Rock Climbing Lesson – Freddy Says Hi!

Hi Everyone,

Today we took an active rest day and went for our second rock climbing lesson. I took along our little ipod Nano to capture some video so that I can share some of our day with you. I know that the quality of the video is not as good as what you can usually expect, but we just didn’t have the option to bring the larger camera. I also managed to coax Freddy in front of the camera. We had a lot of fun today and did a much higher climb then in our first lesson. I wasn’t as afraid to make this climb, but both Freddy and I felt pretty nervous about stepping over the edge on the top of the cliff and abseiling down. Once I took the first step over the edge, it was just pure adrenaline – awesome!  I hope that you guys enjoy the video and I will see you tomorrow with another workout.

Best,

Zuzana.

  • Nicole D Lopez

    Awesome!
    I love rock climbing!
I’ve only ever done it free-style because for one I don’t like to be tied down and two I don’t have enough money to spend on the ropes and equipment. But this looks super fun!
And I’m glad we got to see the man behind the camera :)

    Have a great day!

  • Ashley from Canada!

Awww it was so nice to see Freddy! Earlier I thought I would attempt to persuade him in front of the camera by suggesting him to do a workout in the tuxedo if you guys were able to reach your next goal of visitors. But nope, got to see him today. You guys are such a cute couple! And I was smiling watching your video. Thanks for being the inspirations.

  • Taz

Why is it not working?!?!? NOOOO!!
I’m was looking forward to seeing this one

  • Margarita

    Hello, Freddy! :)

You both are awesome! :) I really enjoyed watching this video and I must admit, I was nervous while you were climbing up and descending the hill. This is deffineitely a great experience I would like to feel with someone one day! :)

    All the Best,

    Maggie

  • Taz

    Okay.
    Its working now.
Inspirational video, I’ve only tried indoor rock climbing but outdoor sounds like much more fun. Might try that when it gets warmer.
Its great to see Frederick!!!…you guys have matching sunglasses =]

  • Raina

hi zuzana and frederick! I liked to see you together =) Seems like you had a great time! I have a question, maybe stupid =) What do u mean active rest day? Is the day that you don’t workout? or you do something different but you put yourself in exercise? I hope you answer me =) Thank you a lot! bb

Ya’ll are sooo funny. I laughed watching the whole thing. Hey, Frederick, you still managed to get another butt shot of Zuzana. LOL. Good to see your face too. You definitely look younger than your age;just as Zuzana explained to us. Lucky you. And I kinda liked those funky looking rock climbing “ELVIS PRESLEY” blue suede shoes. Okay, sort of dorky, but cool. That looked like such fun I called out to my husband I want to try rock climbing next year when winter passes. He says he’d like to also, but I would have to do it without him. Are those people aware of your workout videos? Do they know you’re “famous” among the workout groupies? You should sale pink t-shirts with a Zuzana logo and say something like: “BEAUTIFUL AND BRUTAL”, or “PERVERTED PERSUASION” with a black and white picture of you in one of those great picture poses Frederick shoots. I’d buy one, only if available for size 42 woman’s chest. Or,available in larger size to wear as a nightie. Thanks for sharing your adventures and thank you for giving Frederick his spot on camera.

  • mauiswift

    Hi Zuzana and Frederick,

I am a recent follower of your website and following advice that you guys have been posting. Love this video, looks like such great fun. I am starting to use body resistence training using a local playground for pullups. I was so discouraged to find that I could not pull myself up!! I am in decent shape and have always exercised, but I really want to use your methods, man, those are tough. I have found a new appreciation for your work out methods, and realize they are not easy as you make them out to be!

  • Felisc

    huhu, hello frederick !
    cool video

  • Oyuki

that was cool! you guys make such a cute couple.
    thanks for filming this.

  • http://www.experiencerelief.com Kindra

    You guys are too cute!
Thanks for sharing your adventure with us! :)

  • TEXAS CINDY

Or, a t-shirt that says, “ZUZANA THE PUNISHER”. or, “I DAILY DO WITH ZUZANA”. or,”ZUZANA BURNS MY BUTT” or,”ZUZANA-TRY AND BEAT ME”. I think that would sooo cool if we get t-shirts like that.

  • pogo

Nice guts, going over the edge laughing like that.

36 feet at sea level is gets you close to maximum falling speed I believe.

(A 40′ extension ladder is one of a contractor’s most dangerous pieces of equipment.)

