Glad You Came – Beginners, Intermediate, & Advanced Workouts – Day 1 Week Four or The February 30 Day Challenge

Hi BodyRockers,

You know you have reached a certain age when as a guy you get excited about finding the perfect dining room table. I’m turning 37 on March 11th and all kinds of things that would have sent me running for the exits or falling asleep from Boredom are now catching my attention and capturing my interest. To name a few things on this list: facial scrubs and toners, kitchen utensils and gadgets, home decor magazines… the one saving grace here is that I have a newfound interest in sports cars – otherwise I would be essentially turning into my mother. Am I nesting or is this early onset mid-life crisis? My musical tastes have shifted all over the map as well. Everything from Ed Sheran (highly recommended) to a lot of very loud Jay-Z. Anyone else out there start to go through some kind of weird stage in their mid to late 30′s?

Getting back to my table – I spent weeks looking for a table I would love. I went to a dozen furniture outlets, and while there were some great deals out there I didn’t compromise. I waited until I found the perfect table. I think it’s important in life to surround yourself with people and things that make you feel good. If everything and everyone that you surround yourself with makes you feel good it will reach into all aspects of your life. I feel great sitting at my table, I enjoy eating at it with my friends and family. Pay attention to what you surround yourself with. Hold out for what makes you happy and what makes you feel good. Build harmony into your life one table leg at a time :)

P.S.

Thanks to everyone who sent in their prayers and well wishes for my family over the weekend. After a few tense and scary moments it looks like everything is going to be ok. My uncle is home from the hospital, resting and doing much better. Your support is appreciated :)

Enjoy your workout!

Freddy

      Great scores! Welcome back :D

Thank you, Audra! I am so glad to be back with regular Bodyrocking and not only creeping on older posts and older workouts :) ))

oh my goodness…..I cannot believe  what I’m reading. Lisa Marie has exercised her body into a work of art and that inspires me….her message is one of health diet and fitness and she is a shining examole of that…..she practices what she preaches, If you don’t agree with her attire and it offends you / or your friends ……don’t tune in, maybe we are more lay back in Aussie land……

  • Evulik

I think that it doesn’t matter what Lisa wears during her workouts. I think, she is absolutely fine a witty young woman. I read badly the instruction for the beginners workout and I did 3 sets instead of 2 sets. I’m dying now:-D
I didn’t do the reversal push ups, because I don’t have a dip station and my chairs is too old and don’t have a stability:-D

    There is my score:
    mountain climbers: 65; 70; 60
    squat lunge back and side: 11,5 ; 8,5 ; 8,5
    ugi ball: 33; 30; 36
    push up: 11; 9; 8
    straight arm plyo-metric jump: 17; 17; 14

And I used a suitcase instead of the Equalizer and I pretended jumping over a jump rope (I can’t use one in my room)

    Hi Sureya,

I think most of this anti-Lisa-Marie nonsense is in response to the negativity coming out of HQ Bodyrock towards Zuzka and her choosing to spin off.  People miss Zuzka and seem unable to do a simple search in google to find her. Zuzka has wannabes for sure you need to look for the official fb page and such, but they do exist and she is active as a coach.

I think Lisa-Marie is a nice person put in an impossible place and should be given much more slack than people are giving her.  If Lisa-Marie in a few weeks still thinks she needs implants she should go for it, but any surgery has risks and lots of bad boob jobs are around.

    Hi Kate,

I know the reason behind the ads I just find it funny that they do this on some strange assumption that having bought toilet parts I now need a toilet to go with the parts!  It’s absurd!  I like Gerri’s idea to change my birthdate to some extreme age.

    –Chris

I keep getting the ad – Brand + Social – I think it might be some sort of dating service? maybe because I’ve been married 21 years I should be dating? ha ha! sometimes I get car ads too, haven’t bought a new car since 1986! ha ha! my current car is a ’91!

        Hi Tee,

I’m waiting for Singularity then I won’t need to think as the machine will do that for me as well… :-)   A bit like Google trying to guess what I’m about to type and almost always getting it wrong…love when it corrects correct spelling to something completely nonsensical…

        –Chris
PS It just knows you should be dating…and my toilet will turn to dust tomorrow… :-)

We all know she’s incredibly fit & in good shape, but wearing nothing but tiny undies DOES NOT makes sense by all means. even shorts are much preferable, they would be a great “improvement” from where we are currently at …

Heck, this claim is ridiculously obvious … !!!

