More Pure Torture Workout

Hi guys :)

We are running around like crazy trying to get everything together for our last minute trip to Italy. Thanks for all of the tips that you guys have been writing in, they have been really helpful so far. Freddy and I are really excited, but we are getting down to crunch time so instead of coming up with a new workout for today, we decided to re-visit one of our older routines and try and beat our old personal bests. I picked the Pure Torture Workout from the beginning of May. You can check out the overview of this workout and explanations of each exercise by clicking here. This is purely bodyweight training, so the only thing you need for this workout is your Gymboss Interval Timer. I hope you guys enjoy the workout, and if you have any tips for places to see, things to do or hotels to stay in please leave them in the comments below :)

I also want you guys to know that if you are ever experiencing difficulties accessing the latest posts here on BodyRock.Tv you can also find them on my personal blog: ZuzanaLight.com – it’s become our back up while we are getting things sorted out with BodyRock.Tv I am also sharing other things there as well that I don’t post on BodyRock.Tv :)

Enjoy,

Zuzana

COOL!!! I have been living in Rome for the Past 9 months and its super beautiful this time of year but super hot! head to the beach! Amalfi is beautiful but super busy with tourists. Wher are you guys heading too? Im off to spain in a week. There is the best gelato shop near the Pantheon called San Crispino or something very close to that and they have a wicked Honeycomb and meringe gelato. and the cups are only little so you dont feel so bad. Dont eat at any resturant near any of the main Sites. they always suck!,
Head to the markets in the morning and buy some fresh fruit and vegies and then head to villa borgehse for a picknik and a wsome veiw of rome out over Piazza del popolo,( thats if in rome and im sorry to any Italians and Romans if i have miss spelt any thing!)
Also, i didnt join a gym when got here, i was going to but i didnt find one i liked, wich worked out great because my serch for workouts let me to you and your work outs rock! you guys rock. keep up the good work.
here is a quote i love, makes me what to be the greatest.
” Dont give up, suffer now and live the rest of your life like a champion”
    so cool. Be happy.
going to try this one tomorrow.

    Hi Zuzana,

I’ve been to busy myself to do any workouts the last couple days with the Landlord’s clean up here and trying to study ISSA texts. But, I’ve made progress with the help of the Landlord and hope to be back to working out Tuesday or Wednesday and will redo this workout then. Enjoy you trip!

I did that workout Friday, it was great.

OK guys, Rome is worth a visit. Go to Transtevere for dinner, there’s plenty of nice restaurants and nice atmosphere.

Then if you go up, like other bloggers, I suggest Cinque Terre (but it’s 500 km far…). I don’t like much the coastline up, except for Orbetello maybe.
The inland around/north Rome (Orvieto, Spoleto, Perugia, Assisi is as nice).
On the way down I’d go for Ischia, and don’t forget to visit Pompei and Ercolano.

Sometimes I get travel suggestions that don’t match my feedback on the same place so I think what best is you guys plan your own trip according to how you are going to feel at the moment, maybe a guide’ll help as well.
    Cheers

Thanks for posting and always letting us see you for at least a minute even if its not a new work-out. I wanted to tell you I found out something about salmon. I had some the other day and it was sooo potent it was not a good thing. I found out that it was red-sock eye, wild salmon. The kind I like is only farmed raised known as atlantic salmon that is mild and sets well, big difference- I love it. Just wanted to pass this on incase.:)

  • Elizabeth

There is a gelateria right outside the Vatican that serves awesome gelato and crepes in Rome. I would say it is also a good experience to ride the bus to different parts of the city outside of the center of Rome…you’ll find great little markets, bakeries, and great food that is not as expensive. Try some granita too…it’s a frozen shaved ice dessert …so much better than a snow cone! Have a great time!

  • amanda

Not sure where to put this question so I’ll put it here and perhaps in another post… I was wondering what size you are? I saw that you had size 4 pants that you said were too big for you now but I didn’t know if that is the same size 4 here in America because I would guess that you were smaller than that? Also a totally personal question that you don’t have to answer, are you on birth control and if so what kind because you obviously have no water weight! Thanks!!

