PreHistoric Exercises & a Tour of Gozo

Hi guys,

Yesterday we took an active rest day (ARD) and went on a whirl wind tour of the island. It was the last day that we had our car rental and we wanted to make the most of it before we were back riding the buses :) We drove out to a few spots that we haven’t seen yet and then wandered around on foot exploring each place. This video is our vlog of our day as tourists here on Gozo island. Enjoy the video and let us know what you think of our adventures – we will be back a little bit later today with a brand new toe curling, gut wrenching interval workout that will leave you ruing the day you were born. I mean this in a good way :)

Best,

Frederick & Zuzana

  • Jess

I want to travel now! The things on the windmill are called sails by the way :)
can’t wait til the next workout

Thank you for sharing your adventures! You guys are too adorable together. I love how you squeeze in exercise where ever you are. That’s awesome!! Now, on the subject of tea. Do you guys ever drink Oolong tea? I’m looking for a type called GABA. Ever heard of it? IF so, know where I can find it? I’ve tried a search online, but i worry that some of these teas aren’t the real thing. And like FRederick,if I’m going to spend money, I want good quality. I really like Zuzana’s idea of intense workout, shower then a nice cup of hot tea in a comfortable bed. It makes me warm and fuzzy inside=) Especially since there’s no sugar for 40days(i’m catholic). Let me know what you guys think. Rebecca-Atlanta, GA.

  • Kate

Looks like you had a ton of fun touring around! The answer to your windmill question is that they’re called blades or sails, and there tend to be 4 or 6 per windmill.

Hope that helps and I can’t wait for the next workout!

  • Kayleen

I believe those are called the blades of the windmill. It’s not as interesting of a name as I would have thought.

    Happy adventures!

    Hi Zuzana!
The places that you went are amazing especially the one with the beach…i also started your one month challenge regarding the sweets…there are not many persons that look like you and want to share with the others workouts, diet and mostly advices so …thank you for having done this site…do you alternate your workouts because that’s what i do so i won’t get too used to doing only one workout?

  • VikiSil

    According to Wikipedia:
“A windmill is a machine which converts the energy of wind to rotational motion by means of adjustable vanes called sails”

  • Asli

    lol… i think they’re called blades ???

  • http://bodyrock.tv Andreea

    Hi Zuzana!

  • Frederick

Hi Rebecca – never heard of that kind of tea – is it a special blend?

  • http://bodyrock.tv Andreea

    Zuzana
if you see my comments twice is because this awaiting moderation kills me and i have to submit the comment twice….so i think is the network to blame…oh and if i eat fittness cereals with milk in the morning are those sweets?!!!because it has drigh fruits? just wondering…:)…what workout should i do that is very intense on the lower abs?from your workouts…till now i did the fat slaughter ,fat assassin and earn your shower workout….and today i went to the gym…but i’m going to do one more workout tonight…and i wanted one that would focus on the abs!!!
thank you…and sorry for bodering you with all my questions and hope you don’t mind:)

What a video,I felt like I was there with you! Thanks sooooo much for sharing it. I want to move there also. Love it when you guys go on your adventures, they’re interesting and comical with your conversations. Please dont change anything. I dont know of any other website like this and I appreciate it very much. Looking forward to the next workout. Oh,before I forget I will take the challenge with you. I must say It will be one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done. I love sweets chocolate being the most favorite. I havent decided what my reward will be yet although I’m leaning towards a cuff bracelet like yours Zuzana. Its sooooo pretty. Anyawy thanks again for all your inspiration.
    Hasta La Vista,
    Minnie V.

  • stellarsoulartist

oh my god, you guys are a lot of fun…love your sneaky sightseeing, and brush-in with the tough security guard who had to pee- hahahaha. actually, the rocks on the ground weren’t so different from the temple mount and though its cool to get to go in and see that stuff- it seem that places like that always charge waaay too much in general. I was in Syria, and the most expensive things in the country was those kinds of sites- but the most impressive thing in the country was their food :D

thanks for the tour of Malta Zuzana and Frederick!!