Terminal velocity it is called, the point at which acceleration is halted by atmospheric resistance.

That would be about 135 mph for a human being, depending on clothing, altitude and position. I think a spread eagle position with loose clothing flapping away can slow one down to the high 90′s/low 100′s. I’ve read that is one’s the best chance, not only does it decelerate by nearly 35 mph, it displaces impact as much as possible throughout the body. There is no way to impact on your feet at that speed without loosing your spinal column or on any singular point, best all at once.

There is a helmet-cam vid on youtube where a diver’s chute fails to open. The cam runs all the way to impact and beyond. He survives and doesn’t even loose consciousness. (Not for the faint of heart!) I have never watched it all the way through.

Used to think about that some on my job. I don’t go high anymore.

That ipod still takes nice video and audio too.

  • hipretty

I am surprised you don’t wear gloves dealing with all that rock. It seems you would get ripped to shreds trying to hold on.

Great job Zuzanna & Frederick, and glad you stole the spotlight long enough to satisfy our curiousity! :-D

  • Mandy

Yay! We finally get to see Freddy! Now all we need is to get him to do a workout for us! :)

  • Carla

hahahaha funny comment and spot on on the cleavage and butt filming Zuzana. LOOOOOL it is nice to enjoy your partner’s company like that :-)) reminds me of my relationship with my own husband. cooool :))

  • dan

Hi Zuzana!! I have been rock climbing for 6 years now. Once you get into it, it is the best body workout you can have. Yes even more difficult than your workouts, which are really, really hard. Your guide, let you use some really good gear!! I hope u keep up the climbing, so you will not need a guide. If you ever get to the states to go climbing, go to the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. Have fun!!

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Dan,

thanks, I hope to see that place one day.

  • EB

Hi Zuzana and Frederick… I think before you go to the States rock climbing swim :-) to Sardenia (you are in good shape so it shouldn’t be to hard for you :-D ) and have awsome rock climbing there. Lynn Hill (the first person climbing the Nose free) organizes some rock climbing courses there. My tip: check out Lynn Hill.. she made a great movie about the challenge climbig something never ever someone had climbed before and she is a big inspiration to me.
You are doing so well because you are in great shape and you have a good balance. Like the others I think that you will get sooo addicted to climbing! Everyone does! and once you develope more tecnique and don’t have to just “work hard” it will be even more fun because climnbing is challenging your mind more than you think: memorizing a route, solving problems and keep cool!
Well done you two! have fun… Esther

  • Nay

LOL, you guys are hilarious, I always laugh along with you both. Two beautiful best buddies :) Another great video, I look forward to watching them each day. I finally got around to doing the 600 rep workout on the weekend, LOVED IT!! Thanks again.

  • mausyo

This activity is more risky than simple workin out. It’s true nothing badly can happen to you because you have the safety ropes but you still can get injured. So take care :p

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Texas Cindy,

thanks :) T-Shirt? I had no idea that someone would be interested in that. We will look into this.

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    Hi Raina,

active rest day is when you don’t do regular workout, but you are active in a different way. We do the rock climbing once a week and we once a week. It can be anything that you do for fun to be at least little bit active.

  • lina Siegert

grade of that climbing route?? looks like an 8. … nice climbing!! best sport ever

  • http://bodyrock.tv N.

of course i would wear one of those T-shirts…

one model each day of the week!!!!

i want one! no, i want two!!! …..

    Nooooooooooooo…i want them all!!!!!!!!

  • nick from nyc

    Hi Zuzana and Frederick,

Great Ipod video! Lots of fun on that lovely island! That place reminds me so much of the coastal cliffs below Salerno, Italy. You guys have got to get there sometime;) Here in Manhattan we only have the man-made kind of cliffs, but they’re also a challenge-:) Upstate New York, on the other hand, has some of the best rock-climbing walls on the East Coast. Keep it coming!!

  • http://www.jsthorn.com Jean-Sebastien

Great to see you 2 guys ! I really enjoyed the video! Can’t wait to do some indoor climbing at first. In my holiday break ill prolly take some video of me training or of my active rest day :P.

Thanks Fred showing those nice climbing shoes hahaha.

  • Nick

“Or up my Ass” lol. Thanks for the laugh on a Monday morning!

