 but look much younger, so I am told by many. It is patented technology, that actually works and there are clinical studies to prove it.
Plse email me if you are interested. My website in not working right now, otherwise I would send you that :) Thank you for inspiring so many!

    Be well

  19. Dagmar says:

    Dear Zuzana,
No cream can stop your skin form getting older. A good cream can minimise the effects of getting older but cannot stop it. Wrinkles are the effect of a shortage of moisture in your skin. Skin cream ads moist and it looks as if the wrinkles are gone but those wrinkles are not the real deal, they are just markings of the loss of moist.
You need a cream that is good for your skin type, a wrong kind of cream can make your skin loose moist or add more wrinkles.
Personally I think it would be best to ask the advice of a beautician or someone who knows much about skin. Hydration is in my opinion the key word.
And if you wanne use something with Q10 in it you need to buy a bottle with a small pump because q10 reacts with oxygen and you want that kind of reaction on your skin and not in the bottle itself.

What your skin needs is quite basis so don’t be fooled by expensive words. I’m 35, I’m quite fit and I try to look after myself, clean skin etc. People tend to think I’m 25 or 30 but never 35. Maybe I’m lucky but I think that working out 6 times a week, plenty of water, cleaning my skin daily, using a good cream twice a day (morning and evening) and not to much makup does the trick.

Ow and I love your website, I use every workout you post and sometimes push a little bitt harder. You rock!

  20. Meredith says:

Cream is not going to help..you need to go to a doctor to get a filler like Juvaderm or Restalin injected in those folds. After going two or three times they will be gone ..but you will need to keep doing this about every four months. (since it is not permanent) Make sure you go to someone who is highley recomended and you will have great results!

  21. Judith says:

    Hi Zuzana!

I hae to agree with otheres here that Retin-A is a proven product. I am 45 and have been using the mildest prescription of Retin-A available with good results. I use the Retin-A at night with Clinique eye cream and sometimes Walgreen Alpha-Hydroxy cream (this is a drugstore brand that is 8% alpha hydroxy acid, but also moisturizes). I also use SPF sunscreen SPF 30 everyday with the Clinique eye cream as well. I’ve had good results with these relatively inexpensive products. (My insurance doesn’t cover Retin-A, so that’s the most expensive part of my regimen, but one tube lasts a few months.)

Hope this helps! Love your workouts and all of your videos!

  23. Memo says:

Don’t worry about your wrinkles, I don’t think creams will help they help to have your skin hydrated and that is it (my opinion). Don’t worry, you are beautiful and young, have beautiful eyes and healthy body, your mind should also be strong and think in your good things because there is no bad on you. see ya.

    Hi Zuzana,

MSM powder works really well for the skin – you can take it in a cream but it is also recommended to take it with water – internally – it’s a white powder with a slightly bitter taste. (methyl sulfonyl methane) – It’s a natural totally safe product. I have found that essential oils like lavender are amazing too.

    My best regards,
    Kristof

  26. [...] My First Wrinkle Cream | Fitness Advice, Workout Videos, HealthFor the most part, I agree with your husband. I don’t trust over-the-counter products to be my ultimate beauty solution. I recommend speaking with your doctor/dermatologist about a cream with retinol. Getting a prescribed cream with retinol.  And since you demonstrate a lot of your workouts out in the sun, use lots of sunscreen and wear makeup that is oil-free and contains sunscreen. You’re never too young to be concerned about skin care. Hope this is helpful to you. [...]

    Hi Zuzana,

Happened upon your ab video – you look great. Thought I’d look into the jeans mystery and found this.

A friend of mine is putting the finishing touches on her book about acne. It only uses stuff you get from the grocery store. My girlfriend loves it. I know my friend is looking for others to try it even before the book comes out. Let me know if you’re interested.

I get a couple of health newsletters and they don’t like sunscreens! They said they cause more problems than they help even before people started noticing Vitamin D deficiencies. One of them has an antioxidant supplement that fights sunburn, and I expect sun damage, from the inside.