  • Jennifer

Hi Rebecca, I drink Oolong Tea all the time. There are different varieties but it’s best to get it in the dried leaves verse the tea bag form but tea bag form is what I get for conveinence. But if you are near any Asian supermarket they should sell it there. It a dark tea, like black tea.

  • Rebecca

    Hi Frederick,

It is a tea blend from Taiwan. I’m pre-diabetic and its suppose to be really good for that and alot of other things. It can be rather pricey so I want to make sure I get the correct blend. =) Anyways I’ve been searching the web to see if I can order some online. I did a google search for GABA Oolong tea and think I might have found the website I”m looking for. Definetly check it out for yourselves and see what you think. It’s more WEllbeing for us tea drinkers. =)

  • Pati

Hey Andreea, I think it’s a good idea to alternate your workouts to keep you body guessing. I agree that there aren’t many people that are in great shape like Zuzana is, who would be willing to share so much information regarding their fitness routine and diet. That’s why we appreciate Zuzana and Frederick so much :).

  • Rebecca

OH and it’s suppose to be better for you than green tea, which I love =)

  • Pati

Zuzana said that sugar from fruit is allowed so I’m guessing the dry fruit is acceptable. I will continue to eat cereal on this challenge b/c the cereals I buy don’t have much sugar in them and I add cranberries to sweeten it which is fruit!

  • Elena

Hello from Crimea))) Thank you very much for amazing stroll!!!!! You are like two Gods)))
it is very interesting for me how you drink your morning coffee during “Challenging month”? Do you use any substitute for sugar? because I can’t imagine it with honey. I drink simply without sugar but … I suffer :(

  • Matthew

I saw in an earlier post (can’t seem to find it now) where Frederick mentioned how you guys used to use supplements until one was recalled due to adverse side effects (ephedrine based fat loss product I’m betting). Anyway it occurs to me that what separates you guys from the pack is that you promote looking good as a by product of being healthy. Too many diets and supplements promise “looking good” as the end goal with no regard at all for being healthy. That’s a damn shame in my opinion.
Rock on Bodyrock! I love you guys!

  • http://bodyrock.tv Andreea

    Zuzana,
i think i’m going to do your buns and fat loss workout and you said in that video abouts our favorite celebrities buns..
    Jessica Biel 3rd place
Jessica Alba is hot she is on my 2rd place
And On my 1st place is your buns!!!:)…nice faze – the slapping your buttock…you are right with the inspiration part …everybody needs it and without it is super hard to motivate yourself to work hard

  • Monika

I think that Oolong is something between green and black tea. It is only partly fermented and supposed to boost your metabolism.

  • Christy K.

    Hi guys!
Your adventures remind me of my hubby and I, B.C. (before children)! Whenever we vacationed, we video’d everything!!
He even video taped my very first ski trip down a legitimate mountain! (he is an expert skiier, I AM NOT) I think I did curse a lot in that one:) Now a days our family adventures are a bit more tamer! Keep up the great work!!!

  • C. Angel

Sails… That’s what they are called on the windmill.

Cool vid! Such a neat place you guys live.

  • Oli

Zuzanka and Fredy, I like your vids a lot. Nice trips! Thanks for sharing that with us. Just a question… I thought, you moved to Gozo, but you didn’t, or? Are you going back to Canada or Czech Republic? Where do you actually live? This was just a vacation? I’m confused. Thanks :) P.S. workouts in some exotic places, like you did would be also great. ;)

  • http://www.janetspreiter.com Janet

This is a really fun video and it is terrific to share your island with you in your little car! The early building/temple was fascinating…the imagination runs wild trying to figure out how it used to look…As a painter I always love sightseeing and ocean vistas (I thought that inlet Zuzana especially liked was gorgeous and would definitely enjoy an hour meditation/painting there if I didn’t freeze in the process). Is the rock all sandstone? Such a wonderful color in the sunlight! Somehow I had the impression it would be warmer there in the winter…is it colder than usual this year?

