3 Easy Steps To The Body You've Always Wanted

We're all working out purely for the health benefits, right? Well, probably not. Not only do we want the health benefits, most of us want to actually look like someone who is fit. Health coach, nutritionist and personal trainer, Angela Shurina, has put together these three 'life hacks' to help you start seeing the most from your muscles and your body:

1. Don't eat foods you hate.

For lean muscle, you don't have to live on boiled chicken alone! You can eat your favourite foods, you only need to keep your macronutrient ratio during the day. There is a lot of research on the subject but here is what the ideal ratio looks like:  30 percent carbohydrates, 30 percent proteins and 40 percent fats. Shurina explains, "A healthy mix of these macronutrients is the best way to fuel your body. Fats are important for hormone production, which is essential for healthy life. Carbohydrates provide energy for our life and workouts. When we consume healthy, carbohydrate-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, yams, sweet potatoes, brown rice, quinoa, oatmeal — we get lots of necessary fiber. Proteins are building blocks of every cell in our body, our muscles included."

2. Find the eating plan that works best for you.

accountable Don't just blindly follow arbitrary rules like eating 5 meals a day or eliminating certain foods completely. You have to find whatever it is that works for you. That might mean eating two or three bigger meals a day, for others, it may mean intermittent fasting. Whatever you choose, make sure it is sustainable. But remember, if you are eating too much food, you will never see your abs. If abs are your goal, you may need to cut your calorie consumption. Just something to keep in mind.

3. Visualize your new, lean body.

When you are trying to make something happen, visualization is a big part of it. As Shurina explains, "It’s important to visualize the process and lifestyle choices we make on a daily basis: healthy eating, working out, enjoying being fit and healthy, shopping for clothes for our new body and enjoying our new friends who are into a similar lifestyle." Keep these things in mind while tackling your workouts and daily life choices. These three tips can go a long way to helping you reach your body goals in a relatively easy and sustainable way!
