Our Kids

Our dogs are just like our kids. We love them so much that we sometimes treat them just like they are people. Freddy always says that Cali is ready to be a person in her next life. Charlie could be a male model. He is so pretty, but most of the time he has the funniest dumb look on his face – one of our favorite nicknames for him is Zoolander.

Cali

Cali can communicate just about anything. When she is hungry she comes to me and gives me kisses and then she  goes and pushes her bowl around with her nose. If she needs to go out in the middle of the night she climbs up on me and licks my nose until I wake up (for some reason she never wakes Freddy up). Cali is just the sweetest little thing ever.

Charlie

Charlie on the other hand can drive you crazy. He is constantly testing you, and he craves constant attention. He can be very vocal – especially when he throws attitude. If you tell him to do something like “lay down” chances are he will talk back to you – but only when your back is turned and you are walking away. It can be really funny sometimes. Towards the end of the day after his walk, Charlie starts to chill out and he turns into the sweetest and most loving creature in the world.

Oh, your dogs are so beautiful! I can tell from the pictures that they are beloved and smart dogs. I just love dogs. Me and my boyfriend have 3 the most sweetest and beautiful basset hounds. :)

I wish you a lot of happy times with your two little sweeties!

  • Kristina

your kids are so very cute! I know what you mean first hand about Charlie and dogs being vocal. Mine is the same way, very pushy and loud but it’s never barking! Just this…dog murmur sound LOL! He’s also my best friend but he’s getting very old and has back leg problems. When we go to the park and I do my run up a steep hill for cardio, the poor dear still tries to follow me but gets winded very fast. He just refuses to stay at the bottom of the hill and watch! LOL Dogs are awesome! Thanks for sharing these pictures :)

Oh, you’re kids are soooo cute!! I’m partial to large size dogs so I have to say that I like Charlie; Cali looks just as hugable. Our Maximus was 8 when he died in 2004 from liver poisoning brought on by one of those spot flea liquid drops,he got very ill. He was black, part labrador, part german shepard and we miss him very much. Some people have told us often to just get another dog. But, you would never tell a parent when their human child dies to just go get another kid. So we opted for a cat instead. She is a chocolate mottled Siamese, 3 years old; we adopted her from a lady that had her front paws declawed;so Maya is an indoor cat. She loves to literally lay against the back of the sewing machine while I’m using it and falls asleep. I think in her past life she may have been a seamstress, maybe she was Coco Chanel! LOL. Thanks for sharing those great pictures of your kids.

So beautiful. I can totally relate. My kids all have four legs and fur. A cat, two dogs, and three horses. They do keep us on our toes, but I can’t imagine life without them.

They help with workouts, too. I’ve done a lot of pushups with a cat latched around one of my arms, and my Min Pin thinks downward dog is an invitation to play. Every time I put out my mat, I have to fight for a corner of it, because they all think it’s their private bed.

Even with all the distractions, I’ve only once ‘accidentally’ conked my puppy with a dumbbell. He’s blind and walked into it. Best to keep them in another room when I’m using heavy objects, which is exactly why I’ve never tried kettlebells. :P

Also, because I work out in the barn, my horses are all now jump roop and hula hoop proof. And they’re used to seeing me hanging from the rafters. I have the most tolerant Arabians anyone has ever seen. :D

  • Stephy

They are so sweet. :o) What type of breed is Cali? I love dogs. I used to have a German Shepherd and a Black Lab and they both tried to talk throughout their lives. They would say as best they could in dog-speak, “I love you” and “hello” truly hilarious to hear. I miss them.

Awww… I love your fur babies! My husband and I also have fur babies and we also treat them like they are our real kids. We don’t treat them like animals. We also treat them as members of our family. Do you plan on having real babies some day? We’re still undecided. Our fur babies give us all the joy we need. <3

Hello! I just want to start by saying i am almost doing back flips right now having discovered your website. And it makes me feel at home. Everything is so self explanatory and easy to follow i think i have literally taken my two days off and went through the whole website and videos educating myself on fitness and diet. I love the fact that you and your husband take time out to give us feedback. I am 23yrs old and used to be in great shape i was a speed skater for the longest and then fell out of touch with the sport and got a little lazy. Although i have still maintained a healthy weight and still have muscle, i have bulked up a lot because I stopped exercising. i have been looking for the longest a site, an answer a person to show me how to get in shape in a fun and challenging way. Ugh! I love the outdoors and your routines are perfect for the sunshine and fresh air. So myself and my best friend Emma are ready to take are bodies to the next level and thanks to your website and guidance i can’t wait to see the results. We start Monday :) Once again thanks bunches!

  • Amy Marie

Oh ya, p.s. Charlie and Cali are too cute!

Hey, Just wanted to say hi and tell you that me and my future husband live a life almost like yours, love gym beeing fit and have a child of our own, pupufcu only it is a kitty. We both wish you future goodluck.

  • Lori

My cat is my Child she communcates the simlar way but she does talk in her own way that I understand. They are like humans, one women I met she took offense to me saying that my cat is like a little child that has feelings etc she went mental and attacked me personally. I don’t see why people make a big deal out of others seeing thier pets as a human they have feelings like we do.

  • Geddy’s Mom

I absolutely LOVE watching you interact with Cali and Charlie in your vids! Our pups are our “kids” as well. We have two golden retrievers who just light up our lives, and make it soo much more worth living. It’s nice to see other people who feel the same!!

By the way… what are their ages, and what kind of dog is Charlie? He has SOOO much energy :P

    Thanks for sharing!!
    Sandra
