It's the most important meal of the day. It's been a thing for a long time, and respected and revered by the wise with reason. There are a lot of reasons why you want to pay attention to your breakfast, and lots of things to look out for. It doesn't take a genius to recognize that eating bacon & eggs 5 times a week when you're trying to lose weight is going to make hitting your goals more difficult, and to some it might even seem like the best option is just to skip it all together. But don't! You just have to be doing it right, and that's also delicious.
Jump start your day.
This morning meal is key to setting the pace for your day. Breakfast starts our daily metabolism running and helps your stomach feel more satisfied all day. You should find yourself less hungry when you've had a good, satisfying breakfast - so you're snacking less and consuming fewer calories. And fewer calories means you're more likely to be losing weight.
Eat only as much as you need.
It's helpful to get an idea of portions and how much you should be eating in a day - the recommended portions change with age and gender so there isn't really one set 'right amount' to go off of. Build your breakfast with portions in mind and adjust to how much you need in a day. Here is a helpful guide
to figure out how big your breakfast really is.
Avoid sugar, gain fiber.
It's tempting to load up on sugar in pancakes and coffee, but these things all point to the same, mid-morning crash. To avoid proverbially shooting yourself in the foot, focus instead on building a meal that offers lots of fiber and lots of protein to get your day going right. that definitely do it right. If you do have ideas, or already regularly eat a good breakfast, please share!
