Watch the video below to get started :)

Fit Test:

Set your interval timer to 50/10 and complete as many as the following exercises in the time as you can. We will be using our interval timers in every single workout of this 30 day challenge and it is basically the only must have item for BodyRocking. Our timers let us know when to switch exercises and the “beeps” keep us all pushing harder then a regular clock ever could. Ask any seasoned BodyRocker and they will tell you that working out with our timers takes it to a whole different level.

Squat Jump

Push Ups

Burpees

High Knees

Switch Lunges

Tuck Jumps

Straight Abs

Your next workout will be posted on the site everyday to follow along with advice on diet & supplements to support your training. We will be posting pictures of some of our meals on our Facebook pages to give you guys a running idea about what we are eating a long with other tips and little pep talks so please “like” BodyRock.Tv on Facebook here to keep up with the diet portion of the 30 day challenge!

Enjoy your workout!!!

  • lucykemp21

Could you just plank instead for as long as possible? I hear they are less troublesome than crunches/ sit ups. (please check around before taking my advice though, I’d hate to cause you to hurt yourself!)

  • lucykemp21

I am doing this challenge after doing BodyRock workouts a long time ago and then stopping. I don’t know why I stopped as I remember getting to my best weight and fitness level whilst doing these workouts :/ Anyway, I just did the fit test and am ashamed I didn’t do so well. I have been running and weightlifting recently but not seeing the results I’m after so here’s hoping this will help me again!!
    Scores:
Squat jumps 27, Push ups 11, Burpees 10, High knees 119 (counted each step as it’s easier to keep count!), Switch lunges 23, Tuck jumps 22, straight abs 21.
I’m keeping a record of everything in the hopes I will see improvement after the 30 days! I will also be running, eating a lot better (and less) and 30-60 minutes walking a day too. I have an office job where I sit for practically the whole day so I need to put in some serious effort from now on!

  • Nurhayati Razak

    hello Lisa!
I have been following Bodyrock for years but keep on delaying my fitness workout. i only do cradio on treadmills and cross trainers. used to do weights and others years ago when i hired a trainer, but that stop the second i was pregnant.. and never got back on physical exercise due to my low confident level of having a c-section delivery. scared it would hurt the area.

but today i’ve made up my mind, and give it a go at your 30 day challenge January.

high knees: 100 (50 each leg)

    thanks!! xxx

I am new to Body Rock. I am starting today because I was intimidated by the crazy fit body rock trainers! I will definitely have to modify some of the exercises at first but I am so ready to do this! I am a mom who thought I was okay since I walk and do some weights but once I turned 37 I started gaining weight even though I hadn’t really changed anything, I have been super disciplined for the last 6 weeks and gained a pound! I am so desperate to lose these 20 pounds that I have gained over he last year! So here goes ;-)

  • Mandysueilvu

I have been doing Julian Michaels workout and actually got bored and was able to do everything with no soreness the next day. I love the idea that there are other woman out there doing the same workout to help keep me motivated.

Although I am doing this waaay past the time that these videos were made… It’s never harmful to start something different. I’m working my way towards being a personal trainer, I’ve never really been extremely overweight, but I’ve also never reached any of my goal weights/fitness goals. I love fitness and for the most part in someway I’ve always stayed in shape… But never done routines like the ones on BodyRock TV… Similar, but not within such a short amount of time or anything..

So I’ve done the fitness test, definitely felt it and was a bit out of breath. I am planning on taking pictures of myself everyday, not sure yet if I will show them… But in the least, I will have them for my own reference. Here are my results…

    Squat Jumps – 15
    Push Ups – 14
    Burpees – 6
    High Knees – 95
Switch Lunges – 10 (Each leg)
    Tuck Jumps – 18
    Straight Abs – 25

My results are definitely not great, but it’s a start. While I study material, and have a community that have common ideals, morals, and goals… I think that this will be a useful tool to me, and I know that a lot of other people are in the same boat… Whether it’s losing weight, toning and firming up that body, or trying to challenge yourself physically…. These are all things that are in alignment with me.

Hiya everyone! I just started this 30 day challenge, since I’m in the worst shape I’ve ever been. I have a 15 month old little girl, and finding the time to do the exercises is quite difficult.
I’m 6ft tall and weigh 213 pounds. My ultimate goal is to shrink from a size 18 to a size 14, but that’s a long way to go.

    Here are my scores:

    Squat Jumps : 37
    Push ups : 20
    Burpees : 6 (killed me!)
    High Knees : 60
    Switch Lunges : 20
Tuck Jumps : 8 (killed me aswell haha)
    Straight abs : 30

Btw, anyone any tips on clean eating? And is it better to stick with 3 meals a day, or 5 little ones? I scrapped all the fatty foods, sweets etc from my kitchen. And stocked it with fresh veg, fruits, wholegrains, chicken and fish.

Well, did this along with my 23 month old in the way lmao.
    All in 50 sec..
23 squat jumps, 30 push ups (regular), 12 burpess, 38 tuck jumps, 112 high knees, 68 switch lunges, and 40 abs. Usually thing I do is 100 straight jumping jacks, 100-200 sit ups, 80 push ups, run stairs 100 times (I cut the stairs and push ups in to sets of 20, sit ups 100 at time) this along with hous house chores and some of your exercises work! I have an issues of excessive workouts that last throught out day then rest on 3rd. I got out of it for reasons (kids wont stay out of way!) But gonna to keep going and adin yours on the days I can’t work out that long.

Thanks so much for the routines on here. Made me feel like I could do it again!

i did the exsercises last night… wow I thought I was going to faint but i continued and finished them…. i posted my scores in the facebook website… I am excited to have started doing this… I am 41 years old, i am a cancer survivor, but because of the cancer i had to have a complete girly operation… ( they took all my female reproductive system) so that totally slowed down my metabolizim I refused to take synthetic hormones after reading all the side effects, back then I was 130 lbs…this is 17 years ago… I have had 3 kids and gained 40 lbs, i have tried everything from pills to starving myself and still have not lost any weight :( i am hopeing that this will help me, I am determined to go back down to 130 pounds…

just found this website, very behind everyone else. but i am pretty dedicated to looking great this summer. i let myself go for too long! and i know i am not “fat” or anything of that sort, but i would LOVE to be fit. about two months ago i was 153. i am 5’5″, and i am currently weighing in at about 140-142. i simply did this by watching what i eat, not eating candy (a huuuuuge favorite of mine, especially chocolate) and not eating after 9. also, i have been doing  a little exercise, like dancing in my room for an hour or so, you know, just little things. anyways. here are my results from the fit test.

    squat jumps -31
    pushups (girl style) -38
    burpees – 17
    high knees – 96
    switch lunges – 29
tuck jumps (the hardest, in my opinion) – 27
    straight abs – 21
i will continue to watch these videos, we will see where i am in a month! :)

    Hi guys,

I’m a bodyrocker for more than 3 years now. But this is my first workout since 5 month. I’ve lost a lot of muscles while I’ve been taken a lot of fat. Now I want all those muscles back and all that fat away.
I know it’s going be difficult but I am very motivated and I have a super diet.
I plan to loose 25 lb of fat and gain 10-15 of muscles (for July I hope…).
Here are my scores this first day of 30 days challenge :
    Squat jump : 33
    Push up : 15
    Burpees : 8
    High knees : 102
    Switch lunge : 21
    Tuck jump : 17
    Straight abs : 32
    Happy bodyrocking!!

I did it twice through, with a few pauses here and there for sips of water. I often get faint and just have to catch my breath so I don’t pass out. The first time it happened I thought it might be low blood sugar but its pretty consistant whenever I do vigorous exercise. Is this common?
I’m always ok if I just stop for a sec.

  • Yesstfan12

Hello everyone! I have been comging to this site for almost a year now. Never did the workouts till now. Let me tell you, it kicked my butt. I used to be a soccer player and just a few months ago i was in top shape. I let all that go when i started having some family issues and in just these short 5 months i feel like i have lost my athletic ability. As im writing this my chest is hurting pretty bad. but i know in the end i will be proud of my accomplishment. hope everyone can keep me motivated in keeping this up.

    Here are my scores:

Whew! Didn’t expect that work out in 7 minutes! Kept looking at the timer thinking it was broken (50 seconds takes forever). Scores were:

Squat Jumps: 27, Pushups 21, High Knees 44 (set), Switch Lunges 16 (set), Tuck Jumps 16, Straight Abs 27 (modified).

Any recommendations on how to not lead the straight abs with your neck? I can’t get up straight yet and kept wanting to lead with my neck. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Here’s to hoping to see 10lbs difference in 30 days!

Did test 3 days ago, but started Monday-Friday program today – STILL SORE after fit test!
I’m a former landscaper and have always been slim and active, so thought I had a good base of muscle/endurance –  SURPRISE! 42 yrs and a desk job is really showing in my scores. Looking at others similar numbers is sparking my competitive side – I want to try Harder! Do better! Be stronger!  (and Remember to warm-up first and stretch afterwards)squat Jumps – 25pushups (press ups, as Lisa says) girl style – 14burpees  - 8 (my FIRST BURPEES!)high knees – 55switch lunges no jumping – 16tuck jumps – 8straight abs – 20

Just started today.  Decided to start on a Saturday so i get Thursday and Friday off.  I’m so busy i know i would never get time to do it at all.  School from 8 – 3:30 and then work till 10 right after that.  Yeah right, im dead tired by the end of the day.  But anyway here’s what my fit test looks like, not to bad but i feel it should be better for how active (or how active i think i am) during the day.