I changed the ab bonus to take advantage of my dip station

That was so weird you commented and I tried to respond and your comment just disappeared, and I got an error report! lol

when I try to do the ball, I just fall!

  • Gerri Lee Schafer

hahahah…close, he turns 65 in March

  • http://www.facebook.com/kendra.oberhauser Kendra Lee Oberhauser

That was great!  And a lot of fun.  I wanted to do both intermediate and advanced, but it’s wet outside, so I can’t be running in and outside for the high knees like with intermediate, so I did the advanced:

Walker for dip station, balance ball and 35lb sandbag.

    3 pt surfer jumps: 10-8-7.5
    pu and cross kick: 19-19-17
pull up and oblique knee raise (full pull up/partial pull up): 7/5–4/7–0/12
elevated push up and 2 reptiles: 8-7-8

Then 8×20&10 high knees skipping for 456 skips.

Changed shoes then did the abs bonus twice:
oblique plank drop and knee touch R: 16-16
    “” L: 18-16
sb sit up, twist and press up: 5-5

  • Jessica Cockbain

For anyone who is doing the advanced workout but is perhaps on the lower end of advanced (or if you have a ball that isn’t optimally inflated) I did the elevated spiders with the ball up against the wall for a little added balance and it did wonders for making the exercise achievable!

  • Kitteninparis

I found your site from youtube and am intrigued. I’ve been trying to lose weight and actully have lost 28 pounds following a low carb/high fat diet.  While I have dropped 2 dress sizes,I’m  not
toned and I still have 20 more pounds until I reach a healthy bmi. So, from what I’ve seen on your I don’t do hours of cardio to burn fat. Is all I need to  do in HIIT?

Haha.  That one actually made me laugh.  I like your but comment :)  And I agree with your quote.

Yes to both of you :) I just share my opinion so they can get as many people sharing the site as possible! I can’t because of co-workers, and I know I am not alone on that!! i love to bodyrock and want to share it to everyone!!

    uh, not really.

Oh cool – very interesting and I’m sure it will be (and is) very rewarding for you as well!!  My husband is a physician and he occasionally has medical students follow him during clinical and surgical days (as part of their schooling).  He just brings home random stories they tell him – so hence my curiosity I guess.  As for me – I can watch a gory movie no problem, but I get nauseous and almost faint at the sight of real blood.  :)

    • Anonymous

Oh I agree! There is a reason I am going into physical therapy, no where near blood. :)

  • Nikki

I did my first Bodyrock workout today and I must say, “I’M OUT OF SHAPE!”  The beginner version really had my thighs shaking (I cried a little on the inside… Not because it was hard but because I am so out of shape) and the modified push-ups had my arms feeling like Jell-o.  If that isn’t enough motivation to keep going, I don’t know what is?  Only the strong survive!  I am going to take the challenge and keep up with a daily workout routine.  I have taken a “before” picture and plan on taking a new one everyday.  I hope to eventually post my success story on here.  ps- Lisa had the most amazing body and enthusiasm!

    • koota

Hey Me too, started on Tuesday though, did better than I thought but it KILLED ME!! Make sure you stretch, or u won’t be able to workout tomorrow ( my big mistake) Good LUCK

  • Anonymous

I did the advanced workout lol the only real problem I had was the spider pushups… since I don’t have equalizers. The dipstation was too tall, and the ball too small to do them right. I did them still just I don’t think I did as many as I could… And for the pull ups I did have to jump lol cause I need to work on my pull ups also. My scores:

    1) 8,7,7
    2) 16, 16, 14
    3) 8, 8, 8
    4) 8, 8, 9…. the last I did with my legs on my couch… although it was still too low it was a bit more doable haha.

I did the abs as well… and my balance sucks haha.

    1) 14
    2) 12
    3) 7… these either you can’t do very many, or I did too many presses lol :D

Thank you for the workout was fabulous :D !!

  • BodyRocker_Bonnie

    Kateeeeee :) thanks!