  • http://avmist.blogspot.com Ava

    Zuzana,

Sorry for being such a bother seeing that you all are so busy packing, but I was just wondering if you had any tips for strengthening your lower back. My brother has lower back pains and the doctor suggested to strengthen his back. Thank you so much :)

nice to visit rome!!!!!!!!!! so exciting!!!!!
wish you the best, and visit the most places that you can!!
I did this workout before so let’s see if I can beat my score! :D
Guys could you help me please?
I was doing “the clean diet” about tiny portions many times during the day, but I lost some weight that I didn’t want. So now my portions are bigger and still many during the day, but after my biggers meals, I feel extremely full and I hate that feeling because I think that my stomach got used to small portions, but I think that this is the way to gain some weight, it’s that ok? But, is better if I keep my smalls portions and eat more times during the day than eat some meal that really let me tired?
what do you think that I have to do? please help me :D

Zuzana please talk more about your diet tips, there are great.
I don’t know if eat more than 6 “small portions”meals during the day?, ore eat 4 big meals that get my tired, please answer to me, thanks!

  • Krista

Ooooohh… I like your shorts :) those are ridiculously cute!

I hope you guys have sooo much fun!!

Good luck getting everything all ready before you go ;)

  • John M

10 and 1/4 rounds. I was physically tired before the workout (I worked out this morning and was out in the sun all day) so I’m curious to see how I will do next time.

  • mila

Thanks for the inspiration Zuzana…enjoy Italy…my sister lives there and well…it’s an “experience” for her…but I’m sure you’ll both love it…Travelling there vs living there present different experiences…

Here’s another tip: Some friends of ours just got back from Rome. They said to buy your ticket to the Colosseum at the Forum, or else you’ll be waiting in line for about an hour :)

  • http://Yourbodyin2009 Chris

    Hey Zuzana,

as you know already (perhaps =)) I am a big fan of you. May I’d like to ask you something. Today I saw your videos of 2009. At that time your hips were much more bigger, of course more muscular that today. Not bad, not bad, but I have the same “issue”, because I want to get more lean as you are right now. What did you change against last year? I saw that your workouts were much more dumbbell dependend. Is that one reason? That means: did you change your workouts to much more Tabata style? I am really unsure how to change my workout to reach that goal…to become more lean and to loose that bulky body..I can see that you had the same body transformation…

It would be very very helpful for me and (for sure for other women) to get more information from your experiences..

    Cheers, Chris =)

  • magda

Hej Zuzana…I love all your workouts, I intergrated them into my weight training workouts. I’m an IFBB Figure pro…did you ever think about competing in fitness…you look amazing, maybe a new challange? Anyways I do not know if you found my last post, but I have a question for you..not one I want to post here. Maybe you can respond to my e-mail. Nothing major just girl stuff:) Thank you in avance. Have a great trip to Italy

  • Samantha R

I did this one today and got 13 rounds again same as last time I tried it but I don’t think I could have pushed any harder without passing out today. I love one arm push ups. Sx

  • Audra

    Hi Zuzana,

My 3rd try and 12 rounds, again.

How did you fair this time, Zuzana? My PB for this was back in January with 15 rounds. Like you said form is key but, at least I’m maintaining and not getting slower.

Can’t wait to see what Italy looks like. I’m looking forward to see what the next two weeks brings to Bodyrock.

By the way, was the name of the recent book you were reading on your Kindle?

  • Amandafit

Have a wonderful trip you guys!!!! I love this workout! I really pushed myself today and did 15 rounds!!! My last number was 13 rounds! You are the best Zuzana and Freddy. I know I say that a lot when I comment, but it is very true.

    Amanda

  • Mickela

great workout I will try this one again. I modified it last time and did elevated push ups, it is still quite challenging. It is so hot here in NYC that I have to wait till it’s dark to work out.
have a great time in italy.

  • flora

Since I’ve been doing bodyrock alot, I don’t get my period anymore…do any other girls have that? It’s not menopause, I’m only 29, 5’4″ 125 lbs.

  • Euthie

Loved this workout…even the one armed pushups, LOL. I really want a pair of those cute shorts!!!

    Wow! Italy is fabulous!
I was tired from a morning of exercise and yard work but figured what the heck. I got 13.5 before I was saved by the buzzer! Phew…cold shower!

