Beat Me In Burpees Challenge!

Hi BodyRockers,

Last Thursday we had 114,000 visits to our little community – the most we have ever had in a single day. 114,000 may seem like a lot, but when you compare it to the millions of people surfing the web every second it very quickly becomes a drop in the bucket of all the people online.

Most people go into a task and figure out what the requirements are, and then put forth the absolute minimum amount of effort they can get away with.

A slightly smaller percentage of people look at the task and deliver enough effort to do what is expected of them – nothing less, nothing more.

The smallest percentage of people push their effort into overdrive. They set their goals above and beyond what is required – they push harder, fight stronger and move their bodies faster. For these people personal best scores have a short term expiry date. Incidentally these are also the people that see that fastest and most impressive results. Around here these people are called BodyRockers. Sometimes you can make the biggest splash by being just a drop in the bucket.

Enjoy today’s challenge,

Freddy & Zuzana

46 and my legs feel like jelly

  • Lila ♥

Great! Burpees don’t kill me (unless I have to do a 1000 of them lol) I can’t wait to do this challenge tomorrow. What was your score Zuzanita?

  • Kendra

Well, that makes me feel better that it took you over an hour to do the 600 rep workout.  Halfway in, I was at 25 mins!  I stopped here because I had to meet someone for lunch and didn’t have time to complete the whole workout.  But, I will do the whole thing tomorrow.  I am kinda dreading it, yet, really excited!  I am really sorry, even after only doing half of it.

  • Ugamerican

Just when I think you cannot make another version of burpees??? Truly the universal workout!

    Hi guys
Just completed after sleeping in and missing my workout this morn (baby kept me up in night), was inspired by honeymoon burpees everywhere, saw this post and just did it!! COMPLETED 52 IN 10 MIN AND HAD TO CLEAN UP MY 1 YR OLD STUFFING HIS MORNING TEA IN MY AMPLIFIER DURING THIS TIME ALSO ;)

  • Anonymous

I will honestly carry this message for the entire week.
    I’m an EFFIN Bodyrocker!!
I have been training with my cousin (we are beginners) to be able to complete the 550 massacre and we are well on our way to be able to do it by the 1st of July!

  • Donna

I did a weigh in this morning because I felt a little down that I couldn’t participate in this weeks BR workouts but my weight is the same without exercising for 3 days and that lifted my spirits up:) I have cut down my portion sizes so I don’t put on any weight even though winter starts here tomorrow:) Maybe I can concentrate 100% on my diet the next four days and lose some weight before I start BR workouts to my full potential again:)

4 more days to go till I start making big splashes in the ocean:)

    Hello Bodyrockers !

In the mean time keep up the good work i love seeing everyones scores and success. :) much love

  • Hal

Only 56.  I found my thighs burning like crazy during the tuck jumps.  I think they were still a bit burned out from the 600 reps yesterday.

  • http://www.facebook.com/indomavel Patricia Grade

What is there not to like Zuzana? I’ve liked you here, on Facebook, on youtube and wherever you are for a month now and I haven’t regreted it so far.

About what you wrote on your post, I have to say that sometimes my override is really below the average you have here, but nonetheless I always go for my maximum.

Yesterday, though, I only did one round of the 600 reps, was feeling absolutely squashed and even so, I felt so bad for not doing the second round!
Today I can’t even laugh, ’cause my lateral abs are so sore, but those 300reps left undone are haunting me like a ghost in a haunted house!

I push myself, sometimes to the limit, other times to what I think is an average. Even so, my husband says your workouts are too violent for him, and we’re talking about a guy who can run for 50min in a row, without feeling tired and has been a professional soccer player for the best part of his life!

So yeah, I feel like a bodyrocker! So much so, that my youngest son keeps watching me workout and when I’m huffing and puffing he says, Go mom, you can do it, you’re strong like Zuzana!

Nothing better than that kind of support, right?

  • Samantha R

It was only yesterday I did the 600 rep ‘Kill The Bodyrockers’ workout so 30 ‘Dedicated Burpees’ in I was feeling the pain so much in my quads it was unreal.  Managed 63 reps in total (gutted I didn’t reach 70) then 20 min skipping.  Thank you both. Sx

  • Isabelle G.

