Burpees Are Forever and Ever :)

Hi BodyRockers,

Thank you so much for giving me ideas for this weeks diet challenge. I read your suggestion and the winner is BodyRocker Lucy who suggested a Tomato week! :) Please check out the new diet challenge post for more information so that you can follow it with us.

On another note, I wanted to share my experience with today’s workout. I realized how much I miss Burpees (my favorite exercise) so I decided to do one of the most brutal Burpee workouts on this website. The reason why I like revisiting our older workout routines is obvious. I like to beat my personal best, because it challenges me and it gives me a bigger sense of accomplishment when I see my new record. I think that you can apply this philosophy to our day to day lives as well. We push hard through the challenges only when we are motivated, inspired, or if we have someone else to push us. BodyRocking is not just some form of fitness. It is a way to connect with your body, your soul, your mind and each other. You can rediscover the strenght within you each day while BodyRocking with us. It was a really nice pick up for me today and I hope you guys will experience it too.

Best,

Zuzana & Freddy

I love burpees too! I will be doing this one first thing tomorrow, I have changed my schedule from training at night to the am in order to have more time in the evening with my Hubby, so it set me back a day. Can hardly wait to do it tomorrow!!

I figured I could watch “Glee” and do my work-out at the same time. :)
I was on my stationary bike and did interval biking with minutes of high intensity interspersed and then during the commercials I did as many burpees as I could. It was intense!!
    Gotta love multi-tasking :)

Also, I love mini grape and cherry tomatoes too. They are super easy to pack and snack on!!
    Yay for lycopenes.

So now I have this stuck in my head while doing laundry and no doubt I’ll be humming this on the way to the dining hall. BUT, tonight, these Burpees will feel like forever, but only last 12 minutes :) I’m excited!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000047412360 Nina Brigham

It’s funny I always have this song in my head from watching the video before. I think I watched it about a month ago (didnt do the workout cause I thought I could’t at the time) and I still get that song in my head, I was just singing it yesterday and now its on here lol! I just did the “cut the cheese workout” today but I will do this tomorrow I’m excited I am getting better at burpees I will do five random burpees every once in awhile just to get better at them. Body Rock is amazing! I love it I am so proud to be a bodyrocker :)

  • Yashizzle

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Elena-Malova/1327315961 Elena Malova

Oh no Zuzana, it was not the most brutal…. really brutal was with burpees during 1 hour!!! jajajaja 400 reps burpees workout!

  • sofi

OMG this almost killed me, i’m still sore from yesterday’s workout so i wasn’t able to beat my score, but i pushed at my max. effort so im happy that i finished it :)
    here are my scores:
    7/5/6/5
    8/6/6/6
    7/6/5/7

  • Sara

She does say “one of the most brutal”… there’s really no topping the 400 rep burpee workout. Unless, of course, she comes up with a 500 rep one… agggghhhh. :)

  • Zoe Quixote

yes! i did that one yesterday… it’s a good thing, now this one looks less scary.
    sort of…

  • Anonymous

    Agreed!!!

  • Anonymous

just finished! did this workout outside at dusk, like 8:30. it was so relaxing ironically lol, my scores werent amazing- like 7 for every round give or take 1- but it was a really nice workout. the crickets and frogs were so loud, i love it :)

  • Anonymous

ahhhh yea !! or the burpee fusion one, all the same burpees. burpees were truly forever

  • Donna

Looking forward to this workout tomorrow:) If I could do Burpee fushion back in Jan then I won’t have a problem with Burpees are forever & ever:)

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=632994350 Neo Xin Fang Angeline

Hey Zuz, what’s the drink that you’re drinking after the workout?
    Nice cropped top!
You should really do a fashion haul on your exercise clothes ( :

  • Sara

My boyfriend kindly gave me his cold (so generous!) :) so although I did these without modifications, I did have to pause the timer every three rounds or so to blow my nose! Also, a few burpees into the third set of starbursts, I stopped being able to breath properly (asthma – generally under control, but I guess the cold stirred it up), so I had to stop for a minute or two until I could breath again. I then re-set the timer and did it again, and was able to finish without incident. So, all in all, I’m happy. :)
    My scores:
    8, 7-1/2, 7-1/2, 6-1/2
    9-1/2, 8, 8, 7
    8, 7-1/2, 8, 7

Just finished, definite improvement from the first time I tried this back in November. Though in all honesty, thought scores would be much higher this time, but perhaps my body is all burpeed-out from doing the 400 Rep Burpee workout on Saturday.
One Leg Burpee & Side Jump
    New: 6, 6, 5,5, 5,5
    Old: 5, 4.5, 4, 4
    Side Burpee
    New: 8, 7, 7, 6.5
    Old: 6.5, 6, 6, 5.5
    Starbust Burpee
    New: 7, 7, 7, 7
    Old: 5.5, 5.5, 5, 5
Thank you as always. Oh and I couldn’t get “burpees are forever” out of my head throughout the entire workout.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=524971258 Courtney Riddles

You and me both. xX I regret the modifications I made yesterday to the workout! Congrats on making it though!

  • Yashizzle

dont give her any crazy ideas! im too young to die! lol

  • ZoeRocker

I can’t believe you did the 400 rep burpee workout again! I don’t think I could do it. It was an absolute brutalizer!

  • ZoeRocker

Just did this… This was actually the first video of your workouts that I ever saw. I thout it was crazy and I tried it except I didn’t have a timer so I just did 10 reps of each burpee til I finished. That was a great way to do this one as well. These are my scores:

    one leg burpee- 8,7,7,7
    side burpees- 9,8,8,8
    starburst burpee- 9,10,8,8

I am happy with my scores! Thanks guys!!

  • ZoeRocker

I don’t think I can ever do that 400 rep workout again. It nearly killed me!

P.S.- Twista’s “Hit The Floor” was a great/horrible song for this workout (the song during the end of the workout.) It inspired me to drop back down quickly, but my body also wanted to just stay on the floor after it hit it.

    I’m allergic to Tomatoes :-(

  • http://www.makavelina.webnode.cz Nina_CZ

I was so scared this is the Burpee Fusion one when I saw it in the morning :D Thank you for ONLY this one :D (only is in irony, this is still a killer…). Doing this tomorrow!

