10 Everyday Decisions That Could Be Negatively Affecting Your Penis

Alright, fellas, I know the penis is a pretty amazing and pretty important body part. You spend a lot of time thinking about it but you might not have considered that things you do everyday may be having a negative impact on your "lad." Here are 10 things you should STOP doing if you want to improve the life of your penis:

We all know the major ill effects of smoking but I'm guessing you haven't linked those to your penis. Short term nicotine use constricts blood vessels which means decreased blood flow to the penis. This decreases not only the quality of your erection but the intensity and the duration. If you are feeling particularly considerate, you may be interested to know that smoking also impacts the taste and texture of your semen. No one wants thick, acrid semen. Just saying. Smoking can also harden the arteries which will negatively impact your ability to get hard. Good news? There is some research that suggests quitting can give you a wider, harder and longer lasting erection.

Excessive Boozing

"Whiskey dick" is real. And it is depressing. And like smoking, alcohol makes your semen taste truly horrible. Long term, excessive alcohol use is linked to impaired blood flow and a decrease in sex drive. Not good for your love life.

Eating Terribly

Eating loads of junk food leads to weight gain, blood flow issues, depression and more (and once again, it makes your semen taste bad!). As you should be doing anyway, avoid foods with monosodium glutamate (MSG), high-fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils (trans-fats) and artificial dyes. Eating fresh, whole foods like fruits, veggies, whole grains and legumes will improve your mood, erection and semen.

Being Inactive

A sedentary lifestyle is linked to erectile dysfunction. Being active boosts your blood flow and stamina in bed by improving cardiovascular and pulmonary health which means better blood flow and oxygenation.

Being Overweight

Fat plays a role in hormone production and having too much fat, limits your ability to produce testosterone. Excess fat also builds in the arteries and veins which, once again, decreases blood flow. Being overweight can also lead to diabetes which can lead erectile dysfunction. Diabetes not only causes blood flow issues, it impacts the nerves, meaning a loss in sensation.

Too much stress can make you go limp. Relax and free yourself from life's worries.

Sleep Deprivation

During the night, your penis has several erections lasting up to a half hour in length. If you get a full 8 hours of sleep, you're looking at 2-3 hours of erections you aren't even aware of. Think of this like interval training for your penis. These erections are helpful in maintaining good quality blood flow and in oxygenating all the tissues of your penis.

Ignoring Your Mental Health

When you're down, you will pretty much never get it up. Anxiety and depression make achieving and maintaining an erection next to impossible. If you think you have a serious issue with your mental health, you should really talk to someone. It will give you the tools you need to make your life what you want it to be and as an added bonus, erections.

Not Getting Enough Vitamin D

Vitamin D is essentially for more than 200 functions in the body. One of these functions is the production of testosterone. Low levels of Vitamin D have been associated with depression, low sex drive, low testosterone and erectile dysfunction.

Seal The Deal

Many men will not be motivated to take care of their health until it impacts their penis. Don't be one of those guys. Get healthy so you can get it on.