    Squat Jumps: 28
    Push ups: 32
    Burpees: 9
    High Knees: 100
    Switch Lunges: 19
    Tuck Jumps: 12
    Strait Abs: 22

I’m 5’4 around 150 lbs.  I recently lost about 30 without exercise, but I reached a plateau so i needed a good workout regimen.  Looks like this is the one.  Thanks!

I have been watching BRTV, on and off, for years now.  And I am FINALLY over the excuses and whining on my part that has kept me from taking part.  So as of yesterday, I have started this challenge.  My scores are lower than what I thought they would be- but then I realized that we all have to start somewhere, and this just means I have a HUGE opportunity to get better and better.  I was not able to do any of the Burpees or the Tuck Jumps though.  Not because I wouldn’t try, but they were too noisy in my apartment :)   I must get out my mats to jump on!!

    My scores:

    Squat Jump- 17
    Push Up (girl)- 17
    Burpee- 0
High Knees (counted a left AND a right as 1)- 20
Switch Lunges (counted a left AND a right as 1)- 14
    Tuck Jumps- 0
    Straight Abs- 19

I just stumbled across BRT yesterday and did the fitness test today. I have been doing Crossfit for 2 years and just recently stopped temporarily. So to see BRT, something I can easily do at home on my own is awesome!  You guys are an inspiration, love to see the toned and muscular bodies.
    Fitness test:
    33 squats
    35 push-ups (on my knees)
    12 Burpees
    103 high knees
    23 step lunges
    26 tuck jumps

I’m so excited about this! Thank you!

Hey Everyone! This afternoon marks the first day of my 30 day challenge!  Growing up I was always thin and never worried about my body but now that I’ve graduated college I’m noticing the problem areas of my body.  My thighs and booty could use some work!  I’m very excited to see my progress in 30 days!

    DAY 1: Squat Jumps – 40, Push Ups – 27, Burpees – 15, High Knees – 110, Switch Lunges – 56, Tuck Jumps – 17, Straight Abs – 15.

just found this site two days ago, love it!!
After an acl reconstruct in 2005 and having two boys via c-sections in 2007 and 2010 – i find myself in physical shape that I’d never imagined … sad :( 40 lbs overweight and WEAK (of course, I used to powerlift and compete in strongwoman – so probably not as weak as I think… just comparing myself to what I used to be able to do)i jog (outside in the summer) and do yoga (5 times/week)Squat jumps – 30modified push ups – 30burpees – 20high knees – 115 (running up to 100, then stepping – fatigued hip flexors)switch lunges – 38 (worst exercise since knee surgery)tuck jumps – 23straight abs – 23 (SO weak – can barely feel them flex)oh well, my birthday is march 4th – time to get back to my healthy lifestyle and be a good example for my boys!!!! <3i'm lucky enough to be a stay at home mom right now – so time isn't the issue – motivation is!!!

  • Alphalove08

Im excited to begin this challenge, i dont need to really lose weight,i need tone and loss of some inches. I used to be a hardcore athlete from the age of 4-18 and ever since i quit sports and went to college ive been lazy. So ive felt crappy and want to get back in shape. This fit test kicked my butt quite a but.

My thighs are KILLING! after this workout lol. The back to back exercises makes it harder b/c my body is tired from the last exercises in the workout. I took a little longer than 10 sec between intervals.

    Fit Test Results:
    Squat Jump: 50
    Push-Ups [Regular] : 32
    Burpees: 15
High Knees: 59 [This is counting 2 legs as 1 rep]
    Switch Lunges: 33
    Straight Abs: 18

I’m 5’3,and weigh 200 pounds. I’m also active duty in the military and love it, but with the way they’re downsizing the manning, I’ll be kicked out in a hurry if I don’t do something about my weight.

The bathing suit I’m wearing is an XL and I’m tired of being so large and out of shape. After years of good intentions and “I’m going to get in shape!” but now following through (I used a my yoga mat for the first time since I bought in in 2010), I really want to stick with this and make/keep the healthy changes in my lifestyle.

    Squat jump: 33
Push up (knees): 21Burpees: 11 (DYING!!!)

Ok BodyRock I was working out about a year ago, I was in great shape (so many people were hating on me during the summer) then I had some personal issues and stopped working out. Now I am so out of shape and cant wait to get my energy back. My test is pitiful but we all have to start somewhere.

    Squat Jump: 19
    Push Up (girl style): 18
    Burpees: 13
    High Knees: 47
    Lunge Jumps: 12
    Tuck Jumps: 10
    SitUps: 0

Honestly, I was so tired that I couldnt even do any situps.  I had already done a workout before I attempted this test, you’d think it would have make it easier. In my defense I do have three children youngest 19 months so my abs will need lots of work. I will be posting everyday to update my achievements and see how others are doing.

Hey bodyrockers :) I’m glad I’m joining you in this great challenge!!! This is my first day of “moving” after a very long time…. ;/ I’ve been very lazy and not motivated! But now I know I need to get into better shape since my wedding is in 6 months!!! I just did the TEST but before that I ran 3miles!!!

I have loved watching BRT for over a year now but have only recently made a decision to be more committed to my own fitness and health.  Though I’m not overweight, I feel extremely unfit and jiggly in places XP.  Doing this fit test let me see just how unfit I am.  My poor throat was aching from trying to breathe in so hard!  My body was screaming for more oxygen, lol!

I have a 5-year-old daughter who likes to mimic what exercises I do, a 5-year-old dog who enjoys getting down in my face while I’m doing pushups, and two cats (one who’s too old to move, and the other one is a kitten who thinks fitness time is play time).

Although I’m starting this fit challenge “late,” I’m still in the game!  My rest days will likely be Tuesdays and Thursdays because those are my extremely busy days (full time student).

Anyways… I hope you all stay in it and keep working at a healthier you!  This website is such a wonderful community of people busting butt to get in shape ;D.

Keep working at it!  And post your updates from time to time for additional support!

Ok, I am a little late, but I’m starting it today.  I used to follow Bodyrock, and I had forgotten how much I truly miss it!!!  I’ve recently injured the tendon over my right knee cap; nothing serious, but I am being gentle.  It will heal quickly.

Lisa-Marie yelled at me in day two to post my scores, so here they are. :D I’m fairly new to BodyRocking, even though I discovered this site a while ago. :/ But I have no endurance whatsoever, so here are my little, soon-to-be-improved-upon scores from yesterday:

    Squat Jump – 19
Push Ups – 22 (my stupid elbow tendon was snapping around, so I did knee ones)
    Burpees – 9
    High Knees – 84
    Switch Lunges – 10
Tuck Jumps – 12 (amazed I did more than 4!)
    Straight Abs – 21 (modified again :p)

Whew, I’ve been away for a while, since having to change my diet so much.  I discovered that I had developed a wheat sensitivity, and wheat was my primary food.  I had to totally cut it out of my diet, and the sudden change was difficult to adjust to.  For weeks I was barely eating as I figured out new menus for myself.  I continued martial arts, horseback riding, and running…but with hardly any food I didn’t have enough energy to do the workouts.

So, now I’m starting again!  This time I shouldn’t be out sick every other week!

    My scores for the test:
    Squat Jump: 24

Push Ups: 12 (wide-grip, from toes)

    Burpees: 11

High Knees: 155 (I was afraid my dinner was going to make a reappearance during these)

    Switch Lunges: 20

    Tuck Jumps: 17

    Straight Abs: 16

believe it or not esme, it’s just the 7 minutes today, then tomorrow you move onto the next workout, I think it is 12 minutes, and then to the next day etc.  you should do a warm up and cool down and stretch as well.

You could work around it, do the exercises with the one foot off the ground, no jumping! substitute another exercise for one you can’t do.  just do what you can!

yay Janine!  keep on rocking!  I tell my kids that I’m about to workout and if they are staying in the room then they are working out with me or they can go to the other room!  they haven’t stayed yet!  chickens!

awesome job danyel!  modifications are just fine!  if you are as you say “extremely overweight” taking it easy on the jumps are a good thing to protect your knee joints!  always remember form over speed!  welcome to bodyrock!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/VGQKSBJX24YLR3YYWWTHLMDAZY Jennifer

I’ve been following BR for a couple of years now, but only used the workouts sporadically. I really want to commit to making a lifestyle change, and to have that BodyRocker mentality and determination every day. I think this challenge will be the perfect start to a new and improved me! I can’t find my measuring tape… but I’m 5’5.5″ and 170.2 lbs as of this morning. My goal is more about fitness than weight, but I do think I’d be pretty lean and mean at 135-140. I’ve always been a little pudger, so I don’t know how much the “in shape” me should weigh… But I’m sure I’ll know it when I see it! Here are my numbers for today:

    Squat Jump 30
Pushups 15 (stayed off my knees but form needs work!)
    1/2 Burpees 8.5
Jump Lunges 18 (Only did a couple before these turned into step lunges)
    Tuck Jumps 14
    Situps 29

I can’t wait to see these numbers climb! Thanks to the BodyRock team for getting me inspired, motivated, excited, and (most importantly) off the couch!