  • ZoeRocker

That’s too bad:( Maybe try to include another super food into your meals for one week. Spinach is very versatile. You could add it to salads, sandwiches, blended soups, smoothies, juices… the list is long. Hope that helps:)

  • ZoeRocker

I was afraid too!!! Thankfully it was this one, which was still a total burnout, but not a drop dead!

I cannot believe this happened. Zuzana must have read our mind :-).
Craig and I just did this exercise on Monday. And you know what? My new scores are better than Zuzana’s new scores (wow, I cannot believe it). …in fact, my scores are SOOO excellent, I won’t dare to try this workout again, fearing that I could only spoil them. Anyway, our scores again:

    Craig:
    1leg side jump: 6 | 5.5 | 5 | 5 (02/04: 5.5 | 4 | 5 | 5 – 19/02: 6 | 6 | 5 | 5 – Jan: 3 | 4 | 4 | 4)
    Side burpees: 7.5 | 8 | 8 | 7 (02/04: 6 | 6 | 6 | 7 – 19/02: 6 | 6 | 6 | 6 – Jan: 5 | 3 | 4 | 5)
    Starbursts: 9 | 8 | 7 | 8 (02/04: 9.5 | 8 | 7 | 8 – 19/02: 6 | 6 | 6 | 6 – Jan: 5 | 6 | 5 | 6)

    Sünci:
    1leg side jump: 8.5 | 7.5 | 7 | 7 (08/03: 7.5 | 7 | 7 | 6 – Jan: 6 | 6 | 6 | 6)
    Side burpees: 10 | 10 | 9.5 | 9 (08/03: 9 | 8 | 8 | 7 – Jan: 7 | 8 | 7 | 6)
    Starbursts: 11 | 10 | 9 | 9 (08/03: 9 | 9 | 8 | 9 – Jan: 8 | 8 | 7 | 7)

    He we go:
classic burpee (cant do one leg): 6,4,4,4
    side burpee: 5,5,5,4
    starbust burpee: 5,4,5,4
The last round i did beginner variation.
    +20 minutes of skipping.

Diet: Because im newbie, Im trying to avoid junk food (success so far), and im trying to find healthier variation of my food, f.e instead of white bread+ham+butter i eat whole grain bread+lean ham+one fresh peper. Im not fan of egs and chicken meat i can buy in big supermarkets (im interested in animal welfare) and i dont have a chance to buy organic meat. So i eat much more fish (did you know, small fish have so small brain they actually dont remember the pain?) and organic cottage and so. Im lucky, i really love fish.
I stil have cravings and i still eat more carbs than i should, but instead of whole pack of sweet biscuits now i have one small package 50grams of whole grain biscuit (one package=30carbs/but only 9 of it its fast sugar). To eat fruit like a treat still doesnt work for me. In the next challange i will try to avoid fast carb in the evening, when i will try to eat only veg+protein.
And i dont drink water as much as i should – it will be a big challange for me…

    Thank you!!

There’s a link for the drink under the workout description;)

Waw, what an improvement! This is pure inspiration :)

As pointed out earlier, if you’re trying to build some muscle, there’s an even more important reason why you should always try to beat your personal bests, other than the sense of challenge and accomplishment: http://www.acaloriecounter.com/building-muscle.php#one

  • poacheR

Hi Zoe, if you’re stuck without an interval timer, you can make your own: http://www.bodyrock.tv/2010/12/22/interval-timer/#comment-157694915

OMG… with my not 100% right shoulder..it will be not so easy workout :)

  • http://twitter.com/GoustiFruit GoustiFruit

I also immediately thought about that one when I read “so I decided to do one of the most brutal Burpee workouts on this website” :-o I remember I had to stop at half the workout back then. I’d like to give it a new try someday… exciting but so scary !

  • Samantha R

    Morning all!

The only diet challenge I have a massive problem with is working for your good carbs – we always eat everything wholemeal here now but I like either my eggs with a slice of wholemeal bread or organic oats for brekkie and I find it difficult to workout without them on board first too. Going to try my best to do it for the rest of the week though.

    1. 1 Leg Burpee & Side Jump: 10, 7, 7, 7 (prev 7, 5, 6, 6)
    2. Side Burpee: 12, 11, 10, 9 (prev 9, 8, 7, 7)
    3. Star Burpee: 10, 9, 9, 10 (prev 7′s)

So pleased with my improvement! Best go buy some tomatoes today;) Sx

Did you have your face filled? Looks good, I will do the same thing soon. Unfortunately women who are in shape and trying hard to keep their body weight low, they tend to have hollow cheeks and area around the mouth :( not fair!

  • http://twitter.com/IronFistGirl Tara Fox

i love your honesty ! sometimes reading the comments on here are a bit intimidating ( lol dont get me wronge i hope to intimidate people someday unintentionally) coz everyone seems to be doing so well and i know i definately struggle with chocolate alot lol especially since easter came along. But we are now proud bodyrockers and will get there !!!!!!! High fives

  • Donna

Hi Samantha, I find working for your carbs hard also. I prefer to just get up and have my oatmeal or toast for breakfast:)

Doing a workout before breakfast doesn’t appeal to me. So I made it work by changing my breakfast. I now have broccoli and eggs for breakfast or yoghurt with grapes with celery or Pete’s famous protein balls with a coffee or tea. These breakfast choices seemed strange to me but I actually enjoy them now:)
I save my toast or oatmeal for my days off:)

  • Anonymous

Thank you Tara for your support :)
I love chocolate too! I wont give up on chocolate in future, but i will go for 80% (or more) real chocolate. I love it and i actually cant eat this high percentage chocolate in the huge big amount like i used to eat milk chocolate.
And you are right, sometimes the comments are intimidating – f.e. i cant emagine myself to do 400burpee challange its crazy :))) But i love this comments anyway :))

  • Anonymous

I love your approach – you don’t seem to deprive yourself of anything, I perceive your logic as replacing ‘bad’ foods with ones that do you good. I definately got inspired to think this way by reading your post. :) Best luck and success with your goals, and most important, satisfaction!
Oh, and by the way, congratulations on your effort and welcome to the comunity!