    Burpees?  OH….. it’s gonna be a tough one.  Especially after yesterday’s 600 reps… hm.
O.k.!!  I did 52 burpees, with my sore quads and my tired abs.  And now, I feel all my muscles move with each and every movement I make, haha!

  • Migoshman

    hi there, everybodyrockers ^^

well, I did 55 reps, and *ouch* my thighs again ^^

I did not manage to do the whole of the 600 reps workout yesterday, I did only 300 reps in 29’53 : too tired from the 300 squats workout (where I did it in 9.29 but could not do anything else during 2 days xD )

When I was at Roland Garros, ia sked a friend to take a photo whan I was doing a burpee in front of some famous players there, but it is all black on the photo -_- But I was there, I swear ! ^^

  • http://www.runforthebikini.com RunForTheBikini

I LOVE this message.  I like to think that I’m in the smallest %, then again I’m sure there are times that I can give more, but I am always pushing to become better, faster stronger.    And I am very proud of the body I have created :D

Will do this after I get my run in.

  • Anonymous

I can see this is going to be a leg burn out. I’ll do this tomorrow.

I thought we were going to revisit the original burpee challenge from a year a bit ago where it was plank, reptile p/u for each side then a blaster p/u, finished with a jump of course. Zuzana thought she’d easily be able to do 100 in 10 minutes but only finished 57. This one looks less cardio but I know I’m going to die on the hops.

  • Anonymous

get better first, your abs got a good workout puking ;-p

  • Kat:)

I could not beat you Zuzana, Freddy.  I got only 60 done in 10 minutes.  I know I could have pushed harder but was taking it a little easy this morning.  I will try again later to beat my score.  Thanks Again you guys!
    peace- Kat

It went well today, it went better than I hoped! I did 78 in the 10 minute interval, and that after yesterday’s 600 reps! I liked this burpee variation, it really targets the legs and that’s exactly what I’m after!
    Looking forward to tomorrow’s :)

  • Janessa Reimer

i just finished this challenge! I am so proud of myself i did 44 burpees all with regular pushups! i thought there was no way i could do that many. Thank you zuzanna and freddy and all bodyrockers for your inspiration and encouragement!

  • Mary Lou

    40. I did stop once for water.

  • Mary Lou

    Wow Rosalie! That is incredible!

  • Svenja R.

yesterday and today i overate like crazy.. and when i was munching my waaay too big portion of pasta i was thinking “well svenja, that’s freakin gross..” :D
so now that I’m overload with pasta i feel horrible but at the same time i can gladly say that these days are a rarity now.. a year ago they were part of my day to day life.

so I’m really excited about this one =) and i will push like i never pushed before..

  • Jas Bee

aaaand. I’m dead! :) In a good way!! I did this straight after the Run The World routine.

73 burpees. Jumping back was maybe the hardest bit.. poor legs. :)

Doh, I just realised I forgot to do the Jump Tuck at the end. O.o I just hopped back- and forwards. I should get some minus Burpees for that. :(

  • Samantha R

You poor thing Tara – take care, pamper yourself and get better soon.  Sx

  • http://www.facebook.com/ildiko.mazar Ildikó Sünci Mázár

I wept and screamed like a baby already after the first 20. How I managed to finish at 65, is a mystery. My body hurts all over – especially my thighs! I want my MOMMY!!!

  • AudraFit

This was my burpee therapy today haha! My poor poor upper body from all those 3D Pushups and Dive thingies yesterday. I managed 66 and only thought I’d get 50 at best so I’m happy. Thanks Zuzana!

  • Anonymous

    I knew it!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=706388249 Tori Larson Bradford

So I did 42.  My goal was to get to 40 and I beat that!  Burpees are so hard for me.  I think it is the jumping.  I really need to build up those muscles more.  But hey I’ve only been at it for 3.5 months.  I hope in a year I’ll  be able to do a lot more.  After I was finished my 3 year old came and did a couple of burpees.  I wish I had had my camera.  Then my 5 year old wanted to join in.  It was fun.  I think I might shower and then join them on the trampoline.

