Achieving the perfect boiled egg is like making just-right al dente pasta. The steps are particular, but there seems to be a lot of different methods and tricks out there. So what exactly IS the right way to get the best boiled eggs?

Designed by Alexis Kornblum of Lexi's Clean Kitchen, this graphic explains that by bringing one-inch of water to a boil before placing eggs on steamer, with a six-minute cooking time for soft and 11 minutes for hard-boiled, you can make the egg best fit to your liking.
The six-step process is much simpler than it seems, and ensures you get your egg the way you like it, just make sure that right after you've cooked the eggs, that you transfer them to a cold ice bath so that you can peel them easier.
Step One: Place one inch of water into your pot.
Step Two: Place a steamer insert into pot.
Step Three: Cover pot and bring water to a boil.
Step Four: Add eggs into the steamer basket, cover, and cook for six minutes if you want a soft-boiled egg, or 11 minutes for a hard-boiled egg.
Step Five: Remove and place eggs directly into a bowl of ice-cold water.
Step Six: Peel and enjoy!
