5 Body Pains You MUST See A Doctor About
If you're like me, you don't want to run to the doctor for every little ache and pain. Especially, if you're afraid of looking foolish if it turns out to be nothing. But that mentality can be dangerous when we begin ignoring real issues. So if you're experiencing any of these 5 pains, go see your physician! No excuses.
#1 Morning Headaches
"Patients that have a complaint of a headache that's much worse in the morning — perhaps it's relieved by vomiting, gets better as the day goes on, perhaps worse with coughing or exercise — [it] might be a symptom of a primary brain tumor." Dr. Natalie Azar, NBC medical contributor, explains.
Cases of brain tumors are extremely rare, but it's best to rule out all possibilities.
#2 Severe Stomach Aches
"Typically what we would experience is pain in the belly, anywhere from the navel up to the breastbone." says Dr. Azar.
Stomach aches can be caused by many problems. If your stomach feels empty after eating, or if you experience black stool or vomit, it's best to talk to your doctor to rule out an ulcer.
#3 Swelling and Pain In One Leg
This could be a red flag indicating a blood clot. Blood clots can typically be developed when you remain sedentary for a long period of time. They can also be caused by medication, surgery and extended bed rest.
#4 Nighttime Back Pain
"What we're talking about here is very specifically back pain that wakes you up from a deep, deep sleep at night." Dr. Azar explained.
If you have a history of cancer, or you're experiencing fever and unexplained weight loss, check in with your doctor.
#5 Pins And Needles In Feet
This condition has often been associated with diabetes. This could be a warning sign that you should get tested!
