Zuzka’s Breakfast – Cinnamon Toast & Sweet Yogurt bowl

Hi BodyRockers,

I am back with another recipe, and this time I made a video and pictures for you guys! I have to tell you that Im very excited that we are going to focus on diet and nutrition for the next few months. Diet its such an important part of our BodyRocking Lifestyle and cause you’re already following our workouts, it’s time to start with the right nutrition so that you get the best results.

Watch the video below to see how I prepare my healthy breakfast that supports my training and makes me happy at the same time :)

Best,

Zuzka.

Ingredients:

2 pieces of whole wheat bread, 2 whole eggs, 1/2 tsp of coconut oil, cinnamon, pinch of salt, organic raw honey.

Crack the eggs.

Make sure that there is no shell that might hurt you – I am always looking for shells because my mom made me paranoid about this when I was a kid.

Pour the eggs into a deep dish and sprinkle the top with the cinnamon. Whisk it well.

Soak the toasted whole wheat bread in the eggs from both sides.

Take half teaspoon of the coconut oil…

…and heat it up in a non stick frying pan.

Place the soaked toast in the pan and cook it from both sides until the eggs turn golden. Just to let you know – it’s a fast process so make sure that your toast is not burning.

I like to spread a little bit of organic raw honey over the top of the toast which I forgot to mention in the video. It’s a personal choice tho – I like it ;)

Toasts are ready. I would eat two pieces of my cinnamon toast or one piece and the sweet yogurt bowl.

Sweet Yogurt Bowl

3 heaping table spoons of plain yogurt, 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract, half a cup of frozen berries (heat them up in a skillet), and 1 tbsp of crushed pecans.

  • Markdani

Yummy Zuzka!!!!  Gonna eat this yogurt tomorrow morning after my workout!  Thankyou for posting your healthy recipes to supplement our journey.  xoxo

A breath of fresh “fitness” air. I echo others in saying I’ve missed your cheerful voice and encouragement!Zuska, you energize me to stop the holiday snacking and eat to compliment my daily Bodyrocking. Thank you for coming back!

You’re kidding right? She looks incredible, and she always does. I’m just glad to see that she is looking so much happier. I was worried for her for a little while – life can get tough sometimes.

  • Anonymous

Zuza! So good to see you, and wonderful to hear you sounding so happy and positive.

I love the french toast recipe – I sometimes have it, but a savoury version with no cinnamon and lots of pepper on top! But your yougurt bowl – thats what I always have for breakfast, though I have a passionfruit and nuts on top instead of berries.

  • Tanya

I eat the fruit and yogurt on my French toast.  {:0)  Also good is banans, pecans, and some maple flavoring!

  • Anonymous

I partake in the yogurt & berries, but there’s still a part of me that’s very afraid of dense carbohydrates & starches like bread, pasta, rice, etc. I know that whole grain is full of fibre and all that, but it’s still such an efficient form of energy that I’m scared the excess will go straight to my @$$. How to un-brainwash myself, hm….

  • Cilia Frascone1

Seriously???  And  if she hasn’t..so what!…we all have our ups and downs and sometimes things happen that deter us from being where we want to be and what we want to do. ….point is we get back on track…no need to point it out…

  • Anitaagatha

noting positive to say have you??

  • tee

Yay!  Zuzana made a video!  how exciting!  thank you!  I saw this and sean’s new workout and had to come here first, to get my Zuzana fix!  lol    You look so gorgeous right now Zuzka!  The recipes look good and I don’t even like to cook!  but I do like french toast but have never thought to make it without the milk.  This might be my weekend cheat! (as I do better without grains, so I might have a little on a small cheat day or meal)

  • http://delightfultastebuds.com Jos

So glad to see you in the video and hearing your voice again, Zuzka :)

  • ZoeRocker

Honestly, I think it is the qualityof the lens being used.

  • Anonymous

It won’t go to fat unless you eat too much calories. Eating too much protein is not good too – it can damage liver and kidneys (in th long term) ( It’s recommended to eat 0.8-1.8g of protein per kg a day, unless you are on a very low-calorie diet, and in my opinion it’s not much.
But it’s better to add carbs step by step if you were on low-carb diet before.

Yummie so good. We call these bread with egg…wentelteefjes…in dutch. Very tasty breakfast. Only I’m a oatmeal addict. Lol. I’ve missed you. Hope everything is fine. CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY, so glad your back!!!  Now my Bodyrocking day is complete : )

It’s so nice to see you Zuzka!!! Can’t believe how much I missed seeing you! :) I love having my bread like that (here in my country it is called “prženice”). :)
It’s great to see you smiling and that you’re happy. Can’t wait to see you again, it’s great that the recipe came with the video. :)

I think it’s because of the quality of the video, she didn’t use that fancy lighting that Freddy’s using while shooting videos.. :)

  • Ricky 29

So happy to see you again zuzka! I want more :-D
recipe videos are fine. maybe you could do a new fashion haul or a new warm up/cool down video.
We just want to see you, hear you talking and laughing!