Oh and everyone can rejoice, we finally got some nice weather here in Utah.  It’s been a very rainy and cold spring.  I’m looking forward to spending some good time outside.

Zuzanna and Freddy, thank you for all that you do.  You saved my life with these workouts.  I was so bored with the other things I was doing.  I’m in so much better shape then I ever have been and it’s all thanks to you!

  • http://twitter.com/GoustiFruit GoustiFruit

Once again I set up my timer to (4 x 2’30) so I could evaluate my pace and compare to my goal which was… to beat you :-p
    - First beep, 18 burpees, right in the good pace, but feeling it will be hard to sustain until the end
    - Second beep, oops, only 34, I have to go faster if I want to keep in reach with you
    - Third beep, 50, I know I won’t be able to beat you :’-(
    - Pushing, pushing, pu… beeeep !!! Arf, 65: released that it is the end, but deceived that I didn’t beat you !

It seems that both of you are on fire since you’ve been under the sun of California ! Zuzana keeps posting scores from outer space, and Freddy is able to do as well :-p

  • Anonymous

41 with regular push-ups, yay! Really happy with this =)

  • Manda_n_OK

60, and I am feeling strong and successful. ;)  yeah, I probably could have hit 70 if I didn’t stop to kick out my legs a few times, but hey, I’m human – unlike Zuzana & Freddy!  ;)

I topped this with a well rounded shoulder workout and now off to to the movies!  Two days by the pool coming up!  YAY STAYCATION!  ;)

  • Manda_n_OK

that’s so awesome.  I do the same thing.  I glance at the timer to see what pace I’m on.  it does actually help out when it gets down to the grind, because i push harder and think more on the goal than the burn in my legs!  you did great, and I know your feeling of exhaustion!  I only got out 60, but dang it, those last 10 were 110% effort because I was so determined to get as close to 70 as I could!

  • http://kenjibankhead.posterous.com/ ashtromanius

i thought I was only going to get out 15 because of the 600 rep thing I did yesterday. But… at 5months pregnant I knocked out 45! I was stoked… Glad for all of you who got close to F&Z scores :) you all are amazing!

  • ZoeRocker

Well I must say Zuzana, you are looking leaner now. Maybe it’s all those crazy workouts last week. Perhaps not so many cashews??? I have the same problem with friut, nuts, and peanut butter. Once I start, I just can’t stop. I quite often will give myself the personal challenge of not eating any nuts or peanut butter for one week. Somehow if I make it a “challenge” I have a better time sticking with it. I remember when you posted the diet challenge to cut out our “weakness foods” for one week, I had already not been eating peanut butter for 5 days. I started the challenge, and didn’t eat it for 12 days! After that I didn’t crave it as much.

You must be feeling less stressed. Congrats on the new house! It seems like you are very happy there in LA. I am going there for a wedding in August, maybe I’ll run into you and we can do some burpees:)

  • Anonymous

I finished 46 reps in 10min. and 70 reps in 14min. :) I wanted beat a personal road block that Iv’e been having about not being STRONG enough. It felt great to be able to finish 70 (even though I could have done more with longer time)
Added on 20 V crunches and 10 monkey pushups. Did weights and later going running with my sister on the beach!

  • lizzy

72 :) but I’m sweating like hell at the moment!
Does anyone else also feel pain in the shoulder when making a lot of push-ups? last time I had that pain, I overdid myself with mountainclimbers. or do you have any modifications to prevent that?
    thank you!

  • Anonymous

I managed 53 burpees and I am out of breath!! this is a great challenge :) thank u guys!

  • Anonymous

    Hi Lizzy,

You might want to make a special emphases of warming up your shoulders and be careful to avoid Rotator Cuff injuries  You could search on exercises to help build the strength of your Shoulders as well.  They are easily injured and take some time to heal so again be careful.–Chris

  • Craig

55 was my count Sunci Darlin. No weeping or wailing from this man. No call from the battlefield. ……..Simply didn’t have the breath in me!!