I was checking this site for a while, did some exercises from time to time but after i noticed i gained way to much weight over new year i just had to come back and check for new exercises and this 30 days workout sounded just right to start being more active …

So i manage to do :
    Squad jump-32
    Push ups-11 ( girl version)
(Can someone tell me what i`m doing wrong here xD My elbow always makes such weird noises and creeps me out cuz it also hurts and im afraid it might fall out or smt since i already kicked my knee out of its place once…)
    Burpers-12(without jumping between)
High knees-86 ( the people below me were very happy about me jumping XD)
    Switch Lunges-34
    Tuck Lunges-14
    Straight abs- 25

I only hope i wont give it all up cuz i`m so angry on myself gaining so much kg in the last months ><
I`m really thankful for this site its awesome, the people are awesome and the videos are really helpful i would be really happy if i could reach my goal in the next few months and lose 15 kg XD
And i wish everybody who is working on this too lots of luck ^^

All looks frightening to me, I want to try it out but where do I start? Can the programme still be worked on from the start at this stage? Are all of the workouts for each day missed available?

    • Anonymous

this is your day one!  go for it! all workouts are always still here!  they don’t take them down.  do the best you can do, using whatever modifications you need.  best place to ask questions though is on the most current days workout!  welcome Feekb!

Like many of you I’ve been stalking this website for a while. I even tried a few workouts last year. I have been in horrible shape lately though and I finally decided it was time to try it again . I LOVE this new 30 day thing and although i’m starting late I WILL get through it. Btw, I think Lisa- Marie is a phenomenal host! Keep up the good everyone.

    Squat jump 15

    Burpees 10
High Knees 106 ( but do you count one for each knee or 1 as a set?)
    Switch legs 17

    Hi everyone
I just stumbled upon this site last night. I love the idea of short intense workouts using a timer !
I found one online timer to use (http://www.speedbagforum.com/timer.html) in case you don’t want to purchase one.
I’m excited to see how I do with the 30day challenge.

Fit test results (I was a bit surprised, I thought I’d do better, but hopefully next time I’ll notice that much more of an improvement)

    Squat jumps- 20
    Push ups (lady version)- 17
    Burpees- 10
    Knee highs- 83
Switch lunges (without the jump) – 20
    Tuck jumps- 18
    Straight abs- 22

I’m a bit curious if its a problem to combine the 30day challenge with other exercise activities- I play volleyball once a week and also go snowboarding once or twice a week. (Any tips, hints or suggestions about this?)

Hi yboog! Impressive scores! wish your comments came through quicker! always glad to see them!

  • BodyRocker_Bonnie

On the first fit test I still only managed 11 of the burpees, even without the push up part. It is the jumping part that whips me…so don’t worry, 30 stuns me too :)

HI, I’m a little late to start the 30 day challenge but I only heard about you for the first time last Friday (By a friend). Was doing the TAM  for 1 hour a day and found it hard to manage with 2 year old twins. I have started today with the 7 exercises for evaluation. I’m very excited about this!

So here is my score for today,

    Squat Jumps -28
Push ups (the tough ones) -13
    Burpees-12
High knees -128 (or does 1 count for 2 knee touches then divide by 2)
    Switch lunges -27
    Tuck jumps -27
    straight abs -27

    May the body rocking begin!

Started this on Jan 11, but couldn’t get logged in on Disqus through FB (still can’t) so I slacked about creating an actual Disqus profile until now.

Anyway, psyched to be back to bodyrocking after a four month slack off after my wedding and a 3 1/2 month return to smoking! :P Quit that nastiness on the first of Jan, that’s why I waited a bit to start this challenge, wanted my lungs to recover a bit. Anyway, here’s ma scores!

    Jump Squat 36

Push Ups (started on toes, ended on knees) 29

Burpees 9 (Man I miss my core strength! Won’t be long til it’s back and better!)

    High Knees 113

    Jump Lunge 23

    Tuck Jumps 20

    Straight Abs 28

Oh and btw got ma DIPSTATION for Christmas, so excited! Way better than broom hitting me in face after falling off chairbacks. :D

I’m gonna start with this challenge in March, because I’m going on vacation 7th of february for 16 days and won’t have any internet so can’t follow the workouts then, know it’s a bad excuse…

But I tried the Fit Test today, just for fun, was kinda hard, not for the muscles, but the breathing, I’m not in that good shape when it comes to running and that kind of stuff.

    Anyhow, my scores today was:Squat Jumps – 30Push ups (on toes) – 14Burpee – 9Knee High – 118Switch lunges – 26Tuck jumps – 17Staright Abs – 14

I know I’m a few weeks late, but i finally decided that trying to do something on my own wasn’t working and wanted a plan of what to do everyday. I’m looking to loose some jiggle and gain a nice toned body. Spring Break is coming up too and I’m tired of looking flabby every year! I want this year to be different. I also what to get a routine started that will last longer than spring break. I have done random exercises here and there throughout the year but never stuck to doing it everyday. So I decided this is the year that I’m going to have a body I love! I love how inspirational BodyRock is!!! Thank you BODYROCK

All of you guys are an inspiration and I wish you all much success and Rockin’ Bodies!!!

So I am 2 weeks late on starting but that is better than never! I had quit bodyrocking, my hip had started hurting and I couldn’t do all the jumping. So for about 4 months or so I have been doing mainly just weight training and no cardio. I just finished the fit test and my lungs are burning! Well, it’s good to be back but I know I am stronger than my scores, but the problem is my lack of cardio! I was too busy trying to catch my breath! Here are my scores-

    Squat Jump- 27

    Push ups- 14

    Burpees- 13

    High Knees- 107

    switch Lunges- 16

    Tuck Jumps- 9

    Straight Abs- 15

Today was my Day 1 of the Fitness Challenge.  After 18 years of competitive gymnastics, I quit working out cold turkey.  I didn’t really have to workout to keep the weight off because I coached gymnastics 50 hours a week.  But now I sit behind a desk all day and the arthritis is starting to set in (which is not good as I am only 24).  I need to my tone and flexibility back to keep my body from aching like it has been.  So here we go…

Squat Jump = 28Push Ups (ladies style) = 16Burpees = 22High Knees = 104 (maybe me taking up tennis is helping with my footwork?)Switch Lunges = 26Tuck Jumps = 20Straight Abs = 14 (this was the disappointment of the workout)

  • Jhessail

Okay I’m a little behind. I missed the beginning of the year. I just did my fit test.

    Squat Jumps 31
    Push ups  11
    Burpees    10 (I hate these)
    High knees (each) 77
    Switch Lunges   10
    Straight Abs 36

Bodyrock has been on my subscription list on YouTube for a long time now and it really is time I stepped up and did something about my weight. I am currently 170lbs and I hide it very well, even at 5’2″. I am relatively active, I’m a bellydancer and would like to greatly improve my abilities in that area in the next year and that starts with slimming down while keeping up with the dance training. I am hoping to combine Bodyrock and Dance to help with that. My current goal is as much as possible by April 11th, which is my troupes next big show, somewhere between 140-150lb. And hopefully the rest between then and the end of June. I at least need to be able to dance 5 hours a day and not be exhausted by then.

My biggest issue that I know I will deal with is food. Specifically cost of good quality, good tasting food. Plus I live alone and it is very easy to not want what is in the fridge because you have had to eat leftovers for the last three days, no matter how tasty.

And now to read the rest of the posts.

  • Gina

That was fun! I have also been watching BRT for a bit now but decided to try the 30 day challenge today. I am a fairly active person but would love to be more toned. Thanks for the fitness inspiration!

  • kmorris246

Hello all!  I have been super interested in starting the workouts on this site, but I’m so confused about where to start.  For those of you who do these on a daily basis, do you do any additional cardio and/or strength training/weights?  I consider myself pretty in shape and I’ve done hiit in the past, but I’ve always combined it with other exercise.  Any advice/feedback would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks :-)

That is the site I used! Forgot to mention it when posting my results.

  • Sim

I have just discovered this site and I am a week behind but I’m going to give it a go.  I am training for my first marathon and I do yoga anyway so I hope this will help me get leaner to make yoga postures easier and the running better!  I love the recipes part too, I will try the power balls, look yummy!  Thanks in advance for all the time you put into this; it’s great to do something for people just out of passion!  One question:  I commute to work 4 hours a day and would love a recipe for breakfast that I can throw together at the beginning of the week maybe and then take with me on the train.  I don’t have time in the mornings to spend time cooking, unfortunately :(  Cold cinnamon toast?

Anyway, here are my fit test results:

    Squat jumps: 32
    Push-up (easier one):17
    Burpees (I hate these!): 8
    Knee highs: 80
    Switch lunges (slow): 16
Tuck jumps (very difficult, weak core?): 10
    Crunches (easier one): 26

    Let your body rock!