  • Salma

    Hey Zuzana,

I have been following your workout for MONTHS but never bothered commenting… probably because each and everytime I would want to thank you for simply being you, and motivating others to move their asses and just plain easy- eat well! You are truly such an ispiration. I completely respect how you take your body to it’s fullest potential through exercise and following a healthy lifestyle. When I first stumbled upon your site I was so happy to have found a variety of “brutal” exercises- love them all, exactly what I needed away from my gym hours!
Okay no idea why I decided to comment on this video in particular, it’s about time though hehe. I am dying to rock climb!!!!!!!! Soon enough hopefully, does seem pretty damn hard with all those ropes tangled to you! And your introduction was HILARIOUS.
Thanks for sharing part of your adventure with us!

    Salma

  • Nick

Id buy a bodyrocktv shirt for sure. Not pink….

  • http://none Johan

    Hello Zuzana and Frederick.

Recently I stumbled over your video on You Tube. Looking at the video of your workout I’ve got interested in your other workouts and looked up your website. Many compliments to you and the workouts. I liked it so much that I was looking for the posibillity to buy a DVD of your workouts. Tip: You should make a full DVD with your workouts. Understanding that the way you’re hosting the website is more directly to the public. That’s great too. Keep up the good work and I hope that we can workout with you for a long time. Want such great shape too. Thanx for the inspiration, I think you get a lot of people working out like that. Thanx again.
    Greetings from the Netherlands.
    Johan.

  • GISELLE

    freddy is a hottieeeeeeeeeeee!

  • nini

Great workout. I have a question for you guys. I am pretty new seeing your website and I noticed that you guys took off the site where it shows all of the videos you have done, any reason why and will you put it back?

  • http://www.dailymile.com/people/GirlinYourShirt Jenaé Plymale

You’re both such good looking people! Glad to finally see Frederick. He’s been this ever-present mystery to me! He reminds me of Matt Damon with those glasses on. Maybe one day we’ll be able to actually see his eyes in one of these videos! Anyhow he always does a good job filming. =)

Looks like you all had fun!

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv muky

    Hello Zuzana & Fredy,

NIceeeeee. I also would like to do that once . Is it something expensive by the way ? Do you have to rent or buy the clothes, shoes, equipments etc. by urself ? what should be the everage budget for this sport , can you give some tips about that ??

    thnx and best….

  • Rebecca

Helllllllll no! Horrifying. I could never ever EVER! My palms were sweaty watching you go down!!!

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

    HI Salma,

thanks for taking your time to leave a comment. You should try rock climbing – it’s not hard to understand the equipment.

    Hi Zuzana and Frederick,

    Gees, T-shirts…what a good idea…now why didn’t I think of mentioning it…again! 8-)

Okay, now I see the devil in you, Zuzana, “up my butt”…I could see poor Fred blushing!

Should I point out there is such a thing as butt cleavage? So technically it could have been down either front or back Fred was talking about. Not that your navel is off the points of interests list either… Which brings me to why is it of late twinkling? An early Xmas present or just the angle of lighting?

And a Tee should have the http://www.Bodyrock.tv “logo”, an image of Zuzana and very short catchy phrase (which we could come up with I’m sure). All on the back with maybe a “Bodyrock.tv” over the breast on front. And pink isn’t exactly my first color choice either.

    Best wishes,
    –Chris

    Ahoj Zuzana and Frederick,

You two are so funny, I cracked up at the beginning of the video when you two talked about filming Z’s ass, HA! :)

It was great to see Frederick, FINALLY! I hope we get to see more of him, don’t be shy now ;)

You two are so brave, I don’t think I could do that, nope. It was funny that Frederick mentioned bowling shoes because a couple weeks ago my husband asked if I’d like to go bowling and I said no cuz the shoes are so tacky! Oh, and I’d be interested in a tank top if you guys ever do anything like that :)

    Děkuji vám,

    Ruth
(I hope I’m using Czech correctly, ttfn!)

  • Nicole D Lopez

    I would like a t-shirt!

    Good idea Texas Cindy :)

It’s nice to finally see Freddy. You guys make a cute couple. Maybe Freddy could do a workout too one day?

