5 Protein-Packed Breakfast Options You Have to Try
One of the things that gets a lot of people out of bed in the morning, besides the fact that they have to go to work, of course, is the thought of breakfast. Every morning is a fresh start, and every breakfast, in a way, symbolizes the energy you plan to put into your day. A big breakfast like eggs, bacon and pancakes is a slow Saturday morning feast, while other items make way for an energy-filled day complete with a go-getter attitude. These five high-protein breakfasts will give you the latter, whilst still providing you with satisfaction.
"Take raw oats and mix them with milk and Greek yogurt, which is dense with protein,” Katherine Younger, RD, author of the blog Kath Eats Real Food suggests.
2. Vegetable Omelet
With or without the yolk, you can get the protein you need to power through your day. A large egg white has about 3.6 grams of protein and a whole large egg has 6.3 grams.
3. Fruit smoothie
“This drinkable, grab-and-go meal delivers protein, vitamins, and other disease-fighting nutrients,” says Carole Havrila, RD, an oncology nutrition specialist at the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center at the University of Virginia Health System.
4. Tofu Scramble
With around 10 g of protein per half cup serving, adding tofu to your breakfast is a great way to fuel up for the day ahead. Try this cheesy tofu scramble with mushrooms and creamy yogurt.
5. Cocoa Breakfast Smoothie
Have a morning sweet tooth? Try this protein-rich smoothie complete with soy milk and tofu. Add some banana for fiber and honey for an extra touch of sweetness.
