6 Culprits That Could Be Ruining Your Sleep...Without You Knowing It

Sleep is sooooo important and more often than not we aren't getting enough hours of sleep each night.  Whether it is due to parenting, a hectic job schedule, or countless other reasons - sleep seems to be one of the first areas that suffer, and one of the things we need most!  Check out these other culprits that may be affecting your sleep....or lack there of. 1. Taking B Vitamins at Night : Think of B vitamins as energizers: They help form red blood cells and assist in the process of making energy from the food you eat. When the vitamins are doing their job correctly, they also regulate your sleep schedule. If you take them at night, though, they can keep you up. Leafy green vegetables, beans, fish, and poultry are usually packed with B. But if you’re taking a supplement, make sure to pop it in the A.M. 2. Your Partner Climaxes, You Don't : Sometimes sex sets you up perfectly for a good night’s sleep. After you do the deed, your body is relieved of stress, and your brain surges with oxytocin and serotonin, which have powerful sleep-inducing effects. But Men’s Health sleep advisor W. Christopher Winter, M.D. says that recently, some of his patients have complained about one partner climaxing and then conking out before returning the favor. That could keep the other partner up. Why? If you don’t quite get there, your blood is still flowing, there’s a buildup of pressure, and your brain is saying, ‘sex’—not ‘sleep’. 3. You Are Reading Non-Fiction :Stick to made-up stories before bed, advises sleep expert Michael Breus, M.D. Having a heated conversation prior to pillow-time is known to keep you up, but the same can go for what you’re reading. “Non-fiction—self-help books, books about finance—may be too much about yourself,” says Dr. Breus. Emotional, absorbing topics can also keep you awake, he adds. With fiction, on some level you know what you’re reading is imaginary, which removes the emotional connection, he explains. 4. You Sleep With Your Cat :A study from the Mayo Clinic recently found that 10 percent of patients reported their pets disturbing their sleep at night. Common annoyances included snoring, whimpering, wandering around the house, and begging to go outside. But Dr. Breus says that more than any other animal, cats seem to be the most disruptive.  “Dogs usually sleep through the night. Cats like to move around more and are much more nocturnal,” he says. Since you have to worry about more than just small paws walking on your face, keep your critter outside the bedroom to protect your shuteye. 5. Your Thermostat Settings : Temperature is a big factor not just for comfort, but for sleep quality. “Keep the temperature between 68 and 72 degrees,” Dr. Breus advises. “But don’t go below 65 or above 75—it disrupts the sleep cycle.” During REM sleep, there’s no thermal regulation ability in your body, so your body heat drops. If you’re too cold, you shake and shiver to generate heat—and if that doesn’t work, you wake up (to move around and generate heat). When you’re too warm, you start sweating, lose water, become dehydrated, and get up in search of H2O, says Dr. Breus. 6. You Ate Mexican For Dinner :Tacos, beans, and guacamole seemed like a great call at the Mexican joint, but they won’t do your nighttime routine any good. “Heartburn affects the quality of your sleep,” says Dr. Breus. But it’s not just the acidity that causes discomfort, says Gary W. Falk, M.D., a Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. When you’re upright, gravity helps keep your food down. When you swallow, saliva also acts like a natural antacid, clearing your esophagus. But when you lie down in bed, you lose the gravity and no longer make saliva, Dr. Falk says.  If you’re going to go for Mexican, make it an early dinner. Recent research suggests that people who ate 6 hours before bed experienced significantly less reflux throughout the night compared with those who chowed down 2 hours before. Source : Home Arena

Due to COVID-19, shipping systems the world over are experiencing abnormal delays. There is an enormous demand on postal and delivery services as online shopping has skyrocketed, due to store closures and stay-at-home mandates. This is an unprecedented situation, and we are working around the clock to fulfill your orders as quickly as possible. To be clear, we are filling orders in 4-6 days, and we are shipping immediately after that. Once shipped, our shipping partner, UPS, will get your order out to you as quickly as possible. Are you in Canada? Specifically, are you outside of a metropolitan centre? We need to alert you to a disruption in shipping due to COVID-19. Our preferred shipping provider, UPS, has informed us that they cannot guarantee express shipping for many locations. We have also seen that packages delivered to Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, etc, are not waylaid, but packages delivered to areas just outside of these cities are being held in transit for days or even weeks. UPS has discontinued their guarantee of 1-4 day delivery, which you can read more about here. Therefore, we can guarantee early fulfillment but not early delivery of our goods from our warehouse to your door at this time.


We want you to start your fitness journey with us as quickly as possible, that’s why we send every package to the USA & Canada via expedited or standard shipping with our partners at UPS. Once your order is received and processed, it typically takes 2-4 days to get to you once it leaves our warehouse. That’s our commitment and we stand by it.

We ship within Canada and the United States via UPS with Standard & Expedited shipping (whichever is faster)

For locations outside of the US and Canada, we ship using FedEx International (EUROPE and Other Nations), which is usually in transit for 7-10 business days, depending on location.

We ship all of our physical products with UPS, from our warehouse location in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Delays caused due to custom withholds are not included in these estimated delivery times.

Returns & Exchanges

BodyRock Equipment

We offer a 30-day return policy, as long as: it is not more than 30 days past the date of delivery; and your item is in its original condition and packaging with the original order number. Refunds will be issued when the equipment is received back to the BodyRock warehouse, minus the original cost of shipping, and the customer is responsible for the costs of return shipping. To request a refund on physical product purchases, please contact us.

Digital Products

We cannot issue refunds on digital goods such as e-books or videos, as these are non-tangible goods that are irrevocable once the order is placed.
