9 Air-Cleaning House Plants

There’s more to health than clean-eating and fitness, one example being the air we breathe. Among the top five environmental risks to public health: indoor air pollutants, which are linked to sick building syndrome; nose, eye, and throat irritation, dry cough, headaches, nausea, dizziness, and the list goes on. So… that’s disturbing. Don’t worry, I’m not going to suggest a move to the Swiss Alps (although that air is FRESH), instead the Greatist has shared a list of 9 houseplants that clean air, and as a particular boon to me, the killer of 7 goldfish within a one-month period, and owner of countless pots from failed gardening attempts, these plants are nearly impossible to kill! 1. Garden Mum 9GardenMum 2. Spider Plant 9SpiderPlant 3. Dracaena 9Dracaena_0 4. Ficus/Weeping Fig 9FicusFig_1 5. Peace Lily 9PeaceLilly_0 6. Boston Fern 9BostonFern_0 7. Snake Plant/Mother-in-Law’s Tongue 9SnakePlant_3 8. Bamboo Palm 9BambooPalm_0 9. Aloe Vera 9AloeVera_0 The best part? This plan to reduce air pollutants is astronaut approved – yup, this list comes straight from NASA.
