15 Clean Food Trends That Are Happening Now
There are some health food crazes that could persuade you to want to give up that nutrition bar for a meat bar! Here are the top 15 clean food trends that are happening right now:
1 – Drive-thru Healthy Food
You are probably used to thinking of a fast food restaurant and automatically associating it with fried, greasy food with tons of calories and carbs. Those days are slowly diminishing. There are numerous fast-food chains that are now offering raw, non-GMO, Paleo, Vegetarian, Vegan, and organic meals. For example, “LYFE Kitchen” bans HFCS, white flour, and white sugar at their restaurant. Below are some healthy food chains:
4 – Dejunk That Junk Food
Is it possible? Can you really de-junk your junk food? People are used to cooking with fattening ingredients, but you can use natural ingredients, and it is becoming more common. For example, have you ever heard of a “clean” cake? You just substitute all the bad ingredients. A few examples below:
5 – Bone Broth
Not many people use bone broth, but it has quite the health benefits. Bone broth is packed with protein and minerals.
6 – Veggie Chips
Gone are the days we sit and eat potato chips. Veggie chips are becoming increasingly popular. With their great taste, it is hard to pass these up.
7 – Matcha
Drinking matcha at least once would classify you as a “hip healthster.” When you drink matcha, you get an antioxidant-rich drink with ground green tea leaves. There are even recipes where you can make matcha truffles and even popcorn. Let’s not forget about the matcha donuts!
8 – Celebrity Vegans Are Eating Meat
Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, and Bill Clinton used to be completely vegan, but they experienced low energy. Now they incorporate fish, dairy, and eggs.
9 – Stinky Cheese
Microogranisms will be used in cheese, as well as yogurt, such as Lactobacillus (which is the same as bugs on our bodies.) Is that all-natural enough for you?
10 – Real Food Bars
Energy bars are loaded with sugar and other harsh ingredients. However, there is now a few brands that can give you the benefit of a high-fiber and high-protein bar without the sweeteners and processed soy. Below are a few:
11 - Healthier Changes
12– Protein Bars
Most protein bars are processed and made from powder. Why not try a protein bar that is made with animal meat? The energy bars that are made with lamb, chicken, bison, or pasture-raised beef are softer than jerky.
13 – Chewing Gum With No Plastic
Most of the gum available is made with artificial sweeteners and synthetic plastic. Brands are now producing gum that comes from trees. How is that for all-natural?
14 – Healthy Bitterness
Bitter foods tend to contain a high amount of potent antioxidants. Join in on this bitter trend by trying fermented food, such as grapefruit, radicchio, dandelion greens, or even some fresh arugula.
15 – Sugar With No Calories. What?
Sugar is evil, right? Now you can still get that sweetness in your food, but without feeling guilty. Sweeteners, such as monk fruit and stevia have become increasingly popular. They have no links to safety or health issues and may even provide a good source of fiber.