  • Mads

    It’s called “Sails”, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windmill :)

    /Mads

  • Nadine

    Hi Zuzana,

I love your cargo bag so much, what brand is it?

Next time you guys go out you should take the dogs to the beach, they’re so funny. (:

    P.S. I for one, have never seen James Bond move with such stealth ! lol (;

  • DORIS

    Hey Frederick & Susanna!!!

2 months from today I will be participating in the Vienna half marathon. So from now on I will be extremely focusing on my workouts and diet so that i can get the most out of it and get in proper shape for summer.
i really enjoy watching your workouts, i still need to get an intervall timer though.

keep on keeping on and all the best to the both of u!

  • Gigi

I recently found your videos and I love them!! In one of your older posts you made a comment about getting back into shape. I would love to hear more about that. Where did you start and how long it took you to get into the incredible shape you are in now? I would also love to know what took you and your husband to Malta. I love to travel but am not in a position at this time so I am living vicariously through you and your family.

  • katerina13

hey guuuyyys I don t know if somebody told it but ….what about if we will send our photos somewhere and then zuzana could see how we was before and after …I think it is great idea and good motivation If we could do this I mean today we will take photos how we are now and after 6 months too and see the difference…I think the thought( that somebody of bodyrocktv will see how we will be after 6 months workingout )will be forcing us to workout really hard and I don t know but maybe zuzana want to know how she helped people…isn t this good idea?well I will take a photo now and one after 6 months and see the difference:D oh and i will mete my arms, waist, stomach, bottom and thighs and write it in my work(out)book :DDD It will be really funny

  • Kelley K

I have never heard of that type either, but have you heard of teavana.com??? They specialize in loose leaf teas, but they have some that’ll be good for metabolism, weightloss, and overall health… Its pretty interesting, I just ordered 2 types. One to help with my coffee addiction, and one that has ACAI berries and blueberries for overall well being and my metabolism

But they have all kinds with Black teas, Rooibos, green, white, and in different mixes and fruits and spices, even decaff

  • Ashley

    Hi Zuzana and Frederick,

I discovered your site a little over a week ago. I absolutely love it! It has everything I want in one nice package :) Workouts, shopping, nutrition, and I feel like I’m traveling with you two.
I found this site while studying for my Fitness Training Certificate. Also, I took on the 30 day NO SWEETS challenge with you yesterday! It’s hard but I know that I have a partner in you doing it with me so it makes it easier :)

    Take care you two,

    Ashley

  • Azier-’di

This is my first time posting!!! I’ve been watching you guy’s since December. Zuzana, I love your workouts…I was doing workouts with Billy Blanks but you’ve won me over to your side.I ordered my Gymboss Sunday and I can’t wait to recieve it. • Azier-’di

Oh….one more thing, the blades on the Windmill is called sails :-)

  • http://bodyrock.tv Andreea

  • Jax

    Zuzana and Frederick:
The Windmill arms are referred to as sails or blades. Naughty Frederick btw….you should respect when something is sealed off..!! Preservation dude!!

  • Kelsey

It looks like you both had a lot of fun. :)

I was wondering what type of Nike shoe Zuzana wears? They look very comfy & I see a lot of people working out in them. But I’m not sure what type they are.

    Thanks!

  • Rae

oh ya! Can’t wait for the next new workout.
I get exited to check each day and see what kind of torture I’ll be doing next. Love it! Thanks guys and never stop…

  • Chantelle

    Hey Zuzana and Frederick,
The area when you are in the temples and Zuzana thought it was a kitchen. Those were altars. The altars in the larger temple are trilithons; that is, made of three stones to form a vertical surface. There is evidence of animal sacrifice on these altars, most of which have been reconstructed. So interesting.
Can’t wait for the next workout!!!!