  29. ozziepossum says:

Having read the comments here, I would have to agree that anything that is natural would have to be better for your skin than the chemicals contained in the numerous creams out there. But also, wrinkles are earned, and you shouldn’t be ashamed of them. I’ve tried Botox once and hated the way it felt, I couldn’t move my forehead for weeks. Never again. And, yeah, I’m 41 and I have wrinkles. And I’m proud of them!

I lived in the West Indies for a time and the islanders use Aloe Vera for everything. Even the local GP recommended using Aloe Vera for all ailments. I’m heading out tomorrow to buy myself an Aloe Vera plant!

Also, to much sun, to much alcohol and a bad diet contributes to bad complexion most of the time.

    Zuzana,

In relation to the wrinkles, I found this medical treatment called LEOREX. To be honest, I haven’t tried it personally, but I was simply amazed when I heard of it and saw some reviews. You may check in youtube, where you have an account and where I recently found you. Hope you are acquainted with the NANO technologies. Well, I pretty much think the nano technologies are our future, as those are involved in many areas in our life already and they keep progress successfully.

Also- respect to everything you do. You are very professional at doing workouts. You look fantastic as well. Please believe you are more beautiful than you probably think…like one of those perfect women in the video games:)

    Love you!

But to your wrinkle cream question. Try Royal Jelly, it’s a natural product and it’s a little pricey BUT it works wonders. i use it to moisturize, my mum uses it for her wrinkles & she doesn’t look a day over 30 (she’s 55); I usually buy mine from a local health food store or you could Google it!

Thank you! You are my inspiration for getting (and staying) fit and health!

  38. Vanessa says:

I am a makeup artist and used to work for a skincare line. I am also te same age as you and live in Canada. :) Right now it is about prevention, so sunblock on your face every day and a good eye cream. Eyecream is very important because the skin around your eyes is especially delicate and prone to damage and the first place on your face to show signs of aging. You don’t need and expensive one, some even have SPF in them which is kind of a bonus. You eat really well but a good multivitamin and omegas would help as well.

If you are looking for something to get rid of fine lines there are hundreds of products of all different price ranges and everyone will tell you a different one that they like. Moisturizers containing Retin-A (the acid form of vitamin A) is excellent. Look for it’s ingredient in creams. It can be called a variety of things, google it. It increases collagen production in you skin which is what keeps your skin plump, young and supple. Roche makes some moisturizers with Retin A, I know you can get it a lot of places including drug stores here in Canada.

Also, you could also look for moisturizers containing glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acids. You may like the glycolic acis because they come from fruit acids. They work similar to Retin A.

Okay, last thing. Exfoliation. Get yourself a scrub doesn’t have to be fancy I there are even ones you can make out of natural kitchen ingredients. This will get rid of the old dead skin cells letting the new healthier skin visible and will allow your creams to penetrate deeper.

I really hope this helps. I am sorry it is so long. I use these and always get told I look younger than I am. I also, learned some of these tricks from elderly women who look fabulous and have been using some of these methods since they were young. Good Luck!!!

  39. Crystal says:

One of my favorite things for keeping my skin smooth is the Clarisonic facial brush. It’s pricey, but a great investment. Your face feels baby smooth after using it! I have seen an improvement in my skin since I purchased it.

Hi Zuzanna…I know this video is kind of old, but I just saw it…first I will say that you are beautiful, and you’re going to be beautiful when you are 50 with lots of wrinkles ;) !!! I’m sure you know that though, and it doesn’t change the fact that you don’t like wrinkles and that you don’t want them! There are a ton of products by Vichy that are really good. I know you’re not in Canada anymore :( (I could tell you were in Shopper’s Drug Mart and I like the Tim Horton’s coffee!!! It makes me feel like you are just like me!) I don’t know if you can find that stuff where you live now, but it’s really great and not too expensive either. Anyways, stay pretty and not too wrinkly for a while ;)
