Papaya Avocado Salad

Hey Zuzi & Freddy, hiii Bodyrockers!!

my name is Doris (Team AUSTRIA) and I have this delicious recipe to share with you guys. I came across this amazing composition a couple of weeks ago at a restaurant and I loved it, so I just had to try to recreate it at home.

All you need is

- Quinoa (cooked)

- Avocado

- Papaya (we went out to buy a gigantic papaya for 10 Euros/kg… but it was worth it ;) )

- low fat cottage cheese

- honey to sweeten (I mixed it with the cooked quinoa)

- fresh mint

It is such a refreshing, exotic salad, really easy to prepare and simply perfect for summertime!! I made it for my boyfriend the other night and he loved it. This salad surely is a real treat but at the same time it is loaded with healthy unsaturated fatty acids, antioxidants and lots of protein!

Keep on rocking,

- DORIS

Guess I`ll have to be on the lookout for papaya!!!! This looks and sounds exceptionally delicious, Doris!!! And I have yet to try quinoa as a sweet dish…

    looks good :)

Sounds so good! I have all the ingredients (minus quinoa) and will substitute the cream cheese with full fat greek yogurt instead :D

It’s like a cereal… like rice, but better for you, because loaded with protein and other great stuff. :) And it is also gluten free.

Looks so delicious!!!  And I love all of the ingredients, can’t wait to try it!!!  I’ll be making a trip to the market tomorrow!  Thanks for sharing Doris!!! :)

I think mangos would also go good with this :)

@Philinda Roy: You can use mangos, starfruits, kiwis, or really, any fruit you like. It doesnt have to be avocados. I dont like avocados either! :)

    Hi Atardecer_sm,

Zuzana has used it in recipes before and posted an article here: http://www.bodyrock.tv/2009/09/03/quinoa-the-super-food/

The kiwi sounds good and a nice colour contrast. Mango?

I think so too and the frozen chunks thaw nicely if you’re feeling lazy (like me lol)

I eat papaya almost every day (it’s my favorite fruit), but I have never eaten the seeds.  How do you eat them?  Fresh, dried, alone, or in something?

I eat them fresh. You eat them together with the fruit and take one part of it for making spicy salat dips with avocado, tomato…a.s.o.
You can also use them as an peeling shower pack. Great for  detoxication and for lose fat because of the enzyme “Papain”.
If your papaya is more green than yellow/orange outside you can find more Papain in the fruitmeet, otherwise more in the seeds ;)

p.s. and never buy a total green one, it can´t afterripe anymore.

  • Jenn

Thank you, I’ll try eating the seeds with my next papaya. :)

I just made this and it was DELICIOUS. This was the first time I’ve ever had quinoa and it was good! I used kiwi and mango instead of papaya and avocado.

Do you just mix them all together? Is there a  certain recipe?