Push ups (on knees) – 30

    High Knees – 118

I just finished the Day 1 Fitness Test.  Now that I’ve finally caught my breath, here are my results:

    Squat Jump – 16
Push Ups (girl style) – 7
    Burpees – 5
    High Knees – 64
Switch Lunges (no jump) – 14
    Tuck Jumps – 5
Straight Abs (hands extended) – 12

This fitness test was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.  My first inclination after watching the “how-to” video was to not even try it.  But, over the past 5 years I’ve allowed myself to go from being in the best shape of my life to being in nearly the worst shape of my life.  I’ve decided that this is the year I’m going to finally conquer this problem once and for all.  I recently signed up to do a 10k run at the end of March so I am hoping that by following this program, I can lose enough weight and get strong enough to finish in a reasonable time.  I’ll keep you posted!

  • Deniseaz26

Found you on Pinterest yesterday…watched a few videos and got inspired to get going!!  I don’t have ANY equipment but I’ll “redneck” my way through it!! LOL!!!!  I have been trying to lose weight for about a year and a half.  I’ve been doing that through WW.  While I enjoy the plan and have lost 42 lbs…I still need to lose a lot of fat!!!  I took a picture of myself this afternoon and am looking forward to taking another one at the end of this challenge to see how my body has really changed.  I’m also going to take my measurements!!  Anyway, here’s how I did:

    Squat jump: 24
    push up (girl style): 19
    burpees: 11
    high knees: 88
    split lunges: 23
    tuck jumps: 17

Ok I did it! Last week I officially got caught still using my family card at the YMCA 3 years after I was supposed to be kicked off the family plan. And so after searching for an inexpensive good gym near my house I gave up and decided to go back to bodyrocking. The reason I originally stopped about 6 months ago (and meanwhile lost a few lbs of muscle but luckily didn’t gain any fatty weight) was because I have bad knees. I still have a problem with my left knee when I bend it in indian style sitting for example, and it hurts incredibly as though there is something swollen inside. Haven’t seen a doctor as it really only impairs my daily life if I bodyrock (I think its the high knees, and jumping lunges). Anyways, I really want to tone up since I’m going to Hawaii in August and I’m going to do this 30 day thing, and if I haven’t hurt my knees by the end of it I will keep doing bodyrocking. :)

    My scores to improve upon:

    burpees – 12
    high knees – 114

    Hi sumofallmoments!

I don’t know if I’m the best person to ask about diet, because losing wieght is extremely hard for me, but this is where I am at at the moment! It seems to be working as I am slowly taking off the pounds. I have lots more energy now, and feel great and don’t crave so much!
    breakfast – pre workout
ricotta cheese low sodium with cocoa powder.(tastes like dessert to me – could use cottage cheese but I don’t like it!)
    workout
2 or 3 eggs with mushrooms, peppers, etc (a bunch of veggies in there) cooked in a tsp of coconut oil
    snack
protein powder, cocoa powder, avocado, coconut milk, omega oils, flavoured instant coffee blended into a smoothie, sometimes unsalted cashews or mixed unsalted nuts if I’m extra hungry(at work)
    dinner (at work)
some sort of meat, green beans or mixed veggies, raw veggies (depending what the meat is it might have tomato based sauce, salsa, balsamic vinegar, spices, and maybe a little cheese with it) and selzer with a splash of some sort of unsweetened juice for flavour
Home -snack this is where I lose it. hang head – usually about 15 – 20 doritos oops! every once in a while I eat some more cashews instead.

  • AmBoaksy

O my…so I know that this is a bit late in coming, but I did the fit test today before doing Day 3′s workouts (I’ve been away from the internet for the past few days so couldn’t keep up w the posts).  So…after doing 20 mins of interval training on the ellipticals and treadmill, I got the following Fit Test Scores:

Looking forward to the 30 day challenge.
This month is 1 year since I started bodyrock! Since Jan 2011 I’ve done 4-6 workouts per week, often with another yoga or weightlifting WO on the “off” days. The “earn your carbs” mantra has really worked for me: I can tell I’ve lost inches and I think about 7lbs (was already working out regularly, but BR upped my intensity).

    Scores today:
    squat jump 30
    push ups (from knees) 18
    burpees 12
high knees 53 (I counted each time my R foot hits the floor)
    switch lunges 24
    tuck jumps 15
    straight abs 13

  • Maya

    Hi bodyrokcers!

  • BodyRocker_Bonnie

Hi Maryam! They will become easier in time, you can do them. Trust me, I used to not be able to do any and now I do 100 a day, for FUN. Just keep doing them as modified on your knees, and throw in a regular one every time you start off. You will get stronger and stronger every time. Don’t give up :)

    Squat jumps-40
    push ups-30
    burpees-20
    high knees-170
    Jump lunges-56 (about died)

High knees: 86(only did 42 seconds)
    Switch lunges(mixed methods): 34
    tuck jumps: 14
    straight abs: 15

I’m back after a too long break from BR(too much Holidrama).  Can’t wait to dust off the sandbag and hopefully my Ugi ball.

I had to break after the high knees and catch my breath. Also, I started the raw foods diet…and I REALLY need to eat more before starting these workouts. I lost all power.

I was planning to do this as a 14 min workout but my dip station arrived today and i simply HAD to put it together. I am 2 days behind on the schedule but I have had a nasty flu for the last 10 days or so so I didn’t even get to finish the Christmas workouts!!! What a bummer!!!I have to run to work now but I plan on doing the second workout when I get home tonight:)

    1. Squat Jumps- 43
    2. Push ups- 20 (I’m trying to only do them with my elbows tucked in. It’s harder)
    3. Burpees- 18
    4. High Knees- 145
    5. Jump Lunges- 24
    6. Tuck Jumps- 23
    7. Sit-Ups- 20

I definitely feel slower from being sick. I’m psyched to see how I do in 30 days. Santa brought me a sandbag AND a dip station for Christmas. I got my timer and skipping rope last year so I’m set!!! You guys rock!!

  • Christie

Been out of my groove for a while, I need to prioritize my time better so I can have my workouts on a regular schedule!  Anyways first time for me to post my scores, because I do not keep scores for my workouts, I am my own worst enemy and I don’t want other scores to make me feel bad, so I push myself as hard as I can, and I know that’s all I can do. So the numbers don’t matter to me if I know that I gave it all I can.

    Squat jumps: 31
    Push ups : 20
    Burpees: 14
    High knees: 132
    Switch lunges: 25 (OUCH)
    Tuck jumps: 20 (major OUCH)
    Straight abs: 16

I came to this a bit late because I am doing a Christmas/New Year’s cleansing fast which I am currently on Day 7.  I have been keeping the exercise pretty light because of this, but I felt good today so I gave it a shot.  Tested it first with a 5 mile hill run as cruise tempo.
    squat jumps: 43
    push ups (regular style): 35
    burpees: 18
    hi knees: 150
switch lunges:35 (started to come unglued here)

Did this yesterday before the Day 2 Workout–OUCH.  I know this is a “test” but it’s freaking hard!  Anyway, I was quite pleased with my scores, but I can’t wait for them to get better!

    squat jump: 43
    push ups: 30
    burpees: 15
    high knees: 145
    jump lunges: 39
    tuck jumps: 39
    straight abs: 31

A note here–my boyfriend and I pressed pause on the timer to run outside to do the tuck jumps, then again to run back inside.  Otherwise it was too rushed, running up and downstairs.

I’ll post my scores for Day 2 Chalenge on that post.  Happy Day, BodyRockers!

  • Samanthina

Hi,guys i did this today, here are my scores:
    Squat jump-35
    Push ups-55
    Burpees-15

    Tuck jumps-23
    Straight ABS-25
+ a healing burpee for Erin and her family
Thank you very much, guys, you are so inspiring! :)

  • Hege Vindstad

Okay… Did this one yesterday after being at the gym -already exhausted in my arms and legs, so I was a bit “afraid” of doing this test actually :-P

But it needed to be done, and afterwards, when I was ready for my cool-down and stretching, I just felt so energized and had to give the jump tucks another try, and found myself improving it at once; so I gave the test a second try!

    So, here are my scores:
    Squat Jump: 34/35
    Push Ups: 24/18
    Burpees: 13/14
    High Knees: 136/127
    Switch Lunges: 24/26
    Tuck Jumps: 27/30
Straight Abs: 16/17 (Did it up to my knees, and speed was a problem here)

Really great energy-booster workout this one!
    Thank you guys

  • Lubalee

I hope the 30 day challenge can be put in its own category so that anybody can start it at any point during the year.  I work in weight loss center and so many people don’t know where to start their exercise routine.  When I tell my patients that it takes me is about 4-5 minutes of intense workouts a day (plus power walking 30-80 min almost every day + clean diet) they cannot believe it.  I have been mentioning bodyrock.tv to some, but b/c of the 30 day challenge that not only discriminates but encourages beginners (with ability of 0 reps), I will put it on my regular hand-out tips as a great source for inspiration.

  • Pstania

Hi to all bodyrocker and happy  new year to you all.
My score I did it after other (one hour)xercise so the score is not the best
    1)23

    7)18
    Can wait for tomorrow workout.
Thank you for your effort to make as more healthy.I have thinking to go and try fitness trainer course but I think I am to old for it only 35.
    Have nice day
PS: any news fron Erin thank you one burpee for you.