The O Face Workout doesn’t work it says its private

  • Gabriela

    Ahoj Zuzko,

  • BADE

Great video! Just like Ashley and many others commented, I smiled through the entire video. Also, it’s so nice to be seeing Frederick more often. :D Peace

  • TEXAS CINDY

  • Hblock

You guys are so cute. (:

  • Geodfreid-Manson

    Zuzana:
It’s great to see that you are not afraid to try new things, and more impresses me that you are rock climbing,(in fact when I was climbing, my best climbing partner was a lady)Back in my late teens and twenties I was a face, crack and sport climbing junkie and(Climbed like a spider monkey @ 5-12b level(5-13 was the highest level at that time) would climb at-least a thousand feet of granite a day for weeks on end.
I am 6 foot tall and at that time I weighed 156 pounds at 9% BFI(Body Fat Index)Then I got Married…..OOPs!!Now 20 years later she is exe’d and I now weigh 195 pounds and am @ 25%BFI,,,So now it is time for me to get back in shape.
So I have decided that I want to get back to about 10%BFI @ 185 pounds and I am looking at doing this in one years time if not sooner.
With a few small calculations I figure that I have approximately 30 pounds of fat to lose and approximately 20 pounds of muscle to gain.
So that is only 2.5 pounds of fat per month to lose and 1.5 pounds of muscle to gain per month.
I have been doing as much of your routines as I can (They are really kicking my Butt!!!!)for the last couple of weeks since I came upon your blog.
And am getting back to eating 5 to 6 times a day(the fat is already burning off)
So I figure with your continued routines, lots of walking(By the way I had a back injury a couple of years ago with bulging disc. But have completely healed that with the help of DNFT chiropractic and walking 8 to 16 miles a day(No surgery))I will get to go back to some climbing this spring…(I still have all my climbing gear so that will not be a big deal)So if you and Fredrick ever get to northern California I could take you out to some of the awesome climbing that we have available here.
BTW What better view is there than to be looking up the rock face with your female climbing partner on lead???I think the guys will know what I am talking about ‘)—–Climb on!
    Cheers
    Geodfreid.

  • K in Las Vegas

    Dear Zuzana and Freddy,

I just wanted to wish you both a Happy and Healthy 2010! I recently just started following your workouts and posting several months ago. I want to give a great big THANK YOU! for taking the time to post all your helpful workouts and tips. You two are doing a great deed and I praise you for that. Its awesome that you take the time out in your busy life to do what you guys do for us, your fans. And you two make the cutest couple. I enjoy watching all your videos, you two seriously “ROCK!”

So once again, thank you for all you two do, sincerely from the bottom of my heart.

Take care and best wishes to you both,
    K in Las Vegas

  • phyrepsy

    lol who designed the shoe??!?

well i live 7 miles from smith rock in oregon and i have pleanty of beds at my house!! you all should come climb with me!! got pleanty of gear too!!!

  • Janina

Good rock to start on lots of places to grab onto.

But ughh… going down is the worst part for me-more like being at the top and realizing how far off the ground you are-no matter how many times i’ve gone up, that is the hardest part for me.

Still you feel so accomplished after a good climb, its totally worth it! :)

  • Idaspe

Love rock climbing, but that was almost too easy even for a beginner :-)

But that terrain can’t be in the Czech Republic?

  • MeghanE

oh yeah, stepping off to repel is for sure the worst part!

  • Sammy

Awww! It was so nice seeing Freddy on there! I loved that first part the best.. you can tell that you have a great relationship and that is so important! I’m inspired by you in every way and now even your relationship inspires me! :] Thanks!

  • http://www.HeartOverSelf.com Josh

I love rock climbing! I can understand being nervous ‘stepping off the edge,’ it’s kind of like jumping out of a perfectly good plane with a huge grocery bag on your back!
The scenery looks A LOT like Arizona, USA. we have a lot of rocks and cactus!
    Great Video!

  • Kendra

LOL could hear you swearing. Could you do a couple vid with your husband? Or the guy you were with. He is so funny! “The knock of the booling shoe.” Is he from America? Bye!! Huge inspiration!

  • Cecily

I get really shaky from the adrenaline at the top of climbs, and after a few I get a little stiff. I can climb for much longer when I am bouldering and I feel like I am more free to move around than I am with ropes. It’s a great sport!

  • http://web-bereiter.de Ingo

You guys should be more careful with safety. Forget that you could ever hold your body weight on those ropes alone – always grab below the brake when abseiling. Also be more focused, I’ve seen people nearly die due to chatter.

I’ve been rock climbing in Gozo, BTW. I guess there is still no guide book, but the guy talking about writing it was probably guiding you ;-)) But no, there is a guidebook now, nice!