  • BodyRocker_Bonnie

Monkey PU and Jump:  15, 14
    High Knees:  109, 103
PushUp on Ugi with 3-point jump  10, 9 (carpeted room, can’t slide)

    Abs bonus:

I cannot believe we are STILL effing talking about what she is wearing.   You people are seriously more concerned with her wearing tiny briefs than when Sean wore a Tutu?  WTF. (which for the record I thought was hysterical)

I think the wedgie issue bothers me way more than the actual briefs- but give it a rest.

ANYWAY… I regret- I was at the gym last night and couldn’t locate a pen- so I couldn’t track my scores- but I did the intermediate and was pleased- minus the fact HK skipping makes my pants try to fall down.  I need to invest in new ones (smaller perhaps!!!) or do some minor surgery and add elastic.  I think its a good sign when your pants start falling off doing high knees!!!

Thanks for the workout :D   can’t wait for the next one.

  • http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage.asp?id=VW_STEPH Stephanie

Wowy! Well this was my first attempt at an advanced workout.  I gave it a try and my scores are low but I tried hard!
    -3 Point Surfer Jumps – 9-7-7
    -Pushup + Cross Kick – 14-11-10
-Pullup + Bent Knee Oblique Twist – 5-3-4 (Jump up pullups)
    -Elevated Spider Knee + Pushup – 7.5-7-6

    Whew!! Oh, Abs!
-Oblique Plank Drop + Knee to Elbow Touch Left – 10
-Oblique Plank Drop + Knee to Elbow Touch Right- 11
    -Overhead Abs, Press + Twist – 7

Super low numbers on the abs… BUT, I feel really good – I’ve never been able to do the plank drops or knee to elbow whilst in plank… But tonight I DID IT! Yay! I never thought I’d be able to do them ever, my abs always seem my weakest link… So tonight, I achieved something. :)

Thanks guys! Thank you so much! x

  • Bodyrocker_Audra

Call me crazy but, I decided to do all the workouts with ab bonuses for a complete cardio/plyo workout.  I did take a 2 minute rest between each workout.  All-in-all it took 1 hour to complete including a cool down and stretch in the end :)   Thank you Lisa and Freddy!

  • Jessica

Sorry this seems like a really silly question but how many is a “set??” haha

    • yboog

There can be many repetitions in one “set”.
      Example:
The squat lunge/side lunge combo has 2 reps in one “set”.

Also, sometimes we do 10 High Knees then 10 mountain climbers…
1 set is the 20 together.
So if in 50 sec. you did this 3 times you have 3 sets rather than saying you did 60 reps.
      Hope that helps.

    tuck abs: 17, 14

If you have a dip station or a modification that you have used for a dip station, you can sit in it, pullup while sitting in a L shape (leg straight out) then just curl one hip up then the other.
but if you have a sturdy door, you can hang off that.

there were many many comments on the facebook page from guys who obviously felt it was pornographic, by the wording of their comments.  They have been deleted now, but it was disgusting.  So I think BodyRocker Beth has the right to feel that way as well. and it looks like at least 146 other people agreed.  At least she was not afraid to put her name!

It is really odd to me that people even have a single complaint about anything on here when, these nice people are doing this for free and taking a lot of time out of their days to do so.

    Anyways,

    I did the intermediate workout:

    High knee skip – 140, 140

    Squat lunge/side lunge – 6, 6

    High knee skip – 120, 130

Monkey push up and jump – 12, 13

    Tuck ab – 22

    1/2 burpee – 25

*I also added a round of burpees and an extra round of push ups.

    :]

Sometimes, the intermediate looks harder than the advanced. They are completely different workouts. It does not look that the advanced version is a harder version of one exercise from the intermediate one as the moves from each workout are totally different.

That´s why I like to try both :)

Do you have a table that you can get under and hold onto the edge for pullups?  If you look up Mark Lauren, You Are Your Own Gym, you might get ideas for exercises for your back without equipment.

    • Reenae Young

      Oh I have the equalizers

  • md

I agree…  Are you a medical student?  Just curious – I respect your privacy and do not expect you to answer that :)

    • Anonymous

I am in the medical field and see bodies ALL THE TIME.  I personally am not offended by Lisa-Marie exercising in a bikini, but I think we should respect people when they voice that they are a little uncomfortable.  Also, just a friendly fyi, just because you see naked bodies in practice does not mean that you look at them at all the same way as you would a healthy non-patient.  I don’t know if that makes sense haha.  It’s just a very, very different view because with a patient, you are looking at how to help them objectively, whereas with media, peers, etc, you may look at their aesthetic quality.
I personally think LM should practice however she feels comfortable.  You cannot please everyone.. but in the meantime lets stop the jumping down throats of the more conservative.