  • BodyRocker_Bonnie

Missed working out yesterday, following a rest day…two days off messed with my head a bit!  I was glad to do this and get back in the groove.  I’d like to do it later in the day and see if 6am has anything to do with my scores… :)

    Squat Jump – 30
    Push Ups – 25
    Burpees – 11
    High Knees – 90
    Switch Lunges – 30
    Tuck Jumps – 14
    Straight Abs – 23

    100 PushUp (sets of 20)
    Sumos
    Toe Taps
    Reverse on D.S.
    8lb dumbell row to shoulders
    Plank Jax

    Abs Extra on Dip Station
    20 knee raises
    20 leg lifts
    20 ab splits

By the way, I have to say I’ve noticed a lot of women are using the term “girl” push ups for doing modified ones on your knees. One male even used the term “men” to refer to regular push ups… We can all do regular pushups, you may have to modify to get there but you can do it.  Let’s use the word modified or on knees.  Gender has nothing to do with it, just doing what works for your ability level.  “Girl” pushup is an old term, I know, but it sounds weak, and if you are here bodyrocking you are far from it!

  • http://twitter.com/GabayC Gabija D.C.

    Yeah!
I also have some device thingy that monitors the heart rate, but I never use it haha

I’m really sorry for what happened to you. But this is the best time to start, everything has been made ready for us. Take the fit test, write down your scores, follow the workouts every day…. that’s how you begin and how you keep going. This site is wonderful and it can’t get any simpler as everything has been basically served to us on a silver plate (and for free) :) ) You’ll see that you will feel amazing after you finish your daily workout :)
And as for motivation, I know that it can be hard sometimes, but you have to become your own motivation, you are doing it for yourself, and as harsh as it may sound, you cannot rely on anybody else. You can do this! :)

I’ll try answering your Qs as far as I know the As:

eating clean is one thing, but are you eating enough? I think Im do. maybe not enough b/f my WO.what are your normal day to day activities and what/how much exactly do you eat? I’ve now started posting everything I eat on my FB page (I got anouther name there). you need enough calories to fuel your body in relation to your activity-level as well as eating the right things. -I hope I knew how much I should eat b/f & after my WOs. generally I wake up VERRRRY hungry… :{ altho I do eating a PWO -meal but maybe it’s not enough? maybe I still don’t getting enough carbs after it ?  Do you sleep enough hours? yes.Is your health OK? yes. Is there no medical reason for your tiredness?  no.

  • ۞ BodyRocker ♥ Beth ۞

I really like chammomile tea ! but haven’t found it yet. would try today at the health food store. what else would you suggest me buying? generally Im not at my home frm the 7am to 7pm… :) so I really need to find myself some time-savers !

  • ۞ BodyRocker ♥ Beth ۞

I heard about it, some of my friends R also took a part in it. but I think that Im still too young !

  • ۞ BodyRocker ♥ Beth ۞

I’ll try find those, many thanks for your suggestions !!!

hey beth, both lisa & sean are posting their food journals on teir facebook pages, have you checked them out?

      • ۞ BodyRocker ♥ Beth ۞

I just couldn’t understand / figure ‘em out ! :( for example… why NO fats where included in most of the meals but only for lunch ?!?! & it was WAY too much fat !!! (Im talking about 1/2 avocado & 2 yolks !!!) I just can’t understand it :( & I only got more confused… I wish Lisa would answer my Qs…

        • Anonymous

are you asking questions on her facebook? as I see they answer some there, or at least sean does. jess also answers questions too. wow if you think that is a lot of fat my diet would terrify you! I put a whole avocado, some omega oils and coconut milk in my protein shake! probably 40% of my diet is fat and I’m still loosing weight!

          • ۞ BodyRocker ♥ Beth ۞

            I simply don’t like any type of high-fat or (too) high-protein diets…

            • Anonymous

I didn’t like the idea of them either but it is the only thing to help stop me from eating carbs! I love carbs, the more I eat the more I crave, the more I eat, the more I constantly think about food! hungry all the time! carbs don’t like me! now if I eat fats, mostly good fats, and protein with almost every meal, as much veg as I can, just a touch of dairy, and quite rarely fruit, I can go a long time without eating, hardly think about food, and don’t even get all that hungry. I feel great, so much energy, I feel more like I’m in my 20′s than when I was in my 20′s! ha ha!

hope you find your answers soon!

              • ۞ BodyRocker ♥ Beth ۞

I think I understand/know what feeling your’e talking about… but it’s just not for me. I need carbs. of course if I eat too much of them I’ll feel worsen after. simple as that. but I’ll feel WAAAY more confident eating complex carbs at least w/ my 2-3 first meals of the day.

hey beth! lisa marie now has 4 days food plans up now. looks like kind of what you might want to eat, maybe? she eats oatmeal, rice, whole wheat toast, pita, fruit, fish, chicken, yogurt, sweet potatoes, only a couple eggs, and a little protein powder! You said there was no fat? but I thought there was some in almost every meal, for example that day you mentioned had yogurt in the breakfast, mackeral would have had fat as it’s a fish, of course the avocado and the egg yolks, tuna would of had some as well, almonds in her post workout snack, and salmon has lots of good fat. maybe you could try it for a couple of days, I’m sure you could change it slightly, like only one yolk, or only two eggs, or whatever fish you like and change the rice with quinoa or something. and by the way all those fats are good fats, healthy omega 3′s and monounsaturated. its too many saturated that you got to watch for and stay away from the trans fats! You could also check out diets from girls who bodybuild, or do figure competitions

First of all, & I would say nothing else, is that U can’t even GUESS how much I appreciate all of your suggestions & support, dear freinds !!! your’e unbliveable.

The only thing that bothers me is that she’s using the whey protein powder A LOT which doens’t really fits in my diet b/c it always causes me TONS of gas & bloating, & uncomfortable overall feeling.
my parents simply CAN’T afford whey isolate like vita source. 2$ per serving ? U kiddin’ me… they should show us some substitious to it for those who haven’t got it/got allregy to dairy/products/whey proteins.

I would carefully look upon my diet & compare it to Lisa’s, & try to make some slight changes to see how it influence my overall feeling. I’ve also noticed she always including eggs for lunch & carbs for BF, lunch, 4pm’s snack & dinner (4 portions in the overall day), etc…

Also, what about PORTIONS? she didn’t said anything HOW MUCH of each portion she had (that’s ESPECIALLY important for the carbs…)

            thanks !

            • Anonymous

hey beth, I found a organic hemp protein powder in my local heath food store, no whey. it was $20 for 400g. I never use as much as the label says to make them last longer. I don’t know if you can get anything like that where you live. but also can you buy those containers of egg whites (liquid) here they cost about $3 and you get a lot of servings in them, or some places have egg white powder, also I think gelatin has a high protein content(not jello but the real deal) and I would guess probably a 1/2 cup serving of carbs.

  • GoustiFruit

That’s it. Then you have 10s to catch your breath, write your score and get ready for the next exercise !

  • Crush

For the high knees do you count each time your hand hits a knee or do you take the total and divid it by two?  Meaning it’s left righ, 1…left, right, 2 and so on or is it 1,2, 3?  Hope my question makes sense :)

    • Marta

Each time a hand hits one knee is one rep left -1, right-2, left-3, right-4, left- 5…… and it continues until the time is over… Hope I helped
      P.S. sorry about my english

    • Anonymous

usually count everytime a foot hits the floor, I find it easier to count every right foot then multiply it by two when I’m finished but since you’re comparing to yourself as long as you count the same way each time, you’ll see the improvement.

  • Anonymous

Thanks, I tried it today. I think I can commit to 7 min workouts a day, as long as I’m not too sore afterwards. My body responds very fast to exercise, so I hope to be able to see the almost six pack I had in my early 20′s…

  • Anonymous

Just tried the Fit Test…was hard, and comparing my scores harder than for other bodyrockers.
Looking forward to be able to push it harder after 30 day challenge!!!

I am really excited to do this.  I have a diet question though – I was looking at Lisa’s daily food intake and she eats a lot more grains than I do – like a lot.  I eat plenty, but it’s mostly protein, fruits and veg, nuts, legumes, meat, yogurt, etc.  And yet, she’s so lean!  What are people’s feelings on grains?  BTW, I’m a girl, despite the name.

    Here are my scores:

    squat jumps: 38
    pushups (regular): 29
    burpees: 13
high knees: 153 (each knee counts as one)
jump lunges: 23 (each landing counts as one)
    tuck jumps: 11
    situps: 11 (kind of died)

I really wish I could do this! I’m going to Hawaii in a few months with my dance team, and I really want to thin out and feel really confident while I’m there, and this is the perfect opportunity. There’s a problem though- I’m a 15 year old competative soccer player and pre-professional dancer, and I’m dealing with a career threatening injury. These exercises, I don’t know. I’m worried they’re going to annoy my knee and make it worse, but I feel like if I modify the exercise (take out jumps and do steps instead) then I don’t get the same result. Have any of you guys suffered from knee problems? If so, how did you modify the workouts and still feel like you worked just as hard as the regular workout?

  • Anonymous

How do you deal with annoying family members? Everytime I exercise they come into my room and ask me “what are you doing?” “what’s the annoying beeping sound” etc…It’s really annoying and it really distracts me…

  • Kathy

Looks like my scores may not be as good as others, but I think I did well considering I just recently got over the flu.

