3 Weird Friendships Every 20-Something Is Involved In
When you're younger, friendships form out of the social structures you're a part of. Mainly, school. From kindergarten to college you have been exposed to prime friend-making environments.
As you move through life, it gets harder to maintain those once close friends and you find yourself with only a small cluster of people you actually consider "friends". We examine the 3 weird friendships you're most likely a part of as you enter this new transition in life:
#1 The Screen-Time Friend
It's the person in the group you joke around with when you are all collectively in conversation, but when those other friends mill off to the bathroom you screen time awkwardly look at your phones until they return. Screen Time usually belongs to your good friend Katie's inner circle, but is someone you don't know well enough independent from that.
#2 The Preschool Buddy
The only reason you are friends now is because you were friends when you were finger-painting. It is a friendship you feel you must maintain because it's been 20 years but you consciously would never become their friend if you just met them yesterday.
#3 The Frenemy
The Frenemy is a dangerous, yet complex entity. They pray off your shortcomings, and give you backhanded compliments to spur your self-doubt, but disguise themselves well enough as a friend. Their actions are typically rooted in deep jealousy and they will always do you more harm than good.
What are some odd friendships you are apart of?
