Amy Schumer Finds Out If She's Hot Enough For TV (Must Watch)

She is fast becoming our all time favourite. After watching this video you will see why: Tuesday night, Amy Schumer did something special. She devoted an entire episode of Inside Amy Schumer to just one sketch. In this creative take down of everyday sexism, Schumer recreated the 1957 classic 12 Angry Men. The original movie was an intense, thought provoking drama about a jury deliberating the guilt of a man accused of murder. Amy takes it in a while new direction, as you might expect. The episode has segments featuring men (played by Jeff Goldblum, John Hawkes, Paul Giamatti, and others) debating the dildo and other topics, the episode tears down the idea that women must rely on the arbitrary judgments of men in order to earn a place in the entertainment industry. Check out "Debating the Dildo": The A.V. Club has this to say about why this episode was so groundbreaking.
Devoting almost an entire episode of a sketch show to a single sketch is a bold move, especially since the sketch is enhanced by prior knowledge of 12 Angry Men. Sidney Lumet's critically beloved celebration of empathy isn't obscure, but it's an older film adapted from a teleplay, and it requires more patience from an audience accustomed to the zippy pace and more current pop culture references of a typical Inside Amy Schumer episode. It's a risk that pays off: This is a comic takedown of male rage and the male gaze, tempered by dildo jokes and garnished with perfectly roiled performances.
Genius and hilarious. I don't think I've ever loved Amy Schumer more. How about you? h/t: Cosmopolitan