    Squat Jump – 25
    Push Ups – 10

I’m embarassed to be utterly SHATTERED after this, i’m by no means overweight but my conditioning and muscles are weaker than a babys fart :/ here goes though, i’m happy i tried! Had to be careful about my bad back but meh, less excuses more exercising ! The High Knees and Tuck Jumps I had to stop half way through as the pounding in my ears was threatening to make me faint, so unfit !

    Squat Jumps: 14
Girly pushups (couldn’t get all the way down else my shoulders would give in): 12
Burpees (had to step out into half of them as I found it really hard to jump my feet backwards for some reason): 8
    High Knees: 16
    Switch Lunges: 15
    Tuck Jumps: 7
    Straight Abs: 19

I could do this routine daily and be utterly wrecked afterward :D should be easy to see improvements from this at least !

  • Laurenl

    Fit test scores:
    Squat Jump- 35
Push Ups- 18 (8 regular, 10 modified on knees) still the hardest exercise for me after two BR years!
    Burpees- 14
    High Knees- 117
    Switch Lunges- 19
    Tuck Jumps- 14
    Straight Abs- 16

Very interested in seeing scores 30 days from now!

Also noticed that some people had like 70 switch lunges in their scores- I could be totally wrong and these people could be incredible athletes and have the world’s strongest legs lol but if not, just be careful of form, like Lisa-Marie said both legs should be at 90 degrees.  Just making sure people are not risking injury, etc.  NOT trying to pick on anyone or discourage!  :)

  • http://kenjibankhead.posterous.com/ ashtromanius

Yes jumping is quite safe while pregnant especially and only if you have been doing it all along. She is full term anyway so if she were to go into labor while body rocking… Who cares?! :)

    • http://twitter.com/IronFistGirl Tara Fox

Hi all, yes its safe as long as you listen to your body, and as you can see I did variations to support my extra 9.5kg weight. I have fairly strong legs and love jump squats of course i dont land heavy on my feet and try to keep a smooth motion. Bodyrock has helped me throughout my pregnancy and I feel great, better than ever infact.  Dont know what Id have done without it.

  • Amandafit

Whoo! Sore from the last week of pushing it. My Fit test scores are below. I better beat them in 30 days!!!!!

    16- Burpees
    110- High Knees

My asthma was bothering me, so the breathing was the worst part!! No excuses though!!!!

You can’t go wrong with Bodyrock, and you’ve taken a great first step! I always find myself checking back with the video to see if I’m doing the exercises right, so don’t feel like you can’t get it. You’ll learn fast. Don’t stop now that you’ve started. Starting any kind of exercise routine is the hardest part in my mind. Issac Newton said an object at rest stays at rest, but he didn’t know Bodyrock! We like to fight inertia and be in motion! Don’t give up! You’re going to be great!

      Gees, you’re old girl! :-)

I’m only half your age plus…28…of course all that changes on the 15th as I will be 56 (born in 1956).

      –Chris

  • http://www.janetspreiter.com Janet

You go!  I agree, it is hard to ignore the age factor, but I figure the best way to do it is to try to hang with the young and enthusiastic.  I am 54…never too old to find a way to improve in some way…even if it is only in mental discipline!

This is a great way to start the New Year!!!!! Thanks guys.

  • http://www.janetspreiter.com Janet

yes, although we all like to compare our scores to everyone else, it is really only about each of us putting out 101% to do the best we can each day!

  • Ramonapetto

    Your scores are amazing.

  • http://twitter.com/misathemeb The Delicate Place

Oh my gosh, I’ve been bodyrocking for a while but still whenever there is a word “challenge” or “test” anywhere, I feel immediately nervous and intimidated, even though I know that my only opponent is just myself. Well at least it’s a good psychological training for silly me, lol :)
    Anyway, here are my scores:
    Squat Jump: 35
    Push ups: 23 (proper form)
    Burpees: 16
    High knees: 152
    Switch lunges: 26
    Tuck Jumps: 26
    Straight Abs: 22

Great sweat, I’m gonna finish myself of with I’m Crazy But You Like It challenge. Have a good day everyone!

  • http://www.facebook.com/GetFitWithMarci FitMarci

I did legs in the gym yesterday and my hammies and buns are SORE, but I gave this a shot anyway. I felt extra weak on push-ups for some reason though, maybe bc I haven’t eaten in 4 hours? I don’t usually go that long without eating. Anyway, here are my scores:

Push-ups: 18 (chest to floor on toes)
    Burpees: 17.5
    High Knees: 149

Finally managed to sign up…..Been bodyrocking on a very regular basis since Feb. 2011!

    Will do this test tonight!

I’m back to a strictly healthy diet from today onwards, which includes no drinking at all. I always do some kind of reset at the beginning of the year, since I tend to get a bit slackish towards the end of the year…

Keep up the good work everyone!

great scores, gerri lee!  50 jump tucks afetr 50 jump lunges?  AMAZING!  i felt like my feet were nailed to the floor and i didn’t get anywhere close to you!

      chris

      • Gerri Lee Schafer

it’s all the technique for the jump knee tucks….you have to just go for it…as sson as your feet touch the ground, jump a gain…no pause…bang.bang.bang….I think I did 30 without stopping, then did the rest in sets of 5 cause I was pooped…the jump lunges I’ve really noticed that I’m getting better over the past 3 months or so…used to hate them and really suck at it

  • Felicia

Ended up doing three rounds of this, resting about 1 min between each round. Beat all my reps (except for pushups) and it was a pretty awesome circuit

    1. Squat Jump: 46, 47, 50
    2. Push ups (on toes): 43. 38, 41
    3. Burpee: 18, 20, 20
    4. High Knees: 138, 138, 142
    5. Jump Lunge: 60, 61, 62
    6. Tuck Jump: 40, 43, 61 (!)
    7. Straight Abs: 26, 30, 34

    • http://www.janetspreiter.com Janet

    • Felicia

wow thanks guys!! janet just for you, i’ll do 4 rounds :)

  • GoustiFruit

I finished 30 minutes ago and my lungs are still burning !

    Squat Jumps: 43
    Push Ups: 49
    Burpees: 16
    High Knees: 138
    Jump Lunges: 35
    Tuck Jumps: 25
    Straight Abs: 30

The sequence of Burpees+High Knees+Jump Lunges+Tuck Jumps is a deadly one. I tried to “recover” during High Knees, but the then Jump Lunges finished me.

    • Vivi

Agree with you !! For me this is the jump tuck which killed me !!!

It would have been easier to put the abs somewhere in the middle…

    Hi there,

first of all Happy new year to you all…
As you know I had some health problem during past month, and I still don’t feel good enough, I tried to workout but it was not good…
So I will wait another few days..(if I waited so long, what is few days more, to be sure and healthy…), and then I will start..and I decided to take some pictures, in this month I lost strength an some muscle definition…so it will be like fresh new start!!
I just want to feel good to start, last week I started to workout, and I felt worse..not like muscle pain, or something like that, but in my back and my lungs…
So few more days, and I will come back..
I am with you every day…

    kisses to you all

    • MariaBjørgJepsen

Happy New Year to you as well, sweetheart! I am so glad you are getting better. And that you understand how to listen to your body!

Same here, though my scores are a bit lower in some exercises. The worst was actually the being-out-of-breath part for me :-) Congrats to you and your wobbly legs (I assume? Cause mine definitely are!)!

  • http://ofdreamsandseams.blogspot.com/ Katja

    Happy New Year everybody!
Loving this, can’t wait to see what the 30 day challenge will be like. I feel like I am in pretty good shape, so I pushed hard at this to make it hard on myself when we come back for this test in 30 days (well, I assume we will…)

SquatJump: 31 (really touching floor between each one)
    Pushups: 20 (real ones)
    Burpees: 14 (w/o push-ups, as in video…)
    HighKnees: 122
    SwitchLunge: 30
    TuckJumps: 30
    StraightAbs: 16

I guess we will always be a day behind here in Europe, but that doesn’t matter to me at all – I can compare to others scores and be motivated that way.
    THANKS!

  • MariaBjørgJepsen

    4) High Knees: 195
    5) Jump Lunges: 70
    6) Jump Tucks: 45

I gonna do this one at lunch time to the gym. So happy to have your score to motivate me (or to frighten me !!!! lol ) !! I’m really impressed by your jump tucks ‘s score ! OUCH !!

      • MariaBjørgJepsen

Thanks, sweety :) I found it easiest to do 10 jump tucks in a row – no break, and then 10 more, rest, 10 more, like you also did in the 1000 rep workout! Did you have a great New Years Eve?
        Love, Maria

        • Vivi

Yes I try without stopping but difficult today lol !

    • Vivi

For the first exercise you put your hands on the floor or not ?

    • GoustiFruit

Ahah, 70 squat jumps in 50s, totally insane :-D

Oh, and I just read your 45 jump tucks. Oh. My.

      • MariaBjørgJepsen

You are always so cute and funny, Gousti :) Thanks for your motivation, means so much to me! Did you celebrate on New Years Eve? Hahaha, I would love to try such a pair!!!!
        Love, Maria

    • http://ofdreamsandseams.blogspot.com/ Katja

Whoa! Crazy scores!!!! Do you have two lungs??? I do believe you though, maybe if I hadn’t had to stop a couple times to catch my breath, I could have managed to at least get half-way closed to your scores :-)
      Congrats, Ms. Turbo Girl!!!

