6 Cancer-Fighting Superfoods You Have to Try
Today, it seems cancer has found its way into our world as a frightening normalcy. But don't let that be the case for you. Here, we give you six ways to incorporate cancer-fighting superfoods into your daily diet to help lower your chances of developing the often deadly disease.
For breakfast: Yogurt or kefir
Both of these contain the healthy bacteria known as 'probiotics,' which boosts your immunity and aids in keeping your digestive tract healthy,
Snack on this: Nuts
Though the calorie count can sneak up on you, grabbing just a handful as a snack between meals is a great way to keep your metabolism going. They also contain monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which work to keep your heart healthy.
For lunch: Leafy greens and tomatoes
Make yourself a salad and incorporate leafy greens, which pack a healthy punch of of fiber, folate, carotenoids like lutein and zeaxanthin and flavonoids, complete with antioxidants that work to shield your cells from damage. Toss in some tomatoes, known to be a good source of vitamins A, C and E, which keep free radicals at bay.
Snack on this: Berries
Sweet, fresh and easy to eat on the go, berries are your best friend. They're also extremely healthy! They're a good source of fiber, vitamin C, ellagic acid and the phyochemical anthocyanidins.
For dinner: Wild salmon
Make your main course a taste of the sea with a 3-ounce portion of protein-packed wild salmon, which is also rich in omega-3 fatty acids and eicosapentaenoic acid.
For dessert: Dark chocolate
Don't give up on your sweet tooth just yet! An ounce a day may keep the doctor away. With this just-right portion, you can still get the benefits of the superfood, which is filled with antioxidants, and not go overboard on your calorie count.