    Eighty!

This is the first time I’ve ever beat Zuzana! SKEEET!

  • Anonymous

    Eighty! SKEEET!

  • Kellie

I was amazed that I got as far as I did. I managed to get 61 reps completed. Now as soon as my dryer is finished I will do my run.

  • Kat:)

    no baby yet? :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1746562272 Cynthia Hannah

Don’t go all the way down to floor in push up . Go to half way mark. Also , incorporating rotator exercises with exercise band really helps. Sometimes when my shoulder is feeling wonky I will back off a bit on depth of push up and incorporate exercises for rotator. Works every time  for me :)

  • Anonymous

Omy gosh! i did 64 of these in the 10 minutes, then i did 7 more (redid the 64th) to make an even 70 in 38 more seconds.  I dedicated this challenge to pushing to my limit, not just surviving with a decent number but going beyond.  i was hoping to beat u guys but im rly happy w what i did because i never stopped and let the clock run for seconds.  I did stop every 10 to put a quick tally down so i didnt lose count

  • Axelle

51 dedicated burpees. I did this in the afternoon after running in the morning–this hurt my legs a LOT more than running! I always think that the pushups will hurt most for burpees, but it is always the jumps that hurt me most–especially my quads!

  • AudraFit

Lizzy, arm circles are great for warming up the shoulders. Hold your arms out straight and lateral and try a couple minutes of forward then backward big and small circles. Hope this helps :)

  • Kat:)

Ok still did not beat you Zuzana and Fredddy but I beat my old score from this morning… I did 67 burpees in 10 min and yes correct form :)

  • http://twitter.com/LoveKristyxo Kristy

I’m a day behind so I just finished this. I did 45 burpees and am kind of bummed about it. The jumping really tires me out and makes it hard to breathe so this slows me down. But I have only been at this for a little over a month, so I guess I am proud to do 45 with full pushups :).

  • Elkcloner82

In ten minutes I was able to burp out 40 burpees.

  • Sarah G

I did 61 dedicated burpees.. still recovering a little from the new 600 rep workout. This variation really made my thighs burn! Just what I need :) Thanks

  • Sara

51 – not the highest score, but I’ve only just started bodyrocking again after two weeks off after having two teeth pulled. I have a good measuring stick for when I’m pushing as hard as I can, because I have asthma – if I’m wheezing and having trouble breathing, it’s hard enough. :) Or if I feel like I’m about to throw up. If I get to either of those two points, I pull back for a few seconds until I can manage more.
Glad you guys got the house you wanted!

  • Sara

Like someone said below, you think 50 odd push ups (regular; from the toes and all the way down) would be the hardest part, but oh NO – those jump tucks are EVIL EVIL EVIL. :D

  • http://twitter.com/cschuurr Chelsea Schuur

woo get it bodyrocker momma! =D

  • lUCy

Hi I did my favorite number, twice, 55 burpees, I might 5 more but I did like 3 pauses to drunk water. But happy with my score :D oh yeah and I did 200 abdominals plus ;D

  • lUCy

  • MariaBjørgJepsen

I am proud I even did this challenge, because I kind of fear all Burpees a bit, since after I finished the 400 Burpee workout over 2 days. It should be the other way around, right? ha ha :)
Well, I said “to hell with it” and started. I finished 79 reps (WHY not 80?) and my thighs were burning right from the beginning. Nice short sweat, anyway. Thank you my dears ;)
    Love, Maria

  • MariaBjørgJepsen

You are righ, I don’t believe how she can lean down in almost 1 week, only! Its incredible. Not that it was needed :D I have the same “problem” with peanut butter. I adore that stuff sooo badly, ha ha.