      • MariaBjørgJepsen

Thanks for your sweet comment, Katja :) It made me really happy! Awesome blog you have, I am truly impressed with your great talent!!!

Weak Sauce!!!  I am soooo repeating this later this week.

Tip: Do not attempt this fit test if the day before you did workout which included 110 jump lunges.

    Squat Jump 37
    Push-ups 24 (10 full, rest knees)
    Burpees 17
    High Knees 136
    Jump Lunges (killer!!) 23
    Jump Tucks 14
    Sit Up 16

I am not pleased with my scores, but went into the workout thinking I should have taken a rest day.  I followed this with 1/2 of “Damn Sexy Body” workout (12 min instead of 24) & 4 min interval skipping.  I am so wiped out!

  • Lisa

Wow! I am wiped out! My scores today:
    Squat Jumps: 36
    Pushups (full): 14
    Burpees: 16
    High Knees: 109
    Jump Lunges: 31
    Tuck Jumps: 18
    Straight Abs: 27

Those tuck jumps were so hard after the high knees! Looking forward to this 30 day challenge!

  • Kat

    Squatjumps 34
Pushups 25 (towards the middle I finished on my knees)
    Burpees 18
    High knees 155
    Switch lunges 30
    Tuck jumps 26
    Straight abs 23

  • Anonymous

    burpees – 9
    high knees – 140
jump lunges – 24 (stepping back)
    jump tucks – 22
    straight abs – 14

when I finished I took a couple minute break, then did 3 rounds of Damn Sexy Body Workout from apr 7/10 as that was what on my schedule for today!

    plus my burpee for erin!

  • Anonymous

Super excited for the 30 day challenge!!  Woot Woot…Here are my #1 Fit Test Scores:

    Squat Jumps 45
Push ups 21 (real ones too)
    Burpies 16
    High Knees 118
    Plyo Lunges 24
    Tuck Jumps 20
    Sit ups 17

It got harder and harder as I went…the no rest made it tough but that’s what I love about BodyRock!!!

  • Anonymous

I had no motivation to push on this test for some reason, I think I was hungry + I hate fitness tests!!!  BUT gave it a go any way

    jump squats- 32
pushups-22 (hell yea, perfect form :P chest to the ground)
1/2 burpee- 13 (in the middle of these I just stop and was like f this lol, then started again)
hi knees- 102 (stopped like 3 times when motivation ran out)
jump lunges-35 (again kept stopping, so lazy today)
    jump tucks- 23 (more legs??)
    crunches- 47

also, I rly wanted improve pull ups– I can do only one full chin up at a time from standing on the ground.  I never could do more than 1 or 2.  My goal for the end of this month is 5 chinups, and 2 real pull ups!

  • http://www.facebook.com/kendra.oberhauser Kendra Lee Oberhauser

Congrats!  I don’t see any reason to be disappointed in your scores–they look pretty good to me.  No need to be embarrassed–this is a no-negative place. :)  Thanks for posting, and I hope you do more often!

I have trouble with depression also, but doing these work outs really give me energy, I think you’ll find good support here! Seeing my results gives me a boost too! When I don’t feel like working out and I force myself to go on with it I feel like I just beaten that feeling (that feeling has too many emotions to describe… sorry!) I feel happy with myself.
Good luck! You did really well on your scores!! wow

  • J.A.S

Wow, I did this right after my other workouts and Im completely whooped :P
Awesome 30 day challenge, Im deffinitely taking this on!

Is anyone else having trouble when you click on the “Facebook” link on the Body Rock page? When I click on it, it takes me to a Body Rock Facebook page but the screen says that the site may be untrusted/unsecure connection. Anyone else experience this?

    • http://twitter.com/MonicaTastic1 Monica Cavazos

I just tried a few minutes ago and it says the site can no longer be found.

    • Joseph Proctor

I can’t even get it to do that…. It tells me unexpected error has occured and loads my FB page in the new window.

I’ve been reading and watching workouts for a little while now…and I’m a little intimidated to get started.  I’m active, but not working out.  I have a bad back and am anemic, so energy is scarce at the best of times.  But, my main motivation is to feel good.  The side affect of looking amazing is the awesome perk to this, but I just want to feel good and energized again.  I have a young child, and don’t want to say “I have a sore back” anymore when he wants to play.  So, any suggestions on how to get started so I’m not killing myself and then losing the motivation to continue?

    • Rainyanna

Try doing shorter intervals, maybe 30 seconds?
Don’t worry, you can do this!!! :)

  • Anonymous

I love it, you will feel strong, refreshed, happy, motivated and completely excited by exercise !  I lost 7kgs in the first 2months when i started, im now pregnant but still very excited about Bodyrock and cant wait to be in full swing again :)

  • http://twitter.com/IronFistGirl Tara Fox

The only thing i suggest is a clearer break down of interval times, to me its obvious 7rounds of 10/50 sec intervals but ive noticed some people still get lost with this.  Otherwise good job this is going to be exciting, ive got my fiance starting this today as he wants to get fit and this site makes it possible.

    • Anonymous

Yes! My husband is starting as well. I can’t wait to do this one, I love how it’s starting out pretty easy though, I think he is feeling like it will be to hard. Thank you guys so much! This is going to be fun.

Coming off of double tendonitis in both knees—getting back on the wagon!!

I am loving the positivity here. The last few weeks and months have been downright depressing reading these comments and those on the facebook page. Yes, we are all sad about Zuzanna, but it is very hard to make a graceful exit after sharing all the intimate details of your life for 3 years. She and Freddy created this fantastic community; it has revolutionized my world, and for that I am grateful. Post your scores, share your wisdom, and pursue a positive outlook.

Thank you so much for everything all of you do! You never cease to impress!

    My Fit Test #1 Scores:

    Squat Jumps: 34
    Full Push Ups: 30
    Burpees: 7.5
Butt Kicks (replaced from HIgh Knees–those are still painful): 118
Reverse Alternating Lunges (replaced for same reason): 17
    Tuck Jumps: 10
    Straight Abs: 14

Happy New Year to everyone–let’s make it the best yet!!

  • Anonymous

    squat jumps – 47
    pushups – 34 full
knee tucks (tuck jumps) – 40
straight abs (i did full situps.. yeah?) – 30
    jumping lunges – 37
    high knees – 187
    burpees – 21

i think i could have gone harder on some of them
but i found that REALLY hard, by the end of 7 minutes

i’m doing the whole 30 challenge (paleo) until the end of this month, hoping to lean out… university has not been forgiving on my physique!
and i’m hoping it will clear some skin problems as well (eczema, blah)

and of course bodyrock will help me get into the best shape! COUNTDOWN TO BIKINI SEASON!

Alright! I spent about half of December sick and used that as an excuse to not do my workouts regularly. Motivation!
Also, I was pleasantly surprised by my numbers. Even though I’ve only been Bodyrocking occasionally this year, and even though I’m just a few days off a cold, I’m doing way better than I was this time last year. Still plenty of room for improvement, but that’s what this challenge is for!

    Squat jumps:   14
Pushups:           4 full, 4 from knee
    Burpees:           9
    High knees:     84
    Switch lunges: 15
    Tuck jumps:      8
    Straight abs:   13

I’m really proud of my pushups. It’s not so much the numbers, it’s that I actually did full pushups to failure instead of just defaulting to knee pushups or quitting after one. I got all the way down for a fifth pushup, but I just couldn’t seem to get up.

    Hey Freddy, Lisa & Sean,

This is exactly what I need. I’ve tried doing my own personal “X Day Challenges” using BodyRock workouts, but actually having a Challenge sanctioned by the site is so much more motivating! Right now, I am seeing a nutritionist and I have been working out with y’all daily in an attempt to drop some pounds (20 to be exact). I lost weight easily in the first two weeks, but now I feel my progress (and motivation) waning. This has come at a perfect time. Thanks so much!

  • Lisa

Amazing results. Do it, do it!! Welcome!

Super sore from doing 3 workouts 12/31 and 2 on 1/1, which probably affected a lot of my scores, but I’m still ok with them.

Squat Jump: 29Push ups: 15 (and none from my knees, yaya!)
    Burpees: 11
    High Knees: 113

Well I ordered your GYMBOSS timer… I think this idea is great. I try to do some of the exercise in the past but they were to advance and I though this program is for only skinny/flat tummy young girls. Now with this Video and the schedule posted early has gave me the motivation I just needed… Thank you!!! I told you earlier I am 178 and will tell you how I look at the end of the program… will post my pic on your FB wall LOL… (God Help me!)

OMG I am so excited.. I am going to do the fit test right now… Scores to come in a little while…  Thank you so much for motivating us to get into the best shape we can.  I can tell a huge difference in my riding.  Living in Wyoming, I do not get to ride very often from November to April.  I think the last time I rode was 3 or 4 weeks ago.  Well today when I went to put on my Breeches (english riding pants), they were big and I could button them.  I could not button them the last time I rode in them.. YEAH!!!.  I also have more stamina while riding and I feel stronger.  I could feel a difference in my horse too.  She was more willing to do what I asked because I had strength and confidence in my strength.