  • Anonymous

Thank you so much for your comment!!! It means a lot :)

  • Samantha R

Hi Donna – I know that once I get into the swing of it I’d probably be ok, just the thought of veggies for my breakfast makes my stomach turn. I might try the protein balls though and eggs I find ok too obviously maybe I could do mushrooms or even better tomatoes. Have you seen many benefits from this approach? Sx

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/FitMindy?feature=mhum Mindy McT

This is my first Burpees Are Forever workout and I must say that I love burpees and all the variations, but the Star-burst burpees is my favorite :) Here’s my scores:
    1. One Leg Burpee and Jump over: 9,8,8,7
    2. Side Burpee: 11,10,9,8
    3. Star-burst Burpee: 10,11,10,9

  • http://www.makavelina.webnode.cz Nina_CZ

Awww, I understand you very well!!! I love chocolate, but I can live without it. I have 3 chocolates in my fridge now (someone gave them to me during easter) and I haven’t touch them yet, so I will probably give them away :D But I can’t stop eating potato chips!!! There is nothing like BIG, CRUNCHY, SALTY POTATO CHIP!!! Please, anyone, if you know anything that can substitute salty potato chips, let me know, I need help with that :D I can eat the whole bag at once, while watching a movie, I am able to finish the pack before the opening subtitles are over :D

  • Anonymous

    Very cool!

  • Anonymous

yes I do and thanks :)

  • Anonymous

Oh potato chips, so delicious!!! :) Have you tried roasted pumpkin seeds? The one with skin on it (peel). But i would say, sometimes substitutions simply dont work, so maybe having a big veg salat before movie and then only small package of potato chips? No? Hm… oh i know.. lets do 400burpees challange before each package of chips ! :))

Im sure you can, only dont listen your mind, because body can resist more that you think )))

I saw your blog and i am amazed! You deserve that potato chips :) You are determinated and you know what you want, great! I would love to be so determinated.. in the last three years i was like “Tommorrow i will start my diet… oh no Monday is the best day i will start my diet and today i will eat this big fat chocolate and this pizza… Oh hell, i will start next month and i now im going to buy some big cake …and potato chips.. oh no.. i will definatelly start on new years eve!!!”
Now i know the strictly diet without treats is my biggest enemy (actually the diet is the best friend of all overweight people – because you think you may eat junks today and start tommorrow :)… so im trying to eat healthly, but i still have my cup of coffee and my whole grain biscuits :)

Started with 500M row; shoulder rolls and KB swings to get warmed up…scores:
    1-leg burpee: 8-8-8-8
    Side Burpee: 10-10-10-10
    Starburst Burpee: 10-10-10-10

  • http://ladneslowa.wordpress.com/ Dorota T.

    Ufff, my personal bests! :)
    1. 9.5; 10; 10; 9.5
    2. 11; 10.5; 10; 10
    3. 9; 9; 9; 8
NICE, I love this workout! Today I’ve started matriculation so it was perfect relax after my 1st exam! :) Thanks. :)

  • Micha79

Alright! First Post for me on my time and scores:
    One leg burpee: 6,5,4,5
    Side burpee: 5,5,6,5
    Starburst: 6,5,4,5
Finished with abdominal work and stretch! :)

Side and starburst were easier than the 1 leg… but I’m able to do a FULL pushup down :) Can’t wait for the next workout!

  • AmBoaksy

Wow! After doing some high knees intervals, I moved on to the burpee madness. This was my score:
    One-leg burpee: 6, 7, 7, 6
    Side burpee: 7, 7, 6, 6
    Starburst burpee: 6, 7, 7, 7

All pretty much the same numbers and they’re not that high, but I’ve never done that many burpees before. Can’t wait till the next workout!

  • AmBoaksy

That’s great!!!! You’re doing a great job and you’re doing it the best way possible. No sane person can just drop junky food cold turkey AND stick with it. I certainly couldn’t. Perseverence and moderation is the key! I used to eat chocolate bars every day and since I was in school, I’d be eating them as late as 4 am just for the sugar to stay awake and keep working. When I started eating healthier, I’d overstock on halloween candy so that the chocolate I loved would be in smaller packages. I slowly weaned myself off the chocolate bars and ate more veggies and fruit. Now, if I don’t get enough veggies in a day, I get pissy. I actually crave celery and salad! lol. I’m still addicted to mini eggs though. You can’t give up everything.

    Keep up the good work!!!

  • AudraFit

Hi Maribel, never be ashamed of your scores ;) You”ll gain your strength back! Just jump back on board with us :)

  • Zoe Quixote

you did awesome! as long as you never give up, that’s all! :D

Some days is not the just the numbers, seems like you really enjoyed the workout!

“Burpees…are…for.e.v.e.r…..” wowsers…I could hardly get my feet off the ground in the last round(especially in the starburst burpee)..my legs felt like cement blocks! I really hate being a day behind, so today is my “catch up” day :) This is my first time doing this workout and here are my results:

    1 Leg Burpee & Side Jump: 8-6-6-7
    Side Burpee: 6-7-7-7
    Starburst Burpee: 6-6-7-6

    Bring on today’s workout Zuzi!!!

  • http://www.makavelina.webnode.cz Nina_CZ

Thank you so much for reading! :) I think from time to time it is not bad to have something you like, especially if you are working out like we do and you are consistent with you diet most of the time, I just always though that eating crap will completely waste my effort in workouts. If I really stick to good eating habits, I am able to loose weight (fat), feel and look better, and that is what motivates me. I used to eat tiny portions during the day, and overeat at night, I had stomach pains a lot, becase I just grabbed everything I had at home, and sometimes I really was able to grab a pack of chips as a dinner! Bad old times :D It is good to have a little treat from time to time, it is usually hard to stay away from forbidden stuff :D but if you don’t forbid it, just don’t allow so much of it, it can be done :) and with people supporting you, it is even better :)))) I wish you best of luck on your journey!!! :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/dana.vanbeneden Dana Grace Van Beneden

I work in the health food industry and just went to a lecture on women’s health. It was very interesting and was basically in line with what we do on bodyrock. The one thing that I enjoyed about her talk was she really encouraged eating a 90/10 diet. 90% of the time eat well and take care of your body. 10% of the time, live a little. Eat buttered up popcorn or chocolate or whatever your “vice” may be. I feel like I work too damn hard to deprive myself. If I want that cookie, I’m gonna enjoy it and feel no guilt! And seriously, fruit as a treat? I just can’t relate with that one either:) The only time fruit is a true treat to me is if it’s dipped in delicious chocolate or in a pie shell!!! Of course, this is not something I do regularly but once in awhile.

