One of the most important parts of your workout is having protein afterward to replenish the muscles that have been broken down. I prefer to refuel with a protein shake post workout. Since I’m vegan and can’t just eat or drink anything, my body is a temple and I won’t put anything in it that comes from another animal. I make protein smoothies almost daily and have come up with some really good recipes and some pretty bad recipes too. They are always different because I use different seasonal fruits and veggies and whatever happens to be lying around the house that day. I wanted to share my favorites with you since I’m an expert on protein smoothies. Here they are I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Note: I use all organic produce and ingredients and so should you! Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie 1 banana 1 cup frozen strawberries 4 teaspoons of PB2 (peanut butter protein powder) 1 cup Almond milk (unsweetened) Place all ingredients into the blender and blend on high until all ingredients are well combined. About 1 minute. Drink immediately. What is PB2? PB2 is a peanut butter protein powder but doesn’t have any weird additives. It packs 5g of protein in 2 tablespoons and has 85% less fat calories than traditional peanut butter. I recently purchased PB2 and am obsessed with it; I have been using it in everything from smoothies to baked goods. Super Food Protein Smoothie ½ cup spinach ½ of a cut up pineapple 1 banana 1 cup coconut milk 2 tablespoons of Hemp Protein 1 tablespoon of Chia seeds ½ cup ice Place all ingredients into the blender and blend on high until everything is well combined. About 1 minute. Drink immediately. Everything but the Kitchen Sink Protein Smoothie 2 tablespoons of RawJuvenate: Vanilla Organic Vegan Protein Powder ½ cup frozen blueberries ½ cup frozen blackberries ½ cup frozen strawberries 1 cup almond milk (unsweetened) ½ cup coconut water 1 teaspoon chia seeds 1 teaspoon flax seeds 1 banana Place all ingredients into the blender and blend on high until everything is well combined. About 1 minute. Drink immediately. The reason I make so many protein smoothies and shakes is because they are easy to make. You can choose to take something out or replace a certain ingredient if you didn’t love the last smoothie you created. Feel free to try and create your own delicious protein smoothies and shakes with whatever combinations you like.
