7 Tips To Tame Bloat

Sometimes we over eat. Sometimes we bloat. Sometimes we just don't feel our fittest and showing off our midsection in any way, shape or form seems like torture. Being gluten intolerant I am well versed in bloating and how sh*tty it feels and in turn, how you feel about the way you look. But there are lots of things you can do to help reduce bloating and, when all else fails, conceal it comfortably.

1. Snack on Potassium-Rich Foods

Potassium helps regulate the fluid balance in your body. Snack on high-potassium foods like bananas, cantaloupe, mangoes, spinach, tomatoes, nuts, and asparagus — which also contain an amino acid called asparagine that acts as a diuretic to flush excess liquid out of your system.

2. Peppermint Tea

Peppermint has relaxant and antispasmodic properties and can help relieve spasms in the gastrointestinal tract, bile duct and gallbladder.

3. Go for a Walk

Take a 20-30 minute brisk walk. It'll help to increase blood circulation since your heart will be beating faster and release gas (yeah..basically go for a walk so you can fart).

4. Don't Hold It In

It's not pleasant to talk about or to be around, but it's better out than in. You need to release the gas build up - you need to fart. Childs pose is a great way to relieve pressure

Childs-Pose-Yoga-Pose-Feature Childs Pose:  From hands and knees, untuck your toes and lower your hips back to your heels. With knees apart or together, lie your body on your thighs and rest your forehead on the ground. Arms can be straight forward on the ground, or reaching behind you for an extra shoulder release.

If nothing you do will reduce that bloat in the time you need, we must turn to fashion tips.

5. Wear a Blazer

Tailored clothing works will create a streamlined silhouette. A fitted blazer helps conceal any tummy bulge. The trick here is to stick to tailored, fitted blazers instead of slouchy or oversized styles.

6. High Waisted Bottoms

Low waisted jeans are immediately going to create that bloat muffin top, plus be super uncomfortable. Stick to high waisted pants with a bit of give - they'll help conceal the bloat while actually applying a bit of pressure to start to relieve it (yeah...back to the farting).

*Note* If you wear loose fitting high waisted items, it will actually accentuate the bloat. They must be fitted.

7. Avoid Clingy Fabrics

Clingy fabrics can accentuate any problem areas like the stomach. Stick to thicker or more structured fabrics and make sure that the clothing skims your problem areas rather than stick to it.