The other thing I like to ask myself before I eat something is on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the most nutritious, how good is this food my body? If it’s a 10, I’m slamming it and feeling great! If it’s a 1, I’m not eating it or enjoying it in moderation. It takes time to transition some of our old eating habits. It doesn’t happen quickly for most. Just keep chipping away little by little and feel good about your accomplishments! Just the fact that you are being aware of your food choices and trying hard to break old habits is an accomplishment. It’s always the hardest in the beginning. Good luck!!

Oh and this workout sucked:) By that I mean, it was so hard!!!!!!! I really had to push myself today!!

    1 leg burpee 7/7/7/7
    side burpee 10/11/9/10
    starburst burpee 9/7/9/7

  • Kim

Wow, that was brutal! I didn’t think I was going to make it through it, but i did it! Sorry…can’t join you on this Food Challenge. I refuse to buy crappy tomatoes form grocery stores, and they aren’t in season yet here, so I have to wait for them. I try to eat produce that is in season and from local framers.

  • Mary Lou

This was my first time on this one and my body felt like lead the whole way through. I think tomorrow will be a rest day for me, which is just as well because we are taking the kids to their first Red Sox game @ Fenway Park! Whoo!
    one leg: 5.5, 5, 6, 5
    side: 7, 7, 6, 6

Zuzana, I’m just curious what would you say is your MOST brutal, intense workout??

  • Anonymous

Okay, first time doing this workout and LOVED it!
    7,6,9,8,10
    6,6,6,6,6
    6,6,7,8,8
*The last one was just to see if I could beat myself :p

  • AudraFit

I beat my old scores on this too Zuzana! At least by 1-2 reps :) Although I ran out of steam in the end and noticed my burpees were gettin’ ugly. So I slowed down and pictured you at my side telling me, “Push! Watch your form!” And it really works! Thanks Zuzana!

    1-LegBurpee/SideJump: 9/9/8/7 (Old: 8/7/7/7)

If you’re going reading this and plan on doing this workout, remember to drink before your workout, because it will be impossible during it (10s rest !), and still impossible after it for minutes because you won’t be able to breathe ! My mouth was foaming in the end.

  • Mary Lou

    Agreed!

Nice Audra!!! That was very tough!!! Also was able to get an extra rep here and there:)

  • Dheana

This was my first time doing this one and my scores are pretty mundane compared to a lot of my fellow BR’s but what I am SUPER PROUD of is the fact that I did this workout in a University gym full of 20 year old male varsity athletes and I was FOR SURE the hardest working person in the place! Ba! …and HALF their age to boot! Yay Bodyrock!

    One Leg/Side Jump 6 – 6 – 4.5 – 5
    Side Burpee 8 – 6.5 – 5 – 5
    Starburst 4.5 – 4.5 – 4 – 5

Room for improvement, for sure – but still feel like a million bucks! Thanks for another awesome routine guys!

  • Anonymous

I can’t wait to do this one tomorrow!! I know it will kick my butt, cos it did the last time I did it, and that’s exactly why I’m looking forward to it!! :)

Now a question that is not related to the workout.
Zuzana, how is your nutrition course going? :)

  • http://www.janetspreiter.com Janet

I took a break from bodyrock april 17 til now on account of a cough and sinus issue, then I had a week of family visiting(far too much fun!). NOW I am back and chomping at the bit. I did my long roughly 6 mile hill run and tackled this, feeling a bit intimidated by the long break. I managed to get through it, but had to collapse on the floor at the end. I used my usual “how bad can 12 minutes hurt?” motivation to get started. Answer? Big time! Cold shower!
    One leg: 8.7.7.7
    Side: 10.10.10.11

I’m so upset ): My knees are injured I have a problem with my ligaments… I didn’t do any workout today…
I think I’ll stop HIIT for a while and I’ll try to create my own workout choosing exercises that are easy on the knees, I think I’ll use the workouts in the book ” You are your own gym” (which I bought thanks to your recommandations :) )

If anyone has any suggestions on how to workout with a knee injury, it would make me happy
    thank you guys ;)

  • Anonymous

I know, I so was not looking forward to it, believe me. But I had to because the first time I did it I didn’t finish, crumbled midway after the second round and only managed 250. It was bugging me ever since, not completing. But frankly I don’t think I’d have the nerve to do it again, probably (hopefully) body could, it’s the mind that would stop me.

  • Annebel Wind

Hi Everyone, I see you are discussing the problems with diet challanges.. I try to think about what I am eating… but can not stick with earning my carbs. i just can not live on salads and fruit all day long, and working.. So I just eat bread and try to put only lean meat on it and diet butter. But still. I do eat fruit and veggies with it always.. But I do not lose any weight. I still have love handles and some bellyfat.. So I really do not know how to lose this. If I shoult earn my carbs than I have to live on veggies and fruit and starve.. Has anyone have other suggestions? How do you do it guys?

  • Annebel Wind

    Oh my workout..;D almost forgot…

Bad Old Times :D I am SURE you will say that soon. For how long are you following Bodyrock? I am running my 10th month now and the “before” and “after”, not really physically, I am still short, tiny with bigger butt, lost some fat + gain some muscle, lol, but mentaly I am 100% different person…

Dana, thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us! The idea “90/10″ is really great, i find it very very interesting and inspiring. I think lots of women has the same problem as me, they give up entire day if they eat junk food.. and thats the worst thing i kept doing.. thanks for suggestion, its really good one :)

Am, thank you very much for your comment. Well dont get me wrong, but it actually feel good to read that bodyrockers had in the past the same troubles (well maybe smaler) as i have now! :))
You are very right, the moderation is the key. I would never said , adding peper instead of butter really works and it acutally taste better. I hope, one small step by another will lead me to the healthly body!

    Hi Lamya,

You can build the strength of the supporting muscles and only do HIIT that protects the knees or at least doesn’t stress them to much to endure. I have a copy of ” You are your own gym” and find it helpful and Mark Lauren has written an guest article here once I believe.

