Commando Exercise Challenge

Hi BodyRockers,

Freddy here. I just finished today’s challenge in 16:39 which means that the boy’s team are the CHAMPIONS :) unless someone from team whimpy can step up and beat me. Zuzana went down in flames with a time of 17:57 (ouch girls, OUCH)! Of course I’m just luxuriating on the winners podium after getting my ass kicked pretty much all week by team Zuzana. The voice that we were talking about in the last challenge piped up again today around round 5 – I liked the name Brutus for this voice (thanks to poachR for the name suggestion). Brutus kept quiet until almost the end this time and suggested that I slow down the intensity just when the finish line appeared ahead. I think he was secretly routing for Zuzana.

Great exercise but is one repetition the 2 knee tuck push ups with a roll in one direction or do you need to come back and do it again?

My boy-friend keeps telling me the same thing that he hasn’t bought me anything! Like he keeps telling me that he needs to go to the mall still and what not. That’s too funny :) I did yesterdays workout today, but I’m contemplating doubling it up and doing this one as well. I also have to run 30min still…oh man I’m going to be tired today.

  • Luisa Mirabelli

Can’t wait to do this workout – looks great.

Hi, Freddy, Zuzanna and fellow bodyrockers! Great exercise challenge. I had to modify the one leg jump ropes, so i did regular jump ropes instead. I’m still a beginner. My calf muscles are killing me from all the jump roping. My time for this challenge was 17:59. I just started a blog about the body rock workouts. Feel free to stop by and check it out. jennmoss.tumblr.com

    Merry Christmas!!

my time was 16 minutes and 53 seconds… i was worn out…totally ..specially coz i was working out for 2 hours of hard cardio and strength training and THEN i did this workout… my shoulders were spent!

  • jollycakes

If you do not have a jump rope like me, but you have played soccer before. Just use a ball and do100 ball taps, then follow up by the commando push ups. It levels out because you are doing a total of 50 taps on right and left foot, which totals 100. It also helps you with balance as well seeing as you do not want to trip over the ball!

    This sounds like a good idea… :)

    Holy Arm Burner Batman!

Brutus was really nagging me on this one. That jerk! But I finished @ 17:19. Ohh the burn!

  • Amanda Haskin

Hi!! Merry Christmas everyone!! My time for this challenge was 21:25. I didn’t realize how hard it was going to be to jump rope on only one foot! After the first couple of rounds, I got better. As always, thank you guys so much for everything that you do!!! Much love!

  • Lies

My time: 19.54…. the commando push ups were very challenging for me!

  • Tpeckham

Okay so when you guys only put 7 sets on this one I was wondering “why not 10 like the rest”? Well I know why…those commando pushups were killer…I don’t think I’m going to be able to lift my 11lb turkey out of the oven…I did this challenge in 20:34…I also added 100 step ups for each leg on my bench to get a little more cardio and some leg work…Thanks for the great week of workouts…can’t wait till the next one…

    Merry Christmas

I can’t wait to do this challenge! I have been eating too much chocolate these past couple of days and I need to exercise and burn off all that fat and calories! Last night, I went out to eat with my boyfriend and his parents and I wore my new sweater dress and leather jacket I bought from Guess and knee high black leather high heel boots : ) I walked into the restaurant and every eye in there was on me! One guy actually came up to me and said my dress looked great and complimented me on how I looked and another man came up to me and asked me if I was a model! It was a bit awkward… since I’m only 17, but I’m 5’11 and look like I’m in my twenties. The dress is very tight and form fitting, so it shows off my legs and the rest of my body and curves and I felt great! I haven’t felt comfortable wearing tight clothing in a long time, but that’s going to change thanks to these workouts! : )

I did this one without the jump rope, and I stuck to the beginner push ups (still killed me!) – and my time was 15:21! Though I know most of that was probably due to the lack of the jump rope, I’m still proud! :D

Hope your holidays are going great!
    Annie

  • Lena

31:08 :( Oh how I hate skipping! And those push ups were ridiculously hard! Never has a set of 10 reps dragged on so much! This was REALLY challenging. My arms are shaking…!
Enjoy the rest of the Christmas weekend everyone and thanks for this brutal workout Z & F!

  • Anna

I did this nearly 24 hours ago, and my arms are still killing me! Keep ‘em coming.

  • Yana

hi! my time is 20.27. But i didn’t roll during the commando push up because i haven’t enough place in my room. For the same reason i was jumping without a jump rope. Bodyrock community becomes stronger! When i first discovered your site. My results were one of the best among the others. Then i had a break and 1 or 2 months ago began exercising again, and i realized today that a lot of people do better than me! Keep rocking! Thank you guys!))

