There are few things in life more daunting than being a 'beginner' at something. No one likes looking like they don't know what they are doing! But you should never let this stand in your way. Everyone has to start somewhere. Our Beginner Bootcamp Challenge is designed with the beginner in mind but even so, it can be hard to stay motivated and on track. The workout is challenging and you will want to quit. But when you feel that way, think of these pro tips that will help you keep your head in the game:
1. Focus on behavior change not achieving outcomes
Everything in our culture prompts us to want results right away. We always seem to be looking for an instant solution but bringing this belief into your fitness routine is setting yourself up for failure. The fact is, if you want to make a body transformation, it will take time. When you see people getting dramatic results within months, remember, they are the exception to the rule. AND, they often gain everything back because things happened so rapidly that they failed to make true lifestyle changes. Instead of focusing on changing your body, focus on changing your behaviours. Instead of thinking "I'd like to lose 50 pounds," try "I will do my daily BodyRock workouts and find something fun and active to do on my rest days." This way, you can celebrate your achievements every single day!
2. Change one thing at a time
We all lead very busy lives. Most of us are juggling enough as it is, there is no need to add the pressure of altering your ENTIRE existence in one go. Do one thing at a time. Start by committing to your workouts. Once you do this, you will be able to make changes to your diet. But even then, don't feel like you have to do it all at once. If you make small changes over time, you will notice you've created sustainable habits.
3. Accountability Accountability Accountability
If you take on these lifestyle changes by yourself, you are likely to fail. Grab a pal and do it together. It is a lot more fun that way and a lot harder to get away with making excuses if someone else is holding your feet to the fire! If you don't have anyone willing to work out with you, at least find someone who is willing to help you stick to your goals. Never underestimate the power of support.

4. Find your ‘Why’
Find your real motivation. To be successful, it has to be deeper than your appearance. Looking great is a wonderful side effect of being fit but it can't be your sole purpose. Find your 'real' reason. Would you like to live longer and enjoy yourself a little more? Would you like to be healthy? When you're done soul-searching and have found your inspirational "why," write it down. Put it up somewhere in your home where you can and will see it each and everyday. Make it your mantra.
5. Whatever you do, enjoy it
Have fun. Isn't that the key to everything in life? Following the Beginner Bootcamp workouts is like kicking it with your bud in your living room for 10-12 minutes at a time. It is nothing, really. Put on some killer tunes during your warm ups, enjoy this time you are taking for you and you alone. If you've got a workout pal, push each other and most importantly, laugh. Some of the moves can be awkward and difficult at first, it is okay to laugh at yourself. And on your rest days, you're free to really create something enjoyable. Hike, swim, ski, dance. Whatever it is you enjoy, do it.
So, who's ready? Feeling like packing it all in is natural but it doesn't have to be your default! Being consistent is the only way to change your life!