For me when jumping up and down is to be to much to take I will use the Stationary Bike and hit it hard there!

    Take care,

I found this site i think 2 weeks ago, but i thought its nothing for me… but because im trying to run my own business (intraday stock exchange trading) i really need to be disciplined as a trader = as a person! I have been reading lots of books about trading and discipline and one sentence i wont forget “Show me one succesfull and disciplined trader who is overwheight” .. yes, it moved me a lot! So i started on 1.may :) Im greener than green :))

  • sofi

thanks for your compliment :) but no , i’m not a fitness trainer, but i wish to be someday one. And there are no secrets haha i follow Z&F workouts almost on a daily basis.. Other days I go out for a run (I love to run).. Also I try to follow their diet challenges.
I hope this helps you :)

  • sofi

Thanks! It was hard but I know it was worth it ;)

  • Mary Lou

Protein! Protein and more Protein! Add some nuts or nut butter (peanut or almond) or a piece of cold chicken, it makes a HUGE difference. Check out Dr. Mercola’s site to find out what nutritional type you are and it will help.

  • MissSandraD

The sun is shining and I was so happy to see that we were revisiting the Burpees Forever workout.

    1 Leg Burpees and Side Jump: old scores – 6, 5, 5, 5 new scores – 8, 6, 6, 6
    Side Burpees: old scores – 7, 6, 6, 6 new scores – 8, 6, 7, 6
    Starburst Burpees: old scores – 6, 5, 4, 6 new scores – 7, 8, 6, 6

    Welcome to Bodyrock!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=524971258 Courtney Riddles

Congrats on the steps you’ve taken so far! For me, I made fruit seem like an awesome sweet tooth alternative by cutting up mango into little pieces and then freezing it. Then when you eat it, it melts in your mouth and tastes like ice cream :) You should try it!

Also, I highly recommend calorie counting. It really helped me out, because you have to admit (to yourself) what you’re putting into your body. Then, when you’ve done that, try to reduce it each day/week. You’ll eventually subconsciously think about whether or not you truly want what you’re eating to count toward your calories for the day or if there’s something better you’d rather have. :)

  • katrock

WoW.. this is a great fast sweat blasting way to start any kind of day.. or finish one off..

I understand you, I’m also in love with potato chip, and I’m also able to eat a whole bag at once…What I do? I don’t buy them, when I go to the supermarket I buy no junks at all…if they aren’t at home I can’t eat them!
Just sometimes, when I have a massive craving I buy a big pack, enjoy and feel no guilty…maybe a little bit guilty… XD
But I make that this happens very rarely…

    Hi Ela,

Don’t worry, I started out the same way but used a clock instead. I had to keep track of my reps and the clock :( Imagine the confusion LOL! The important thing here is that you did it!

  • Donna

I did lose weight the week I followed this with carbs 1-2 hours after my workout only:)

If you like eggs an Omelette with one egg and two egg whites, with diced mushrooms, diced tomatoes, diced spanish onion, diced red capsicum and chopped spinach leaves is another good one:)

  • Donna

Ela I understand your frustration because I felt the same way when I started and didn’t have a interval timer:(

It’s hard to concentrate on the exercise you are doing, counting the reps and having several different timers going off…

Just do what you can till you get yourself an interval timer. At least you are doing the workout to the best of your ability:) I bought mine from ebay…

  • Sara

Muscles are heavier than fat, so losing weight might not necessarily happen, or not happen very fast, with bodyrocking. A much better way to track your progress is by measurements and increased fitness. I, for example, have been bodyrocking seriously since mid January, and have gained 5-10lb – BUT have lost almost 3 inches from my thighs and waist (individually, not combined!). So I count that as a win. I’ve clearly lost fat and gained lean (though heavy!) muscle.
I try to eat healthfully 90% of the time… that’s good enough. :)

  • Lena

this one was tough! I did it this morning and unfortunately didn’t really improve much from last time. I was pretty stiff and sore from the past few days but I am glad I did it. Need to get back into burpees more again :)

    Old and new scores:
    1. One Leg Burpee & Side Jump: OLD: 5, 4 1/2, 4, 4 NEW: 6, 5, 5, 5
    2. Side Burpees: 7, 7, 6 1/2, 6 1/2 NEW: 7, 7, 6 1/2, 6
    3. Starburst Burpees: 7 1/2, 7, 6 1/2, 7 NEW: 7, 6, 6, 5 1/2

  • http://twitter.com/IronFistGirl Tara Fox

    Hiya Rachael,

Ive tried looking for sandbags at our sports stores with no luck eg- Amart sports, sportspower etc. At the moment I use my sons backpack and fill it with weights as i live in a rural area with not much to offer – but when in town i found a long bag and have decided that i will fill it with sand or rice bags like Zu suggested. Otherwise I would buy it online through bodyrock, ive already got my timer and love it ! Now im contemplating buying a dip station as i am using alternatives. Good luck and if you find one can you let me know. Cheers fellow Aussie Bodyrocker

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=706388249 Tori Larson Bradford

You can find online interval timers if you can exercise near a computer. That’s what I did until I got my interval timer.

Helo Nickol, thank you very much for your post and suggestion.. shame i live in small country and in small town, “to go box” are nothing what i can ask for.. but i dont eat out very often, because they dont have healthly choices and food in restaurant is usually very salty for me, so nothing what i desire to eat. Hm, but i dont mind salty potato chips, strange :)
I have never tried kale chips, i have to do try it, thank you for that tip :)

Frozen slices of mango, what a cool tip for coming summer !! I will definately try this tip, thank you for that!
And you are very right about counting calories, oh well im covard, i still think this will freak me out… i know, i have more income than outcome :(
I started 1.of may and i hope to start counting calories in one month. This is something im really afraid of, but i definately need it.. awwww :))
Thank you very much for your support!!

I agree with this, Laidie. I can’t starve myself for weeks on end to lose 2-3 pounds, but I can easily fast for a day to recalibrate everything. Plus it really makes you rethink your eating habits. Good idea for 2x a week.