      • mel

Right… Although, there is quite an abundance of hypocrisy within all of this as well.  So I think to myself – how can your “opinion” for one person who has shown a lot more flesh over the years be dramatically different than it is for someone else who hasn’t/isn’t?!  This doesn’t add up…  If I had any issues with this site and the sexy nature of it – I simply wouldn’t be here (is this not common sense).  So how can a “BR veteran” have issues with what LM is wearing compared to what Z exposed?!  It seems like dysfunctional loyalty all around.  And stating that this was “pornographic” goes far beyond “a little uncomfortable” as you mentioned above.  I see people “jumping down the throats of the more conservative” when “the conservative” are being rude, disrespectful and again hypocritical with their comments…
And a friendly fyi to you as well, my husband is an accelerated medical grad (yes, I am his cheerleader :) – he’s been in private practice (Dermatology) for almost 15 years now (that’s a lot of skin)…  I was just curious about TessaVolk’s involvement with anatomy class and cadavers…  peace to us all!

      • Anonymous

I just feel that the comment that I quoted ”I really love you you guys and everything you to but…” has been reoccurring everywhere possible lately.  Not just when it comes to her clothing but also with repeated workouts, problems with the equipment, and more.  I had no intention of jumping down anyone’s throat.  That is why I just left a comment, not directed at anyone. The only reason I mentioned my time with cadavers was to show that I have no problem with the human body.  I understand the comments saying that they are uncomfortable, that is fine I get that.  Just the way that a lot of them are worded is mean.

As I’ve already mentioned – again, the issue is when I want to show these VIDs to my friends / family & I just CAN’T b/c of how this site is now looks … :(

It’s jst my opinion, tho. I think thev’e gone too far.

    • Kamillzyna

Agreed. I think the site could definitely be a bit more appropriate in terms of workout names, photos, and attire. We all understand that she feels comfortable wearing what she likes, which is great, but it can be uncomfortable for some, or many people interested in the workout. It’s also important to know audience and how they might react when having a website, especially bodyrock.tv. It’s really crucial to consider factors such as family, younger audience, and to attract positive opinions altogether.

    • http://www.facebook.com/kendra.oberhauser Kendra Lee Oberhauser

Yeah, I agree.  I don’t care for myself, and I don’t care what’s “appropriate”–I think LM looks great, I think Sean looks great, and I don’t personally get offended or anything.  I’m a loyal BodyRocker, and I kind of love the cheekiness.  Whatever works for BR and the business.  I just won’t ever share vids on Facebook or anything because people who don’t know the site will think something different.  Also, I live in Northern California where some people would make comments (funny how that is).  But I think for the BR business model they don’t really need people like me sharing vids.  I don’t care–I LOVE BodyRock, as I know you do.  :)

  • ۞ BodyRocker ♥ Beth ۞

Yes I do have have issues when I want to show these VIDs to my family to encourage the habit of baodyrocking. this does not appropriate us.

    BTW… My comment was removed. & Im NOT a guest … =.=

    • md

LOL – but huge cleavage on the verge of popping out is totally “normal” and appropriate for you and your family to view – interesting…

      • ۞ BodyRocker ♥ Beth ۞

You can keep laugh. I still think it going too far.

        • md

yes – we all realize this and I will.

  • Backtomobay

I’m not sure that I find this inspiring anymore.  Lisa is working out so much and so hard that I’m afraid that she is getting painfully lean.  We all have a line that we don’t like to cross, with clothing or with fitness.  It looks like a lot more people here feel that the line has been crossed for them with the clothing or lack of.  Lisa did, however, put some socks on.  LOL.  I just have to be very careful when I open the website at work or at home when others are around.  I think the skin factor is inappropriate for a man or woman (I don’t like watching Sean workout without a shirt).  I can only see it as trying to be provocative for more hits.  One still shot without the shirt or Lisa in her bikini is cool, then you get to see all the results, but like someone else mentioned, there is plenty of great workout clothes with a little more material that could be worn for such active workouts.  BodyRock just isn’t the same anymore and the older BR’ers can’t let go (me being one of them).  I keep coming back to the site and continue to be somewhat disappointed.  That’s my “fault” and I’ll get over it.  We can’t make it what it used to be — it has moved on without us and we either go with it or not come back.  That’s my opinion.