  • Anonymous

I did this today at lunch and only managed 47, but I know I wasn’t giving it my max effort. I came home disappointed about my score for today and the fact that I only managed one round of the 600 Rep Fat Burner over the weekend. So instead of moping about I made up my mind I would do the 600 hundred again tonight, and this time I would finish, no matter what. And I did! I am so proud that I pushed through and did not let Brutus win, though he gave it a good fight. My times for all 600, first round: 30.26 / second round: 29. 23 (few seconds better than the first because halfway I wanted it to be over so badly that I just pushed as hard as I could just so the torture would end). This was intense, but the feeling afterwards for not giving up is amazing. Thank you!

  • jazzy

Ok. so according to my husband (he was keeping count) i did 67. The statement my legs are on fire is an understatement. 5 secs before my timer went off. i had to run to the back yard, yes i admit it i puked, just water tho. I pushed my self hard cuz my had a very very stressful day. Thank you for providing us sweat therapy. :D

  • http://twitter.com/IronFistGirl Tara Fox

haha your right Lemarge ! Thankyou both

  • MariaBjørgJepsen

    Hey sweetie :)
Thanks a lot for your encouragement! I understand you gave your legs a rest – it sounds like you needed it! Yeah, I just got home from work and saw today’s workout, it looks like fun! I will do it tomorrow morning. This evening, I am going to a very fine dining place in the woods with my colleagues (our restaurant’s summer staff-party) which I am looking SO much forward to. I am a sucker for high quality foods and wine, mmmm. how was your day? And where was it you lived exactly? I forgot – sorry!
    HUGS, Maria

    Hey,
Well it sound like you will have a hell of an evening..good for you…I will stay at home today, do my workout, visit my mom..this sort of things..
I live in Croatia, my town is Rijeka…you can check it out here

I was thinking of doing the burpee challenge and the new workout today, I feel like I need it…tomorrow is a big day, and I have to take my mind of waiting..(interview for a new job..maybe)..

Big kiss and have a wonderful time tonight!

  • Charlie D.

Oh, no.  I have to post this just for the shame.  38.  It was total laziness too – not that I was too tired.  I might need to do a little extra workout today.

  • Charlie D.

    That is incredible!

  • Ugamerican

    50 dedicated burpees! :))
Couldn’t even do two in a row three months ago… You guys changed my life.

  • lizzy

thank you so much, all of you!

  • Bverner

Me and two of my girlfriends just did this workout in front of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. We didn’t have a camera though and it is nighttime now….but we are going to do this again during the day and take pictures to send. :)

  • Annie_B

I did this dedicated burpees today and…..didn’t beat you Zuzi :) My arms and legs are still sore from the 600 rep workout. However, I managed to completed 69 reps total!!! I though I could squeeze out 45-50 at most lol. Super INTENSE 10 minutes!! I felt like my heart was gonna jump out haha. Felt so much energy afterword. Thank you so much and I can’t wait to see the sneak peek of your new place ;D

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1746562272 Cynthia Hannah

Hey guys , hope he move has been smooth into the new place ;-) I just did this super fun challenge tonight and followed it with the Amazing Abs w/o. I am disappointed wit h my score , but glad I kept good form and paced myself. I took a rest day yesterday because my leg has been a bit jacked up and needed it. With that being said , my leg hasn’t hindered my performance so far ,so I can not cop out on that. I think , no I know I could have pushed harder. I am going to revisit this one again next week ;-) myscore:62 reps

  • Donna

So excited this is my first day back for my daily dose of BR workouts after an injury with my ankle 5 days ago:) Today I have done the 550 rep fat massacre time 22:15, Amazing abs and now this:):):)

I did 66 reps of the dedicated Burpee (and that’s with a sore shoulder and recovering ankle) in 10 min and I have come to realize that I am one DEDICATED BODYROCER…

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Rosalie-Salemink/618241291 Rosalie Salemink

    Thanks, I impressed myself too!

I really wanted to beat your scores, but completed only 65 sets.)))

  • Anonymous

I’m still a beginner and my cardio isn’t all that great yet, but I did the same form Zuzana did for her workout and I managed to get 34. Push ups alone I can push out like nothing, but adding the jumping and other movement is what kicked my tush lol. I know I didn’t get much, but I’m very proud of myself for pushing through it! I worked up a nice sweat with it lol. I love that these exercises aren’t your typical boring routines. Thanks Zuzana! I know I will get much better with time. I’m not giving up!