  • Migoshman

    Hi everybodyrockers :)

Burpees forever and ever, and without waiting, my stats ^^ :
    one legged burpee : 7, 7, 7, 7
    side burpee: 10, 9, 8, 8
    starbust burpee: 9, 8, 7, 9

I thought it would be hard for my arms, but in fact, it is with my legs I suffered ^^

see ya zuzana and freddy ^^

PS : I sang “burpees are forever” during 2 rounds, then nothing went out of my mouth except breath faster and faster ^^ (sorry for my approximative english : )

  • Migoshman

    Hi again ^^
I had forgotten to say maybe I won’t do “burpees forever” but I will Bodyrock forever and ever, that’s sure !
Like you say, it has become a philosophy now :) If only I had someone to push me sometimes xD but right now, it is music loud (trance or dance) and let’s workout !

Well happy birthday and have a nice days !

    Hi Annebel!
If you do your BodyRock on a daily basis, you shouldn’t only live on veggies and fruit – that kind of diet is for Hollywood stars! No one deserves to starve. You need ENOUGH calories to boost your metabolism, not as little as possible. I also suggest LOTS of lean protein! For example: try to add more lean meat/fish on your bread and maybe eat a slice of bread less, instead, compared with peeled raw carrots and a piece of fruit as “dessert”. I have also great experiences with eating nuts and nut butters, because they contain so much goodness and are high in protein. Greek low fat youghurt (no added sugar) with berries and some nut butter on top is a great, filling breakfast. I hope you could use this ;) And YES, you can still have your carbs without gaining weight, as long as you stay active and remember your veggies.

I am a good example myself: my weight is higher than before I started BodyRockin’, but my body is SO much more tight, firm and toned, so I just ban the weight scale completely now. And I still have my daily chocolates/piece of cake if I want to! I KNOW I can live without it, but in my opinion life should be a healthy balance. To me, it doesn’t seem healthy to forbid yourself a treat or abandon everything that isn’t super healthy. It makes many people very fanatic! Just my thoughts :)
Hope this was a little useful.
    Love, Maria

Thank you for the support Chris :)
I take glucosamine it does help I think, today I started Mark Lauren’s Master class program it was upper body muscular endurance, quite different from what I was used to do but it felt great and was quite challenging. I have already found a lot of exercises that I still can do, I feel much better I was afraid yesterday because I didn’t want to become like all these sedentary people who have a bunch of reasons not to workout… Anyway I know I won’t be like that ;)

thank you again and have a great day or night ;)

    Hi guys,

Just finished this! I still hate burpees! but they are getting slightly easier. One legs are really hard for me, I kind of like the side burpees as I think they really engage my abs, but I find it really hard to do the push up part. The starburst almost feel easy after doing the other two, (for the first one! lol)
    one leg 5, 5, 4, 4
    side 7, 5, 5, 6
    starburst 7, 6, 5, 5
I then jogged in place for the 12 intervals again. (it was supposed to be high knees! lol)

You have my support too. I’ve only been doing this for just over 2 months, but I can see a little change. Mostly I feel stronger, but I have lost an inch or two.

omg were you looking at me? lol

Thanks for the info! I’m always struggling with my diet in terms of I want something sustainable. So no junk food ever is not sustainable for me, or no beer ever…I admit it’s bbq season! I try and ask myself will I feel better before or after I eat it? If I still get the go ahead because it’s a treat I’d really like I try and do something extra that day (take the dog for an extra long hike or something) to earn it. Sadly this doesn’t always happen! I like the 90/10 method, that’s sustainable. Like you said we work to hard not to enjoy a treat occasionally! My hard part is seeing results and not wanting to hinder those with treats! I’ll try this though!

I do have a question about the fruit as a treat though? Are we only supposed to eat fruit as treats?? I could easily become a “fruititarian” as I LOVE all kinds of fruit. If I buy a big of grapes one day, it’ll be gone in about 2 days :p I wasn’t sure if you guys were referring to replacing junk food with fruit or cutting fruit down in your day-to-day diet. Just wanted to check!

    Cheers,
    Teryn

    Also my score was:
    One-leg: 6, 5, 5, 4
    Side: 8, 7, 7, 7
    Starburst: 7, 6, 7, 7

  • Lila ♥

Wow!! Your insane hahaha, good for you!

  • Lila ♥

Oh my gosh!! I thought this workout was going to be a peace of cake! But nooooooooooo…it was brutal!! I had to do a little cheatting at the end, by that, I mean I had to take a longer break than 10 seconds twice(sorry) but I felt my heart was going to stop. I was listening to my body. (Oh, and for warming up I did a 1000 skipping jumps in 11 min) Here is my score:

one leg burpee and side jump 8,7,6,6

    side burpee 9,8,8,7

    starbust burpee 8,7,8,9

    cooldown

Take care you all and have a wonderfull day =) !!

I like that saying, thanks for sharing it!

  • MinnaK

Aaah the feeling of accomplishment! <3

I pushed really hard today! I think i found a new level in my training, i've been doing only fairly good in my workouts lately but today i pushed further than "ok". Feels good :)

    Today's score (Old score):

    One leg burpee: 7-7-5-6 (6-5-4-3)

    Side Burpee: 8-8-6-6
    (6-4-3-4)

    Starburst burpee: 8-7-6-7 (7-5-5-4)

    Have a nice weekend everyone!

  • MinnaK

Taryn, the best and easiest way probably is to just follow the week schedule as it goes. That’s what I did when i started. After a while you’ll see changes in your strength, it won’t take long :)

  • Faye

I finally plucked up the courage to give this a shot.
    1 Leg burpees: 8 6 6 6
    Side burpees: 7 7 7 8
    Starburst burpees: 8 9 7 10

Burpees Are Forever? I can barely handle 12 mins!

The total came to 89 so I did an extra 11 to round it up.

  • Anonymous

Just to be clear and not get anyone mad at me…I think she would be a great Bond girl, but I think the villains usually are more interesting. –Chris

  • Faye

My martial arts school (@ne_martialarts:twitter on twitter) are almost at the end of the 100 burpee challenge. We’re on day 92. The kids are doing better than the adults and whilst some people have missed days because they haven’t been at class, it’s amazing how much stronger everyone is getting.

  • tee

they were eggies from easter! they are supposed to be hidden! lol

  • tee

You can do it anyway you like. Zuz usually posts a workout or challenge most everyday, but I like to go back sometimes near the beginning of this site, to the workouts then, when Zuz was still blonde, though she’s not as animated as she is now, I compete better with her scores, because I am not that fit yet! lol
She recommends her stretching routine after each workout to help avoid stiffness. Its under stretching and cooldowns in the toolbar at the top.