  • Kyra

I going for the forty as well : )

I searched for Oolong a couple weeks ago at my local grocers and could not find it either.

I searched and read on a forum that the name doesn’t mean anything and is just a name Lipton gave to their blend of black tea. I swore I had seen it in a co-op before but perhaps it was a blend of black tea there as well.

If you don’t have a co-op or other natural food store that sells loose leaf tea close by you could order from online. I use the tea guys: http://www.teaguys.com/

My favorite is Key Lime Pie but I’ve also tried a few others and they were all fresh and flavorful. Oh, and the prices are super cheap.

Best of luck in your search!@!

    Kyra

  • Blair

I just found your website a few weeks ago and am absoluted addicted to your workouts-they’re fabulous! It was quite funny as well because I was planning to give up sugar for lent (last year I gave up chocolate!) and as the day approached I was dragging my feet. The best motivation ever was checking your blog and hearing you tell everyone to give it up. I figured, well now I HAVE to. haha. So thank you both so much for your incredible blog :)

  • Jennifer

Hey, thanks for sending all that beautiful scenery our way! There is nothing but dairy cows and snow here in Wisconsin. I am so excited for one on one training with Zuzana! Any ideas on how long it will be till that starts?

  • Slavka

you guys seem to have a great time in Malta. I would swap London for Malta without thinking twice!

I was wondering how long you are planning to stay in Malta. How about your next destination? Back to Canada or perhaps Czech Republic?

  • Evie

hahaha “It’s not a security guy, it’s a bathroom” love frederick. Z: love your jeans

  • Daja

  • nick from nyc

    Hey Zuzana and Frederick!

Great video, really enjoyed watching it!! You guys really know how to live, gotta tell you. Have you ever been to Capri and Positano (Italy)? The cliffs are very similar to that place at the end of the video where you guys lived for a couple of weeks. Simply gorgeous!

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

Capri is on the list of places that we want to see.

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

I think that 2 of my daily workouts are more than enough and cardio is always incorporated in them.

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

We are going to visit Prague in the next little while, so that should be a lot of fun.

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

We live in Gozo, but we haven’t been exploring this place so much. We are planning on visiting Prague soon.

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

B.C. :) that’s funny. I have been always wondering how people travel a what they do when they have kids. I guess that we won’t find out until we will have our own kids.

  • KC

Hi, Kelley. I just wanted to comment on your subject of teas. My husband and I have switched completely from coffee to tea for the past several months (and we were strong coffee drinkers). I cannot say enough how much better you will feel. I have more energy and strength, but also more patience. I wanted to suggest trying out Adagio Teas. Long before we switched completely, we have been ordering from Adagio for a long time. They have many kinds of teas to choose from and their customer service is excellent. (Gee, I sound like a commercial. I’m not getting any kickbacks. I promise.) Plus they have a really cool steeping device and it comes with their beginner sampler kit. Good luck!

  • Rebecca

    Thanks Jennifer=)

  • Rebecca

    Hi Kelley,
I’ve never heard of that type but I will check it out. Thanks.=)

  • Rebecca

YOur right=) It’s good for metabolism, blood sugar and alot of other things.

  • Mary

    Hi Zuzana,

What type of Nike shoes are you wearing in this video? I like them a lot. :-)

    Mary

  • http://www.a2hfitness.com Liz

Thank you for the wonderful tour. Also, it was so cool watching you two interact with each other. Usually we only see Zuzana, which I look forward to every day because I learn so much. But it’s nice every once in a while to see the man behind the scenes too! :) Looking forward to tomorrow’s workout!

    Safe travels.

    Liz

    Hi guys,
I really enjoy watching your adventures :D

I have a question: with your 6 small meals per day, how do you plan what you eat when you are out for the whole day. Do you take any snakes with you or do you just have a larger breakfast and have then have an early dinner???

    Please let me know !

