Burpee Exercise Challenge

Hi BodyRockers,

We are continuing our Burpees Everywhere quest in Barcelona, and for today’s exercise challenge we are doing even more Burpees :)

Today into a BodyRocker from China while we were doing our Burpees by the Christopher Columbus monument in Barcelona. It was the first time one of you guys has been right there while we were doing our Burpees Everywhere. It was a cool experience meeting a fellow BodyRocker out of the blue. We have been doing Burpees all over Barcelona and we are going to post a video and photos from our trip Monday in the Life & Travel category.

Our time here has gone really fast and tomorrow morning we are leaving to return to Prague and the icy winter. With 17 degree weather here in Barcelona is easy for a Canadian and a Czech to forget that we are less than 2 weeks for Christmas.

Instructions:

Set your timer to count down 7 minutes for you. Your goal is to complete as many Burpees as possible during the 7 minutes. What is the Burpee exercise? It’s a great full body functional exercise that will raise your heart rate, improve your strength, power, agility and flexibility. A Burpee is a combination of a push up and a jump squat. Start by standing with your feet shoulder width apart, then squat down and put your hands on the ground. Jump your feet back into a plank position and make sure to keep your core tight so that you are not dropping your hips. Bend your elbows and move your body down towards the ground as close as your strength and flexibility allows you. Push up and get back into the plank. Jump your feet forward into a squat and jump up with your arms above your head reaching towards the sky. Land softly on the balls of your feet and bend your knees slightly as you land to absorb the shock and to make the landing softer.

    I was only able to complete 37 burpees in 7 minutes! I’ll try to do better next time!

    36 burpees in 7 minutes! Well, not very impressive, but it was a real challenge for me, I never did this many burpees in a row! I did not allow myself to pause, I only stoped once to sip some water. Great challenge :) I used to hate burpees, but now I start to really “feel” them :D

    This dovetailed perfectly with a much more insane challenge I’d been planning for some time (200 Burps for time)
    Net result of the 1st seven min: 86 Burpees!

    I completed 64 burpees in 7 minutes and it’s tough after 20 I slowed down quite a bit :)

    I totally agree that it is super hard after 20. I do cheat to get through the long minutes. Right now I have just been doing 5 minutes. It is getting easier but definitely hard. Maybe as I get stronger I won’t cheat as much.

    I did 70 reps in 7 minutes…after 20 I felt breathless and I slowed down a lot,but before time ended I felt full of power but time finished:-(( and I knew I could be better!!so next time hope so:-)))

    I did 53 burpees, but only 31 with regular push ups, the rest was from my knees. But I´m happy about those 31. Before I started with your workouts I hadn´t been able to do just one push up.

    72 with proper form. OMG. I felt really week today. Didnt workout for 3 days. wasnt feeling well mentally or physically. Glad I did this. I will feel better just getting my workout in. Thanks Zazuna & Freddy. The pics are awesome. Barcelona is beautiful!

    What is your strategy guys? :D
    Do you try to do them fastest as possible to have a good score and then allow yourself to slow down a little bit, cause you already have a good score, OOOR (the way I do) you try to keep the same constant speed and form the whole time, so you are not super fast, but also not wiped out after 5 minutes?
    I better concentrate on a good form (lol it sounds like an excuse for a low reps, hehe) :D

    Hi Janis – We always tell people to start by following our daily workout schedule. Jump right in and get started. We tend to do a full body workout 3-4 times per week and these mini challenges every other day. The workouts are full body strength training that give you the benefits of cardio because of the high intensity. We have you covered – just push at your max effort, watch your form and do your best. We have tutorials for many of the exercises and most of the time Zuzana offers variations for beginners. You can gain a lot by reading the comments below each post and by chatting with the other BodyRockers. I hope this helps!

    Hi Iris – most of the time you can step instead of jump – be creative and modify the exercises so that each routine works for you. Keep going you are the only BodyRocker from Iceland that we know of!!!

    I’ve only been doing your workouts for about . . four weeks. I think you do such a wonderful job! Yesterday’s workout I found myself really pushing harder than I ever have before.

    I teach Zumba, everyday! And I also do your workouts, but I still find that I’m not losing weight. I’m 130lbs and I’m pretty solid, but I would like to be leaner-not bulking. Any suggestions?!

    Really do love what you both are doing! It’s just wonderful!

    Whew, I made a mistake and ate cereal an hour before doing this but I was able to to knock out 62. I will try to do this again later because it felt good:-) I hope to beat this score in 30 days.

    did this one today! making up for ones I missed.  did it after hot curves challenge.  I managed to finish 38 sets!  this was tough,  burpees are one of the hardest for me!

    TODAY I did 100 BURBEES in 10 min! :) I am a real bodyrocker now!! :D Feel so great!! ♥
