8 Excuses We've All Used To Avoid Working Out

November 24, 2014 3 min read

I love exercising, and I'm not afraid to say that I'm addicted - it's not like it's a bad addiction! It hasn't always been that way though - I've always been active, but I didn't used to like going to the gym or doing anything that I considered a workout...and I used to think of any excuse to make it ok for me not to do it. We've all done it - be honest. I would use any excuse I could think of... 1. My gym kit isn't clean

This used to be a favourite of mine - how can you go to the gym if you have nothing to wear!? Come on - you know when you're planning to go to the gym and if your intentions are good then you'll make sure that your gym wear is clean and dry in time for each session. 2. I'm still aching from my last workout
[caption id="attachment_59162" align="alignnone" width="480"]Image credit: http://forgoodnesake.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/allhurts.jpg Image credit: http://forgoodnesake.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/allhurts.jpg[/caption]
Please don't make me do any more squats when my legs already burn just walking up the stairs! Admittedly this can actually be a valid excuse if you've torn a muscle or anything like that, but if it's just a bad case of DOMS then a workout could actually help to ease some of the muscle pain. 3. It's raining
[caption id="attachment_59163" align="alignnone" width="420"]Image credit: http://sd.keepcalm-o-matic.co.uk/i/if-its-raining-were-still-training.png Image credit: http://sd.keepcalm-o-matic.co.uk/i/if-its-raining-were-still-training.png[/caption]
It's too wet and miserable to go out - this particularly works if you're a runner! So what if it's raining - go to the gym and the endorphins will make you so happy you'll think it's perfect weather! If you really can't stand the thought of going outside then workout at home - check out these exercises you can do anywhere! 4. It's sunny
[caption id="attachment_59164" align="alignnone" width="396"]Image credit: http://elizabethlombardo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Id-rather-be-at-the-beach.png Image credit: http://elizabethlombardo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Id-rather-be-at-the-beach.png[/caption]
This was also one I used a lot - why would I want to be working out when I could be laying on the beach!? Now I think about how good I want to look on the beach, and that soon gets me to the gym! 5. I'm too tired - I'll make up for it tomorrow
[caption id="attachment_59165" align="alignnone" width="420"]Image credit: http://cdn.someecards.com/someecards/usercards/1331336795630_901128.png Image credit: http://cdn.someecards.com/someecards/usercards/1331336795630_901128.png[/caption]
After a long day the last thing you want to do is work hard at the gym - I know, and it's all good if I just push extra hard tomorrow - right? Sadly not - we'd all love if that was the case because you'd be able to just go the gym once a month and push really hard to make up for not going for the rest of that month. If you're just feeling a bit lazy and cam't be bothered then get off the sofa and go workout! But if you've actually been pushing yourself too hard with work, etc and are showing signs of exhaustion then it might be advisable to have some rest. 6. I've not got time
[caption id="attachment_59166" align="alignnone" width="499"]Image credit: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c0QNVxsAYCM/UEZyJ2YNG7I/AAAAAAAADz8/o8Os0lkiZIY/s1600/112378953171512643_ZhlqRueD_c.jpg Image credit: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c0QNVxsAYCM/UEZyJ2YNG7I/AAAAAAAADz8/o8Os0lkiZIY/s1600/112378953171512643_ZhlqRueD_c.jpg[/caption]
I'm guilty of this one too - with everything you have to fit into your day it can seem impossible to cram a workout in there! Now I FIND time - admittedly it can be hard to clear an hour or two for the gym, but if you really are struggling to fit that in, do a HIIT workout. It's only 10-20 minutes long and will seriously work up a sweat! 7. I'm not in the mood
[caption id="attachment_59167" align="alignnone" width="480"]Image credit: http://precisionfitpb.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/one-workout-away-from-a-good-mood.jpg Image credit: http://precisionfitpb.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/one-workout-away-from-a-good-mood.jpg[/caption]
You know when you are just not feeling it, and all you want to do is lay on the sofa feeling sorry for yourself? Yep, we've all been there. Get up and workout! Some of my best workouts have actually been while I'm not in the mood for it - I guess it's because I put so much anger towards the fact that I'm exercising! The best part - afterwards I feel great! 8. I haven't been to the gym all week, so I'll just start again on Monday
[caption id="attachment_59168" align="alignnone" width="501"]Image credit: http://twintaste.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/dontgiveup.png Image credit: http://twintaste.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/dontgiveup.png[/caption]
Be honest - we've all had weeks like this. Where, for whatever reasons, you haven't done any exercise, so what's the point in doing just one 'silly little' workout!? Don't fall into the 'I'll start again next week' trap - it's easy to do. Whether it's with your diet or exercise, this can stop you from seeing any results. If you have a bad day, or even a bad couple of days, get up and pick up where you left off. Why let a whole week go to ruin when you could sort it out now?

We've all done it...how many are you guilty of?

Shipping & Delivery

Due to COVID-19, shipping systems the world over are experiencing abnormal delays. There is an enormous demand on postal and delivery services as online shopping has skyrocketed, due to store closures and stay-at-home mandates. This is an unprecedented situation, and we are working around the clock to fulfill your orders as quickly as possible. To be clear, we are filling orders in 4-6 days, and we are shipping immediately after that. Once shipped, our shipping partner, UPS, will get your order out to you as quickly as possible. Thanks for your support and understanding.

Are you in Canada? Specifically, are you outside of a metropolitan centre? We need to alert you to a disruption in shipping due to COVID-19. Our preferred shipping provider, UPS, has informed us that they cannot guarantee express shipping for many locations. We have also seen that packages delivered to Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, etc, are not waylaid, but packages delivered to areas just outside of these cities are being held in transit for days or even weeks. UPS has discontinued their guarantee of 1-4 day delivery, which you can read more about here. Therefore, we can guarantee early fulfillment but not early delivery of our goods from our warehouse to your door at this time.

We want you to start your fitness journey with us as quickly as possible, that’s why we send every package to the USA & Canada via expedited or standard shipping with our partners at UPS. Once your order is received and processed, it typically takes 2-4 days to get to you once it leaves our warehouse. That’s our commitment and we stand by it.

We ship within Canada and the United States via UPS with Standard & Expedited shipping (whichever is faster)

For locations outside of the US and Canada, we ship using FedEx International (EUROPE and Other Nations), which is usually in transit for 7-10 business days, depending on location.

We ship all of our physical products with UPS, from our warehouse location in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Delays caused due to custom withholds are not included in these estimated delivery times.

Returns & Exchanges

BodyRock Equipment

We offer a 30-day return policy, as long as: it is not more than 30 days past the date of delivery; and your item is in its original condition and packaging with the original order number. Refunds will be issued when the equipment is received back to the BodyRock warehouse, minus the original cost of shipping, and the customer is responsible for the costs of return shipping. To request a refund on physical product purchases, please contact us.

Digital Products

We cannot issue refunds on digital goods such as e-books or videos, as these are non-tangible goods that are irrevocable once the order is placed.

All of the BodyRock clothing is made to order and so is final sale. If you have any questions about sizing prior to placing your order, please contact us.