  • Sarah

Yipee!I love the excitement of going away! Congrats! And to Italy?! You can’t go wrong with that! :)

I was recently on a little trip of my own with my family, we went to the states on a road trip to sight-see. Just one week. It was good, everything went smoothly and we have loads of good memories and pictures :)
    And guess what?
I still managed to workout 5 times in that week! I did the Hot Quickie workout once, and the other 4 times, I did a workout that I made up.
It’s called “Sweat it Out!” and based on your style of circuit training :)
I thought I’d share it with you guys because it was pretty grueling- especially by the final round!

    So here it goes.

    Sweat it out! Workout:

    30 high knees
    30 jump squat and touch-downs
    25 tapping push-ups
20 backward lunge kick-ups (each leg)
    40 jumping jacks
    20 wall sits (each leg)
20 One arm side push-ups (each arm)

Repeat this round 3 times as fast as possible, with the best form that you can manage.

    Wanna try it? :P

Well have a fun, safe trip! Hope all goes well for you!
Thanks for everything Zuzana and Freddy! :)

  • Mickela

I just finished a workout as well,I was kind of in a slump all day and decided to really push it this one is a 10 sec rest 30 minute work
    1. plank pike jump 8 rounds
    2. santana push up with 8 lb weight 8 rounds
    3. side lunge jump 8 rounds
    4. sitting scissors 8 rounds

this was a really hard work out. and it is extremely hot in my flat which really made this a challenge.

  • Mickela

    i mean 30 sec work

  • ALL1E

Strengthening the core is usually great for low back issues. A weak core often = low back pain

  • ALL1E

Check out PhilLinda’s comment above. Maybe same issue?

  • ALL1E

16 3/4 Rounds — I started out on wet grass which made half burpees a pain & my first round much slower, so I moved those to a solid surface; I’ll be interested to see how I fair when I start off & do the whole workout on a better surface.

Thanks so much Zuzanna for the best Best Ripped Abs Workout, for finding easier methods for athletes who find it difficult to do the exercises as fast as you! Keep up the work. Have mentioned this site to some people!

Hey Guys, I know you’re busy so I thought I’d send you this super easy and fast vegetarian pasta salad recipe for a quick meal while you prepare for your trip!

Cook some whole wheat pasta according to box, rinse with cold water and put in the fridge to cool down.

In a salad bowl mix some red onion, torn up spinach, crumbled feta cheese and walnuts. Add cooled pasta.

For the dressing, mix 2 spoons olive oil, 2 spoons balsamic vinegar, half spoon of dijon mustard. Pour over salad and add salt and pepper…done and delish.

    Hi,

The problem with farmed fish is that it has been shown to contain HIGHER level of contaminants such as mercury, whereas wild salmon is cold water, from the ocean, and is less polluted. I would stick with Wild Salmon, if you choose to eat it at all. There is mounds of evidence to support this fact.

  • Rea

This is dangerous… It could be due to insufficient eating (your calories are too low or you’re not getting enough nutrients in your diet) or you are exercising too much and your body fat % has gone down more than it should. These are things that affect hormonal activity in your body. Please consult a doctor/nutritionist before this becomes a permanent condition.

  • Anne-Marie

You look incredible! Very beautiful Zuzana! :P
You guys are wonderful couple, thanks for your workouts, your encouragement and everything else!

Yes, see a doctor. There are several questions that he needs to ask to find the cause. The reasons why this happens are varied but the ones that stand out (because of your description of when it started) is excessive exercise, or acute weight loss. Undernutrition is also a cause but that would more likely result in absence of menstruation if it were a chronic condition and your weight is healthy so I wouldn’t expect that.

You might also be pregnant :)

If your period doesn’t return with rest (and you’re not pregnant) it could be a result of something more serious which only your doctor can uncover.

    Hello Zuzana,
This is my first time leaving a comment but i just love your workouts. They are really blood pumping and breath taking workouts and leave your body sore for a couple of days just as weight training workouts do. i have a fan of weight training but recently injured myself so i moved on to your site and was kinda scared to try some of these. :) I have a question though, it might seem out there and strange but what do you do to keep your breasts up and perky? i have done a ton of bench pressing and pushups and none of it seems to work. i am a skinny girl of 125 and am 5’5″ but was cursed with size E breasts that have always drooped and would love to change that if possible without surgery. Hope your can help and enjoy italy. heard it was very beautiful but never have been.

