10 Celebrities With Acne Who Prove You Aren't The Only One
We often associate celebrities with perfection. They have the perfect makeup, clothes, hair, bodies, careers and lives. We begin to think their good looks, charm and bottomless bank accounts make them some sort of royalty. We even stop seeing them as normal.
Though every human, no matter their status, is normal, with good things and bad things happening in their lives. Even celebrities can't escape some pitfalls, including a lack of body confidence despite their seemingly plastered on smiles and svelte figures. Here, 10 celebrities weigh in on their biggest acne struggles.
Cameron discussed her struggles with acne during her teenage years and twenties in her 2014 The Body Book: The Law of Hunger, the Science of Strength, and Other Ways to Love Your Amazing Body. She said, “I had terrible, terrible, skin. It was awkward and embarrassing and frustrating, and I always felt really bad about myself.” She said she tried every type of medication to no avail.
Despite now having a CoverGirl contract, Katy admits she struggled with skin issues as well. "One of my insecurities is that I have acne scars. I'm self-conscious about that, so sometimes I wear too much makeup to cover them up," she said.

Rihanna doesn't always have flawless skin either. She said, "When I feel like my skin has had it, I cut out all alcohol and overdo the water. And lipstick is essential—it draws attention away from any flaws."
Emma Stone says she dealt with both hormonal- and stress-induced acne. She noted that she tried out Accutane at 17, and when she filmed Easy A, her acne had to be airbrushed out of the film. “I realized how debilitating and embarrassing it can be to have cystic acne,” she revealed. “So I'm really interested in the biology of what makes up acne and how to work on it from the outside, too.”
The Glee star is a spokesperson for Proactiv. Of her skin struggles she said, "It sort of just came out of nowhere. It was like adult acne, and I was like, ‘I've had great skin my entire life. How am I dealing with this now at 24?’ It was a point of insecurity for me.”
Even though Keira has a temperamental complexion, she suffers from occasionally getting blemishes. “I’m incredibly self-conscious about the fact that I get bad skin.” And of working in Hollywood with her condition, she said it is very difficult. “If you’re using your face, if you’re seling it, then you become so aware of the flaws because people tell you. And they do so brusquely."
The Big Bang Theory star says, "I had acne as a teen, and it made me so insecure to be on camera—not a good thing when you are on a television series."
The Friday Night Lights beauty is also a Proactiv spokesperson who revealed that she experienced an acne flare-up on set when she was planning her nuptials. "I was shooting Friday Night Lights in Austin, and with the humidity, the great Texas food, the hormones, and the stress of me planning the wedding, my skin was freaking out."
The Neutrogena Ambassador and Disney star says, “I remember the first time I started to get acne, I started to see all these little bumps under my skin, and it just made me feel very insecure every time someone would look to me or talk to me."
The 90210 babe posted a makeup-free selfie on Instagram revealing her adult acne back in 2012. “I happen to unfortunately have adult acne. I don’t want anyone who might like me or look up to me for any reason to think less of themselves because they have blemishes and someone is giving me crap for having them. Let’s quit the standard of perfection. We’re not perfect, we’re human.”
