Day 13 was a nice ease into the week after a relaxing rest day. My rest days are usually pretty active, but not yesterday. Yesterday was one of those curl-up-on-the-couch-in-a-beam-of-sunlight-with-a-good-book-and-hot-cup-of-tea kind of days for me. Granted with children, this is not what the day looked like, but in my mind that was where I was.
We had a birthday party to go to in the afternoon, which was wild and crazy, as children's birthday parties tend to be. There was also the additional temptation of party food. Fortunately the host is a very health conscious eater, so there were not too many temptations. The ice cream cake was easy to pass up because the dairy is killer for me, but the grain free pumpkin cupcakes were calling my name. I did have the tiniest taste of my son's. After 21 days without sugar, that tiny morsel of cupcake was enough sugar for me!
We have been going through a food lull lately. We have realized that we fall into this routine of making the same meals over and over and over and over again. They are delicious, but we loose interest and motivation in cooking, so we decided to purchase some new cookbooks to add some variety. Sometimes it takes the extreme of having to buy a whole new cookbook (or two in my case! I really love cookbooks and have my eye on several right now) or simply adding a vegetable or dish to our repertoire. I find the simplest are usually the most delicious. Food doesn't have to be complicated to be yummy.
What new foods have you added to your meals? Please share! I would love some more inspiration!
The workout. What did you think? I removed my shoes after the first round because I have better balance on side planks if I have bare feet. Let me tell you, I sure was motivated not to mess up the skipping! I hit my toe a couple of times with my rope! I'm not sure I will do that again!
My abs loved the side planks! It certainly created a nice burn. I love how after a couple of weeks my body starts to crave the workouts, crave the burn!
Welcome to the gun show! LOL! Sorry! I am the most bashful, uncomfortable self talker there is, so this picture is unusual for me. Actually any selfie is unusual for me. Maybe you have noticed none of my pictures include my face. I'm just not there yet:) Maybe one day!
Gratitudes: the time I have with my children and the reminder of innocents.
Peace and love xoxo