    Hi Zuzka,

I’m glad you have taken on this task.  Diet is so important and for some it’s the hardest part of getting to their desired body.  I’m sure your new recipes will be just as tasty as the last few I’ve made.  I’m crossing my fingers and it’s nice to hear you laugh.

    Take care and be well,
    –Chris

  • GoustiFruit

Hmm, looks like an improved version of our “Pain perdu” :-p

  • tee

Zuzka I have a tip about eggs I just heard from Chef Duff from Ace of Cakes on the food network.  he said that when cracking eggs into a bowl its best if you see some shell go in to fish it out right away if you can (because of possible samonella on shell) but if you can’t get it to let the eggs sit for a few moments and the shells will sink to the bottom and stick to the bowl and you can just pour the eggs out and the shells will stay stuck to your bowl.  some cool info!  too bad I crack my eggs right into my frying pan so I don’t have to wash another dish! ha ha!

  • Jessy

3 tbsp of yogurt? I wouldn’t call that yogurt bowl, lol, that’s very little!

  • ramona1981

I ran across my home with my mac book pro to show my fiance that you were BACK with a video. Honest to God, you made my day :-) Really good to see you and hope to see more of you!! You look awesome as always!x

  • Lvette #1

And we wonder why she needs a break from making videos.

  • Kirry_kaatje

Ah, I’m so happy to follow your dietplan and I’m intensely grateful that you know your thing around food and don’t shy away from fat or sugar. You are truely my inspiraition, so never ever ever go away! <3

  • Joubert12

Try putting your eggs in a blender with half of a banana; along with the vanilla and cinamon: your french toast will taste amazing if you love banana bread (which usually has way more fat and sugar) Kids love it!

  • http://ladneslowa.wordpress.com/ Dorota T.

Zuziii, I’m so happy cause of Your video. :) I was missing U and it makes me feel happier today, thanks. :) Your recipies are great…so shame that some ingridients are too expensive for me (I’d studend and I don’t earn money;) …and usually don’t want as my dad to buy me sth what is not nescessery in his opinion ;)). …but! Always I can look for some substitutes, yea :) Finaly, I’m studying dietetics! :)

    Take care and smile! :)
Can’t wait to see you soon. :)

Yay! Zuzka’s back! I missed you girl! I’m from the other comments it seems like i’m not the only one.
This looks like an awesome breakfast for Sunday when i usually feel like eating a bit more in the morning. Thanks for posting recipes, I agree they do help, as sometimes i don’t even know what to make for dinner and end up choosing the classic and easy, pasta. I like cooking, but need some help with my creativity, so thanks.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Sofia.B.LopezBilbao Sofia

I agree with Leverlock, a little goes a long way with the Greek yogurt. Plus the eggs in that French toast, I could probably make it until lunch with this breakfast

  • nycbodyrockerg

We missed you so much. I was worried that you weren’t going to come back. The healthy breakfast looks real and I will veganize it for me. So glad to see you.

I really feel that diet is highly individualized. Bread, pasta and grains definitely put weight on me. I know there are some people who can eat it regularly, but I don’t think it’s for everyone. It’s all a matter of experimentation.

  • mag

mmmmiaaam! looks delicious!, thank you Zuzana for this video, I really miis you, but I think that it is a great option that you will focus on diet and nutrition!!!

  • Anonymous

Thanks, Crose! I don’t now that I would ever fully exclude any one food item from my diet, but I’d like to get to the point where dairy/complex carbs play a verrrry minimal part.

People say moderation like it’s easy. I think moderating sweets is easy, I don’t really want them.
But moderate cheese/milk? Bread? I have trouble doing that. So I’d rather not put myself in the situation where I have to make the decision of when to stop. (I’m North American, god damn it!)

Also, humans don’t NEED dairy/complex carbs. We’ve functioned farrr longer and better before the agricultural evolution of luxury sustenance (not to mention disease that comes along with it). At least, that’s how I understand it.