  • Donna

    Thanks Lila:)

Your not the first to state this…lol

  • http://twitter.com/JudyINS Judith Huberdeau

    HI Zuzana & Freddy!!!
I did this workout today and it was my first workout after a crazy week!!! I cannot find the word in english for that pain you have in your neck after a bad night sleeping on the floor!! Anyways, I had to recover from it and I was sooo happy to rock this Burpees workout outside today!!!! I#m very happy of my scores… I felt stronger then ever!! I was also away for a couple days and I was missing you guys sooo much :) Here#s me scores for today:
    One Leg Burpees: 9-6-6-6
    Side Burpees: 8-6-6-6
    Starburst Burpees: 6-8-6-6
I had a goood stretch after and the way I feel now is awesome!! :)

    Thanks for evrything!!
    Judith xx

  • Lila ♥

I love this video!! It let’s us know that Zuzanita started the same way we all started, pushing hard and putting all her strengh and effort in the exercises. Does anybody know form when is this video?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001076654777 Stephani Livingston

I loved this workout! It was killer though :) I didn’t do one legged burpees this time because last time I did them I hurt both of my ankles and couldn’t workout for two weeks. So I did regular burpees instead. And this was my first time for starburst burpees and I love them!

    Regular burpees: 9-6-6-5

    Side burpees: 7-6-6-6

    Starburst burpee: 7-6-7-7

Then 20 mins of skipping outside with my 3 girls! Now off to work the 12 night shift tonight.

  • KIMBERLAKE93

OMF……I will put this one down as THE hardest workout of all time for me! WOW!! Burpies are forever…..annoying! LOLOLOLOL! But such an amazing workout, thanks Zuz!! I had to cut each round short, not pushing myself as much as I could because I couldn’t breathe!!! I looked at myself in the mirror after this workout and NEVER in my life have I been that red!!!!!! LOL! I really liked the Starburst Burpees and found them the easiest actually. PS…Freddy….SO nice seeing you on the OTHER side of the video camera in this video! :) You two are totally so sweet and amazing together!

    One Leg Burpee & Side Jump= 7/6/5/5
    Side Burpee= 6/5/5/5
    Starburst Burppe= 4/5/6/7

  • Sarihndipity83

Thank you, Laidie :) I totally agree about the mentally clarity. It was beyond difficult going through it, but as you said.. reaching day 10 was definitely worth it ;)

  • Isabelle G.

    @zuzana:disqus
Hi you sweetie! Hi Freddy! I’m done, completely. On this Mother’s day, I had a fantastic “active” day with my family (my two big boys and husband); we went strolling around in a beautiful little town outside in the countryside, and I went for a 8-km run with my youngest – he was riding his bicycle- while the older one went his dad cycling up the mountain. We shared lunch after that, and came back in the glorious late-afternoon sun… And now, while they went in town to play tennis (I said active day, hahaha!), I just completed this workout “burpees are forever and ever”!
    My scores:
    one-leg : 8 -7 -7 -7
    side: 10 -9.5 -9 -10
    starburst: 10.5 -8 -9 -10
I’m getting in really good shape, because of you, guys! I’m a proud mother of two very fit boys, an athletic husband, and I’m proud ’cause I can follow them, I’m strong and active, and really, it makes me really happy. Being, at 43 years old, in this amazing shape is very good for the moral….
    Ha!
Have a good day, and warm kisses from Canada!
    Isabelle

  • Annebel Wind

Jeah, big wow…. My God how can you do this before your breakfast?! AMAZING!

  • Donna

    Thanks Epona:)

  • Donna

    Thanks Annebel:)

It was the first time I worked out before my breakfast:)

  • Hazel

@crxgirl:disqus I can relate. In the same situation except that I gained 5 kilos in two weeks due to birthdays and an all out combo of celebrations. But you know what? Its okay, because at least you acknowledged the gain and you can now set it aside and keep going. Thats what we bodyrockers do. We fall down, yes, but we pick ourselves up and we keep going. And in time, those two kilos will melt away and you will end up looking smashing! Chin up and smile, and then do a bodyrock workout and feel those kilos melt day by day. :)

  • Hazel

@acac61484a6bf6e78111405b93dd6af6:disqus Holy hell, this is motivation for me to get out of bed and burpee my morning away before breakfast. How you did it I dont know….

  • Rodienne

Hey Guys, I do zuzana’s workouts every day BEFORE breakfast. I find it a great way to get up and start the day on a good note. When I don’t work out because i don’t wake up, i feel sleepy all day. My body seems like got used to it for waking up. Many say it is good to workout in the morning to boost your metabolism. I find it great so that i firstly wake up and secondly take my first meal i.e. breakfast after i have worked out. I hate to eat when i have not done anything yet. You guys should try it, this week the workouts are only 12minutes long so you can afford waking up 15 minutes earlier ! :) try it! If the workouts are not ready yet online i find an old routine, and do the daily workout the next day. When i feel like it, or like eating something sinful, I do another workout after work before eating.

By the way i prepare the workout before i go to sleep, so when i wake up I already know what I am going to do and have it all written down.People that are not morning persons should try it at least for this week to see if they see any difference :) Although I dont know if one week is enough to see difference :)

  • Bverner

Wow….my arms are still so weak…I might need to start incorporating more arms exercises every other day….ugh. But I am dripping I MEAN DRIPPING in sweat right now. Burpees are soooo hard! Off for a run now though!!!

    My Score:

    One Leg Burpee and Side Jump=6, 5, 6, 6
    SIde Burpee=7,7,6,6
    Starburst Burpee=7,6,6,7

  • Anonymous

It’s just like Sara said. Read and watch this post: http://www.bodyrock.tv/2011/02/15/dive-bombers-and-weight-loss/
I’m really motivated with this site, so I visit it everyday, and I don’t fell good if I skip my daily workout more than 2days.
I really never gave up on eating sweat things, so I try to eat chocolate or other sweets just one day per week. I really try to focus on what I’m eating. I don’t have anything at home that I know that I like and is going to ruin my efforts, because I know that If I have something sweat around I just eat it withouth thinking. That’s what I do to stay on track.