I just finished this workout and it was BRUTAL. im still sweating. My time for this challenge was 14:54. this seems way to fast so im thinking i may have missed a round. I just get so into the workouts and i always make sure my form is correct that sometimes i lose track of how many rounds i have completed. Usually i make a tally in my exercise journal of how many rounds i have completed after each one but today i decided not to do this thinking i could save a few extra seconds and keep my heart rate at maximum. Disregarding the two short breaks i took, each round lasted almost 1:30. so if i did do 6 rounds instead of 7 my time would be 16:30. 9 seconds less than Freddy’s. Another point for the girls team :-D So come on boys. Bring your A game.
Oh and Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to all Bodyrockers :)

  • Lowrainstorm

20:06! My voice was definitely telling me I wouldn’t make it. I believed it until I got to rep 6 and realized I was almost done!

  • ~Haley

This workout looked easy, but boy was I wrong! Each round of commando push ups was a battle of wills. I love how strong I am getting, though. 22:10 I look forward to doing this workout again in a few weeks and see if I can improve on my time.

  • Yunating

  • Ann

Hi Zuzana & Freddy :) I’ve just completed this workout with some modifications though. I had a nasty cold for about a week. Today I was trying to get myself back on the track. I felt not a 100% recover so I replace the commando pushup with 5 sets of 20 reps of plank knee tuck & roll over. 23:02 mins is my time. Not too bad for a sickie like me ;P Now I’m feeling better…see you tomorrow , I hope!

    This
was quite challenging!  It’s a weird
thing, what kept pushing me was the memory of my ex-boyfriend.  Whenever I suggested he try one of Zuzana’s
workouts, he always told me they were too girly, or “little aerobic workouts
won’t get me in shape for the Army. We actually have to do hard stuff there.”  All I kept thinking while doing this workout
was, “Oh yeah Anthony, is this a
girly workout?”  Him making fun of these
workouts really pissed me off constantly cause he was such a couch potato.  In high school he was super fit.  He worked out at least three hours a day (he
was a sprinter on the track team) and he ate anything he wanted and STILL had a
four-pack.  But after he graduated he
blew up.  It makes me mad to hear someone
complain about how they look and they refuse to do anything AND tell people
that what they’re doing is not good enough.

But besides all that, I finished
this challenge in 24.21 minutes! I had to do the Commando Push Up from my
knees.  That is such a challenging
    exercise!  Love it J

Hard one!!! :) My time 26:38.

  • tee

tried this one today, but didn’t finish.  I think I didn’t wait long enough after eating, starting to feel sick, all that laying on my stomach! ha ha I did 4 rounds in 11min 48 sec,  then I stopped doing this and switched to high knees for 10 min in 10sec/20sec intervals.  will come back to this one when I haven’t eaten! lol

  • Annie_B

How are you guys doing Zuz & Freddy?? I bet you both are really enjoying your travel right now :) I haven’t posted much since I gotta prepare for my girl going to kindergarten this week.Although, I’m still bodying rocking with you guys.I’m a Bodyrocker for life!! :DI redid this workout challenge today. Last time I did was on Jan 13. My time was 23:02 mins with 5 sets of modifications of the push ups. I did Plank Knee Tucks instead.
    Today…14:51 mins-no modifications!!! I can’t believe I beat Freddy’s scores lol ;)

  • http://www.youasamachine.com/ You As A Machine

Just finished this one. I guess this workout is now my annual xmas eve workout. Merry Christmas to me!

Warmed up with 10x stairs by two’s + light stretches.

I was able to finish in 18:06 vs. 19:49 from last year.

Instead of single leg skipping, with the skipping rope I did:Round 1: 100 x double leg skipsRound 2: 100 x side to side hopsRound 3: 100 x high kneesRound 4: 100 x scissorsRound 5: 100 x jacksRound 6: 100 x double leg skipsRound 7: 100 x high kneesOn each commando push up I lay down completely as instructed which is so much harder than just touching the ground.cooled down with 3x 100 skips + 5 forward grip pull ups40 Min. Ashtanga Yoga standing series (including first 12 seated postures + close).Happy Holidays to everyone!

  • Kay

14:12 – had to modify the pushups because i’m still slowly getting back into pushups. so i did only 1 pushup and the knee ins as usual (instead of 2 pushups)and the next set i did full crunches instead of the pushups and so on.. until all 7 rounds were done.