  • http://www.fotolog.com/flaviarj FlaviaRJ

It was too cold there? Because you´re wearing two coats!!
    ^^
Loved the tour, I laughed a lot here with my brother! I was transalting the video for him and he laughed a lot with that george michael´s part!
    =P

  • Shannon L.

    Hi Zuzana and Frederick.
I would have sneaked a look inside the old, blocked off temples if I was there to.
That was funny… the security guy was coming after you!
    Hahaha!

  • Taru

Rebecca, are there any Asian supermarkets or China towns around your area? Those places should have oolong tea.

  • brittney

i was just wondering would you two mind doing a video of your place like what your house looks like and where her workout spots are?

  • Robin

    Dear Zuzana and Frederick.

You guys shared some beautiful places with us, so here is a place for you.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73_bRV_0AqA

    Have you been there.

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

Yes we have been there. Thanks for sharing this video.

  • Lorrie

I love when you guys share your travel vids with us. That water is GORGEOUS! I love European architecture. I especially love the cathedrals and all the masonic symbolism built into them. It is so interesting and the area where you are at should have alot of that (knights of Malta and all that). I have Fulcanelli’s book that explains it all. It can be quite cryptic but extremely interesting

Even in the middle of winter, the weather is temperate and bearable there. Weather update for here…we are having a heat wave, it went up to 29F yesterday.

    Keep those tourism vids coming!

  • Albenna

yes there is a lot of buzz about oolong. i ve never felt that much from it. also a lot of buz about yerba mate and appetite supresants.
my yfave of those exotic teas is pu-erh. its black like coffee if u get the expensive varieties and its divine. but as far as diabetes and caffeinated tea i think its a little bit of a marketing push. look intp green juicing -it can change everything including blood sugar levels.

  • Jacklyn

I love the videos you guys do together. Your amusing adventures (or misadventures) and your back and forth banter definitely make for GREAT videos. I also love the workouts. They are tough, but soooo worth it. I tell everybody I know who wants to get more fit to come to this website. Keep the videos coming. And more videos starring Frederick! He is a great cameraman, but the chemistry you two have is fun to watch! :)

  • http://www.zbidi.de/ Songaclan

    cool adventure

  • http://www.flickr.com/photos/41740772@N06/?saved=1 Chris L

    Hi Kyra,

The folks at your forum were wrong. Oolong is a traditional Chinese tea having nearly nothing to do with Lipton. It tastes a bit like Green tea and can be bought online or thru an Asian store. We had it both as tea bags for individual use and loose in pots at the Restaurant.

It has all the benefits of Green Tea and tastes as good as any tea when made right.

    –Chris

  • becca

Are you planning on working out during your stay in Prague? If so, are you also gonna still be posting them on the site? I hope so because it will be so cool to see that nothing stops you from working out. I will take this motivation with me on my next vacation

  • Grace

Thank you two for spending 16 euros for the temple. Freddy, think of it as a contribution for all your viewers. We are all able to see things that we may never be able to see in person…Thank you for sharing this adventure with us.

  • John

You two are great. If you had some sort of Travel Channel show, I would watch it. Maybe I’d even Tivo it if I was going to miss an episode. That’s how good it is. Second…What percentage of Checks speak English? It’s my lifelong goal to move to Prague but I’m still learning the language.

  • Frederick

    Hi John,
I gave up on trying to learn Czech :) I have found that a lot of Czech people can speak at least some basic English.

  • http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Zuzana – BodyRock.Tv

Absolutely! Nothing will stop me from working out or eating healthy. It will be a challenge but we are both ready for it. We are so looking forward to posting videos from Prague, because there is so much I want to share with you all.