    Thanks,
    Mrs. Herrera

I spent a bit of time this morning catching up on recent workouts I’ve missed…recording them in my BodyRock journal.

I wanted to say that I appreciate the new tutorial style of the videos. While I don’t have to modify as much as I did 6 mos ago, I am certain the newer viewers are finding this invaluable.

I also am happy to see a return of the bodyweight workouts and can’t wait to try the new exercises and variations ( cross over crunch up, surfer, side burpees, etc).

I love that even though I’m doing Pilates, functional training, treadmill intervals and Bodypump classes in addition, I am sore from a 15 min workout called Sweet Punishment.

Enjoy Italy while I decide which BodyRock workout to do next!

Hey Zuzana! I just bought a cute pink Gymboss timer and got it in the mail today. I am pleased to say I completed 15 minutes of “1:00 sprinting to 0:30 rest” on my stationary bike today! I loved it. Also i just completed this workout with 7 sets. And it wore me OUT! Esp since I did my bike before! THANK YOU!!!!

  • Aimelie

i completed 9 sets.but im always having troubles breathing properly while doing push-ups in the workouts u give us. by the time i get to the pushups, im breathing all over the place and i know the way im breathing is slowing me down when i do the pushups…anyone want to give me tips on breathing 101. hehe:P:P

  • Karen

I really liked this workout…simple, easy to follow, challenging (very), & did not require any equipment. I’ve only been following a few weeks, but so far, this is my favorite.

Thanks for posting your workouts, I was sick of going to the gym. Although I worked out very hard, I think I had plateaued because I wasn’t getting results. I needed a change & your site has been perfect.

My only problem is that I am not able to do deep lunges & squats because of 2 knee surgeries on my left knee (torn ACL from a skiing accident.) I still have stiffness & some pain with a lot of impact. I just modify by not going as deep. I’m still getting a great workout & am thrilled to be getting sore again…especially in the glutes.

  • http://www.myspace.com/mrsols828 Codie

    Hello,
I have been following your work outs for about a month now and i can say i actually look forward to working out everyday. Im a 19 year old stay at home mother of 2 little girls and im just looking to tone up a few areas. I want to add that you are beautiful! And with all the other comments i’ve read im sure you already know that! Kepp it up girl you and an amazing body. also im so happy that your able to have a free website for work out training. Thank you so much for all the work you both have put into this. Also i was wondering does Freddy do these work outs with you as well?

Again thank you :) I hope to some day have a body somewhat like yours. I know were all different and it taks time but my gosh it would be great!

  • bill

Great work out I just started working out again and this kicked my ass I t5ryed you work out for beginers but I wanted some thing more challenging this is much harder than it seems tonight was my frist attempt and and it was a little much for me but I think next time I think I’ll do thirty second intervals and work my way up.
    thanks

A real torture for arms !!!!OMG !! one arms push up, for triceps are killers !!
    I did 14 set + 10 jump lunge
    What a sweat again !!

    23 sets, 10 Jump Lunges & 4 Push-ups….. Bathing in sweat!!!
    GREAT workout :D

  • http://aphrodiitee.deviantart.com/ Isidora

Just did somewhere i belong + this workout.

Somewhere i belong: dont have that pull up bar so i did pull ups
so 1 pull up + push up + grab the knee for 5 sec = in 12 min i did 30 sets alternating sides

    Pure torture:
15 sets exactly. I realized my left arm is much weaker than my right, it was alot harder to do the push ups with that arm!

    Thanksss

  • Kay

I’m surprised at myself! I did 13 rounds of everything. the last time i did this workout i only did 10 rounds. I thought for sure I’d get less than 10. wow!

added 10 mins of hula hoop

  • Vivi

18 sets this morning !! 4 more thant the last time !! I have to say that I didn’t do exactly like zuzka. I did more than a one arm “regular” push up than triceps like on the picture ;)
