Protein Balls

Hi BodyRockers,

I have a new recipe for you below :)

Shweddy Ball’s Recipe…

Our good friend Pete Shweddy gave us this incredible recipe for his Shweddy Protein Balls. They take just 5 minutes to prepare and are a great addition to your daily diet plans. They are actually so great tasting that they are a real treat – you won’t be able to resist putting your mouth around Pete’s balls. Portion sizes – one ball for girls and 2 balls for guys. Check out the video below for an interview with our friend Pete :)

Here is the recipe break down:

2 table spoons of organic natural peanut butter (no salt or sugar added)

2 table spoons of agave nectar

1/2 cup of naturally flavoured vanilla protein powder sweetened with a natural sweetener.

Mix all the ingredients well.

Add about two table spoons of organic shredded coconut.

You can also add 1 table spoon of slivered almonds and 1 tbsp of raisins.

From this amount we made 3 protein balls. The portion sizes are: 1 ball for girls, 2 balls for guys. The balls should fit in the centre of the palm of your hand. Put them into the fridge so they can set.

Chop some fresh celery, apple, carrots, and pack it with you in a Tupperware container. Grab one of your protein balls and you have 1 meal taken care of.

Enjoy your balls,

Zuzana and Freddy

Does low-fat cottage cheese count as a protein?

    • Frederick

Yes it does :) and you can do all kinds of great recipes with it.

      • George

I made these but substituted dried cranberries for the raisins because raisins are so highly glycemic. The cranberries give it great flavor.

  • Zen Ken

As someone who travels a lot, I’m always looking for protein on the go. Not only will Pete’s balls keep my protein intake coming, sucking on Pete’s balls will be a pleasurable experience.

    Thanks for the recipe!

Love the recipe and love the video bellow :D I am sure these will make a great christmas treat when you make them smaller :)
Any idea how long they can stay in the fridge before going bad? And can I freeze them to save them for later?

  • Jessy

This looks awesome, but I don’t have that protein powder. Do you know take protein supplements? One of the things that I like(d) the most about you and what makes this site different from others is/was your simple approach to eating and I really hope the new nutrition challange isn’t going to change this …

Hey Z and F! long time no comment :P

Have you guys heard/read about the Paleo diet? Kinda goes against what you’ve got going here, but it’s a way of eating like humans did for about 90% of our history – hunter-gatherers. That means no grains or legumes, or dairy! ::gasp:: The reason is, because they’re actually toxic to your body.

I’m curious as to what you guys think. I just picked up Robb Wolf’s “Paleo Solution” on my Kindle and thought you might enjoy reading it, at least for curiosity’s sake.

  • Maja

This is awesome! It’s a perfect solution, if you have little time for a meal or you’re on the go! Plus it’s delicious!

If you have more these kinds of recipes – please share! :)

Ah, love it! That video’s a classic!

My protein snack for mid afternoon:

    Heaping TBS cottage cheese
    Heaping TBS vanilla yogurt
Crushed unsalted raw or dry roasted nuts(walnuts, cashews, almonds, etc.)
    TBS chia seed
    Chopped fruit(strawberries, blueberries, bananas

    Enjoy,

    j

P.S. Looking forward to trying your balls!

  • ashley

Do you use sweetened coconut, or unsweetened?

  • uolyma4

How many grams of protein are in these things?

  • Stefanie C.

Great recipe! Just had a small ball, it tastes amazing, and its a great protein portion to have with my apple as an afternoon snack. thanks!

  • Sportymiss16

I just found your recipe, so I raided the kitchen. The great thing about the recipe is that it is so versatile – I used honey instead of nectar, skipped the coconut coz we didn’t have any, and used chocolate protein powder as that was all we had! Using the chocolate flavour maybe a bit less healthy than the vanilla, but it satisfied my chocolate craving too :)

Also, I made them small so I can have a couple with chopped up fruit and veggies as a healthy snack :D great recipe, thankyou!