Hi! I’m from Quebec city in Canada and I have a very specific question for you two. I know that Zuzana have 27 years old and I wanted to know what is her background? I mean, she’s in incredible shape just like she did fitness competition. It is possible? I’m only curious about it :-)

Thank you very much! ( my english is not perfect so…)

  • Stephanie

This reminds me of me and my husband’s honeymoon! We were traveling to all these great places all over Europe being cheap and refusing to pay 20 euros to get into things we knew we ought to go see! That or if there was a line/queue, we were too lazy to wait in it! If or when we go back maybe we’ll be better behaved, maybe not though lol :)

  • Anna

Those things that are missing from the windmill are called sails :)

  • Claudia

Love the video. You guys know how to have fun. I’m glad you spent the 8 euros..it was worth it. Many people saw a structure older than the pyramids. That’s cool!
Today is the 1st time I found your website, I’m a new fan. Thanks for the workouts and the tips. You’re awesome.

Ahoj!

How cool! I love your videos and your website – I just recently found it. I spent two months shooting a movie on Malta back in 1991, and I visited the Cliffs on Gozo. Your video brings back wonderful memories :) Thank you!

  • Jennifer Uranga

Thanks for the views! Keep em coming.

    Love your videos ;)

    Hi!
Many athletes use protein powder/shakes. Could you recommend it? I have read that you do not use it, am I right? What about Frederick? It would be great if you can make a video or blog about it Bodyrock.tv.

    Thank you!!!

Thanks for the answer! So, with a lot of effort, healthy food and patience, it’s possible to have an awesome shape like yours!!! There is hope :-D

I agree with Frederick, the 8 Euros was a bit much to see….. rock… ya its the oldest structure, thats all nice and all, but to be all James Bond to be able to see something good, and not be able to really enjoy it, Frederick was right on this one.

Thanks for sharing the video with us… as always, you guys rock!

Vane – Any of several usually relatively thin, rigid, flat, or sometimes curved surfaces radially mounted along an axis, as a blade in a turbine or a sail on a windmill, that is turned by or used to turn a fluid.

lol I didn’t know what it was called either. So I looked it up! :)

  • annabelle

Protein powder, and any other supplement for that matter, should be treated as such, as a supplement. It shouldn’t be used as a replacement for real food and nutrients, rather it should be used to supplement your regular nutrition.

I LOVE MALTA/GOZO!! I’m half Maltese and I’ve been to those exact temples that you were at! I love seeing things about Malta because not very many people know that it even exists.

Did yall visit the Blue Grotto while you were there? It’s AMAZING!

  • http://N/A Todd

GOZO is its own island and only a small part of MALTA. You SHOULD still visit because it is AWESOME. Check out PACEVILLE at night if you want get your party on.

Also, you would happen to know any Portelli’s or Camilleri’s in MALTA would you? They are my relatives.

    Hi,

    Where you come from ?

I don’t know if you will go back but you were right. Both the islands of Malta and Gozo are amazing in the summer. There are so many people from all over the world and the weather is great. There are 30 foot cliffs you can jump from on the northern part of the island. I would recommend it because to water is the bluest, I’ve seen, in the world.

I’m an ex-certified Trainer/Fitness Professional (24hr Fitness, USA) and currently an Architect. So to relate to what Fredrick said in the tour, this site gives me a bigger “bang for the buck” evolving my 2 most interests, LOL. I have enjoyed your travels especially this tour as I am a History Buff and when you get a chance do the same for Prague. My Heritage goes back to Treviso, Italy and I’m looking forward in visiting Malta/Gozo along the way. Best wishes. So will you ever move to the States? I suggest Miami & stay away from California, LOL.

I would love to visit Miami.

I Love the travel. Good to see you still working out while you go. Ever wonder How some of thoses ancient Stones got piled one on top of another. panetne Stones Were compiled by the giants. Genesis 6 says there were the sons of god came to visit the daughters of men and created a race of giants. They created flesh suits for fallen angles to inhabit.

Any way keep up the good work,
    LOL Joseph

IDEA! a Zuzana and fans workout. That would be so awesome! If you got a small crowd together in some US city that did a workout with you. ^_^
