Sometimes, being single can really bum you out. I cannot even count the number of times I've spent an evening bawling my eyes out, turning into a puffy, red eyed mess declaring to my best friend that no one will ever love me and I will be alone forever. It happens. But it isn't how I spend the majority of evenings and it shouldn't be how you spend them either. Below is a list of 6 reasons
you should have pride in your singleness.
1. You Refuse to Settle
You know your desire to have someone in your life doesn't mean you will have just anyone. After my share of toxic relationships, I've figured out that I deserve more. You do too. You want someone who will make you laugh, support you, journey with you. Love you. For him, you are willing to wait.
2. You Left a Toxic Relationship
Sure, you could have a date for your cousin's wedding, but do you really want to go with someone who hurts your spirit? Being solo is much better than being with someone who makes you feel like you are less than wonderful.
3. You're Focusing on Your Career
Sometimes you can't get serious and settle down because you have bigger plans. Maybe you have a job that requires you to be on the road for long stretches or maybe being transferred is a real possibility at the moment. Take this time to focus on getting to where you want to be. Once there, you can be ready for love and have no regrets, no what ifs.
4. You're Learning About Yourself
Sometimes being in a relationship can cause you to lose your way. When those relationships end, you are left wondering what happened to who you were before you were a couple. It is incredibly noble to take a time out from dating and have a closer look at all those things that make you your most amazing self. You will be happier and healthier the next time you welcome a man into your existence.
5. You're Still Discovering What You Want From a Man
There is nothing wrong with staying single until you know what works for you. Sometimes you have to meet some people, wish you'd never met some people or feel indifferent towards some people before you can know who it is you'd like to be with. Take your time, no shame there. Besides, it can prevent settling. Shop around.
6. You're Busy Loving Your Life
Filling your life with things that make you happy is so good for your soul. If you are out and about being your most fabulous self, you won't miss being in a relationship. Spend more time with friends, catch up on your reading, travel, take an art class, whatever. When you're life is full of joy, any man who can break his way into that mix will be worthy of being in it. Happy people attract happy people.
Why are you proud to be single? Not single, what did you love about it when you were?