  • Jonathan

Hi. I’m a new follower and I love your website. I was wondering where to get healthy recipes like a book or website. Also, what protein powder do you use or recommend. I’m having an extremely hard time find one that’s natural but cost friendly.

I really miss the diet videos!!!!!!!!!!!! :( Hope they come back :)

    yummmmmmy!!

I have a question about the 5 meals a day challenge. I really want to do that but have a question about the protein part of the 3-some (protein, veggie and fruit): what do you eat during office hours? what kind of cold protein/meat can you take during lunch time? Hope to hear from you

  • Jen

Thank you so much for sharing this! I was wonder how I could take care of the protein portion of this diet plan. I have a question though. I’m wondering how effective or ineffective HONEY is in a diet? I try to avoid any artificial sweeteners so when I drink coffee or sweeten my meals, I tend to use honey.
    Thank you!
    Cheers,
    Jen

    Thanks,

  • Mimakoky

May I use all natural almond butter instead of a peanut butter in the same amount or is it too fattening?

  • Romanhotboy

how many grams of protein are each ball

  • Sandra_aburke

    This is Halarious !!!

  • Barbara

Someone asked the calorie count above, I put this recipe in my Weight Watchers calculator and it is 4 points, or about 200 calories per serving

  • Tosh

I made these not too long ago. I love them! They are really filling. There are great for no time on the go lifestyle. I take extras with me to the climbing crag on the weekends, and everyone loves them there too. Thanks for sharing the great recipe Zuzana.

  • Stasia

I made these last night…and added a few drops of water in and my peanut butter is organic with just peanuts and salt….so it is almost liquid like…if your peanut butter is hard, try adding water drops to be able to mold them.

    Hi Wintter!
Of course you can, anything natural that you like to sweeten it up a bit ;)
    Enjoy!

  • Linda

    Hey All,
Am a newbie to the site and it is extremely inspiring! Just made these and I have to say, they are AWESOME! Looking forward to my new bodyrocker journey!

  • Sarihndipity83

Okay…. I’m sorry, am I the only one acknowledging the big elephant in the room when we’re discussing this particular topic? Because I know I’m not the only one cracking up every time I read Z&F’s original post about these protein balls. Hmm…

  • kirsten

I love these! They are great for a sweet tooth. I keep them in my fridge for mid-afternoon or evening and pair it with some veggies or apple for a whole meal. Even my husband loves them. I made a little different variation that is SO good. I used grade B maple syrup instead of agave, and used chocolate whey protein instead of vanilla. I used coconut also, but skipped the raisins and nuts. My husband likes dessert, but has had a couple protein balls the last few nights instead of a cookie or ice cream. Love them.

  • Donna

These protein balls are delicious and I love the taste of them:) That Agave Nectar I bought is doing a great job from helping me stay away from sugar. I have made these three times this week already using different flavoured protein powders. I have done Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate so far. I still have coffee protein powder to make but that will be for next week. I get about five to six protein balls out of the mixture. I have two a day so probably better they are smaller costing me less calories:) If you haven’t made these yet then give them a whirl you won’t be sorry…

associating food recipes with the word ”BALLS” it’s NEVER a good ideea, but in principle is a good
    recipe

  • Anonymous

doesn’t anyone else find it hilarious that the title sounds exactly like “sweaty balls” ?? i may have an immature sense of humor but this posting made my day :) .. it also looks delicious!

  • Anonymous

I’ve made several batches of these and they are really tasty. BUT…my husband won’t eat them because they’re named Schweddy Balls!!! LOL!!! Now I have to squash the balls down into a little protein “cookie” so he doesn’t make fun of me.

  • MaGiiKaL

Zuzanna -  These look great, they are mainly used for as a snack only, right? for one of your snacks in the day.  Do you have the nutritional info? or ingredints for just 1 ball?  thanks girl!!!!

would you care to tell us your even better recipe? ^^