  • mdk

I too eat a slice of cinnamon toast (sprouted ezekiel-raisin cinnamon from the freezer), some plain goat yogurt with fresh/frozen berries and some raw almonds on the side for breakfast every day.  I don’t do my toast like french toast (which looked sooo good btw) but sometimes I’ll put crunchy peanut butter on the sprouted ezekiel bread (as a sub for the almonds).  It is all very tasty and very filling!!!  Who’s your friend behind the camera?  It would be fun to see you with your friends cooking/baking… more (if they were wanting/willing of course).  It was so nice to see you again!  Hope you’re still lovin’ LA!

Wow Zuzana, that looks yummy :-).
Can I ask you 2 questions:
1- Why do you always use Coconut oil? Is it because it is meant to be less fatty than olive oil?
2- Even if it is coconut oil, wouldn’t that egg toast be fried in the pan?
It is only in your recipes that I learnt about the coconut oil, what benefits and nutrition does it has?

  • Lori

I’m not normally a fan of french toast, but I gave it another try after seeing this recipe. I had it this morning and I will definitely have it again. Delicious!

Really excited to see more about diet/food options from you Zuz – all the reading I’ve been doing lately says I need to focus even more on my diet and less on my exercise plan (if it’s solid – which is clearly is, thanks to you!)

  • Lulu

My 2 cents, take it or leave it :)

Bread is not a whole food.  It’s processed from grain that has been cultivated.  The whole concept of ‘food groups” is silly, it’s made up.  There is calcium in green vegetables, we don’t need dairy.  There is fiber in vegetables and fruit, we don’t need processed grains. We are such a product of modern society and nutritional guidelines, think about it, truly.  I agree one needs “carbs” for fuel, especially if working out, but fruit and vegetables are carbs, you don’t need processed grains for fuel. Granted, they are delicious, of course, but they are not necessary and can also be detrimental weight wise (at least in my case).

  • Korie

This was delicious and I felt full all morning long.

I just ate both of these, except with banana instead of berries, and they were absolutely delish!!!!!

  • Gogo

Hi Zuzka!  This looked so good, but I have an egg allergy so I made it without egg and it was still delish!  Love the raw coconut/raw honey combination.

  • Courtney

Maybe it’s just me, but I laughed when you said “the second part of this breakfast” because it sounded just like when you say “the second part of this workout”. Same inflection and everything.

  • tee

    Cali is Freddy’s dog

  • tee

ha ha I like it too!  and yes you did rant!  ha ha

If I eat grains, I crave more grains, and sugar!  It’s that simple, I can’t moderate it because it becomes all I can think about, when can I get my next “fix”

  • tee

Can you tell me how to make pumpkin puree pancakes?  I suppose they really taste pumpkinny (I don’t think that’s a real word!)  I’m not a big fan of pumpkin but am looking to find something easy to make that might be kind of like bread, or pancakes.

Thank you so much for putting this together to inspire us to think of the fuel we input and how proper care in preparation adds to the spiritual value of what we consume and consequently to our overall spiritual tone. Mmmm! I just ate this breakfast and it was delicious! I’m stuffed! I have replaced the berries by cranberries, because they were on sale. From 3 euro to 89 eurocents per 500 grams. O.o People clearly don’t know what to do with cranberries, hehe. My win, their lose!

  • Minna

    Hi Arielle,

i have had the same problem before and what really helped me was to focus on a proper breakfast and lunch. On those meals i eat fruit, veggies and protein, but also muesli, whole grain pasta or bread. Make sure you get enough fiber from your diet.
This approach affected the cravings i had at night really nicely :) On other meals i eat only veggies, fruit and proteins.

Also an important thing is that you eat 5 times / day. Keep the time between your meals in 4 hours max.

If the cravings are really strong i turn to carrots and dip :) nice to munch when watching a movie for example.

I hope this helps even a little bit!

    Love, Minna

I made this for dinner last night and it was delicious with the banana. I didn’t need additional sweetener because my bananas had ripened to the point that it was sweet enough. Thanks for the suggestion!

I made this french toast for breakfast this morning.  I heated my berries and put it on my toast.  Yum.  I’m out of yogurt until I go to town on Monday otherwise I would have put that on my toast as well.

  • Jeeplover01

I made it this morning for my boys (both of which hate it when i make new recipes) They sighed and rolled their little eyes at me and said ” Awww moooooom…it’s gonna be gross” But I made it anyways and guess what, both of them LOVED it, it was gone in about 5 minutes flat! Apparently I am to make this every morning for them , lol. Thanks sooooo much , I did try a bite of it before the 1000 rep WK , it was really really good too. Thank you Zuzka! You rock!

Does it mean 2 slices of bread with Sweet Yogurt Bowl (doubled woman portion as before) or not?

Iskreno, kome god sam pricala o tome kako vezbam i sta radim, svi su me bledo gledali.