  • Donna

    Hello Hazel,

This was my first time doing a workout before breakfast:)

You can do it to if you really want too:)

  • http://www.facebook.com/Samain Gabriela Hanuskova

I was not really excited about this workout for 2day, specially after 4hours in high heels, but I had it already written down in my workout diary so I did it:

    One-leg burpee : my old score: 6,5,4,4 new:10,8,8,8

Side burpee : my old score:6,6,6,6 new:
    10,8,8,8

Starburst burpee :my old score:7,6,6,8 new:10,8,8,7.5

….wow …. I have no idea how did I manage to do it so good 2day maybe it was because of I was proud about myself for managing my final project in school (I had 20 minutes for defending my work….and I did it !!! jupiii It’s done!….now I have to wait until 2nd of June when I have my final exam and I’m done….bye bye school ….bye bye my sweet home….and welcome new life :)))
    …I’m so excited… :)

I always try to workout before breakfast if I can. Gets it over with and you have something to look forward to! BUT You shouldn’t do it if you’re doing a longer muscle-focused workout (in that case the food would help power you through and you can perform badly if you don’t have the energy ready for you), but with short workouts like these it’s fine. Same with most types of cardio before breakfast. As long as it’s not too intense and not for too long, working out in the mornings actually burns MORE fat than if you ate beforehand. So good for you! Burn that fat for summer!! :D

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=652066651 Colleen Keith

     OUCH! My shoulders hate me!

    One leg burpee: 7,8,7,8
    Side Burpee: 8,8,8,8
    Starburst Burpee: 7,8,8,8

    Total: 93 burpeeeeeesss!!! :D

  • Donna

Thanks Colleen for the positive comment:)

I have only ever workout once before breakfast but I will try and do it more often:)

  • Sheldond

My scored for the Burpees workout

    1. 10 7 5
    2. 8 7 5
    3. 8 8 7

    Excellent workout routine

  • lUCy

    hi my score:
    9-8-7-9
    7-8-8-8
    9-8-9-10
    ;)

  • Jenn

I did this today, and here are my scores:

    One Leg Burpees & Side Jump:  6, 5.5, 6, 5.5

    Side Burpees:  7.5, 6.5, 6.5, 6.5

    Starburst Burpees:  6, 6, 6, 6

That was tough!  I feel good now, though.  I did have to pause in the middle to discipline my daughter, who was getting in the way and jumped on me during one of the burpees.

I got a few good all-the-way down (chin to floor) pushups at the start, then for most of it I could only go half-way down (upper arms parallel to body), and in the last round I had to use my knees a little bit.

  • Anonymous

Today was the day for this one. I have been avoiding it ever since it was put up for the first time. wow ! I thought I would pass out by the end of it, I was walking around the house to bring my heart rate down. But do I feel good now !!! Good because it’s all done, first thing in the morning, good because I finally did it !

  • Anonymous

I did this workout today (July 7th).
    Scores:
One leg burpee and side jump: 4, 4, 4, 3
    Side burpee: 4, 4, 4, 4
    Starburst burpee: 4, 4, 4, 3

It doesn’t look like a lot, but I am so tired! I was still sore from yesterday’s Cardio Legs and Core Workout. :p

  • MariaBjørgJepsen

I always, always fear this workout!!!! Because already before I start, I know I will breathe hard and feel like stopping to take a puke after 2. round, only. That makes me even MORE PROUD when I push through the whole 12 minutes of pure torture. And I never feel like doing more than 1 workout, when it comes to this killer!!! That says it all :)
    My older and new scores:
    1. One Leg Burpee & Side Jump: 8-6-6-7 –> 10-8-8-8 –> 12-10-10-10
    2. Side Burpees: 9-9-8-8 –> 13-11-11-11 –> 14-13-12-12
    3. Starburst Burpees: 8-8-9-9 –> 12-11-11-11 –> 12-13-13-13Now I am off to 6 days of music festival here in Denmark. I will miss you guys A LOT!!!Love, Maria

  • MariaBjørgJepsen

Hi Mark! Thank you VERY much for your sweet comment, it made me really happy and proud. I will see if I can make someone shoot me sweating one day. I DO NOT promise a charming sight, ha ha ;)
    Love, Maria

  • Sarah G

Revisited this today! :) Very proud of my new scores!

    1 leg burpee + side jump: 9/6/6/6  (old: 6/6/5/5)
    Side burpee: 9/8/7/7  (old: 8/6/6/5)
    Starburst burpee: 9/7/8/6  (old: 8/6/5/6)

I am sweating like MAD! I only took 1 break throughout for water, and sometimes lost some time by changing songs (I need music to workout to, much more motivating :] ) Thanks for this kick-butt short workout!

  • http://zoe-in-wonderland.blogspot.com Zoe Quixote

seriously, i have to go get a new yoga mat, today. since i didn’t want to do get ups on the hardwood floor, i did this one today. i improved my scores, sliiiiiiiightly. but that’s just from last time, the first time i recorded them. do you know, i think this was the first body rock workout i ever did? i don’t know what ever made me think i could do more of them! sooo hard!!!

    7  6  5 6    SECOND TIME: 8, 6, 6, 6
    8  7 7 7            9, 8, 7, 7

WHEW!!! This one is a real cardio challenge.  Don’t get me wrong–it left my legs feeling wobbly, but the hardest thing to get through is the cardio, for me.  It’s funny–you know you’re a BodyRocker when push ups are the “rest” part of an exercise, like they were for me with these burpees.

one leg burpee and side jump: 8-7-7-7
    side burpee: 10-9-9-8
    starburst burpee: 10-10-9-9

I was having a down day, and while I’m getting a little sick and part of me wanted to rest, I really wanted the pop that working out gives me.  I think now I’ll do Halo of Sweat workout.

xoxo to all BodyRockers!  Hope you’re all doing well!  Very excited for new changes coming!

  • Brittany Verner

Oh my goodness….this was a REALLY brutal workout. I can’t catch my breath right now. It was so hard but I loved it now that I made it all the way through.

    One-leg burpee: 6,6, 6,5
    Side Burpee: 7,7,7,7
    Starburst Burpee: 6,7,7,7