Your starting off better than me, when I started I could do maybe one burpess in 50 seconds and it was all beginner style. So good job and keep it up. And for me the eating clean part was the hardest and the most effective I lost a pant size in two weeks when i stuck to my guns and ate clean and healthy. So have fun!

    • Jaymie Doucette

I think you did very well! :) Keep it up, you’ll achieve so much.
P.S. I have that problem with my dogs too.  Whenever I am doing yoga poses my one dog thinks it is okay to lick my face…I hate that….hahaha  :)

      • Ropingdummy_jt

My lol my two black labs couldnt understand why i didnt want their exuberant love and attention when i was doing this work out either

      • Jhessail

My dog likes to lay on my mat when I do yoga. All 65 lbs of her. And I can’t leave them out or she lays on them. It wouldn’t be a problem but her version of downward dog scratches up my mats. LOL

      • http://www.janetspreiter.com Janet

Clean the fridge, throw it out!!!  Reduce temptation and hold strong!

        • ۞ BodyRocker ♥ Beth ۞

fridge is clean ! I just don’t know things like if I should be including carbs w/ every meal, & type of them, If to include fats or not… ? & how many times ? & what should I eat late at night so I can keep learning well & stay focused… for a little while ? I know that some would only go on clean lean proteins as their middle-night snack but honestly… I just don’t feel so much better eating egg whites (it started causing me FREAKING smelly gas ! like I ate something chemical, I donnow..) & veggies & I wake up SUPER hungry !!! I just can’t see myself getting to the level of where Lisa or zuzka R now standing on… It seems just impossible for me. I have many limitations on my diet (parents) & it makes me such a hard times expirementing w/ things… (edit)

I started posting my daily diet/meal plans on my FB page. my name is diff there. Im still not sure I want to share it but I’ll see !

GOTTA-GO or I’ll late’a school !!! sorry !!! would come back later to edit !!!

          • http://www.janetspreiter.com Janet

There are so many ways to do this, but I would start with
            1.  fresh foods: veggies and fruit in abundance.  2.  No canned foods.  3.  Steer totally clear of fast foods, processed foods, and stuff in tidy little boxes with long impossible to read words in the ingredients.  4.  Go light on dairy products.  5.  Avoid red meats and go light on white meats and poultry.  6.  Nuts tend to be very fatty, so watch out here.  A handful of cashews or a big glob of peanut butter will add up calories fast.  7.  Go super light on grains, and not just because it is tempting to melt a cube of butter on a thick slab of hot bread!  Keep in mind that very often you will be addicted to foods that you are allergic to.  The most common food allergens are pork, corn, coffee, milk and wheat.  So if there is a food you crave and have to have every day pay attention and see if you feel gassy, bloated, or if it just sits in your stomach like a lead ball.  This can be hard to track if you mix a lot of foods at one meal, so you may want to keep your mixes simple.Smaller meals more frequently is good, with the volume going to progressively smaller meals throughout the day.  You can try to have your last main meal in late afternoon and a light snack before bed.  Fruit is good, maybe with  hot herbal tea to help you sleep well (and not wake up in the middle of the night hungry!)

Keep in mind that change takes time.  A little change each week is just great!

i think you’re making it more complicated than it is… i am 16 and i live with my parents. i am vegetarian and it was kinda hard at first to get them to buy stuff but i just work around it. dont stress too much about what exactly you have to have before a workout or after. i workout right in the morning. after you workout try have carbs to give you energy. when i feel hungry late at night, veggies are the last thing i want to eat. i usually go for a bowl of thawed strawberries with greek yogurt and maybe some almond slivers… all i can say is just try eat clean, dont worry about pre or post wo stuff too much and dont limit any of the food groups (carbs fats and proteins). good luck!

      I will do the same!

There was an air bubble in the small of her back that made the sound as she did a sit up.  She was probably a bit sweaty so that’s why we heard that sound.  I had to back it up and listen too :)

  • Anonymous

Just follow her directions as she gives them for the beginners and go for it!  We were ALL beginners at one point, and we LOVE to see beginners joining this site.  So GO GO GO GO!!  You can do it!  Remember what she said in the video, “Give it a go.”  You may feel like dying in the beginning, but don’t let that stop you.  Just keep going and pretty soon, if you felt like dying in the first 30 seconds, the next time you do the workout, you may make it for 45 seconds before you feel like dying…then the next workout you may make it to 60 seconds before you feel it..and pretty soon, you will make it through an entire workout, and you’ll have energy to go for a jog.  Its a progressive thing, but its up to you not to give up :)

Yay! this mad me so happy and motivated! can’t wait to do it, document everything and look back. Thank you so much!

  • Anonymous

Yay! Totally excited. I did bodyrock for a long time and was incredibly happy in my own skin. Life got a little complicated at the end of last year and I put on at least ten pounds. :( I’m also weak and completely out of shape. I hate it. So ready to get back into bodyrocking and find that happy place again.

    Horrible results:

    Squat Jump – 20
    Push Ups – 16
    Burpees – 8
    High Knees – 66
    Switch Lunges – 13
    Tuck Jumps – 8
    Straight Abs – 16

happy new year, bodyrock-Team and bodyrockers :)
Omg – i am so excited!! I am with you guys.

Thank you so much for your work!!!!

Thank you for everything, what you live for us…This is perfect!

  • Cranker

At work now so I will have to do this tonight but can I just predict not alot of tuck jumps lol, I cant stand them, hopefully its one of the things I improve on in the next 30 days, in saying that before I found this site I HATED burpees, now I love them :) )

  • Anonymous

i’ll start tomorrow right after my sleep :) ) i would start now but it’s 23:12 in Germany :( ((

  • Federica

yayyyy, that is what I really needed, continuos boosts !! Also, in my opinion if you set a goal (like 30 days exercises) you’ll feel more motivated not to give up and will defeat the laziness :)
Now it’s a bit late in my country, so I’m not able to do them (also because I could )
THANK YOU LISA for giving strength !

And for what concerns Zuzi, I think we all should let her take her time. And if she has found her way, or on the contrary she needs to think how to reorganize her life, well LET’S REMEMBER HER, this is also a way to thank her.

That’s it. I don’t usually leave comments, sorry for my english. I wish you all the best for the new year… and a lot of SWEAT !!

  • Brent Rosinski

I am new to this site and excited to get started! You guys ROCK! Just one comment: It would be great to see more male workout videos from Sean for us guys.

    • Dec K

Honestly Brent , these workouts are amazing for all ….. I have found that bodyweight workouts are amazing for toning….. If it’s bulking too that you are looking to achieve well just add in some weighted workouts as usual …

    • Anonymous

      H Brent,

Unless you are looking for some workouts focusing on one part of your body these workouts are not gender specific whether preformed by a woman or a man.

These HIIT, tabata and circuit full body workouts and maybe some workouts with weights will make this be a killer year for almost anyone!

  • Azalea

I have a question for everyone, and particularly for the more experienced bodyrockers: do you guys follow other workout routines along with those posted on bodyrock.tv, ex. at the gym etc.? or is the 15/20 mins daily bodyrocking all the workout you get?

    • Anonymous

i work on my abs 3 times a week for 10 mins and i also run 3 times a week for 30 mins. in addition i bodyrock 6 times a week

    • Leah James

Some people only Bodyrock, while others combine the Bodyrock workouts with other activities. I prefer longer workouts, so I usually add something else to the Bodyrock workout. However, the Bodyrock workouts (combined with good eating habits) alone are great! Remember, the intensity of your workout is more important over the length of your workout :)

Quick answer…losing weight then I add HIIT and steady cardio as well and do a couple of the workouts in a row instead of one

If maintaining then yes I just do the workout and add some skipping after it (although I mix and match the 4 mins to be around 16-20mins…..

But with regards to muscle work nwhethe maintaining or losing then body rock does the trick nicely:)

It probably depends on each individual goal.  My goal is to be fit, and feel good, and stay fitting in my jeans :)  So this is all the workouts I do, plus a bit of jogging here and there.  I have lost SO much weight (dropped 2 pant sizes), and have gained muscle definition since I started 11 months ago.  I’m happy with my results, but if you have bigger goals than me, you can add other workouts to this.

My motivation to stay in shape is to surf, which I do whenever there are waves.  I also run the hills about three times a week, do a challenging mountain bike ride at least once a week, weight training one day a week, and a couple yoga classes besides my own stretching and random exercises here and there.  I need strength, stamina, and agility so I don’t injure myself surfing.  I have to supplement the BR exercises with more core and upper body strength for surfing.

YOU CAN DO IT! I remember when I first started. I wasn’t super toned and had about 10 more baby weight lbs to lose (I gained 70 total). After 1 1/2 years of bodyrocking I can honestly say my body is so tight and fit. I’ve been an athlete my whole life and I’ve NEVER been in this kind of shape. I’m almost 37 and in better shape than I was in my 20s! Take the bull by the horns and join us! Finding this website is like striking gold!

    • Monique

Don’t be! I’ve done the same thing & now that i’ve began to try these workouts I feel fitter & stronger. You’ll love it! Just give it a go! :D