  • Reenae Young

Since I dont have a pullup bar, what do you think of a one legged pike press with a knee tuck or something like that?

I wanted an extra little evening workout, so I did the Beginners “Glad You Came” and had a great  sweat! I used a small gymball for the Mountain Climbers, my sandbag for the Jump Overs and a chair seat for the Push-ups.

    1) Ball Mountain Climbers: 150-145.
    2) Squat Lunge & Side Lunge: 20-22 sets.
    3) Sandbag Jump Over: 70-75 (KILLER!!!)
    4) Chair Push-up: 40-37.
    5) Squat Leap: 50-55.
    6) Reverse Pull-up: 28-30.

    Abs: 4 min.
    1) Side Oblique Twist, L: 41.
    2) Side Oblique Twist, R: 38.
    3) Bicycle: 128.
    4) Knee Hugs: 43 (ab BURN!)

    Thanks for a fun sweat!

    Love, Maria

there are just too many videos in underwear and so many crotch and butt shots that its actually steering me away from bodyrock…  its almost getting annoying now.. sorry just my opinion.  Can’t even share the videos with my friends or nieces cause they seem too provocative :(  I know zuzana had some provocative shots as well but i usually never to this extent and in her underwear..

and to anyone who wants to respond.. this is just my opinion which i’m entitled too..  But I have been a follower for a long time and thought maybe freddy and the hosts don’t mind hearing their followers opinions.. if they do mind, then feel free to please delete my comment.

I did the intermediate workout.  I had to modify the V towel exercise because I workout on carpet.  I just jumped instead of sliding.  I also didn’t elevate my pushup.  Oh and I can’t jump rope in the house so I just did high knees.  Here are my scores:

Ab Bonus (had to go easy on the jumps my ankle started to hurt…again

Nice, those workouts seem sweat promising, fat burning and mercy begging and I’m willing to give them a go. :) Just one observation – Lisa, I think you lost your butt (at least that small amount of it you had when you started hosting BR)! BTW, breasts usually grow bigger with increasing BF%. Why not try for a bit more flesh and fat on your body, breasts will come with it, plus a very nice feminine figure. ;)

OK  I think I’ve gone nuts but couldn’t decide which workout to do tomorrow so put them all kind of together.  Don’t know if I’ll survive but I’m going to try!
    so here’s what I’m thinking -

    30 rounds 10 sec 30 sec (20 min)
ugi jump (didn’t know what this was so decided to touch floor and then jump up)
    reverse pushup
    high knees skip
    bicycle
    squat lunge back side lunge
    monkey pushup & jump
plank 2 towel slides to corners/ pushup
    high knees skip
    1/2 burpee wide jumps
    3 point surfer plank jumps
    pushup & cross under kicks
    pullup bent knee oblique twists
    high knee skips
elevated plank 2 reptile knee pushup
sit up press twist each side press

so if I’m still alive I’ll be back with scores tomorrow!  ha ha!

    LISTEN GUYSSS !!! !!! !!!

I really love you & everything you do but PLEASE, JUST… PLEASE Stop training in your undies/underpants ! youv’e gone WAY too far & Im feeling so embarrassed telling my freinds about the site, same with my parents which I really want to encourage the habit of bodyrocking but I simply feel like I can never show ‘em the BR.TV Site as the shots in it are getting .. really, pornographic ! please stop it … Im not angry or anything just feeling sorry for everyone else who feels the same like me, about how INFERIOR this shots making our site to look like. all I ask from you is just to put some basic items of clothing on your bodies. :(

you may like the comment if you agree my opinion.

Anyways, Have a nice day everyone …

Logged for tomorrow!  I’ll be doing the intermediate option, & somehow working the wheeled swivel stool into the mix again.  I’m glad you guys are back & that your uncle is okay.

Dinner tonight was easy, flexible, & healthy:  Turkey (or tofu, chick, no meat) with potato, carrot, & green peas.
