Exercise Challenge – Mountain Climbers 500 reps

Hi BodyRockers,

Today’s challenge is another mini-torture session, where you will find out pretty fast just how much speed and endurance you really have. This is another one of those challenges where your body will be screaming at you for breaks, or to stop all together. Don’t listen. Burning calories and striping away fat is great, but we also have to toughen up our mental game. Exercise is just as much about having the force of will to be disciplined – not to give up, quit or fail to start in the first place. We can all learn to eat healthy and move our bodies correctly – that is the easy part in a lot of ways. The real challenge is the mental one – having the “cajones” to lift your ass up out of your comfort zone and start moving.

Instructions:

Set your interval timer as a stop watch and get into the starting position for Mountain Climbers (see the featured image above). Jump up and switch legs in mid air. Your feet land at the same time. Each jump counts as 1 rep and your goal is to complete 500 reps as fast as you can. This exercise is a great full body cardio/power drill that really targets your abs. Remember to keep your midsection tight throughout this challenge. I completed the 500 reps in 7 minutes and 29 seconds. Freddy made it in 8 minutes and 12 seconds – I am the champion hahaaaa! It’s boys versus girls over here :) make sure to post your scores.

Oh Freddy! How were you in some of the earlier ones then? Maybe just pop in once in a while! But if Zuzana’s filming skills are on par with her editing skills (B&W video) then maybe there is a problem :)

    Hi zuzana and Freddy
You guys are amazing and also a ginormous inspiration for me. I have lost 13 lbs following your workouts since august. I am so much more stronger now even with just 13lbs lost. I used to weigh 200 lbs. My goal is to be around 130 by next august. I know with ur workouts I will achieve my goal weight. I will post pictures soon.

My score is 8:57. Was it tough or what…. But absolutely worth it.

8:26 was my time. The last 100 kicked my butt. I probably would have done better, but I just finished Hot Warrior workout. Whew……I feel tired, sore and loving it!! Look forward to tomorrow’s workout.

I will be gone this whole next week, with internet access :( I am still taking along my workout journal and doing some of my past workouts and try to beat my previous times. There is no slacking allowed as a bodyrocker.

  • Blonde girl

  • rock-n-roll-queen

    hey Zuzana! =)

just did my workout.. i’m a total beginner .. it’s one of my first workouts and really love them..
this one took me about 9 minutes but after 250 reps i had to put my hands on the edge of the bed so because from the bottom it was too exhausting.. but i’m a beginner and did all 500 reps .. so that’s good i think :)

hope i will have enough encouragement and strength to keep on going (with the diet as well).. i often tried to loose weight cause i’m not very satisfied with my body but i always gave up cause i didn’t have an exact plan how to loose weight.. but mercifully i found your website and i’m so thankful for all the tips you are giving us .. i really think that now i can manage it to achieve my goal although i think it will be a long way .. so wish me luck! :)

greetings from an 19-year old girl from Austria :D

  • Isabel

I was intimadated to start but when I got going, it was all determination! Did it in 4:38! Arms are burning like nothing else!!

  • HNC43N1

I thought this was going to be an easy one since in my bootcamp class we used to do like a thousand of these. I was thinking I could just power through the whole 500. LOL after 50, I was like ok I’ll do sets of 50 and making my check mark for each set in my notebook was a big enough break. Then after 200 I was saying ok I’ll so sets of 25 and had to start doing a quick hipflexer stretch between some of them. So I finished in 8min34sec.

  • Lila ♥

Beating my personal record!! 5 min and 46 sec.!! What a burn, loved it =) I’m not adding my old record beacuse I didn’t write it down last time but boy, did I feel the diference. Before, I remember stopping every 5 sec beacuse it was to hard! Now I did it very fast
