Cooking for Love? Try These Aphrodisiacs

An aphrodisiac is something that arouses you or intensifies sexual desires - they were named after Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty. Throughout history, the title of aphrodisiac has been bestowed upon several foods that were thought to improve sexual function or fertility. Today we know the aphrodisiac foods probably don't have any impact on your sex life, but many of them are good for your health. Perhaps the vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals or other antioxidants found in these aphrodisiacs are the real key to a healthy love life. Flip through the slideshow to see some of our favorite aphrodisiac foods. 1. Bananas: The allure of the banana as an aphrodisiac is fairly obvious, given its shape. But they have impressive nutritional benefits as well because they're rich in potassium and vitamins and minerals. Bananas also contain an enzyme called bromeliad that is said to enhance male sexual health. 1 Small Banana 2. Asparagus: is another aphrodisiac that appears to stand at attention. This long slender vegetable is rich and vitamins such as folate and vitamin K, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. And  asparagus is naturally low in calories. 3. Honey: has a long history as a sweet and sticky aphrodisiac. It was frequently prescribed to newlyweds on their honeymoon by ancient healers. From a nutrition standpoint, honey isn't much better than any other sugar, although it does have some nutrients and is easily absorbed for a quick burst of energy. But it's the flavor that makes honey so magical -- a drizzle of honey can add a little decadence to any dish. 4. Avocados: resemble another part of the male anatomy and have long been thought of as aphrodisiacs. Whether or not they arouse anyone to do anything is questionable, but they are rich in vitamins, minerals, monounsaturated fats and may help support prostate health. 5. Chocolate: is everywhere on Valentines Day so it must have some aphrodisiac quality, right? Maybe - dark chocolate has antioxidants that support healthy blood vessel walls which might help to get your blood flowing. Whether or not the flavor and melt-in-your-mouth feel of high-quality chocolate can go a long way toward setting the mood. Chocolate Stack 6. Raw oysters: are legendary as aphrodisiacs -- could it be the shape or the texture? Or maybe the nutritional content -- oysters are high in zinc, which is necessary for men's sexual health. They're also rich in protein, calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, and vitamin B-12. 7. Fig leaves: are often used to cover the nether regions in otherwise naked figures in paintings so maybe there's some association there. Or maybe it's how ripe figs are full of seeds (and, of course, their shape). In any case, figs may or may not have any power over your sex life but they are nutritious. Figs contain more minerals than most other fruits, plus a healthy dose of fiber. 8. Strawberries: are associated with Venus, the Roman love goddess and they're heart-shaped so it's obvious why they're thought to be aphrodisiacs. They're certainly among the healthiest of foods on this list. Strawberries are loaded with vitamin C, potassium and antioxidants. 9. Chile peppers: bring fire and passion to any meal and maybe they can bring that same heat to your love life.  Chile peppers contain capsaicin, the natural compound that produces the heat. They're also nutritious - chile peppers are an excellent source of vitamin C and other vitamins and minerals. chile pepper 10. Pomegranates were named for Aphrodite, the Greek love goddess. Voluptuously round ripe pomegranate fruits are fully-laden with seeds -- perfect as a fertility symbol. And a healthy one at that - pomegranate arils are rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants.   Source: http://nutrition.about.com/od/What-Are-Healthy-Foods/ss/Ten-Healthy-Foods-That-May-Be-Aphrodisiacs.htm Photo Credit: Eric Raptosh Photography/Getty Images | Brian Macdonald/Getty Images | Jean-Yves Bruel/Getty Images Feel free to follow me on my Facebook page or check out more from me on my blog at www.zuzanaorbodyrockaddict.blogspot.com

Shipping & Delivery

Due to COVID-19, shipping systems the world over are experiencing abnormal delays. There is an enormous demand on postal and delivery services as online shopping has skyrocketed, due to store closures and stay-at-home mandates. This is an unprecedented situation, and we are working around the clock to fulfill your orders as quickly as possible. To be clear, we are filling orders in 4-6 days, and we are shipping immediately after that. Once shipped, our shipping partner, UPS, will get your order out to you as quickly as possible. Thanks for your support and understanding.

Are you in Canada? Specifically, are you outside of a metropolitan centre? We need to alert you to a disruption in shipping due to COVID-19. Our preferred shipping provider, UPS, has informed us that they cannot guarantee express shipping for many locations. We have also seen that packages delivered to Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, etc, are not waylaid, but packages delivered to areas just outside of these cities are being held in transit for days or even weeks. UPS has discontinued their guarantee of 1-4 day delivery, which you can read more about here. Therefore, we can guarantee early fulfillment but not early delivery of our goods from our warehouse to your door at this time.

We want you to start your fitness journey with us as quickly as possible, that’s why we send every package to the USA & Canada via expedited or standard shipping with our partners at UPS. Once your order is received and processed, it typically takes 2-4 days to get to you once it leaves our warehouse. That’s our commitment and we stand by it.

We ship within Canada and the United States via UPS with Standard & Expedited shipping (whichever is faster)

For locations outside of the US and Canada, we ship using FedEx International (EUROPE and Other Nations), which is usually in transit for 7-10 business days, depending on location.

We ship all of our physical products with UPS, from our warehouse location in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Delays caused due to custom withholds are not included in these estimated delivery times.

To request a refund on physical product purchases, please contact us.

Digital Products

We cannot issue refunds on digital goods such as e-books or videos, as these are non-tangible goods that are irrevocable once the order is placed.
