We are continuing our Burpees Everywhere Tour, but before we hit the road to our next destination, we wanted to take some time and share a place that is really special to me. My cottage is the place where I spent most of my childhood and teenage years, and although I seldom get the chance to spend time there, it remains one of my favourite places. Looking back, it’s hard to believe that Freddy and I lived there for a while when we got married. We visited our cottage right after we left Prague and spent 1 night there and it was a lot of fun. We sat outside in the night, drank tea, and played cards – that’s what you do in a place with no internet I hope you will enjoy our video and photos. Take a guess where we are heading next
Zuzana & Freddy
This is what a typical Czech village looks like. This one is very special to me. Do you have any idea how many times I walked, or drove on this road since I was a little baby?
Most streets in this village and neighbourhoods look just like this one.
I have a theory that I would like to share – you realize that you are getting old once you start taking photos of flowers.
Aren’t these just beautiful? 10 years ago I wouldn’t even notice them and taking a picture of them would seem like a complete waste of time and energy. Strange how we change. I asked our neighbour once if she has been always enjoying working on her garden (it’s always so beautiful) and she told me that when I turn 50 I will enjoy gardening just as much as she does – can’t wait
Here is Freddy with his iphone taking pictures of flowers as well (at least we are getting old together). Iphone photography is his new passion and I have to admit that I love the photos that he’s taking.
He has all kinds of different films and lenses for his iphone that he has been experimenting with.
This is our neighbours cottage. It never seems like we have this much privacy
This is the bench in front of our cottage. I love that bench – it’s at least 30 years old. I sit on that bench every summer with coffee in the morning enjoying the sun rise and with a glass of (milk, wine, beer, tea, limonade, soup) in the night watching the stars.
Freddy took this picture and made me really happy with it, because it’s a detail that reminds me of the place that I love and brings back memories.
We went for a walk to our favourite ”hospoda” (typical Czech restaurant) and I took this picture as we were crossing the bridge. This view has always been one of the things that I would look forward to when visiting.
Freddy strikes again with his iphone camera on the other side of the bridge. This is what the river looks like in my mind – more magical and mysterious than for anyone else who does not have the same attachment to this place.
After driving through Austria for a few hours the Alps started to loom up on us. It reminded both of us of the approaches to the Rockies when we drove across Canada last year. Driving through moutains always provides spectacular views.
Freddy snapped this picture of me on one of our gas stops.
We reached the alps just as the sun started to set. At some point after dark we crossed into Italy. We drove on into the night and finally stopped just after midnight when we were too tired to continue.
It’s been great sharing our Burpee’s Everywhere Tour with you guys, but don’t forget to keep up with your training You can go back into the old routines and make sure to push yourself to your max effort. If you want to keep up with Freddy & I while we are on the road you can “like” our facebook page here.