  • Migoshman

    Great job, Courtney ^^

you did very well and the most important is to give its best during the workout : we all have a different body, a different cardio and all, so we cannot really “compete” one with another ; it is rather like one more source of motivation ^^ but do not focus of the results of the others, the important, like said Zuzana and Freddy, is to force yourself to do the more reps during the workout. And with the time (because we cannot have Zuzana’s body in one week :D), you will find the workout “easier” and above all you will need the everyday ^^
    Good continuation :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=516411708 Sasha Haidei

I really love the post, and the words that have been said by you guys!
And wow do I see progress and amazing body transformation thanks to you and this wonderful community you have created =)

  • Cindy

I completed 70 Dedicated Burpee in 11 minutes. After this tough exercise, I ran on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I feel so great now. Thanks!

  • Anonymous

    my score= 69 reps!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Natalia-Trofimova/704588888 Natalia Trofimova

finally i pushed myself to do this! i’d been concerned about the push-ups but it was actually the jump knee tuck that kicked my *ss, lol! i did 53 burpee in 10 min but then did 17 more to make it nice 70 reps for the day :) probably should not have done 20 min skipping before this one though, haha! let’s see about the thighs tomorrow ;)

  • KIMBERLAKE93

WOW…..what a tough one.  Burpees have always been extremely hard for me.  I had to take MANY water breaks!  LOL.  My score for this one is 45.  My minimum goal was 42 but I was hoping to reach 50 before my timer went off.

Thanks guys!!  Lots of stress for me lately……thank you for letting us take our minds somewhere completely new and different every day.  What you do is so moving and motivational.  Thanks for everything.  :)

  • Anonymous

I first did this a couple of days ago and managed 46.  Tried again today and got 50.  At least I’m going in the right direction!

  • Annalise

40 for me.  On the plus side, that would be the first time in my life I have done 40 full push ups at once …

  • Melissa

Tried to do 5 a minute…only got 45. I will get it next time!!!

I did this workout today.  I thought it was going to be more upper body workout…maybe this means I should try to do the real push-up instead of on my knees…but I was able to do 50 of them.  I was able to jump back and forth into the plank position but because of my knees being sore I didn’t try the ninja jump but instead just jumped straight up in the air.  I follow this with 500 skips too.  I’m still struggling with going fast on the speed rope but it’s still a killer cardio workout for me going at the moderate pace…I’m very happy with my progress so far!

34 only. Very hot outside and inside, plus “aunt Irma” is bothering me A LOT today, so I was happy I was able to walk. I felt horrible all day, but something pushed me to do this today, to get me back on train again after my Pig week. 34 is not great, but it is still a number :) Burpees went fine, but those low jumps killed me :D

due to a lack of equipment and space I couldn’t do todays “give me everything workout”, so I decided to do this challenge instead. I did it with all the beginners modifications and managed to do 56 reps.
As a warmup i went on the treadmill for 10 minutes and after the burpees challenge I did another 10 minutes on the treadmill. when I was finished my head looked like a tomato. I rested for about 20 minutes, then took a nice long shower and when I got out of the shower my face was still very red and I was still sweating… ;)
I’ll take this as a sign that I pushed myself hard enough :)

    52!

after first 3 of them I was pretty confident that I could keep the same pace. But after the 5th one – I had to stop and shake my legs… After the 10th one – I started to worry about the total number, because I felt like I cannot do one  more… After the 13th one I had to stop every two reps and really shake my legs or just stay with my hands on my knees…

the second breath came after the 24th one )))

though my score is pretty far from the your ones, I am still proud of myself.

will surely return to this workout when I’m short in time. Thank you!

OK finally did this one today, did it after hard bodies getting harder, and a 5 – 10 min break!
burpees absolutely kill me!  I set my timer for 2 one minute intervals by 5 rounds so it beeps every minute.  then it doesn’t seem so long, you can write your reps every minute, and you don’t have o cont so high! lol  I managed 38 reps! and then did one burpee for erin!
